Fergus is no stranger to adversity or challenge. Having competed in a variety of sports from a young age, Fergus Crawley has spent his life in pursuit of athletic performance and demands more of himself, time and time again. Fergus is on a mission to raise awareness and funds for mental health issues and suicide prevention. Through his athletic pursuits, he has raised almost £100,000 for mental health through a variety of strength and endurance challenges. 

When he is not fundraising, Fergus provides elite level coaching for athletes across a range of disciplines including powerlifting, bodybuilding, ultrarunning, triathlon, combat sports and more. Working closely with military operatives, Fergus has a keen interest and experience in preparing candidates for selection in various levels of military and law enforcement. This is alongside the everyday athletes, those branching into more concurrent goals and those taking on charity challenges.

In this episode, Greg is joined by Rebecca Passmore, Managing Director of PureGym in the UK. Rebecca studied business management at the University of Nottingham and began her career on Aldi's graduate programme in 2002, before moving on to home improvement retailer, Wickes and Asda.

Greg & Rebecca delve into how PureGym navigated the Global Pandemic and how communication affects team performance in a time of crisis. Whilst managing the UK’s biggest fitness chain, Rebecca shares the reality of being a wife and a mother to two young children.

In this episode, Greg is joined by Scott Britton. Scott is a  former Police Detective with the Greater Manchester Police, functional fitness athlete, and founder of Battle Cancer: the world's biggest functional fitness fundraising organisation.

Scott founded the charity in 2017 after many of his close friends and loved ones had been affected by cancer. To date, Battle Cancer has raised £900,000 for almost 40 cancer charities worldwide helped by nearly 20,000 athletes.

Greg & Scott also chat about Scott's own personal fitness journey, how he founded the charity and what the future holds for him & his team.

The first episode of the BLK BOX podcast features Nick Winkelman, head of athletic performance and science for the Irish Rugby. Nick was formerly the director of education for EXOS and oversaw their combine development program. Nick is an internationally recognised speaker and has a Ph.D with a focus on motor learning and sprinting. Nick also has recently released his own book called “The Language of Coaching” which is discussed in this episode.
