Forgiveness is the key that frees us from the prisons of bitterness and anger and the Gospel says that freedom is possible in Christ! We will unpack what scripture says forgiveness is and consider 3 practices / habits of the hearts that we can walk with Jesus in as we look to forgive others.
Over the next few weeks we are goign to practice doing what Jesus did. Today we begin with: feeding our hearts with scripture, why? Because out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks (Matthew 12:34). We will consider ways in which we can develop the practice of memorizing, meditating on, and praying scripture so that our hearts our fed and God's Word is what we speak to ourselves, to God, and to others.
The fifth discipleship emphasis, Crucial Conversations, is divided into two parts: discipleship conversations with believers and evangelism. Today, we focus on evangelism.
The fourth discipleship emphasis is Radical Generosity. Those who are radically generous are radically free of the common hold that time, talent, and treasures can have over our hearts. Jesus can free our hearts towards generosity so that we can embody the Gospel and generously give to see others served and the Name of God glorified.
The second discipleship emphasis is Secure Identity. Upon receiving Chirst as Lord, we recieve the gift of a new identity as children, ambassadors and slaves of Christ.
Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, we are invited to a NEW LIFE with him. We are dead without Jesus, but by his grace we are made fully alive. The Good News of Jesus is not simply our debts being paid, but that we are invited to a new life of mission. A life dedicated to inviting others to be raised from death to life by the work of Jesus.
The weight of Christmas can be summed up in three short words: God with us. Why is that a reason for hope and rejoicing and how can we help others see God with us?
The church is a beautiful place to belong and to be sent from. Today we are invited to expand our imaginations about what it means to be sent from a church.
The church is not a commodity offering a product but a family bound by // built on covenant. One critical way we commit to one another is by letting our spiritual parents lead us and then become spiritual parents ourselves.
