Hi, My name is Ben - I think we have all had that feeling when you've got a good friend which you happen to get on with like a house on fire, then you take that step - ask the big question! "Have you ever seen ..." Imagine that person replies with "No" to almost every single movie. Now meet Danny - He managed to get to 30 without watching Blade Runner, Ghostbusters, Alien, Back to the future, Flight of the Navigator, Airplane, Naked Gun, and the list goes on. That got us thinking? What better way than to record that journey and maybe find out why?
A huge Merry Christmas to all our listeners!
Our first Seasonal Episode introduces Ben to the "other" 90's Jack Frost film, where a convicted Criminal known for putting people on ice is himself turned into a snowman.
The fictional town of Snowmonton and the boring sheriff Will Tinsel (Sam) is looking for closure on the night of Jack's Execution, tonights events will not execute as intended as Jacks' transport collides with an untested military-grade acidic substance.
This film has it all - governmental conspiracy, bumbling local law enforcement, and A child who needs a reference image to dress a snowman (coal for eyes, mouth, buttons, and carrot for a nose).
I worried that I would struggle to get out of the mental shadow of Micheal Keaton's "Dead Dad" Christmas movie. I was pleasantly surprised that those worries melted away, poured through a keyhole, and bashed expectations out of my head as of colliding with a box of baubles.

In our Trailer for the second episode of Ben & Dan's Movie Night - Dan got me to watch the cult classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space.
In our Trailer for the very first episode of Ben & Dan's Movie Night - I got Dan to watch the JCVD Classic and put some bits together in Blender.
Tonight's movie is for all of you who vaguely remember watching something when you were younger and not entirely sure if it happened or was just a fever-induced nightmare.
What do I refer to, the wondrous place where those it belongs to can have their hopes and dreams realized.
If you are not welcome in Rainbow pond - kiss your sweet dreams and maybe even your life goodbye.
Dan Introduces me to the film so incomprehensible and sad that even the last two years have not generated as many tears as the film makes every effort to make each character Cry.
Tree Frog Jonathon has the battle of his life ahead of him as he navigates life from spawning in the danger zone, dodging bullies, finding love, learning to live, and trying not to get whacked by a giant Lobster Mobster sent by the evil Leopold.
People are going to croak, some might get whacked, you are going to see a lot of tears and it's so badly dubbed it might seem "Not Fair".
So join us tonight! let's see what your upper ribbit limit is when we put our whole heart in it and still think it's a croak-of-shit.
Imagine my surprise to find out that not only did Dan miss this film but somehow evaded the leg drop WWF Hulkamania insanity of the 90's.
I introduce Dan to Hulk Hogan's second cinematic adventure, a Space/Comedy Romp featuring the one and only Christopher Lloyd (who barely registers any interest from Dan (even though he still has my Back to the future Blu-Ray set)).
Space racist Shep Ramsey fails to save a prisoner, blows up a ship filled with potentially innocent "workers" and is rewarded with his own worse nightmare - R&R on Earth.
I relish in introducing him to this film and we are both taken aback at just how ludicrous the film is in its approach to casual spying and providing would-be sex offenders with "Freeze" guns.
We spend a long time talking about the extra-marital situation rather than the extra-terrestrial dread that should incur when talking about intergalactic villains.
*Disclaimer - This is not a Cuck film but we think it definitely could be a "Cuck Film" world-title contender.

What do Women Want? Is that a question worth pondering - would you want to be able to read women's minds?
This is the real question we ponder for valentines day.
Listen to us on your special evening as we kick back and watch the alpha male, absent father, blatant misogynist, and coffee worker harasser Nick (Mel Gibson) gets bestowed an incredible gift then watch him slowly mentally neg a strong confident woman at the top of her game until she stares at his junk.
Maybe we could all learn a lesson from this film because this is the magic films are often about - not that Dan would know as he still hasn't been bothered to find my Back to the Future Trilogy and watch the second film.
Enjoy! - Ben & Dan
If you think it's only Detroit that is in desperate need of help, think again - Dan yet again managed to miss another cult classic movie. Somehow even though robocop has been available for a little as a Dollar (discount DVD) he did not buy it. This time we discuss the complexities of Man vs Machine and witness our ability to create Puns get killed pretty quickly at the start. Enter Hot Shot Murphy, he's rude to his partner, disrespectful to the equipment, and swirls fully loaded guns in his hands like a cowboy - he thinks he's Dead good, but in fact, he is certain to die. We enjoyed this film and hope you enjoy listening to us discuss it in tiny tiny chunks. Dead or Alive you're Listening to Us.
Happy 1st Anniversary to us - As a Thank You for Listening ...
Is there a better way to celebrate our first year of podcasting than dropping a film that ends up so random that the best way to honor it is to randomly set it as a bonus episode?
"This is probably the dumbest film we are going to watch ... until we watch the second one" - Ben (to Dan)
The Charlie Sheen (we don't talk about "That" stuff) comedy always makes me laugh and somewhat was able to generate the occasional chuckle from Dan ( The self proclaimed laugh out loud abstainer).
We admit that the film doesn't really work as Dan has almost no exposure to the style of comedy ...because he has never seen Airplane - Let that Soak in.
"I'm Confused" - Dan (about the film)
Barely 30 minutes in we really feel like we have nowhere near enough knowledge of the films it parodies, we don't understand why they didn't parody Tom Cruises Pete Mitchell entering women toilets.
Ultimately we decided that Hot Shots failed to set our great balls on fire as it doesn't parody Top Gun enough.
"He should have Flipped the Bird of the f**king the Bed" - Ben
However, this is a great example that we go into a Movie with No Script, No Plan, No Prep.
Please Enjoy!
Sometimes I wanna crawl into a ball and roll-charge Danny firing Movie classics at him like tiny needles. This movie has huge ramifications on what we might think of Extra-Terrestrials. Are they benevolent or sinister? Rather we should think about how hungry they could be! Because oh sweet ginger boy these things will eat virtually anything... Except for the stuff at the farm that is a credible food source. There are bangers, pipe bombs, aliens, tree climbing, and Billy Zane in this crazy filling - Charlie "One More Shot" does just that to close this movie. A real Drunk Tank to Hunk Tank.
What are the odds that there are still films so obscure, so small in scope that Dan has missed?
The minuscule facts get dwarfed by the incomprehensible chances that space cop Brick Bardo lands on a planet over 10 thousand lightyears and unwillingly gets involved in the Drug scenes of 90's Bronx.
We enjoyed our 13" Dollman, whom of which goes from humble Dirty Laundry defender to a protector of the weak.
So kick back, relax and listen to us watch this film in small chunks, talk about those tiny details and berate it for having worse effects than Jurassic Park.
You know there's something strange - when someone is on the wrong side of 20, and they stare at you blankly when you say the name, Bill Murray.
We all know who you are supposed to call, but what if the person you called is not interested in busting a ghost - but instead berating your selection of foodstuffs in your fridge - I am talking about GhostBusters.
I chose to introduce Dan to the Family Comedy Classic because we were recording between (not that we knew it at the time) two Lockdowns (later 3).
However, What was supposed to be a fun nostalgia trip for me and an all-important School lesson for Dan became a seminar in;
What not to do as a teacher - Peter Venkman I am looking at you.
What not to do as a private Contractor ( a buster of Sorts ) - Peter Venkman.
Instead became a lesson in what you could get away with within the '80s and slap a family-friendly buzz around it.
We find time to discuss world records, Big Foot, Ghosts, and naturally Ghost World records.
We hope you enjoy listening to us talk about GhostBusters as we watch the film in parts and discuss everything that we see.
What could I possibly say to sum up what would become one of our longest episodes?
We watch the cult classic Universal Solder and are persistently baffled by the ongoing exploits of a nosy ex-reporter who is more concerned about hotel room costs than the emotional cost of the death she brings upon her friend & co-worker.
We witness a top-secret military cover-up where expendable Soldiers can be re-used, improved, and as long as they keep their multi-million dollar headset on ...Controlled. We mull over the science and the practical use of Genetic engineering when confronting the fight against Terrorism.
I should highlight that this is a film directed by Roland Emmerich (of independence day fame) and in this film, he tastefully directs Jean Claude Van Damme's bare buttocks walking out into the open so he can "cool down".
Going into this movie Dan is dubious that JCVD will actually be in the film and comes away very impressed but we are still nowhere near identifying how he missed this film growing up.
I love this film, We love films & we love to talk utter bollocks too :D - Thanks for listening - Ben & Dan
If I needed a body bag for every iconic film Dan missed growing up - I would need a shit load of body bags, Also we find out in this episode of Ben & Dan's Movie Night Dan's - unique solution to Prisoners and buckets of Shit. In the movie Platoon, we covered the experience of fresh meat going into Vietnam - in "Rambo: First Blood" we witness first hand the struggle Vietnam veterans encountered trying to return to normal life after the war. In the town of Hope Will Tinkle Teasal finds out just how powerless the law is when it encounters pure survival instincts - Stallone Like a bat of hell comes into that town and I know just like Will - Dan will be Filled with tiny bullet hole surprises as we visit this Iconic Classic Movie. Close your eyes and enjoy your trip through Hope at Christmas time and learn a few things about respect, Friendship, Boobjobs, and most importantly ... Honour - and my friend you can Bat-on that.
What can I say about the movie Platoon (1986) - Starring a collection of some of the soon to be biggest actors of their time and directed by Oliver Stone. A movie about a very uncomfortable subject matter - The Vietnam war. Why is it uncomfortable? I have never seen it - this fact Dan is more than happy to get us to sit down and watch it. I tried to talk about Predator, Charlie Sheen, and even mistake this film for Apocalypse Now (Luck should have it that Dan has not seen that and did not pick up on it). Although this is a comedy podcast - this film hits some pretty heavy themes- finding out how we have both missed these sorts of movies are all apart of the mystery. Please Enjoy and check out our other episodes!
Top Gun There is a certain caliber of men who can become the best, they already know that they are the best and everyone else just needs to realise! – but can you guess who the best is (at not watching this film)? ( Yes that’s right its Dan a real Maverick ) I flip him the Bird and load up what might be one of our most high profile films with a slight undertone of homo-erotica ( fun fact Dan's auto-correct actually changed it to Tip-Fun instead of Top gun). I believe the song "Danger Zone" was chosen for this film under the impression that we believe its use relates to the awesome power of the American Air-Force but in our viewing of this Classic film we identify that this potentially has the best examples of an Anti-Hero whose sheer will & tenacity will not be stopped by women’s toilets. Do you really want to go the Danger Zone? Take our advice and pray to God you don’t cross paths with Sociopath Pete Mitchel, or look out for Charlie and her unending obsession for anything about Mig(Ryan). Please Enjoy, Like, and Subscribe. Find us on Anchor/Spotify/Apple just search for Ben & Dan’s Movie Night or Check my Bio for a link. Thanks for Reading/Listening – Ben & Dan.
This 1984 'Technoir' shows a horrific Future-Nightmare-Scape that a world ruled by Sentient A.I. could bring. The Terminator was by no means a huge hit but that didn't stop James Cameron coming back and creating The huge "Terminator 2: Judgement Day" regarded as the best action sequel Ever Made - Which Danny did in fact watch - but what I really want to know is: "How on earth did Danny watch the second film and never in 20 years (or even longer) or even out of some morbid curiosity attempt to watch "The Terminator" ... and I cannot hold my exasperation when he still doesn't know who Micheal Biehn is even though I forced him to watch Aliens. So Join us watching "The Terminator" in chunks and discussing everything from A.I, Time-Travel, Future-Nightmare-Scapes, Time Travel Paradoxes, and of course where the common sweeping brush can be utilized in a human Processing center as both a cleaning tool and a weapon (take notes future Skynet). We also want to say Thank you to those listening - We Really Appreciate your Support! Thank you - Ben & Dan If you haven't already Check out Ben & Dan's Movie Night on Spotify , subscribe , and you can keep up to date!
Hi Listeners,
This episode is an example of a horror, Comedy (Hormedy - Coined by Danny) that Danny watched that I never did and that film is Killer Klowns from Outer Space.
We follow Mike Tobacco and his friends the Terenzee Brothers (I honestly don't remember how its spelled) and we go off-topic more than on and discuss things like - Clown Technology!, Rubber Button, Popcorn Monsters, and good old fashioned gas lightning.
Enjoy.
Hi Listeners, This the first episode of Ben & Dan's Movie Night! This movie was a personal favourite of mine growing up. I was so delighted when I found out that Danny Liked Van Damme movies and decided to introduce to him to the movie that put Jean Claude Van Damme on the map. In this first episode I attempt to describe the format of the podcast. Enjoy!
An example of Danny passing the chance to watch all Back to the Future films... Its enough to make my blood boil, and it inspired this podcast.
