I hope this podcast gives you some tools to stop the overwhelming thoughts of the future and learn to influence it by your focus on the HERE AND NOW.

No one that I have met love change - most people dread it, even if you like it, when things don't change then that change you won't like -

When we think we know something and then there is a rapid change it causes us to enter the state of Psychological Incongruency - our brain has to figure out how to react or to adapt to the new concept or situation that we are now facing. It can cause a lot of personal problems for those that do not recognize and work on adapting our Psychological Incongruencies.

Well I know I added a few pounds this year with all the lockdowns and shutdowns! Love ME some, homemade cookies and my partner likes to cook! Awesome for me and bad for me!

That is the problem with how we react under pressure! What are your coping reactions?
Projection onto others?
Dissociation - shutdown and separate from life...
Self-medicating ? food, feel-good substances...
Denial that problems are there - if I pretend it is not there it will go away.... NOT...

Let's talk about how to turn unhealthy coping reactions into positive control!

This week we look at the difference between a high energy person vs. ADHD

So many times I have had adults come into therapy and have a bunch of diagnoses for behaviors that treatment has not worked for. that is because they were in fact adult ADHD and they never knew it.

Simply put ADHD messes with your life where high energy does not cause as many problems....

Adult ADHD symptoms may include:

  • Impulsiveness (money, words,)
  • Disorganization and problems prioritizing (what do I do first)
  • Poor time management skills (late for work, forgot appointments)
  • Problems focusing on a task (start a task move to a new one )
  • Trouble multitasking (never finish a task)
  • Excessive activity or restlessness (always need to move something)
  • Poor planning (no idea what they have to do next week)
  • Low frustration tolerance (feeling overwhelmed)
  • Frequent mood swings (happy, angry, sad all in like 10 mins)
  • Problems following through and completing tasks
  • Hot temper (see frustration)
  • Trouble coping with stress
  • Relationship problems
  • Missing personal responsibilities (forgetting bills)

Today I am talking about time - Time is such a big topic in our lives we are always complaining about it - wishing for more or less of it - wanting to stop or pause it! The truth is we need to appreciate time.... here is a couple of short quotes form today's podcast...

"I have had so many adults in sessions that said things like:
 if only I started off better in life and not that wasted all my time –  people in their 40 this or  they will say – if only I had more time I would “start my business, travel, go back and get my RN, Ph.D., high school diploma, college degree…  ----- you can put a million statements after if I only had that time “over or more time…”

"We need to appreciate that time does not stop or pause because if it did it might do so at a point that is not of our choosing – for example – if time paused when I had cancer I would not be cancer-free – or..."

I hope this podcast on time is well worth your time! (pun intended)

Here is part two of after the Cancer bomb falls.

I talk about the physical and emotional impact of cancer both personally and psychologically.

There is a process from the time you are told you have cancer through the treatment process, then the 5 yrs to "survivor" and for the rest of your life. The Trauma of a cancer diagnosis is not over if you live five years it creates a "new normal" with good and bad realities.

This Podcast is for anyone that has cancer - knowns someone with cancer - or is a professional working with anyone with or post-cancer!

In today's podcast, we will look at how we see the world AKA our perspective -
Most of the time people do not take time to learn about how they see the world because it is how they see it. Once you start to learn how you became you then you can improve your world.
~~~~ here is a part of the podcast.
Best to explain as we talk about three broad categories that we form a lot of our perspectives around –
Family influence on perspective (Learned or rejected)
  1. Influence
    • Social
    • Racial identity or not
    • Racial inclusion or racism
    • Friendly helpful or distant and self-caring
    • Importance of family interactions or not
    • The value of friendship or not
    • Gender roles or not
  2. Religion
    • Faith or no faith
    • Religious rituals or not
    • Impact on life choices or not
  3. Foods
    • Experimental or not
    • Healthy or not
  4. Holidays
    • Important or not
    • For kids or both or no one
    • Family time or not
Life Experiences
  1. Trauma
    • Emotional
    • Physical
    • Sexual
    • Verbal
    • Poverty, middle class or wealthy -
Social influence
  1. Peer groups
    • Influence perspective again by embracing or rejecting
    • Generational views
    • pop-culture
    • mass-media stereotyping
    • Tik-Tok or not ---
So you can see that as we journey through life we embrace or reject perspectives that we have been exposed to – some by choice others by force – but those that we embrace as OUR perspective all have a core from someplace in our journey –
This week I am responding to a few psychological Questions from you the listener.
  • Are there therapists who specialize in dealing with people who have been abused by a therapist
  • What are some of the "mildest" psychological disorders that occur in people that quite are common and can be seen as normal?
  • What's it like living with someone with a hot temper? Have you addressed the issue with this person?
  • I'm socially inept, and I flunked in college. What's wrong with me?
  • How can I get rid of overthinking?
  • Since narcissism stems from child abuse or childhood trauma, is there no way to "undo"/"repair" that damage in a narc's life?
  • Can a Psychological Disorder be cured?
This week we will look at the purposed protocols for "safety" that will put our kids ar mental health risk!
They took down the video as it was wrong and they will not comment to anyone - i did try!
You can find the video I am referencing in the podcast on Youtube as the following link
Eardley Elementary: Covid-19 Back to School on Youtube:
I have worked with children and mental health for over 20 years and I was a public school teacher for 6 years for kids K to 12.
The potential of these rules and "safety" protocol has staggering mental health concerns.
I will walk you through the video and the protocol dangers and then talk to parents about the choices you have to make.
During the stay at Home order, I discovered the Tiger King Show -
After watching this show with a rather morbid enjoyment I thought I would share my analysis of the psychological issues I noted as I watched.
I thought you may like to see how a therapist "enjoys" TV shows as the analytical mind and the perceptions of how the lives of people need to improve their mental health.
I will say that the Tiger King show is a psychological joy to watch and analyze even as I have a lot of empathy for many of the characters.
