For our next sermon on the Acts of the Apostles, Austin preaches about verses 14 to 41. After receiving the Holy Spirit the Apostles are radically changed. The same people who less than two months prior fled and abandoned Jesus are now proclaiming the Gospel in front of thousands of others. The Holy Spirit empowered them using Scripture to proclaim that the savior of the world had come and for the salvation of world!
We pick up where we left off last week in Acts 2:1-13, the arrival of the Holy Spirit. In the reading for the day, we once again find the apostles gathered together in prayer during the feast of Pentecost. Suddenly the Holy Spirit comes upon them like tongues of flame, gifting them the ability to speak in a multitude of languages. From this reading we can see that God desires that all people should be able to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
We pick up where we left off last week in Acts 2:1-13, the arrival of the Holy Spirit. From this reading we can see that God desires that all people should be able to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
In this week's sermon in the book of Acts, we read about the disciples' return to Jerusalem after Jesus' ascension. Rather than immediately going out to the nations to proclaim the Gospel, Jesus commands the apostles to remain in the city and to wait. As Christians, we often are called to wait for God's timing. But what does that mean? In his sermon, Austin points out how the disciples model a better kind of waiting.
To kick off our series in Acts, Josh preaches through the first eleven verses of the book! What we see in our verses today is that through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, we are called to be witnesses. Josh lays out what it means to be a witness of the Gospel and what we are supposed to look like as a witness.
Before we kick off our sermon series in the book of Acts, we first take a week to study the Lord's prayer in Matthew 6:9-13. During Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches the crowd how they should pray to God. In today's sermon, Austin breaks down how this simple prayer teaches us so much about our relationship with God the Father and how we should talk to Him!
For our last sermon in Psalm 51, Austin teaches us what it means to have a truly "broken and contrite heart." Sin has a cost. When David brings an offering to God for his sin, though, he doesn't bring a burnt offering. Instead, he brings a heart broken by what he has done. To be broken and repentant over our sin means acknowledging that we needed to be made clean and to turn from our sin!
For our third sermon covering Psalm 51, Skyler teaches us the answer to the ultimate question: "What is the meaning of life?" For as long as humans have walked the earth we have wondered what possibly could be our place and purpose in the 80 short years that we have. But as David and Skyler point out in Psalm 51 life isn't about us. It's about God's glory!
In the second sermon of our Psalm 51 series, we see a major shift from David's writing. As Austin points out in his sermon, David boldly asks God to look past his sin and blot out his transgression. Not only that David asks that the Spirit of God would fill him with joy! The question is, when we are confronted with our own sin, do we respond in the same way as David?
We are kicking off a new series this week while we memorize Psalm 51 as a church! For our first sermon, Josh walks us through the first 6 verses of the psalm while giving us some context on why David is writing it. This comes at a point in David's life where he is confronted with the deepness of his sin by the prophet Nathan. In Nathan's confrontation, we begin to see just how pervasive sin is in our own lives!
For this week's Heart of God sermon, Tom Rempel preaches through the book of Amos. Written to the northern kingdom of Israel shortly before their defeat by the Assyrians, Amos is a book of warning and woe to the people. God has seen how the nation has failed to remain faithful to Him once again, and He will now have His justice. But, He also promises that the people will one day be restored.
As we continue in our Heart of God series, we pick up today in the book of Joel. Being only three chapters long, Joel is one of the shorter books of the Old Testament, and when we see that it once again is a book of judgment against Israel, it can be easy to overlook. But as Skyler will show us, Joel contains a vital message about the coming of the Messiah on the Day of the Lord.
For our last sermon in our Heart of God series for the summer, Pastor Jeff Ryan takes us through the Book of Hosea. In the book, Hosea uses incredibly powerful language to describe how Israel has repeatedly chosen to abandon their God in exchange for false idols. For their faithlessness, God warns the nation of Israel that judgment is coming. However, out of His deep love for His people, God does promise that one day He will redeem them and will once again be their God!
We read through the book of Ezekiel 37:1-14 for our third sermon this summer in our Heart of God series. In the passage, God commands the prophet Ezekiel to speak to a valley of dry bones to come to life, but when Ezekiel does this, there's no life in them! But when God breathes into them, they become a great and vast army! Skyler walks us through this passage which alludes to how until we become followers of Jesus, we are like an army of people made of flesh and bone but lack the Spirit of life, God's own breath.
This week in our "Heart of God" series we are going through the book of Lamentations. This book of the Bible is without question one of the heaviest in the entire Scriptures and for good reason. As Austin points out in his sermon, Lamentations begs the question: As followers of Jesus, what do we do with our grief and sorrow? We will see in this book not only what we do but also what the LORD does when we suffer!
We are continuing our multi-year-long Heart of God series this summer, and we are starting in the book of Jeremiah! Today's passage contains a verse often thought to mean that God wants and knows all of the good things ahead of us. But, while God does want good for those who love Him, as we'll see in Josh's sermon that doesn't always look how we think it should or even want it to.
Join us as we finish our "Knowing God" series! For our sermon today, Austin takes us through 1 Corinthians 12:11-27 and shows us the Holy Spirit as a distributor of spiritual gifts. We see that the Spirit has uniquely gifted all believers to be one unified body that loves and serves God and others.
Join us as we continue on in our Knowing God series as Josh walks us through the letter to the Ephesians. In the reading, we see that Paul is showing how the Spirit empowers us in our daily life
Today we continue in our "Knowing God" series and have the joy of celebrating 21 people being baptized from death into life! 21 people have placed their trust in Jesus as both their savior and king over their life, and today they get to declare that truth publicly. In our passage today, we also see how the Holy Spirit is both our convictor and our guide and how Jesus Himself says it is better that we have the Holy Spirit now than Jesus' physical presence.
In our second sermon on the Spirit of God, Josh takes us through John 14, verses 15 through 31. In the passage, Jesus is telling his disciples that while he is going somewhere, they cannot follow; Jesus is not abandoning them but is instead sending the Holy Spirit to be with them and to guide them to love and obey all the commands Jesus gave.
Join us as we kick off the third and final part of our Knowing God series, The Spirit! This week we open up Paul's letter to Titus and how the Spirit is our regenerator. While this word isn't commonly used today, it describes the beautiful work that the Spirit does in our hearts and calls us back all the way to Genesis.
Join us as we celebrate Easter Sunday! Today is without a doubt the single most important moment in all of human history and specifically in Jesus' ministry on earth. Having defeated death itself, Jesus not only delivers on every prophecy written about him by the prophets and proves himself to be the Messiah, he forever seals everlasting life for those who believe in Him! Today Josh Luse preaches on the resurrection of Lazarus and how Jesus used it to point to his own resurrection!
In this week's sermon in our "Knowing God" series, Austin preaches on Jesus proclaiming himself as the true vine. In this passage, Jesus commands his followers to "abide" in him as he abides in them. Austin teaches what it means for Jesus to be the vine and what it truly means to abide in him!
This week we celebrate as 17 people are baptized! Baptism is a time of tremendous joy because we, as a church, celebrate the transformation that Jesus bought for us, so we publicly declare our faith in Him! And as we see in today's sermon, Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life that gives us eternal hope, and He is preparing a room for us to delight in the presence of God for all eternity!
In this next sermon on the 7 "I Am" statements in our knowing God series, we celebrate our new Co-lead pastor Josh Luse preaching for the first time at Citylight! Josh walks us through Jesus claiming to be "the gate" and what exactly that means.
For this week's sermon, we are looking at the second "I Am" statement in John 8. In our passage we find Jesus confronting the religious leaders about His identity. Pastor Jeff Ryan points out how Jesus makes a claim about where he comes from and promises the result of belief in Him!
In our first sermon over God the Son in our Knowing God series, Justin teaches from John 6. Here, Jesus claims that He is the bread of life and what will ultimately sustain us when all else falls away. When we try to substitute anything else into our life as its sustenance we are left feeling unfulfilled and hungry.
In the last part of the "God the Father" section of our "Knowing God" series, we look at God as a Father. Whether your dad was good, bad, present, or not our view of our earthly father impacts how we view our heavenly one. For this week's sermon, Austin points out key areas of scripture that reveal to us what God the Father is like and how He views those who are His children.
For our sermon this week, Jeff Ryan preaches through Isaiah 43 verses 1-7 as we explore the character of God in the next part of our "Knowing God" series. In this passage, we see that God does many things for His people, but we are specifically looking at God as a redeemer. In the midst of Israel's deepest sin, God first promised to bring about His divine justice but that He would also redeem and protect the people!
In our next sermon in the "Knowing God" series, we look at God as a chooser! In our reading from Deuteronomy, God makes it clear that His love doesn't come because we earn it, it isn't random, and He doesn't love out of obligation. We find that God chooses to love us because He is love itself!
For the next sermon of our Knowing God series, Skyler preaches on God as a judge. We read out of the book of Amos and see that God has set a standard that He will measure all people against. What this means for the church, though, is that we no longer have to fear the judgment of God; rather, we are inspired to share the Gospel with those who have not trusted in Christ!
This week we kick off our series exploring the Trinity: Knowing God! For the first sermon of the series, we are looking at God the Father as a Creator. We see this characteristic of God from the first words of the Bible in Genesis 1 and as Austin points out, what God creates, communicates who He is!
For our 6th birthday celebration, we take a moment to reflect on the glory of Jesus through our little story here in Lincoln. We remember the good things God has done in our local church and the hard seasons He has walked with us through in the last six years. We also look to the story of Moses and the burning bush, where Moses objects to God's calling and how the Lord responds to our objections.
For this week's sermon covering our mission statement, the founder of the Salt Company Troy Nesbitt, preaches about the importance of church planting. Starting new local churches is written into the DNA of Jesus' mission to the apostles. It is also one of the most significant ways in which the Gospel is spread to new places and sustains the health of the Body of Christ.
In the second sermon covering our mission statement, Austin preaches on the importance of disciple-making as pointed out in Matthew 4. Discipleship is the call of every single Christian no matter how long they have been following Jesus.
In our first sermon of 2023, Pastor Jeff preaches over Psalm 34. The Psalms are a beautiful collection of songs and poems that reveal both the heart of the author towards God but also God's heart for us. In the midst of one of King David's most challenging trials, he proclaims and calls us to worship God by deeply rooting ourselves in His glory.
Join us for our 2022 Christmas Eve gathering! We celebrate the coming of the savior of the world as a church family while Austin preaches over Luke 2. In the sermon, Austin highlights how after 400 years of silence, God's presence returns to the people. But unlike in the past, God's presence is in the form of the incarnate Jesus and is initially revealed not to the spiritual elite but to a teen mom and some lowly shepherds.
This morning Skyler kicks off our brief Advent series! We start by reading out of Luke 1, verses 30-33, in which the angel Gabriel tells a young woman named Mary that she will conceive a child by the Holy Spirit who will be the savior of the world. Skyler will show us multiple points in Israel's history that pointed to this moment and truly how monumental it was.
In our last week in the book James, Austin preaches through the last eight verses of James 5. In the passage this week, James talks about the importance of confessing our sins to others and also the critical importance of prayer! We are called to pray for one another not only to be healed but also to plead with God on their behalf!
This week Bob Walz preaches over our next section in the Book of James, chapter 5, verses 7 through 12. In the reading for this week, James calls the scattered church to remain patient, patient amid suffering, patient with their brothers and sisters in Christ, and patient for the return of Jesus to end the suffering of His people. James tells us to look to the prophets as examples of how we should respond to suffering.
In this week's sermon, Austin wraps up chapter 4 and begins chapter 5 of James! In our reading for this week, James is bringing our attention to two things that cause every person worry: our finances and our future. Many people will try to plan everything out regarding their money, and the 80-something years we have on earth. James throws a big wrench in all that planning by pointing out that our lives are but a mist and our money won't last.
This week we pick back up in our James series as Austin preaches over verses 1-10 of chapter 4. James has thus far been talking about our relationships with other people, and this chapter talks about the root of our broken relationships. James says that the cause of our broken relationships isn't external conflict but internal; our passions wage war within us. However, despite our selfishness, God gives a greater grace!
We are taking a break from our series in James to celebrate 23 new baptisms. Austin preaches on Luke 5:1-11 and how faith in Jesus starts with him approaching and pursuing us, not the other way around. Faith in Jesus looks like us falling at the feet of a savior who we didn't deserve but who still loves us. Baptism is a celebration of what has already happened in the heart of a believer, a faith in the only one who could save.
For this week's sermon, Austin preaches over James 3:13-17. In our passage this week, James talks about true wisdom, where it comes from, what it's motivated by, and what it looks like in practice. Earthly wisdom, on the other hand, disguises itself and can often lead people astray.
We continue our series in James this week as Pastor Jeff preaches on James 3:1-12. So far, James has been teaching us how to take our faith into action but, in James 3, he teaches about the hardest thing to tame in our sinful nature, the tongue. What we say has the ability to be a blessing to others or destruction. Our words are so powerful and meant to be used by God to bless others.
For this week's sermon, Austin preaches on some of the most contentious verses in the Bible. Many have looked at James' letter as directly opposed to Paul's teaching on salvation through faith alone and direct proof that one needs to have works to be saved. What we find, though, when we examine the texts is that James is very specific about what kind of faith and works he calls people to.

James warns of the sin of partiality in this passage, and even some 2000 years later, we as Christians fall victim to this sin so easily and without even realizing it. Austin points out what modern partiality looks like and why it is antithetical to who God is, what He has done for us, and what He commands us to do for others.

In our third week in the book of James, Austin preaches verses 13 through 18. In the verses for this week, James is addressing the reality that we as Christians will experience temptation. Not only is it inevitable that we will face these temptations, but it is also likely that we will try to shift the blame off ourselves and onto others. The good news of the Gospel, however, is that Jesus confronted the worst kinds of temptation and yet didn't give into them. Knowing that we are encouraged to look to Jesus' sacrifice rather than to satisfy our temptations.

Before we start our next series, Omaha pastor and cofounder of the Citylight church family, Chris Hruska, preaches over Jesus feeding the 5000. In the text, Jesus shows us that apart from him anything that we fill our lives with will leave us feeling empty and lacking,
In our final week in the Romans 8 series, Austin preaches over verses 35-39. In the verses, Paul makes it clear that there will be plenty of things that will try to rip us from the hands of our Father, including our own tendency to lean towards sin. Yet God's grip on us is far stronger than any of those things.
In our gathering this week, Austin preaches over Romans 8:33-34. In these verses, Paul continues to point out that while the world will accuse and condemn God's people, the one who has any real authority to do that has chosen instead to forgive us. God, in all of His mercy and grace, has forgiven us because of what Jesus has done. We, in turn, are called to share that same love with the world that condemns us.
This week Austin preaches over the next two verses of our series in Romans 8. Verses 31 and 32 are some of the more misunderstood parts of Scripture. In many cases, they seem contrary to how we experience everyday life. What Paul is trying to point out though, is that despite our suffering, the work of Jesus and the promise of eternity will make it seem as though they never happened.
We continue in our series over Romans 8. This week Pastor Austin preaches over Romans 8:28-30. Verse 28 has become one of the default verses we look to when we experience suffering. However, we have begun to forget what the verse is actually saying. As Paul points out, suffering is all but guaranteed when we choose to follow Christ. What these verses point out is that the good that comes out of suffering may not always seem good to us, but ultimately are better for us.
In this week's sermon, Pastor Brett takes us through verses 26 and 27 of Romans 8. In last week's sermon, Austin showed us the promise that those in Christ can look to in times of suffering. Our verses this week show us that while we can still look to that promise, we will not be left alone in our suffering. These verses show us that God is groaning in our suffering with us and understands firsthand the sorrows we feel.
In this week's sermon, Pastor Austin preaches over our next section of Romans 8. In these verses, Paul addresses the church of Rome and the ongoing persecution that not only they are experiencing but his own oppression. Despite all of the affliction he is experiencing, Paul points out that no earthly suffering will compare to the pure everlasting joy those in Christ will have in eternity. These verses don't negate the pain we see on Earth but promise that God will redeem and restore His creation.
In this week's sermon, Skyler takes us through Romans 8:14-17. Until now, much of the passage has been detailing the difference between those who are of the flesh and those who are of the Spirit. Today’s verses show us what it means to be adopted by Christ and what we as adopted children now have because of Him. Paul shows us that when we are adopted into God’s family, we start to hate the things we once loved, like our sin, and we love what we used to hate, like God and His character.
In our next section over Romans 8, we take a look at verses 9-13. In the previous verses, Paul discusses what it looks like to live according to the flesh and the consequences it brings. In this week's verses, Austin shows us that when the Spirit dwells in someone, they are forever changed from the inside. The Spirit is what enables Christians to fight and kill sin, the Spirit and the work of Jesus on the cross are what bring us from spiritual death into eternal life!
This week in our series over Romans, Pastor Austin takes us into verses 5-8. It can be very tempting to look at these verses as a sort of litmus test for our faith. Unfortunately, if that is the case then we as sinful people will find ourselves utterly lacking. Rather what these verses highlight is the work of both Jesus on the cross and the Spirit inviting us daily into a deep relationship with God.

This week we kick off our series on Romans 8! Romans 8 is considered one of the greatest chapters written in the Bible because at the core of its rich theology, is the Gospel of Jesus Christ! This week for the next part of our Heart of God series, Skyler preaches over the book of Isaiah. In Skyler's sermon, we see that the book of Isaiah is one filled with prophecies of Isreal's destruction for its wickedness. Multiple times in the book we are given a clear picture of God's justified wrath poured out and yet Isaiah ends with a promise of healing, hope, and ultimately redemption. What we see in Jesus' ministry is that he is the fulfillment of Isaiah and that Jesus was sent to be the redemption of all of God's people.

This book of the Bible at first glance can seem rather pessimistic or even downright depressing at some points. After a year and a half, we are in our last week over the Luke series. Pastor Austin preaches over Luke 24: 44-53, Jesus' ascension into heaven. We see in the text that Jesus' last words to his closest friends the disciples are a call to go to the end of the streets and the ends of the earth to proclaim the Gospel. This week we celebrate 25 baptisms! We also hear Pastor Austin preach over Luke 24: 36-49, our second to last week in our Luke series. In the passage, we find the disciples who were going to Emmaus have rejoined with the twelve and are recounting what happened. The two have barely gotten a word in when Jesus suddenly appears in the room with them! The disciples all go through a rollercoaster of emotions ranging from fear to pure joy. They are so overwhelmed that they don't believe what is happening right in front of them. It's in this disbelief that Jesus reveals to them that not only is he alive in the flesh, but that he told them all of this would come to pass. The call of today's sermon is to see that Jesus accomplished what we could never on the cross. His love, grace, and mercy are far greater than our sin that made his sacrifice necessary.

This week we gather to listen to Pastor Brett preach over Luke 24: 13-35. In the passage, we find two of Jesus' disciples on the road to Emmaus. While on the road, they come across the risen Jesus but don't recognize him! Jesus joins them on their journey and explains the scriptures to them as they walk. However, it's only after breaking bread with them and vanishing that they realize who they were speaking to. Brett's call today is to see how scripture points to who Jesus is, but the resurrection proves who Jesus is.

Join us this Easter as we celebrate the Ressurection of Jesus! Today is the cornerstone of our entire faith without today, there is no Christianity. Without today Jesus' earthly ministry is incomplete. Austin preaches on the events that immediately follow Jesus rising from the dead. We find the apostles sitting around unsure of what to do next. Their best friend, and the person they believed to be the Messiah, was murdered three days ago. Then, at the break of dawn, Jesus returns to them! We see however that the disciples don't even believe it is Him. It's only after Jesus reveals Himself that the disciples remember what was said to them just before Jesus was betrayed.

In this week's sermon, Brett preaches over Luke 23: 1-25. In the passage we find Jesus being brought before several officials being falsely accused of several crimes. Despite his total innocence, Jesus remains silent throughout his trial. What we learn from this text is that in his infinite love and power, Jesus the innocent gave his life so that we the guilty could find forgiveness.

In this week's sermon, Austin preaches on Luke 22: 47:62. In the passage, Judas has led a crowd of people to the Garden of Gethsemane, where he betrays Jesus. Peter immediately jumps to Jesus' defense and attacks the guards. But after stopping Peter and rebuking him, Jesus is arrested and brought before multiple officials in Jerusalem. To make matters worse for Peter, he then denies Jesus three times, just as was promised by Jesus. Austin contrasts the faith of Judas and Peter as well as their responses. When we look at these two men, we see what true biblical repentance looks like when our faith is weak and what regret looks like when it fails.

In this week's sermon, Skyler preaches over Luke 22: 39-46. In the text, we find Jesus and the disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane moments before he is arrested. While in the garden, Jesus is in agonizing over what is going to transpire over the next several hours. However, when we examine the text closely, the actual agony Jesus was experiencing was the Father's cup of wrath. In the sermon, Skyler preaches why Jesus did this, what it meant for him to do it, and what we as Christians should do in response.
In Austin's sermon this week, we find ourselves looking at arguably the most important meal in all of history. The Passover meal had massive historical and cultural importance to Jewish people, as it was created to remind the Israelite people of how God freed them from slavery in Egypt through Moses. What we see in the text though is a different kind of Passover meal. Jesus is showing us what the Passover is really all about. We see that all of the Old Testament and Jesus' earthly ministry has been for this moment. The moment where He frees mankind from their slavery to sin, Satan, and death. Through Communion, we are invited to partake in and remember Jesus' sacrifice for us. A meal that we could never afford on our own, so graciously given.

This week we hear Justin preach over Luke 20:1-18. In the text just before this, we find Jesus preaching the Gospel in the temple at Jerusalem. Jesus is then approached by a group of religious leaders challenging his authority to preach in the temple. Jesus, seeing their hearts, proceeds to give the parable found in our reading. What Jesus tells us through the parable is not only is he the Son of God. But, that for those who reject Him, there will be judgment. Jesus does not give us the option to be neutral on this. This decision is life or death, and to not choose is to choose.

This week, Pastor Austin walks us through one of the most pivotal moments in the Gospel of Luke. We find Jesus and the disciples entering the city of Jerusalem in the days leading up to Passover. The entire account of Jesus entering the city points to him being the Messiah that the Jewish people have been waiting for since the time of the prophets. Yet, the Pharisees, and even the people welcoming Jesus, fail to recognize the kind of king that Jesus is. For both Christians and non-believers today, this passage asks the question "Who do you say Jesus is; King or nobody?"

This week in Luke we go over the story of Zacchaeus. Pastor Austin shows us that Jesus, the Son of Man, came to seek and save the lost. This week in our series going through Luke, Pastor Brett covers the story of the rich young ruler. The ruler approaches Jesus with the question of how he can achieve eternal life. How Jesus responds has been the cause of debate ever since but, at the heart of His response is the Gospel. We would never be able to buy or earn our way into Heaven. We could never provide the salvation that we need from our sin. It is only through Christ that we find freedom, salvation, and true eternal life.

This week in our series over Luke we are looking at Luke 18:9-14, the parable of the Pharisee and tax collector. Pastor Austin shows us in the text that God does not care about our moral or spiritual resume. In fact Jesus shows in this parable, the more we try to prop ourselves up or compare ourselves to others, the more we begin to ignore our own sin. This week we continue on in our series over the Gospel of Luke. Austin preaches over Luke 16:19-31, known as the parable of the rich man and Lazarus. This passage brings up questions that can appear frightening. What is Hell like? Who goes to Hell? Am I going there when I die? Jesus however gives us clarity to these kind of questions. Ultimately, this passage is a beautiful insight to God's eternal justice and His great love.

This passage is the parable of the lost sheep and often times we only look at this passage from the sheeps' perspective. But when we look at it from the shepherds point of view, we see Jesus as a shepherd who longs to find us, His lost sheep. We see a shepherd who loves all of sheep so much that he would chase them down anywhere. Out of this great love, Jesus asks that we all rejoice when a lost sheep is found

We continue our Advent series this week as we hear Justin preach over Hebrews 4: 14-16. This passage describes a Great High Priest who intercedes for us to the Father. We see that this Great High Priest is not someone who is unfamiliar with our struggle with sin and hardship, but is someone who knows firsthand what they are like and yet never succumbs to them. We see in the text that this Great High Priest is Jesus Himself, the God of eternal glory who rules all creation, stepped down from His throne in order to save us from the very thing keeping us furthest away from Him; our sin.
We kick off our Advent series in John 1: 1-18. For this weeks sermon Pastor Austin teaches on the greatest rescue story ever told. In this story we see the infinite, eternal, holy God come into the world to rescue His rebellious, ungrateful, and vulnerable children. The Savior of the world however would not come in a manner befitting of his holiness but rather as the most vulnerable form; an infant.

As we pick back up in our series in Luke, Pastor Austin teaches on an important upcoming dinner party. In the passage Jesus describes to us a great wedding banquet and how this just a taste of what Heaven is like. However, what's more beautiful is the people who are invited to this wedding feast. Jesus tells us that the people at this wedding are in fact wedding crashers. He explains that no one deserved or earned their way to be there but rather the host was infinitely welcoming. In this week's sermon we pick up in Luke 13: 18-21. Pastor Austin dissects Jesus's parables on the insignificant mustard seed and the invisible yeast and how they represent the Kingdom of God. When we examine the text, we see that Jesus is not calling the proud, strong, seemingly perfect to an all out sprint to Heaven. Rather, He calls the unassuming, weak, broken sinner into a slow, consistent, and oftentimes unseen growth alongside Him.
