Growing up, I don’t think I realized just how much my mom did to keep our day-to-day life running so smoothly. Now that I’m grown up, I am in awe of everything she did and continues to do for us. Mothers are such a blessing in our lives, and today I want to take a moment to share and thank my mum for some lessons she has taught me, hoping that you can pick a thing or two from them.

Today's episode was a tough one to record but I think it's an important one for myself growth. If you know me personally you know I don't do feelings, I am happy just being sing and living my best life. But the last couple of days have made me realise I am using singleness as a scapegoat to not have to deal with a potential heartbreak. So join me as I have a transparent conversation about feelings and the one that got away.

As many of you already know, this is the last quarter of the year, and if you do any sport, you know that the final quarter is the one that creates the championship. In this week's episode, we talk about practical tips that I have used to set and attain goals, even in the pandemic. This year can still be your year; you still have time to achieve the things you wanted to at the beginning of the year, make sure you have a plan. Set actual goals and write them down somewhere. Make sure these goals are attainable and time-bound. Set a plan of action and pivot if you hit a roadblock.

A happy new month, and enjoy the episode.

Last week was tough for me both physically and mentally, so I decided this week's podcast would be a conversation about mental health, burnout and the danger of the hustle culture. I learnt so much about myself this week and know now that I need to forgive myself for not being where I want to be sometimes, and that rest isn't a sign of weakness but rather a strength and self-care. The phrase, " working towards progression and not perfect " has never felt more real to me.

Have a blessed week 💟

This summer has been one I will never forget for a very long time. Between the worldwide pandemic to dealing with life in mental health issues, it has just been such a unique experience. In today's episode, I give you a bit of a life update, like starting my business during COVID19 while doing university summer classes and participating in so many clubs and groups.

I hope you enjoy it and can take some time to reflect on the last couple of months for yourself. Honestly, it wasn't the summer I wanted, but it was the summer I needed. What have learnt, and how can you make the rest of the year better than the one we have just had? 2020 can still be your year; you might just need to change the way we do things and adjust to this NEW NORMAL.

In today's episode, we want to address some alligations of the human rights crises in Zimbabwe. On the 31st of July 2020, a protest was staged, and the military and the police allegedly arrested and beat activists, journalists and several people for the opposition party. Zimbabwe is a beautiful country filled with hard-working, intelligent people. It is not only beautiful in its human capital but nature and natural resources. The government has been through a lot. It is sometimes easier to play the blame game. Still, for actual change to happen, the #ZIMBABWEANLIVESMATTER needs to stop being just a slogan and become a movement for change.

My condolences to all those who have lost loved ones, and I pray that those injured will heal and live another day.

A special Thank You to @Jae for letting us premiere your song "Afloat," which is dedicated to all the fallen heroes that continue to fight for our people with their loves.

Hello Lovely. I hope you are well in these uncertain times. The last week has been challenging for a lot of black folk around the world, and we wanted to have a conversation about Race relations in a way that added value to the narrative. Hie, thank you for visiting the channel. This is Part 2 of 3 of the Colorism discussion. The theme for this month's "Let's Talk with Ms. Fadzo" is Colorism in different communities and what the implication of it look like across these cultures. The first week is Colorism in the black community, week 2 is Colorism in the brown community, week 3 is Colorism in the white community and in week 4 we speak to some professionals on race relations and what they think.

Comment below if you have experienced the effects of colorism in any way. Let's start a discussion.

Disclaimer: The people who have contributed and I are in no way claiming to know everything about this topic. We will be sharing things based on my opinion and my experience if you have a question feel free to ask them and for more information, Google is your Best Friend.

Why we decided to address this topic: 1. Dark-skinned girls, ‘love yourself for who you are.’ (2020, April 30). Retrieved from https://www.bbc.com/news/newsbeat-52470302

  1. Travis Andrews, A. F. (2018, February 5). Beyoncé’s father takes on ‘colorism’: He dated her mother because he thought she was white. Retrieved from https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2018/02/05/beyonces-father-airs-colorism-he-dated-her-mother-because-he-thought-she-was-white/

Book Recommendations From My Friend around the topic of colourism: 1. Evening Primrose/Period Pains by Kopano Matlwa - it covers gender, xenophobia, period pains in post-apartheid South Africa. A short read, but the topics are quite heavy. Fair warning.

  1. Also by Kopano Matlwa is surprise Coconut - the writing in this was confusing at times. It covers the perspectives of two black girls who are in predominately white communities. I don’t remember too much it’s been over a year since I read it. lol

  2. If you’re into poetry, Upile Chasala has a great trilogy of poetry books. They don’t really connect but do. Shes, a Malawian author, her poetry is excellent.

  3. A Zim author Panashe Chigumadzi’s book These Bones Will Rise Again I’ve been sampling, so I shall see how it goes.

  4. And For the apartheid, Trevor Noah. Born a crime was genuinely well written. Covers apartheid and his experience as a coloured person in apartheid South Africa. This may be one of my favourites.

Black History Month at our University seems to have become just an opportunity to showcase talents and sit down and complain about systems that have existed for many many years. In this episode, we discuss what Black history month means to us as well as what we can be doing to make sure people are aware of why it is celebrated and what we could be doing at our universities. This was hosted through the platform of TRENT RADIO AT 92.7 FFFM

The last episode of Breakfast and Chit- Chat is out and its popping. Reflecting on some of the things I learnt this year and things I'm grateful for. Honestly, this year was my year of breakthroughs. I cried. I laughed, I fought, and I won. Through it all, God showed me what a little faith could do and how he loves us unconditionally, even when we know we have sinned so much. He still loves up. Thank you so much for all the support you have given us this year. We love and appreciate you so much.

I had the honour of being invited to a Luncheon with Mr. Stephen Lewis and a number of influential people in my community. This podcast gives the three things I learnt from the meeting. I really hope you learn something from it.

Here is some information about Stephen Lewis and the work he does:

Stephen Lewis is the co-founder and co-director of AIDS-Free World, an international advocacy organization. He is also the board chair of the Stephen Lewis Foundation.

Mr. Lewis is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Clinton Health Access Initiative and Emeritus Board Member of the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative. He served as a Commissioner on the Global Commission on HIV & the Law and on the Lancet Commission on Public Health and International Drug Policy. Stephen Lewis’ work with the United Nations spanned more than two decades. He was the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa from June 2001 until the end of 2006. From 1995 to 1999, Mr. Lewis was Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF at the organization’s global headquarters in New York. From 1984 through 1988, he was Canada's Ambassador to the United Nations.

From 1970-1978, Mr. Lewis was the leader of the Ontario New Democratic Party, during which time he became a leader of the Official Opposition. Mr. Lewis is the author of the best-selling book, Race Against Time. He holds 42 honorary doctorates from Canadian and American universities.

In 2003, Stephen Lewis was appointed a Companion of the Order of Canada, Canada’s highest honour for lifetime achievement. In 2007, King Letsie III, monarch of the Kingdom of Lesotho (a small mountainous country in Southern Africa) invested Mr. Lewis as Knight Commander of the Most Dignified Order of Moshoeshoe. The order is named for the founder of Lesotho; the knighthood is the country’s highest honour.

“Successful individuals desire things, and then get busy turning them into realities, while a lot of unsuccessful people wish from things, but then spend the rest of their lives wishing for them.” ― Edmond Mbiaka

We can all learn a thing or two from this quote, something to think about as you listen to this week's podcast.

Levelling up can be super hard for us to adjust to. Honestly, sometimes we want something but when we get it we feel like we aren't ready for it. I at this moment feel like this. I just got a new promotion and I am so scared to make my voice heard because I am so worried people around me will realise I don't belong here.

As leaders, we sometimes neglect our own needs and wants. It is important to practice self-care and to ensure that we are good stewards of our bodies before going and leading others. In this episode, I give an analogy of a cup of water and how the different levels of water in the cup can affect the way that we lead as well as the quality of work we produce. We briefly mention burnout and discuss ways to minimize the chances of it happening

If you are an international student you need to listen to this so you don't make the same mistakes that I did. The key thing in this podcast is to be informed and ask questions even the really silly ones. Not knowing something is neglect and it will still have effects. Know the laws for the country you are in. Trust me.

At the beginning of this season of Breakfast and Chit Chat with Ms Fadzo, we spoke a lot about growth and strategies for growing so I decided to challenge myself to be more intentional about consistency. In today's podcast, we talk about what that did for my business as well as what it means for me. At the end, we set a little challenge.

" In this week's episode we started with the premise “How to Turn A Slut into A Wife, ” we talked about how different the levels can be after you enter marriage. Moreover, we went into asking ourselves if a person should change their partner and the repercussions that may come from those request/ suggestions. We also discussed whether people should expect changes from their significant other once marriage comes into play. During this discussion, a lot of perspectives were given, for example: wanting changes because of pride, upbringing, and other cultural factors that may change our opinions. Lastly, we talked about whether sacrifices are a positive or negative thing in relationships… let us know what you guys think!" ---blurb by Ali

We all have had a situation where you had people who just didn't understand that fact that they needed to mind their own business and concentrate on things that are happening in their lives. We have also, I'm sure, reached a boiling point where constantly ignoring that things are happening and being the bigger man is becoming increasingly difficult. Well, ladies and gents I bring you solutions... SAVE YOUR BREATH. So people are really not worth the attention and by giving them a reaction you end up stooping to their level. Addressing things will not change anything so keep it moving and in the words of Selena, "kill them with kindness".

Motivation Vs Disciple What’s the difference?

”Motivation, broadly speaking, operates on the erroneous assumption that a particular mental or emotional state is necessary to complete a task. Discipline, by contrast, separates outwards functioning from moods and feelings and thereby ironically circumvents the problem by consistently improving them.

I like to think of discipline as “what to do” and motivation as “why to do. Discipline has a Latin root, but the gist is it’s about teaching. So I think of self-discipline as teaching yourself self-control and shaping your behaviour, so that you’re not a slave to your motivations.

A couple of months ago I found myself debt free and living my best life. Had just gotten a pay increase, with no debt to pay back I was feeling like a queen floating on a pink and blue cloud. The first month was fine, I managed to save about $150 that went to my Emergency Fund and the same for the second month. But you can probably tell from the way I'm talking that things went downhill from there.

Today we need to have a talk about the untold story of the silent beast and what to do when you have just gotten that extra bit of money dropped into your account. I will start by defining what lifestyle inflation is, some tell signs that you could look out for and ways one could avoid making this mistake.

Reading comes from John 15

The Vine and the Branches 15 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. 9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. 17 This is my command: Love each other.

Lesson: What are things we need to do to continue on this journey?

  • Remain in God (continue to seek his face and his righteousness)
  • Keep His commandments and remain in his love
  • Love everyone just as God has loved you
  • Jesus chose us and has appointed us. He has given us the tools to be fruitful in those areas and we can always ask Him for help if we need it
  • When we continue to seek God is a sign of faith that he has your back and you have nothing to worry about.
  • God (the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit) loves us, just as we are.

The God Who Sees, The God Who Lives

Reading come from Genesis 16 16 Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian slave named Hagar; 2 so she said to Abram, “The Lord has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her.” Abram agreed to what Sarai said. 3 So after Abram had been living in Canaan ten years, Sarai his wife took her Egyptian slave Hagar and gave her to her husband to be his wife. 4 He slept with Hagar, and she conceived. When she knew she was pregnant, she began to despise her mistress. 5 Then Sarai said to Abram, “You are responsible for the wrong I am suffering. I put my slave in your arms, and now that she knows she is pregnant, she despises me. May the Lord judge between you and me.” 6 “Your slave is in your hands,” Abram said. “Do with her whatever you think best.” Then Sarai mistreated Hagar; so she fled from her. 7 The angel of the Lord found Hagar near a spring in the desert; it was the spring that is beside the road to Shur. 8 And he said, “Hagar, slave of Sarai, where have you come from, and where are you going?” “I’m running away from my mistress Sarai,” she answered. 9 Then the angel of the Lord told her, “Go back to your mistress and submit to her.” 10 The angel added, “I will increase your descendants so much that they will be too numerous to count.” 11 The angel of the Lord also said to her: “You are now pregnant and you will give birth to a son. You shall name him Ishmael,[a] for the Lord has heard of your misery. 12 He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone’s hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward[b] all his brothers.” 13 She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen[c] the One who sees me.” 14 That is why the well was called Beer Lahai Roi[d]; it is still there, between Kadesh and Bered. 15 So Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram gave the name Ishmael to the son she had borne. 16 Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore him Ishmael.

Lessons learnt: 1. God's time at the best timing, there is no need for you to help God to fulfill the promise. 2. God will always give provision for the promises He has for us 3. What do we do while we wait for God to deliver on the promise? Sermon reference: "Wild Woman" by Sarah Jakes Roberts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rGxBxyKHf04. 4. God gives a promise and a process to follow the process. 5. God is the God who SEES (Ishmael means God hears), he is alive and is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Part 2: WALKING IN...

Reading comes from - Psalms 3 - Matthew 2: 19-23 - Matthew 3 -Genesis 4: 17-26 - Genesis 5 - Genesis 6

These passages highlight the different journeys that we as Christians can have with God; from being super happy ad having God claiming us to be His own to feeling scared and worried or angry. We all have different journeys and these passages assure us that although the road is narrow sometimes and we feel like we can't go on, God's promise will always prevail. They show us that when we get tired and can't go on anymore, God carries and takes us to the other side.

Life Update:

So I have been slacking and have really been struggling with self-discipline and I thought I would just talk about some of the things that I have been struggling with and by sharing them I hope we all can learn from them.

Important lessons I have learnt so far: 1. Every moment is a new opportunity to start all over again. 2. Disciple and consistency are besties 3. Little failure can become big failures if we don't learn from them

Let's talk about NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS

Today we will be having a conversation about new beginnings and the reading was coming from Genesis 1 vs 1 and the main message that you should treat each moment as an IN THE BEGINNING moment. When you feel like you have failed remember that you have another opportunity to start all over again.

Readings:

John 10:10 New King James Version (NKJV) 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Romans 3:23 New King James Version (NKJV) 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

1 Timothy 2:5 New King James Version (NKJV) 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,

Romans 5:8 New King James Version (NKJV) 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, today I confess with my mouth that I am a sinner and I believe that you are the Son of God. I believe you died for me on the cross and shed your blood for my salvation. I believe that God raised you from the dead. Today I call on your name. Jesus, forgive my sins and save my soul. Clean me now with your precious blood. I open my heart. Please come into my heart. I give you my life. I receive you now as my Savior, my Lord, and my God. I am yours, and I will serve you and follow you forever. Amen.

What's Next?

If you have said this prayer from your heart, congratulations, you are now a child of God! The key to growing in your relationship with God is to fellowship with others and attend church regularly.

  • Righteousness is doing what is right in the sight of God. This is a simple definition that is far more complex under the surface. To be righteous is to do everything that God calls us to do.

  • The Old Testament says that God is righteous. In Psalm 7:11a we read “God is a righteous judge.” The word righteous in the Hebrew is “tsaddiy” which means just, lawful, and correct. The word righteous in the New Testament comes from the Greek word “dikaios” which means observing divine laws or upright, faultless, innocent, and guiltless.

How do I pursue righteousness?

  • So we’ve covered what righteousness is,

  • Let’s finish with how we pursue it.

  • Pursuit of Gods Character

  • In 2 Timothy 2:22, Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

  • when Paul talks about turning from our lustful desires and pursuing righteousness, he doesn’t mean trying to earn or achieve it. He means pursuing God’s character, because it is the desire of our new nature become more Christlike.

  • Be born again: Christ is the bridge

  • Our relationship with God should be our first priority

  • How does worldliness turn our loyalty and service away from God? What are some ways we might be tempted to seek the things of the world before the things of God? (Answers may include waiting to pay tithing until after we buy the things we need or want or deciding not to serve a mission because of a desire for worldly things.)

Matthew 6 vs 25-34: Care and Anxiety

25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[5]? 28 "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you-you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Jesus promised that if we “seek … first the kingdom of God,” we will be given all other things that we need (Matthew 6:33). What experiences have helped you gain a testimony of this promise?

These are some of the things that I learnt in this year and I set a challenge for you for this week. - Battles won, start in the mind - Self-care comes first and is extremely important. - Mental Health is real and it will catch up to you if you don't take care of beforehand. - You need a strong foundation in God for some of the battles that will come your way. Read your bible and get those essential tools for war. - You can practice Christianity and still have a soul that cries for help. - Life is not about what you’ve done but what you are doing.

I pray you have an amazing new year and so much growth and success in every aspect of your life.

"Benedictine monk, Br. David Steindl-Rast, suggests that two qualities belong in our basic definition of gratitude. The first is appreciation: You recognize that something is valuable to you, which has nothing to do with its monetary worth. The second quality Br. David mentions is that gratitude is gratis: freely given to you. "- quoted from (https://gratefulness.org/resource/what-is-gratitude/)

Gratitude is so important and I encourage you to practice gratitude today. I am so grateful to all of you guys for the amazing moments that you guys have allowed me to share with you. Thank you for the support you show me this episode is for you guys...

Merry Christmas, have lots of food for me too.

This week we will be talking about some news about the hashtag "This is not consent" and explaining what consent looks like in everyday situations. Women all over the world are sharing pictures of themselves in their underwear on social media with the hashtag #ThisIsNotConsent to protest the release of a 27-year-old Irish man who was accused of raping a teenage girl. The man accused of the misconduct suggested that his interaction with the young lady was consensual because she was dressed in a provocative way. He said and I quote, “You have to look at the way she was dressed. She was wearing a thong with a lace front.” (Her underwear was displayed as evidence during the trial.

Since everyone and their friend are all up in my relationship status and I felt I need to just address some things. This week we are going to address why I'm single and what I'm doing in this season of singleness. That energy you hear in my voice is pure passion and sassiness. And Yes Auntie, I said what I said OKRUUUU. It's all love though and no people were harmed in the making of this episode.

The whole idea started because I just celebrated a big milestone...

"A couple of weeks ago was my monthiversary being debt free. When recording the episode for YOUR FINANCIAL WHY I came to the realisation that there are a number of people, myself included, that would benefit from a platform having conversations about money and finances. The goal of it (Money Mondays) is to educate young people on how to Acquire, Invest and Save Money. To answer any questions that you guys might have about all things money related.

Now a quick disclaimer, although I am taking some finance classes at university and love reading about ways of acquiring wealth, I don't claim to know everything about money management or financial fitness. If anything I need help as well in some areas, to be perfectly honest with you. I'm just tired of seeing a number of my friends having problems with money as a result of lack of knowledge. So I want to create something that allows people to have open conversations about money and give people the opportunity to learn from experts in different fields, that will be interviewed throughout the duration of the series. Find out how I got debt free in 3 months. From over $2000 in debt to almost $400 in savings. This episode lets you know how I did it with the understanding of what my financial WHY was and is. "Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will." -Dr. Robert Anthony

“There are two ways to build a career or a business. We can go through life hunting and pecking, looking for opportunities or customers, hoping that something connects. Or we can go through life with intention, knowing what our piece looks like, knowing our WHY, and going straight to the places we fit.” ― Simon Sinek, Find Your Why: A Practical Guide for Discovering Purpose for You and Your Team

Hie guys, a very warm welcome to my podcast; thanks for visiting. So this week, we will be discussing something I think is super important to talk about. I had a very interesting conversation with my Instagram fam about heartbreak with one specific question in mind. How do you get over someone you are in love with, especially when the reason you Break-up is something out of your control? In this podcast, I will share some of the responses I got and add my 2 cents on it as well.

Failing at anything sucks and talking about it is one of those things that was and still is a little embarrassing for me, but this platform was created for me to be transparent with you so you can hopefully learn from my mistakes. I spoke about my failure because I want to remind myself that things get better. That failure does not define the person or the purpose but rather it moulds and sharpens the individual.

I have been all over the place the last couple of months and it got me into a lot of trouble of late. After an unfortunate encounter, I came to the realization that sometimes faster does not necessarily me better. Slowing down and making strides rather than running all the time is important.
