This Black History Month, join us for a conversation exploring the rich history of Christianity throughout the African diaspora. Sanctuary members Rahn Franklin, Jacob Gayle, and Mariah Nelson will discuss how African Christianity predated the transatlantic slave trade, and how faith has served as a source of empowerment for African Americans over the past 400 years. Pastor Edrin will host this insightful dialogue, which we hope will raise awareness and appreciation for the deep roots of Black Christian tradition. By learning from the past, we can gain wisdom and inspiration to carry our faith forward into the future.

Pastor Edrin sits down with two Sanctuary members, Elder Nesto Quarshie, and Pepe Wonosikou to discuss how Sanctuary has approached global ministry previously and how we’re preparing to expand/multiply that work as we move into Sanctuary’s next season. They discuss the influence of a growing African demographic in the church family and hear the perspectives of first and second-generation African immigrants.
In our first Beyond Sunday conversation, we sit down with Pastor Edrin to discuss his journey of leading a Black-led, Black-centered multiethnic church over the past five years of a global pandemic, the death of George Floyd in our backyard, and more. We discuss how he is preparing for his need for Sankofa and how he anticipates an upcoming trip to Ghana will shape him as our lead pastor.
