No one has been left untouched by this pandemic. And regrettably, our children, have experienced a huge amount of it with having school cancelled in March and now, as we attempt a new educational year within this pandemic….it appears the disruption will continue. Through it all, we know parents remain committed to ensuring their children receive a high quality education. Yet if your family chose to send your child back to school this year, and now you find them home intermittently, or perhaps indefinitely, that reality can be jarring….for both parent and child. So today, we want to reassure both parents and and older students who may be listening, you CAN regain some control in what has maybe felt like a year of factors OUTSIDE of your control. Now we don't know what the future holds when it comes to the pandemic and what life will look like moving forward. We DO, however, know a lot about how to homeschool peacefully and productively for the time you find yourself doing so. So whether you plan to homeschool longer, or you're in the one-and-done crowd, this episode goes over some key concepts that can help you transform this unexpected educational pivot you've made into an empowered and enlightening journey. Less is more: how to make less of overwhelm, worry or stress and create more room for more peace, presence, learning and connection. Listen in to hear some strategies to minimize the length and strength of impact those emotions can have on your day. These strategies include actionable steps you can take mentally to identify the emotion, allow it, feel it all the way through and not make it mean anything more than it needs to be. This process helps you move forward in a way better mood than if you let the difficult emotion consume you and take on a life of its own throughout the day. The latter half of the show includes some wisdom from The Parent's Tao Te Ching by William Martin; ancient advice for modern parents. Martin does a remarkable job of reminding parents that less is more. Parents, we all understand the phrase “the day has gone off the rails”.
