Author Rocio Vargas joins host Billy "BJ' Jones for another segment of BJ Speaks. Vargas discusses her latest work, Echos of My Clan, and chats about her writing journey.

The novel Echos of my Clan unfolds the Spanish situation of the first half of the 20th century, and from its romantic essence it tells a very hard life. In addition to entertaining, creates a tapestry of the political situation in Spain at that time, particularly adverse for the gypsies, about which there is still a surprising ignorance and discrimination. Unraveling the enigmatic life of gypsies is one of the main merits of this work.

What is your legacy? On Saturday, March 10th at 3pm EST, we will begin a new discussion on legacy. During this Turning Point Series, the question of legacy is one of the most important questions you should be asking yourself as you make that ultimate decision how to pursue your passions. As I watched the Oscars and the Olympics, I saw people at the top of their professions earning their spots in history. Their hard work and dedication to their crafts awarded them the chance to be among the very best in their industries. A great part of their legacies is not just the medals, statues and recognitions they were given, but their hard work and excellence displayed on the world stage.

The question now is, what is the legacy you want to leave? Let’s discuss this and more this coming Saturday.

Join host Billy "BJ" Jones on BJ Speaks: A Conversation with author Clementina Marie Giovannetti on Sunday, 2/4/18, from 3-4 p.m. EST.

Jesus And A Roman Centurion: A Past Life Memoir  is a "profound past life regression that captures the very essence of Jesus" (Giovannetti).

The book is based on a past-life regression that captures the life-altering moment when a Roman Centurion locates the two-year-old Christ child and ultimately chooses to betray everything he had ever believed in or known.

"Imagine, for a moment, the alarm clock going off, then forcing yourself out of bed, and into the bathroom to accomplish what every modern woman is expected to do before walking out the front door.

But what if one morning, when you looked into the bathroom mirror, someone other than yourself looks back? What if the person in the mirror doesn’t resemble you at all, a petite Italian woman in her mid-forties? Instead you see a man, towering above 6’4 and resembling a Roman gladiator. That’s exactly what occurred one morning when Clementina stood in front of her bathroom mirror.

Clementina’s initial reaction, of course, was to throw cold water into her eyes, but the reflection in the mirror only grew stronger and his piercing and desperate eyes told her, we need to talk..."

Join author Billy Jones for another segment... BJ Speaks: A Conversation with author/poet Zoraida "Ziggy" Pastor (Sunday, May 7th @ 3 p.m. EST).

Miami native Zoraida “Ziggy” Pastor has been writing poetry since she was thirteen.  Her immigrant mother sent her to spend countless afternoons in the library that was conveniently located across from her middle school. While completing her bachelor’s degrees, she was part of the Everglades Wilderness Writing Expedition that took local, aspiring writers to learn about Everglades National Park. She was led by park rangers for a month-long exploration deep into the Everglades; she hiked, biked, slogged through the “Grassy River,” all the while writing and recording. This experience was the catalyst for her future work: a reflection of nature and what nature can give us. This collection of poems gently asks the reader to look within at the thoughts and feelings nature provokes or evokes. It is a call to awareness of the importance of nature places and the need to preserve them. Ziggy, like many naturalists, believes that nature and wild places preserve our sanity and well-being. Her work is a type of eco-criticism of how our nature places are dwindling. It also ruminates on art, and daily life as sources of imagination, and inspiration.

Ziggy's poems on the Everglades were exhibited in the Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center in Everglades National Park. She is the author of the upcoming book:  Poems: Particles of Lights.

If you wish to speak to BJ or Ziggy during the live broadcast, call 347-539-5372 or email your questions, comments or requests to everydayfolkslisten@gmail.com.

Join author Billy Jones on Sunday, August 21st (3-4 p.m. EST), for BJ Speaks: An Interview with Cesar Becerra, filmmaker, writer, and historian. Cesar is a former road warrior (when gas was 99 cents a gallon) who drove through all 50 states in a one-year road trip for the Travel Channel television network. A type 2 diabetic, Cesar decided to "thorough-hike" the 2,160 mile Appalachian Trail in 388 days and through all 4 seasons. Now addicted to long distance walking, he has begun the first leg of a 20,000-mile journey (The World Walk for Diabetes) as he attempts to circumnavigate the globe (that's right the planet!) on foot (so far Key West to Arizona). Filmmaker and writer with more than a dozen titles to his resume, he also teaches environmental education at Nature's Classroom and is the lead tour manager for Educational Field Trips. He is an Everglades historian who promotes conservation and love of this natural wonder by touring school groups, friends and family through the park. Far more than an aimless wanderer, Becerra teeters on the edge of two worlds: that as an observer of modern day life and a believer of turning back the clock to a simpler time. He is at the helm of interesting projects that educate, entertain, & inform people about a new (feel free to call it radical) approach of living a balanced and purposeful life. Author Niki Naseer, author of Golden Bangles Hidden Tears, paints a haunting picture of a young Pakistani girl’s life. It chronicles her journey from Burma to Pakistan and ends in the US.
