Hello, awakening woman. This podcast is for you - the woman seeking more than Insta-perfect images and surface-level living. Ever wondered why you repeat patterns, don’t speak up and hate on yourself? Feel like you’re a melting pot of potential trapped in a hamster wheel life? Then join the conversation. Lisa Corduff, leading Australian transformational coach, leads women back into their personal power with conversations that connect in a way few others can. It’s time for a new conversation.
This is a reading of my Substack Series exploring why I felt I lost my voice the past few years. The feedback I received from these posts spurred me into action to create a new program called Back to You in Midlife and is for any woman who has lost a part of herself through this stage and wants to take a moment and reconnect with herself and what matters to her now and create more of what she wants (amongst the chaos!). How do you engage with big issues like AI and climate change when you're just trying to keep everyone fed and functional? In this conversation with philosopher Dr. Simon Longstaff, Executive Director of The Ethics Centre, I got answers that actually helped.
Simon makes ethics accessible and practical. He gave me permission to let go of trying to be ethically perfect (spoiler: it's impossible) and reminded me that small gestures - falling "just a little bit on the right side" over and over - can shift the world on its axis.
We talked about navigating "right vs right" dilemmas, what makes us distinctively human that AI can't replace, what skills our kids actually need, and why breaking patterns of "unthinking custom and practice" matters more than we realise. You're going to love this conversation.
Key Quotes:
"The real threat to us engaging in the world is not that we are powerless, but rather that we believe ourselves to be."
"Ethical perfection is not possible. Therefore you are liberated in some sense from thinking that that's what's required of you."
"Your heroism doesn't need to amount to the lofty gesture, but it can be in that area of just falling on the right side."
"Demand and offer the best reasons. Never accept things simply because everyone's doing it or it's always been done that way."

You know that feeling when you're scrolling through social media and everything starts to look... the same? AI-generated captions, templated posts, marketing formulas that feel about as authentic as a plastic rose? Yeah, me too. And it's exactly why I'm on my soapbox today about something I'm ridiculously passionate about: the absolute game-changing power of storytelling.
In this Lisa Bytes episode, I'm sharing why story isn't just nice-to-have content filler - it's the secret weapon that cuts through all the noise, especially in this age of AI everything. Plus, I'm getting real about my own journey from trying to outsource my voice (spoiler: epic fail) to discovering that being authentically me is actually what people want to hear.

Sometimes the most important conversations happen in the most unexpected places. In this episode, I'm sharing insights from a recent Ethics Center membership gathering that left me thinking about the massive shifts happening right under our noses - and why it's so important to be having conversations about them now.
From the collapse of trust in our post-reality world to the looming job disruption that's closer than we think, this episode dives into the uncomfortable truths about where we're heading. But don't worry - I'm not going full doomsday on you! This is about keeping our eyes wide open while still choosing joy, connection, and intention in how we navigate what's coming.

What happens when the skill you've spent decades perfecting becomes obsolete overnight? In this refreshingly honest conversation, I sit down with my long-time mate Karly Nimmo - a voiceover agency owner who's watching her entire industry disappear thanks to AI.
This isn't your typical "AI is scary" conversation. It's a real-world look at what's happening RIGHT NOW to creative professionals, and what it means for all of us as we navigate this unprecedented shift in how we work and live.
What We Discuss:
Uncomfortable Truths We Explore:
The Bottom Line:
This conversation isn't about whether AI is good or bad - it's about acknowledging that the train has left the station. The question isn't whether change is coming; it's whether you're going to participate in shaping what comes next or wake up one day wondering what happened.

Sometimes the most important conversations are the ones we avoid having. In this deeply personal Lisa Bytes episode, I'm sharing something that's been weighing on my heart - the collective grief we're all moving through right now, and why learning to acknowledge and process it might be one of the most important skills we can develop for what's ahead.
After living through Melbourne's world-record lockdowns and my own journey with grief after Nick's death, I've started to recognise that familiar ache when I think about climate disruption, AI's rapid advance, and how fundamentally our world is changing. We're experiencing loss in real time - and we need to talk about it.

When my son came home from school and told me the smartest kids in his class were discussing future careers had decided (smartly!) on being carpenters because "AI can't build houses yet," I knew we needed to talk about what this unique time means for our boys. So I sat down with Mikey Ellis - a friend whose work is crucially important - especially now. He curates men's circles and has a deep understanding and passion for working with our boys'. We dive into the big questions: Should we be worried? What do our boys actually need? And how do we raise them into their amazingness during one of the most uncertain times in human history?
This is an insightful and enlightening conversation - it's about understanding the unique challenges our boys face and the incredible opportunities ahead of them. Because here's the thing: they're going to be building the new world, and we get to help shape what kind of men they become.

Recently I saw something that stopped me in my tracks. A super smart business owner friend shared her success with AI-generated professional photos - they looked incredible, saved her thousands of dollars, and solved a massive problem that so many of us face. Hundreds of people wanted to know how she did it. Of course! It's expensive, time-consuming and a big fat cringe-fest for many of us to get professional headshots taken. Problem = solved. BUT it also got me thinking about what happens when we remove all the uncomfortable growth moments from our lives. Sometimes the hard stuff is where the magic happens - even when it feels like absolute torture at the time.

This conversation completely reframed how I think about the future. Lynn Casey is a futurist who works with companies like Mattel, Meta, YouTube, and Target, and she just got back from Stanford where she heard something from Gen Z students that blew my mind.
Instead of feeling overwhelmed by all the change happening around us, I walked away from this chat genuinely excited about what's coming next. Lynn helped me see that while we're panicking about problems, there's an entire generation stepping up who aren't trying to fix what's broken - they're building something entirely new.

In this episode, I'm addressing the elephant in the room: the uncertainty many of us feel about the massive changes happening in our world right now. This isn't about scaring anyone (promise!), but about finding ways to stay anchored when everything feels like it's shifting. From conversations with my teenage son about which careers might still exist in the future, to what I learned about staying grounded during my husband's recovery journey, I'm sharing my concept of a "daily prayer" - not in the religious sense, but as a grounding ritual that tethers us to what's real in a world that feels increasingly chaotic.

In this first episode of the new season, I'm sharing why THIS conversation matters right NOW - this strange intersection of climate disruption and technological revolution we're all living through.
From my days as a high school debater to creating sustainability TV shows to now navigating single motherhood, I've always been drawn to the big conversations. And right now? We're facing some of the biggest shifts of our lifetime.
I take you through my journey of freaking out about our climate reality and the AI revolution to finding a more empowered approach. The truth? I'm choosing to lead with love, live creatively, and stay REAL amidst all this change.
As women, we've known things were off - through our overwhelm, our kids' struggles, our health challenges, the impossibility of "doing it all" in a system designed for men. Now it's time to bring our voices to the table.
I'm not an expert in climate science or AI. I'm just someone fascinated by change, trying to make sense of it all while batch cooking on Sundays and managing school pickups. The contradiction is real!
As my late husband once wrote to me, we're "paving a road with rose fences." The road ahead is bumpy and uncertain, but what if we plant those rose fences as we go?

In this episode, I share a mind-blowing conversation with an Uber driver that perfectly captures why we need to be talking about these massive changes happening in our world RIGHT NOW.
This super-informed guy could talk for days about geopolitics and the "inevitable" collapse of civilisations, but completely dismissed climate change as a separate issue. Classic! But here's the thing - these massive disruptive forces aren't happening in isolation.
The train has left the station on both climate change and AI, and most of us haven't even realised we missed boarding.
Climate activists have shifted from "we can stop this!" to "how do we adapt?" after we hit that dreaded 1.5 degrees of warming last year. Meanwhile, AI is advancing at that "hockey stick curve" rate - slow progress for decades, and now suddenly BOOM - straight up exponential growth that's changing everything.
What happens when 75% of certain white-collar jobs simply vanish within months? When we can't trust if what we're seeing and hearing online is real? When our food systems start experiencing more disruptions?
I was completely oblivious until last year when I finally started paying attention again (blame the grief fog and solo parenting three kids!). But now I'm seeing what's happening and feeling weirdly liberated by acknowledging: yes, things ARE crumbling.
So let's stop pretending it's business as usual. Let's get creative, bring more women's voices to these conversations, and figure out how to walk this bumpy path together.
And maybe grow some veggies while we're at it (even if I'm historically a plant-killer!).

Lisa didn’t get the births she wanted for her kids. The first lesson in surrendering as a mother was in the birth of her eldest son.

Whilst in the shower, after a few quiet days of rest and reflection, Lisa hears a familiar voice in her head. 'C'mon. Get moving! You're wasting time'.
Do you hear this voice?
So many of us are on the hamster wheel of life, and have great difficulty slowing down to a stop. Even though we know we 'should', for some reason we just keep going around and around... almost afraid to stop because, well, what would happen?
Well, we know what happens when you don’t right? We burn out. So why persist with the constant doing?

Making a big decision like 'packing up your lives to go travelling for 5 months with 3 kids' is not something that most (or any) of us can do without our minds coming up with all the reasons why this might not be possible.
Let's be real. Most of us entertain thoughts like these but they don't go much further than the daydreaming.

It's coming to crunch time, and Lisa (like so many of us) is not known as a 'light packer'. But this trip is different. It's not just a 10 day holiday somewhere nice. It's five months with three kids in tow... and these kids need to be able to carry their own bags.
After much trial and error, Lisa's vision has been slightly amended and today she shares her vision for travelling light.
After losing her husband in 2019, then navigating her own grief (and that of her three young children) through Melbourne's endless lockdowns, Lisa was certain 2023 would be her year.
But life had other plans... some health issues with complications, business burn out and a freshly broken heart, Lisa started questions 'is this really it?'
And, of course, it's not. So Lisa is doing something radical. She's packing up her life, and her three kids, and heading on an overseas adventure to find her spark again.

This International Women’s Day Lisa is celebrating by sharing a frank and honest discussion with two of her favourite people.
Amy Taylor-Kabbaz and Samantha Sutherland are powerhouse women creating big waves in women’s well-being circles.
Amy is an Author and the founder of Mama Rising, the first Matrescence certification of its kind. She has broken new ground in our understanding and literacy of motherhood.
Sam is a sought-after Facilitator and Speaker whose mission is to assist women to lead fulfilling and joyful lives. She works with corporations on removing work barriers and with individual women on the systematic barriers they face each and every day.
In this conversation, you’ll hear anger, rage, hope, laughter, optimism, and sisterhood.
They discuss why they’re angry about where women are at right now, why it’s boring to still be angry about this stuff, and why there’s so much to look forward to in the coming years.
The system is rigged against women and when we are aware of that and can see ourselves as part of this rigged system - then we can create change.
It’s a juicy discussion. Share with your friends in solidarity and Happy International Women’s Day!

It’s a bit strange that the most common ‘model for change’ that we know of - the good ol’ New Year's Resolution - fails time after time after time and yet, we keep doing it!
Kind of like diets - people keep doing them and they don’t actually work for the long term.
While intention setting, getting clear on what we want, and aligning our actions to that is absolutely awesome, it’s also only a very small part of what it takes to create meaningful change.

Like many people, Lisa has found 2022 to be a bumpy year for a load of different reasons. In this episode, she shares what’s been going on behind the scenes and gets honest about what has helped the most.
As someone who has spent well over six figures on personal development and coaching and masterminding - Lisa moved away from that stuff this year to do completely different work on herself.
Gentler, quieter, more personal. Getting her to a more grounded, more honest, much more aligned position in her work and her personal life.
It hasn’t felt sexy or explosive - it’s been revelatory and often quite tiring.
But it has helped.
In an exclusive, live, two-week experience Lisa is sharing five tools she’s picked up along the way that helped her use her voice again, trust her inner knowing, honour the season she was in, dream bigger than she ever has (and take action towards things that REALLY matter) and meet herself lovingly in the messy middle.

For many years Lisa was detached completely from the concept of ‘pleasure’. She made three humans in five years and her body didn’t feel like her own. She was supporting her husband through recovery. She was running a business and became the sole-income earner for her family.
Life wasn’t bad, but it was adrenaline fuelled. And unsustainable.
The concept of life feeling ‘pleasurable’ or seeking pleasure for pleasure’s sake was not part of her reality!
But she chose to change that, intentionally and found deep personal and relational satisfaction through experiencing and expecting and inviting pleasure into her life.
What to lose!?
Listen to this episode as she shares about her now default ‘Pleasure Quotient’ so you can create one too!

Last Spring Lisa was still under intense lockdown restrictions in her home in Melbourne (like so many people were in Australia and around the world) and while these restrictions have been gone for a while, Lisa didn’t feel like she returned back to her ‘normal’ self.
There is no doubt that this pandemic has changed so much, for most people, and the dust is still settling. Who are we, what do we REALLY want, what’s working, what isn’t?
Lisa has been doing lots of reflecting on these kinds of questions and feeling her way into how she wants to work as her family enters a new stage of life.
She explores all this in today’s episode and shares that she is offering her most popular program, Ready for Change, at a sale price, one last time. For three days only.

Three years on from the shocking death of her former husband, Lisa reveals where things are at.
Sharing honestly about Father’s Day, when she misses Nick most, when he comes alive for her, the ways in which his death impacts the kids, why 2022 is the first year in which a ‘normal life’ felt possible and the best thing to have come out of the past three years (the answer might surprise you).
If you are experiencing a hard season, then this episode will both validate and inspire you. Big love = big grief and big growth.

Never miss an episode! Subscribe and listen on iTunes, Stitcher or Spotify. How does the quote ‘nothing changes if nothing changes’ make you feel?It used to trigger Lisa BIG TIME!In this episode she explores the idea that while all of us experience tough seasons in life - the key to navigating them with more ease might be far simpler than we think. And it doesn’t require waiting for anything around us to change! She shares the painful story of choosing to fly to Bali just days after news of her former husband’s death. And what this taught her about grief and joy.And any conversation about a woman changing and evolving and honouring her own needs (sadly) brings up the feeling this induces in so many women - guilt. Lisa outlines the universal comments she hears from women in her programs, and currently in the Feel Good Now Challenge, on guilt. She brings it all back to the original quote that triggered her. She believes at her core is that ‘nothing changes if you don’t change’. You hold the power to effect enormous change in your life BUT our collective conditioning, as women, to honour everyone else’s needs above our own and never commit to our own happiness in the way we do other people’s means that…. nothing changes. For true change to occur - we don’t need to wait for things to be OK around us, It’s always a YOU job! In this episode we've put together the best bits of a recent series I did on Facebook to Reset. I share 5 tools that will help you draw a line in the sand on the stress and overwhelm of the past few months, start reclaiming your headspace, and (dare I say it)... even start feeling good again. They’re all super simple and achievable. Most importantly of all, they WORK. They’re the exact tools that got me through last year, when I went through a marriage separation, becoming a solo-parent, and then the shocking death of my husband, all in the space of eight months.Put simple, they’re what saved my butt when I thought I was DONE.And they’re what have been getting me through the rollercoaster of 2020 (and the 7 million days of lockdown, but who’s counting?!)This audio is a shortened version. Over the weekend something happened that put me in a total spin. Well, for about fifteen minutes…You see, I’d planned a weekend away. A weekend without children, without agenda. Just for me.As a solo-parent I don’t get a lot of that. Though let’s face it, even parenting with someone, these moments of solitude are often few and far between for many. But I had a plan. My parents were taking the kids for two nights and I was giddy with excitement. In fact, I don’t think I even realised how giddy I was until Mum called the day before with the news that she and Dad were really unwell and they wouldn’t be able to look after the kids. The poor things were heartbroken not to be able to help and of course see their beloved grandkids.Tears started silently falling down my face as I felt my precious weekend escape slip away. And then I spiralled into all the stories that are so easy to spiral into……. I never get any time for me.…. No one understands how much I needed this.…. The school holidays feel unbearable without a break.…. POOR ME!…. 2020 WHAT THE ACTUAL F&K ARE YOU!?I gave myself the chance to feel all the feels. And then I did what has become common practice for me and for those that learn from me inside Ready for Change.I decided to take responsibility for the plans changing and seek solutions. Just because my PARENTS were unwell didn’t mean that there weren’t other options. You’ll learn all about the big mindset shift you can make when the chips are down. And how it can move you from victim of your circumstances to powerful creator of the life you want.Links:*Ready for Change WaitlistBack to You programFind me on Facebook and Instagram
Self-deception is a thing!
Many of us are champions at it. We can fool ourselves so well.
I thought I was connected to my kids because I spent time with them…I thought I was reflective and considered…I thought I had an intimate relationship…I thought I was on the path to success…
And it was only when things really began to unravel that I had to get radically honest with myself.
I was sleepwalking through my life, not willing to go deeper or scratch beneath the surface because I was so scared at what I might find.
That was until I did two things that started me on the path of my own awakening. And it’s been a remarkable journey of self-discovery.
On this week’s podcast episodeI share what they were (hint - I didn’t have DO anything different - I just needed to start SEEING differently).

I'm done with the story that it's selfish to take care of ourselves - to be the priority in our lives. I'm done with women feeling shame and guilt for resting when the house is untidy or there's work to be done. I'm done with the idea that we must sacrifice all for the people around us, at a massive cost to our health and wellbeing. In this episode I share why I hate the word 'selfish' and why you should banish it from your vocabulary!Links:The Conversations With Lisa playlistContinue the conversation with Lisa:Instagram | FacebookWant to help me out?Leave a review (um, and a hefty handful of stars!) here.
In this special episode we're revisiting a chat I had earlier this year with two women — Janine and Alecia — who have both created major shifts in their life using tools they learned in Ready For Change. In this conversation, we talk about:* Why letting go of ‘mum guilt’ is essential (and the crazy stuff that happens when you decide to prioritise your own needs) * How Ready For Change was the catalyst that saw Alecia lose 20 kilos, lower her cholesterol, and start doing outdoor activities with her kids that she never thought she’d be able to do * Why it’s so damn easy for women to postpone their own happiness, put everyone else first, and feel like “this is all there is” (and why that does NOT have to be your end game) * What happens to your family and your relationship when YOU change? (Both women have epic stories about the “spillover effect” of the program, and how the people around them — their kids! partners! mums! — began adopting new behaviours and communication techniques) * Why Ready For Change is one of the only online programs they’ve ever finished (this bit made me so happy!)
Alecia even shares how she thought the program “sounded silly” before she joined (I LOVED that she shared this), and why she’s so glad she overcame her initial hesitation and joined anyway. If you ever wondered what REAL people experience from Ready For Change (rather than just hear me bang on about it all the time!), you’re not going to want to miss this conversation.Links:Join Ready for Change at LisaCorduff.com/readyJoin the Conversation on Facebook or Instagram
It’s often in times of crisis that we discover new truths about ourselves...So what have these past few months of #craziness revealed about YOU? What have you learned about yourself, what you need, and how you function best? And most importantly of all, how are you going to create space for those needs, moving forward? In this episode, I reveal the 3 biggest things I’ve learned about myself during the covid shutdown. (#1 was a gimme, but #2 took me by surprise!)So what’s this conversation REALLY about?* Why I need time away from my kids… and why I don’t feel guilty about it * Who’d have thought I’d be doing more of THIS healthy habit during lockdown?! * Why it’s CRUCIAL that we reframe our need for rest (and why you deserve it, right now, no caveats) * How I find time for rest, even with 3 kids around * My current formula for deep relaxation (hint: there’s no Netflix, no phone, and no guilt!) * What do you want your ‘new normal’ to be, when this is all over? * How to make sure this time hasn’t been for nothing * What can you no longer ignore about your life?

Mindfulness can feel out of reach when you’ve got a to-do list as long as your arm and kids pulling you in all directions...But today’s guest, Fleur Chambers, is here to show us how a few simple reframes can help you find more moments of peace and zen in amongst the crazy.Fleur is a mindfulness and meditation teacher and creator of The Happy Habit app, who has supported over 600,000 people in 30 different countries to feel happier from the inside out.Her insights and realistic, real-mum strategies will inspire you to take action and prioritise your self-care — even if you’re used to putting yourself last, and even if you’re a recovering perfectionist. So what’s this conversation REALLY about? What a meditation practice looks like when you’ve got 3 kids (LOVE what she shares here!) * Are your expectations killing your chance at inner calm? Here’s how to let them go * Why “zen bliss” is NOT the goal of meditation * “If I can’t meditate properly, what’s the point?” and other ways that mums sabotage themselves * It’s okay if meditation feels really hard… here’s how to get better * The deathbed realisation that meditation can help us avoid * Do you actually like* yourself? If not, here's how meditation can help * How to stop getting so distracted * Powerful ways to strengthen your neural pathways * How Fleur hit rock bottom… and how she worked her way out of it
So if you’re after a no-BS conversation about what mindfulness REALLY looks like amongst the hubbub of daily life, and how to free yourself from crippling high standards and perfectionism, then press play — this one’s for you.Links:Fleur’s websiteFleur’s meditations on the Insight Timer appThe Happy Habit appThe Conversations With Lisa playlistContinue the conversation with Lisa:Instagram | FacebookYou can quote me on that:“We need to get better at flexing our self-care muscle, and gifting ourselves the time we need to prioritise it.” - Lisa CorduffWant to help me out?Leave a review (um, and a hefty handful of stars!) here.
Do you ever tell yourself stories about why you can’t do something?… “It’s too late for me to go back to uni.”… “I’m not cut out for the business world.”… “I can never seem to lose weight.”… “I can’t be a good mum if I’m working 40 hours a week.”In this short, punchy episode, I’m sharing a story that I used to tell myself about running a business while being a mother. (Spoiler alert: it involves me ugly crying in front of a room full of colleagues. Fun.)I’m sharing this personal anecdote because it’s SO easy to sabotage ourselves. We so often cut ourselves off from the things we truly long for, and build a whole identity about why we can’t do things…… and enough is enough. So what’s this conversation REALLY about?* “Is it too late for me to do X?” ← What to do if you’re asking yourself this question * The real reason we cut ourselves off from the stuff that we want * What I made “being a good mum” mean (and how I nearly sabotaged my entire life purpose) * The weird belief I picked up from childhood about “earning money as a mother” * What happens when we place our self worth outside of our own self * Why your worth is innate (and not tied to your job, income, or anything else) * How to wake yourself up and shine a light on your ‘stuff’

We’re still knee-deep in shutdown mode, so the kids and I have been shaking things up to inject some fun into our evenings… and absolutely loving the switch-up.Which got me thinking:… Why have we all bought into the idea that bath / dinner / bed is the “right” way to do night times (especially if it’s not working for you and your family)?… Who wrote the rules about what our lives are “supposed” to look like?… And what other areas of our lives are we subconsciously following these “rules” when there might be a better (and more fun) alternative? This episode is a short one, but it’s a biggie. When the shutdown ends, we’ll have a one-of-a-kind opportunity to draw a line in the sand and choose which routines and habits we want to take forward with us, and which ones we want to leave behind. So NOW’s the time to start getting intentional, and thinking about what you want your “new normal” to be...So what’s this conversation REALLY about? How we’ve shaken up our night time routine (and why the kids are having a ball) * The big question I’m asking myself, for when this shutdown is all over * What happens to your brain when you really want to create change * The truth about self sabotage (and why it keeps happening) * Are you attached to what 2020 was supposed* to be like? Here’s one way to loosen your grip * How to write your own rules for what your life looks like * Getting intentional about creating your “new normal”
So if you want to learn how to inject more joy into your day to day life, shed the stuff that’s not serving you, and start creating a new normal… this episode is for you.Links:Ep24: Caring For Your Brain During Times Of Crisis With Allison DaviesThe Conversations With Lisa playlistContinue the conversation with Lisa:Instagram | FacebookYou can quote me on that:“I don't want 2020 to be one of those years that just gets written off.” - Lisa CorduffWant to help me out?Leave a review (um, and a hefty handful of stars!) here.
Why is it so hard for us women to ask for help? And why do we feel bad admitting that we can’t do everything by ourselves? In today’s podcast, I’m peeling back the curtains on a big decision I made recently to call in help at home to get our family through this shutdown period with our mental health intact.I also wanted to get really honest with you about how worried I was about sharing that I had help, because I didn’t want to offend anyone or make anyone feel bad. (See how deep our social conditioning is, around getting help? Whew!) There’s clearly a lot to unpack in this hot button topic, so pop in those earbuds and let’s start a conversation...So what’s this conversation REALLY about?* Why it’s crucial to lower your standards for yourself sometimes * What constitutes a ‘win’ for me and the kids during the COVID-19 shutdown * Finding homeschooling tough? You are NOT alone. * Why are we so uncomfortable with calling in help? * The truth about how much help I’m getting at home (and why I was scared to record this episode) * The question that made me teary at the school principal’s office * Why we get uncomfortable when people offer help * Why ‘soldiering on’ is doing a disservice to yourself and other women * Plus so much more

The COVID-19 pandemic is affecting everyone right now, including our kids. Their eyes are trained on us — the ‘grown ups’ — as they try to navigate this strange terrain. And as a parent or family member, YOU get to help set the tone for them during this unusual time...So what do you want for your family during this period? And how can you be a leader for your kids during a crisis? This week, I uncovered some lessons on leadership from a most unexpected place… Winston Churchill. (Ha! Bet you weren’t expecting that!) As leader of his country during most of World War II, Churchill rallied the British people and led the country from the brink of defeat to victory...… and though it might not seem like a stuffy old British guy would have much to teach us about modern motherhood, you might just be surprised by the insights he can offer! So what’s this conversation REALLY about?* How to frame a crisis — like the coronavirus shutdown — in a way that your kids can understand * Why evoking a sense of destiny can help everyone through a hard time * How to get clear on what a ‘win’ is (and why this is so essential for your sanity!) * Why it matters so much what comes after this (and how to paint a vision of the future that gets you and your family excited) * Why taking action — even if it’s symbolic — is crucial for your family’s morale * Why I bought a bike… and why you might want to try something new too! * It’s okay to find the fun and humour in things. Here’s why. * How to maintain a strong relationship with the truth and with ‘what is’ * How I helped my son find joy in home learning (even though he’s really missing school) * Plus so much more

With the COVID-19 shutdown continuing to loom over us, have you got questions and doubts racing through your brain on a loop?‘How are we going to get through this?’‘How is this going to work?’‘How the heck am I going to homeschool my kids for a whole term?’‘How can I make sure everyone is okay?’‘How can I keep my head above water?’These are things I’ve been wondering about too.So in this episode, I wanted to share with you how I’m working through these questions, and offer a powerful reminder about how strong you really are...So what’s this conversation REALLY about?* Why you can't be everything to your children (and why that’s okay!) * Are you fighting what’s going on? What if you chose surrender instead? * Why acceptance is key to riding out this situation * The important question I’m asking myself right now, to make sure I’m in a good headspace * What if you’re worried because you don’t know how this is going to work? * Why you need to stop expecting yourself to ‘fix things’ for everybody else * The playlist that’s keeping me upbeat and helping me feel my feelings

And do you sometimes feel like you’re a ‘bit player’ in your own life?If you’re nodding your head right now, you are not alone — so many women struggle with these exact same blocks. That’s why this conversation with today’s podcast guest, Sam Nolan-Smith, is so important. It was back in 2013 when I first discovered Denise Duffield-Thomas. Back then, I had absolutely no purpose and I didn’t really know what I was doing and I stumbled upon Lucky Bitch (Denise’s original brand). I absolutely loved it. I thought, this woman has it got it together. I promptly devoured everything she’s done since then and I am so excited to have her as a guest on the podcast this week.In this episode we talk about how Denise became one of the most successful business women in the country by using and teaching her techniques around mindset and money. From a newlywed in London, hating her job and feeling down in the dumps about life, she made a massive change by tweaking her thought patterns. It all started with her winning a travel competition and everything took off from there. She got luckier and luckier (using her mindset techniques) and everything just kept falling into place. So what is the episode REALLY about?Key takeaways* The importance of positive thinking and how it truly has an effect on what you get out of life. * How having children can be the fast track to personal development rather than a life stopper as most people assume - Denise’s mantra is babies bring abundance! * The importance of boundary setting in your work. * How more success doesn’t necessarily mean more work - in fact it’s usually the opposite. * Getting over money blocks like earning more than your partner or being too afraid to hustle. * Getting over the mentality that you have to work yourself into the ground in order to earn the type of money you want - it doesn’t have to be like that! * Getting over the fear of charging for your services and charging what you’re worth.
If you’re looking to change your life, mix up your career or do something huge with your life, this is the episode for you.
There's a difference between a guru and a mentor. So many of us can hand over our power believing that someone else has the answers for us. A good mentor helps you finds the answers in yourself. In this episode I share the many forms mentors can take and some of the key mentors throughout my life. I also talk to the discomfort of being seen as a mentor by others and how I've moved past that.If you're looking for a life-changing free training from one of my most recent mentors, Jim Fortin, then get access here.
This a very special, VERY candid episode with my lovely friend Shalome who is also the creator of Rockstar Birth Magazine and an advocate for all things WOMB POWER!Shalome brings a refreshing, in-your-face voice to the birthing world. Her message is not just about birth. It's about womanhood. It's about power. It's about who we are as beings. Rockstar Births came from Shalome’s passion for birthing and telling real stories and empowering women no matter what kind of birth they have. It’s about being in control, feeling respected and feeling heard regardless of what kind of a birth you have.Shalome has 3 kids of her own and is no stranger to giving birth. In this episode we talk about the importance of harnessing your power and staying in control when your birth doesn’t happen the way you intended it to.So what is the episode REALLY about?Key takeaways* How research and taking control of your own journey can change your whole birthing experience. * How the empowering journey as a woman starts with menstruation and how we should as women teach our daughters to celebrate this milestone. * How important it is for women to truly understand their bodies - Shalome didn’t even realise what her period WAS until she was about 25 years old! * How damaging the language is around birth and pregnancy and how we need to flip the script. * The importance for women as individuals to understand what they want from their birth and how to get it.

Today’s guest is the wonderful Robin Long from The Balanced Life. I HAD to have Robin on the show because she’s an unsung hero in the fight against motherhood guilt. She has a busy family life with four children, runs her business and encourages her students to embrace grace over guilt. How good does that sound? It’s hard enough trying to balance work and parenting but when you’re the face of a fitness business, the stakes are somewhat higher. People expect more of you but the truth is, we’re all in the same boat and a pilates professional truly isn’t any better than the the motherhood game than you are, I promise! This is a chat about balance, motherhood and what it takes to really try to ‘have it all’.So what is the episode REALLY about?Key takeaways* The severe consequences that happen when you ignore your need for rest. * The frightening statistics on just how many women are dealing with burnout. * The clues you might be suffering adrenal fatigue, for example feeling worse not better after a workout. * The importance of going gently and trusting your own body. * If a mum with a business and four kids can take a few moments out of the day to take care of herself, you can do it too! * The small steps approach and how it’s the only sane way to keep it all together. * Getting back to basics and how it can make decision making a lot easier. * How it’s impossible to go from 0 to 100 and that’s why a lot of people fail at introducing exercise into their lives because they try to overdo it. * How even fitness professionals skip workouts!
If you’re in need of an inspiring listen today, pop this in your ears.

In this special episode I’m chatting with two women — Janine and Alecia — who have both created major shifts in their life using tools they learned in Ready For Change. In this conversation, we talk about: Why letting go of ‘mum guilt’ is essential (and the crazy stuff that happens when you decide to prioritise your own needs) * How Ready For Change was the catalyst that saw Alecia lose 20 kilos*, lower her cholesterol, and start doing outdoor activities with her kids that she never thought she’d be able to do * Why it’s so damn easy for women to postpone their own happiness, put everyone else first, and feel like “this is all there is” (and why that does NOT have to be your end game) * What happens to your family and your relationship when YOU change? (Both women have epic stories about the “spillover effect” of the program, and how the people around them — their kids! partners! mums! — began adopting new behaviours and communication techniques) * Why Ready For Change is one of the only online programs they’ve ever finished (this bit made me so happy!)
Alecia even shares how she thought the program “sounded silly” before she joined (I LOVED that she shared this), and why she’s so glad she overcame her initial hesitation and joined anyway. If you ever wondered what REAL people experience from Ready For Change (rather than just hear me bang on about it all the time!), you’re not going to want to miss this conversation.Doors are open now. You don't have to wait for your circumstances to change in order to feel good. In fact, if you are doing that you are keeping yourself in a perpetual state of disempowerment, with no idea how to truly create a life that feels good.I get that this is a confronting concept. I am a recovering co-dependent. I existed to make other people's lives better. I thought my actions had an impact on the behaviour of people around me. I took responsibility for them, for me - all of it.I thought my life would change if certain outcomes were achieved.I was wrong.Life changed because I changed. From the inside. This episode explores how you can start taking action TODAY (no matter your circumstances) to feel happier ... and rise.Register for the free workshop here

Have you wondered why you often repeat behaviours that are destructive or unhealthy? You keep doing it even although you know it's not serving you?On today's episode I share about my addiction to salty chips. I’m not sure how long ago it was but some time in the not too distant past, there were a few nutritionists and experts who started REALLY caring about what we fed our kids.To be clear, we’ve always cared about what we feed our kids but these experts went to the next level. They researched additives, salt, sugar, eating behaviours and the effect of poor nutrition on the development of our kids. One of those people, one of those original pioneers was Francine Bell, the Managing Director of Additive Free Kids, food coach, mentor and one of Australia’s leading activists against additives in foods.Frankie is a mum to 5 boys (yikes!) and has personal experience working through the damaging effects of additives to resolve the multiple health issues and behavioural problems in her own children. It became Frankie’s purpose to help other families achieve the same improvements for their families. These changes can be overwhelming, especially for time poor parents, Frankie has done all the hard work for families to ensure they have access to additive free food, anytime, anywhere. However the journey to going additive free never runs smoothly. Francine has endured much skepticism along the way and that’s been a (pretty big) challenge on this journey. So what is the episode REALLY about?Key takeaways* The shift from making fresh baby food to throwing convenience foods at toddlers and how to avoid it. * Being a pioneer in your field and facing adversity from a mainstream society who think you’re taking things too far. * The instant change in toddler behaviour when additives are introduced to their diet. * If you can’t understand a word on a box of food you’re going to give your kid, you probably shouldn’t give it to them. * What it’s like to continue to beat a drum when no one wants to hear your message. * The importance of making that difficult change and the extraordinary benefits that await you. * The emotional toll that takes hold when you’re advocating for something that not too many people know about.
If you’ve been hanging around these parts for a while, you’ll know I’m obsessed with stories. The stories we tell ourselves. They’re right there under the surface. Those stories of your life, everything that you believe to be true. The stories informing everything that you do. The decisions you make, the interpretations that you make about the world, other people and why you do or don't make decisions. These stories, they've literally got you. That term is important, because they've really got you by the balls. Not to be crass, but let’s call a spade a spade. My absolute mission is to wake everybody up to the fact that so much of what you're telling yourself about what's possible for you and who you are actually changes your life.We also need to be wary of the stories OTHER people tell about us. For example... if you’re a Capricorn, Year of the Dog, INFJ, Intuitive, Alchemist. People are constantly trying to define us and we hear these things and that changes the way we look at ourselves. So what can do about this?Key takeaways from this episode:* Unpacking what other people say about you (too loud/spoilt/domineering) and flipping the script. * The things we say to our children and how they take on those traits. For example ‘I’m not good at following instructions.’ when they’ve been told consistently how they’re not good at following instructions. * Understanding that just because you’ve never done something before doesn’t mean you can’t do it. * We all ‘brand’ ourselves. What’s your brand? What’s the story about you that sell to other people when you meet them? * Just because you’ve embraced your chaotic/perfectionist/minimalist/ditzy existence doesn’t mean you’re married to it. You can change your habits.
It is possible to shift to these things. Maybe someone put their hand on your head when you were in school and called you an apple (or an orange or a banana) and ever since then, you've been an apple. And you don't have to be an apple. It's actually kind of random that you were chosen as an apple. And you've made being an apple a thing for your whole life. It's fascinating when we drill down into this stuff. I’m encouraging you to have your wake up moment, so you can step forward into your personal power. And realise you don’t have to be an apple. You can be anything you want to be.
The arrival of 2020 has brought with it a bizarre energy here in Australia. With despair and heartache at the bushfire crisis to witnessing the strength of community and a coming together of our nation like never before. In this podcast I share about why practical actions in our individual lives can make a really big difference when we feel helpless in the face of a national and global crisis.I talk about how disengaged I had become over the past five years from current affairs and issues outside the scope of my family, business and interests. And what I’m listening to daily to get a quick and comprehensive low-down!I also reveal how, as a business, myself and the team will be donating every dollar made from the Small Steps Membership in January to the Bushfire Appeal and welcoming new members in so they can empower themselves with tools to reduce their footprint via the food they eat. Details here: https://smallstepsliving.com/sslThis conversation is an honest reflection on how impacted I have been by the bushfires and how I plan to play my part in helping.(You'll also hear about the TV show I created back in 2007 - which was a little ahead of it's time...!)
When I asked my friend Emily Aarons for a Conversation on Intuition, I had no idea we’d end up where we did! This is the best part about being in Conversation and just letting things roll.I mean, if you want to know what it takes for a soul to evolve, you might want to listen to Emily’s theory. Or find out why there is never a bad or wrong move you can make in your life - you are never ‘off your path’..And did you know there’s four main ways we receive messages (or nudges) from our intuition? I had no idea and could very easily pick which ones did and didn’t relate to me.I also love the crazy simple advice she gave about how to build your intuition muscle, and not only that - start trusting it.Honestly, get into this episode even if you’re not on a spiritual path of any kind. I just adore listening to women share their truth, as it helps me find my own.
In this episode, I dive into conversation with my amazing friend Lisa Carpenter, reflecting on the epic and transformative year that was 2019. It has felt like about a decade, all rolled into one. So much growth through a total shit storm.Lisa Carpenter and I take this opportunity to banter, dissect, and attempt to pull out the biggest lessons so that you can learn from them too. It’s been a big one for me in a million ways and I want to take this moment to say thank you to you for being part of this community. Being in conversation with YOU is one of the most enjoyable and privileged aspects of my life.I don’t take your presence lightly and I hope that we can all rise into 2020 with peace, power and purpose.I believe in you. I believe in the collective rising of women.Key takeaways:* The key to being okay is to really know and take responsibility for the fact that no one else can take care of you the way you can take care of yourself. * You can navigate the fine line of caring deeply whilst remaining unattached. * Trusting that things are going to work out better than you ever could have imagined is harder than living in your frustration and trying too hard.
Bringing this episode to life is Elton John’s I’m Still Standing. It’s obviously a timeless classic, but the meaning for me has changed over the years. I used to sing along and think “But how?? How am I still standing with all of this going on?” I relied on my high-functioning tendencies and my ability to ‘push through’ and thought that I was doing okay. Ummm... thanks, shingles, for letting me know that I definitely wasn’t okay! So pushing through is not the message of this episode. These days, I know why I’m still standing and it’s because I prioritise rest. I’ve got space in my life to do nothing. And absolutely no guilt about that. How much space to rest, really rest, do you have in your life? What do you tell yourself about resting? In this episode, I share three ways that I’ve incorporated more rest in order to still be standing. Plus, I’ve also got a stack of questions to help you try to break through that thought barrier of “but there just isn’t enough time to rest.”As my mentor, James Wedmore says The Rest Is The Work!!Key takeaways* Sleep is essential to good health and happiness and the more consistently we get ourselves to bed, the more our bodies love it. For me and my circadian rhythm, bed in the 9s is what feels good so I can be up and energised around 5 or 5:30 am. Have you figured out what bedtime feels good for you and your body? * When you strip away all the activities and commitments and make real space to do less, you create an opportunity to consciously build back in the things that feel good, the things that don’t disrupt the level of peace and rest you’ve achieved in your house. * You don’t have to go to a meditation retreat to get the benefits of rest. Creativity and inspiration might be heightened when in holiday mode, but who says that has to stop when you get back home? If you enjoy that feeling and want it in your everyday life, you’ve got to get responsible for bringing it in.

Welcome to a new conversation.I took a deep, steadying breath as I pressed record. This a conversation that bears witness to the love I shared with my husband, partner, friend and co-parent, Nick. It’s an exploration of how our relationship changed, how two people in love courageously decided to separate, the grief I experienced over the evolution of my marriage, and the loneliness we can feel when we know our relationship isn’t healthy. This was painful for me to share - that’ll be obvious from all the crying. I’m sorry if it’s awkward to listen to in parts. But I know in my heart that there will be women out there who need to hear it. This is for the woman who feels she can do something to make it better for her partner, who longs for it to be better. You are not alone. You are brave and you can choose bravely what you need for your life.Links and Resources:Song: We Belong | Pat BenatarBook: Women Who Love Too Much | Robin NorwoodConnect with Lisa on Facebook and Instagram
Welcome to a new conversation. This is my maiden interview for the show and I think you’re going to love it. If you don’t already know my friend, Alisa Latto, you’re in for a treat! She’s a wise and powerful woman, and quite simply, I just like listening to her talk! Such a thrill to have her with me on the show as we get right into what a relationship separation is really like. So much of this is about our personal power so even if you’re in a happy, stable relationship, there is wisdom here for you.It was an Instagram post by Alisa that got me fired up about this conversation. She shared the fiery words of Rachel Martin (@finding_joy) that called BS on the term ‘a product of divorce.’ It got me thinking about all of the meanings we give to separation and divorce. Meanings for us, for our ex-partners, for our children, for our extended families. And usually, we slap these meanings on before a separation has even been discussed! Often, those preconceived ideas about what separation will mean keep us stuck; too afraid to pursue what it is we need to be happy. That could be leaving a relationship or it could just be a brave and vulnerable conversation. This conversation is both about walking the road of separation and our power to choose what it will mean for ourselves and for our children.Key takeaways: When you get to the point of leaving a marriage, it’s actually incredibly uncomfortable for everybody else*. Those close to you may want you to be more okay or less okay to fit in with their own ideas about the grieving process. Your pain may make them aware of the pain they are avoiding. They may not be capable of holding space for your grief as time goes on. * When you leave a marriage or long term relationship, you grieve equally over the loss the person you’re separating from and the dream you had for your life together. * Over the lifetime of a marriage, there are a million micro-decisions that are made taking someone else’s opinion into consideration. When that marriage falls away, you have a new opportunity to recreate yourself. It can be unsettling to not know who you are without your marriage but it’s an opportunity to get clear on what actually brings you joy. * You can bring your energy back to yourself at any time. You don’t need to wait for your marriage or relationship to be ending to ask yourself where you are most centred and where you don’t want to bend and sway so much anymore. * Divorce never has to define our children. We can use our language, communication and empathy to provide whatever meaning we choose. You don’t have to accept the idea that these defining moments need to define our kids.

Welcome to a new conversation.I’ll be honest, this episode took a while to coax out of myself. I knew wholeheartedly that it was time for these convos to come to life, but I struggled to know just how to start them. That was until I received a fun idea from someone close to me that involved Fleetwood Mac. Done. Boom. I was off and racing. In this conversation, I delve into just a few of the reasons we don’t walk our own path - or go our own way. Almost all of the women I’ve met through my programs have been ready. Ready for growth. Ready to do things differently. The status quo has stopped feeling okay and they want to shake things up. Yet so many of those same women, although ready to do things differently, don’t take the next steps. Nothing changes for them.If you’ve been ready to do things differently in an area of your life but find yourself not taking the steps needed for change to happen, then I’m here to give you a gentle wake up. I’ve laid out some signposts for you in this episode so that you can begin to understand what’s holding you back from going your own way.Once you’ve enjoyed the episode, reflect on these questions and let me know which one is holding you back from going your own way:Do you give yourself full permission to go your own way?Do you trust yourself enough to honour your intuition and inner knowing?Do you recognise that you might have choice in areas of your life where it doesn’t feel as though you do?Are you letting fear drive?Key takeaways:* We don’t go our own way because we have difficulty trusting ourselves. We outsource our inner knowing, believing that those around us know better than we do, or have more experience and therefore know something we don’t. * We don’t go our own way because we don’t recognise the incredible amount of choice we have in our lives. Without an awareness around what we are and are not choosing, we’re unable to step fully into our power. * We don’t go our own way because we are allowing fear to drive. We don’t realise that we’re bigger than the fear. If we want growth, we’ve got to change our relationship with fear. We’ve got to recognise it, honour it for doing its job, and then put it back in its place. * Fear will always be with us, it’s inbuilt into the human experience, but its purpose is to keep us safe. What’s holding us back from growth is being afraid of things that don’t actually cause us harm, they just take us outside of our comfort zone. * We think we know ourselves but what we actually know is the stories we habitually tell ourselves.

After a comment by one of her mentors, she was sent on a journey of looking at where in her life she was hoping things would be different and not being present to what was. Listen in as she talks this out and provides you with three common examples of how this might be playing out in your life.

If you'd like to as well - head here.
In this episode Lisa talks about how we are going about things all wrong! We attempt to create change in our lives without fully understanding what that requires. We wear 'busy' like a badge of honour and believe we have no choice about the hamster wheel we've found ourselves on. We have created lives that are unsustainable and in this episode Lisa shares why transforming your life will never happen while you're juggling all the balls - and exactly what to do instead.
In this episode Lisa talks bout how one of the hardest things when you're trying to get yourself back on track with food, exercise, your vibe, is to switch that negative voice in your head. To switch from 'woe is me' to GO IS ME!Over the past few years she has deep dived into the world of mindset and has literally changed the way she thinks.Listen to this episode as she shares the biggest nuggets of gold - that will get you humming again. Enjoy!
In this episode Lisa discusses how so many of us refuse to see the reality of the situation we are in. We know things have to change but we are so busy berating ourselves for not having it together that we have forgotten what's most needed. If you want to change your life you have to get honest about right now. Listen to hear the most powerful question she asks herself when she needs to start getting back on track.
Some people set intentions, some set goals, some people choose a word for the year. In this episode Lisa talks about her word for 2019 and how she uses that to guide her actions.
One of the biggest struggles many women have when it comes to changing their habits with food is bringing the people around them along for the ride. Meet the man who busted me out of all my stories! Excited to share an interview with you for Episode 2 in the Stories that Keep You Stuck series. I interview Jim Fortin about the story of 'I've got no time'. There is so much gold in this episode - listen in now.
When I woke up to the fact that a lot of the 'truths' of who I am, what's possible (and what isn't!) are mere stories that I've created throughout a lifetime of making interpretations - I discovered my power. So many of these stories have kept me stuck. Not only that - I've built a life around stories (or beliefs) that have become really bad habits! It was time to recognise this and do something about it. Because I don't want to feel limited. I bet you don't either. Enjoy Episode 1 in the four-part series - Stories that Keep you Stuck.
After a recent trip to the US Lisa shares the message she received while doing a guided meditation. It was a profound moment that has changed the way she will approach business, life and motherhood. Lisa felt the need to share the message because she's not the only woman feeling like she's holding it all together. Not the only woman who pushes herself a little (a lot!) to achieve. Not the only woman who feels that while she has support, the bottom will fall out of her life if she stops for a breath. Her Granny delivered her a message that had her crying a river of tears while sitting in a room full successful entrepreneurs - without tissues. It was NOT pretty! "Sit down, my darling", she said. "Just sit down". Listen to this episode to find out exactly what this message meant for Lisa.
I am not sure there is a bigger parenting challenge for me than knowing how to navigate my kids big emotions. That feeling of wanting to make everything better for them - but knowing this is something they need to work through - kills me! The amazing Sarah Boyd is an expert on building resilience in kids and we had the most fascinating chat. Listen in to hear about: - What resilience is (I have never heard a description like Sarah's) - Why, as parents, we need extra tools to navigate brand new challenges - Why we need to allow our kids to experience negative emotions - A stunningly simple solution that will reduce anxiety and shift kids who are overwhelmed in an instant (I think I said the words "this idea has just changed my life"!!)
The Small Steps living podcast is now an audio version of Small Steps TV. You can check out Small Steps TV on Youtube, my Facebook page or the SmallStepsLiving.com website. But sometimes we don't have the time to watch. So here is your chance to listen to the latest episode of Small Steps TV. In this episode, Lisa dives into the question: What is your overwhelm protecting you from? Sound bizarre? Listen in to hear Lisa guiding you to bust through some big stuff.
Lisa has been getting a strange feeling as she's been delivering these episodes. It seems bizarre because it's counter-intuitive. We almost seem to have resistance to reducing overwhelm. Who are we without our overwhelm? If we IDENTIFY as being overwhelmed - we will find any way we can to prove that's exactly what we are so we keep getting overwhelmed! But what a disservice we are doing ourselves by thinking this is a given. And why is it that people get their backs up when she says it can be different? It is possible to reduce your overwhelm. It absolutely is. Listen to find out how.
Decluttering and simplifying are such buzzwords right now. For a damn good reason! Most of us have too much stuff, too much on, too many distractions from what's important. But we have NO IDEA where or how to start this process. The task seems too huge. As someone whose home was a reflection of her inner chaos for a very long time, I invite you to watch this episode in the Overwhelm Series. I share exactly why your brain hates the clutter and the best places for you to start.
Lots of light bulb moments went off for the viewers in the first episode in the Overwhelm Series of SmallStepsTV. My hope is that we begin to recognise we have a choice about overwhelm and hopefully sharing what I did about our identity on Wednesday night goes a way to shift our ideas around it. Because things in our life ONLY CHANGE when we change. I'm looking forward to sharing more practical aspects of reducing overwhelm in the next episode of this series - Why your brain hates clutter - and my top places to start.
How to bust out of indecisiveness (if you're feeling stuck) In today's episode I get honest about my difficulty with making decisions and share two ways that I have become a decision making machine! Getting better at making decisions and trusting outcomes has meant I'm able to create change in my life quickly and with far LESS of that horrible over-thinking spiral. You know it - the mind chatter that leaves us paralysed. Lose that for good with these simple strategies!
Truth is, Lisa finds the constant energy of her son tough! It's boundless. He's like a puppy who needs to be run around a lot. And that's fine - he is run around a lot, but they can't live at the footy oval or park. They have a small house and back garden, so she and Nick have found ways to engage and occupy their boy and even get him doing household chores without complaint! Enjoy this episode where she shares three solutions to a more peaceful and productive boy (and happier household!).
In this week's episode Lisa talks through why waiting to feel motivated could be holding you back from achieving your goals and what you could try instead. Most of us find it difficult to create new habits - there's a stack of reasons for this (none of them your fault!) but if you're seeking a simpler, more nourishing and enjoyable life, as Lisa is then sometimes you need to find hacks to get things moving. Enjoy this episode where Lisa reframes the 'need for motivation' in order to create change.
Lisa is back where she grew up and recorded this episode from her (hot) car! She'd noticed all the changes around her and the feelings that came up because of this. She poses questions to you about whether you resist or embrace change and shares the method she uses to help Small Steps Members create change that sticks. She had more to say but her phone over-heated and stopped working! Meet my remarkable friend Karly! Who is letting her grey hair grow out. Gone is the bright red she has been dying it for years and in comes her natural colour - grey! Karly is 40 and is embracing Going Grey Ungracefully. In this episode we talk about who that makes her feel, other people and the importance of knowing you've got choice in EVERYTHING in your life. It will make you laugh and offers a big dose of inspiration to show up on YOUR terms. The Small Steps Living podcast is now an audio version of Small Steps TV. One of the biggest challenges when I started my wholefoods journey was the cost of ingredients - or even getting hold of them in the first place. In this episode I 'unbox' the order I received from The Wholefoods Collective last week, and talk through the benefits of being able to buy pantry staples with ease (cheaper than retail prices!) wherever you are in Australia. But I know that sometimes we don't have the time to watch. So here is your chance to listen to the latest episode of Small Steps TV. In this short episode I share my perspective about what to do when you feel 'heavy'. I'm talking literally AND figuratively. Now, you know I'm not a nutritionist but I do know what to do when I'm feeling my jeans button getting a little tighter.... I eat better and I move more. For me, eating better means letting go of some cheeky habits that can creep in and eat more fresh food. It means letting go of night time Netflix sessions so I'm not too tired for a morning walk. It means choosing veggies over bread. You get the drill. Simple. But what about when you're feeling all 'weight of the world on your shoulders'? What about when life feels heavy and toxic? Well, there's actually quite a simple solution...listen to find out.
