Hi, I’m Wes.
I’m a person in recovery and the founder of CLEAN Cause.
I founded CLEAN with a mission -- to create a sustainable source of funding to help individuals recover from alcohol and drug addiction.
My story isn’t that different from most addicts and alcoholics. I began drinking and smoking pot in my teens. After high school, I was drinking daily and my, once experimental, drug use became full dependency.
In my late 20s, despite my addictions, I managed to build a successful business - cupcakes of all things.
Extreme negative consequences weren’t enough to curb or stop my using. Stints in rehabs and a psych ward, the deterioration of my marriage and loss of trust from everyone I loved, getting fired as CEO of my own company, multiple DUIs and arrests, physical injuries and finally, living in an office of a beat up warehouse – still weren’t enough.
The turning point came one night in that warehouse, lying on the floor, staring up at the ceiling. My heart did something I had never felt before, an eerie fluttering for some time. For the first time, I believed that addiction would take my life.
The next day, I called my wife to tell her I didn’t think I was going to live much longer. Up until then she had taken the tough-love position and had refused to watch me die. But that day she extended yet another lifeline telling me to come home “right now” if I really wanted to get help. I accepted her offer.
They say it’s darkest before the dawn. Cliché, but true. Through God's grace, relationships have been restored, I’m a father of two beautiful sons (Jude and Otis) and I’ve found purpose in CLEAN Cause.
Call-to-Action: Helping folks recover from addiction is a Cause we as a culture can unite behind. Join us - as it's going to take a village to kick this beast's ass.
Join me as I talk about the Miracles of God in my Prison Journey!
My Identity is in Jesus Christ, Not in my circumstances. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Gratefully, Rob Lohman

Darrin Miller is a passionate treatment professional and the REACH Program Director. He specializes in treating younger adults and is a staunch advocate of AspenRidge's extended care model. "The best part of my job is getting to see the amazing change I see in individuals in such a short period. When I first meet a person in treatment, they've lost all hope. Getting to watch them regain hope and develop a newfound sense of optimism is something truly extraordinary."
A few sentences on : Why do you care to help others?" I choose to help others because I want to inspire intergenerational change. The process of recovery shapes healthier sons and daughters, parents, spouses, siblings, friends, and community members. A person's recovery touches so many lives.

Welcome to R1 Learning
Hello, my name is Tom Karl and I founded R1 as a result of my professional experience and my own recovery journey. I am grateful to have survived the struggles and consequences from my addiction with the help and support from so many others along my path. A positive outcome following my last relapse was the inspiration to create the R1 Learning System and the Discovery Cards. I am now committed to three tenets:
Keep “Recovery First” – This is true for me and those we touch through R1. Without it, nothing else is possible. And with it – anything and everything is. We can reach our dreams and aspirations if we keep recovery #1. This has certainly been true for me.
Serve others – Helping others who also struggle with mental health, substance use disorder, other addictions, or life challenges, and their loved ones, supports our own recovery and personal growth.
Choose to live a healthy and purposeful life – Life is precious… and our time here is short. Happiness comes from serving others, doing good, and being grateful. I choose to be happy and hope to inspire others to live a healthy and purposeful life along my R1 journey.
Connecting with others and sharing our experience is foundational to general wellness, recovery, and personal development. We at R1 are driven to spark meaningful conversations through self-discovery that increase connection, expression, choice, action, and change for individuals and their families. The R1 Learning System was developed to encourage these things and help individuals build the skills for change. We hope you find it does just that – increases engagement, builds vocabulary, helps individuals express themselves more effectively, and spark meaningful conversations for you and the people you work with.
We are committed to developing and disseminating quality training and technology driven multi-language tools for the mental health, substance use disorder, and personal growth communities. We want to hear from you. We will need your input and feedback – both your successes and challenges – so we can continue to improve the tools.
We look forward to meeting you, working with your team, and serving your community. We look forward to making a difference – with you!

Aaron Rubio
International Masters Addiction Coach ( IMAC )
United Community Addiction Network ( UCAN )
The mission of the UCAN project is to unite the community resources together to combat the disease of addiction.
Aaron’s involvement with addiction began in 2014. He was
dealing with it in both his immediate and extended family and so he
went on a search for answers and resources. After numerous calls and
online searches, he realized the system was under duress and his
passion for change was born.
Early in Aaron’s journey he was introduced to FAN (Families
Against Narcotics). It took a short period of time to realize FAN was
bringing addiction awareness to the community and he ventured in to
start the Genesee County Chapter in 2014. After creating and helping
with many initiatives throughout the years with FAN, he noticed huge
gaps in the services. Wanting to push for change on another level, he
decided to move in a different direction.
His passion has grown into a full-scale non-profit called United
Community Addiction Network or UCAN. The mission of the UCAN
movement is to unite the community resources to combat the disease
of addiction. UCAN is working with hospitals to develop a standard of
practice regarding addiction within the hospital setting. Recently UCAN
signed an agreement with the Genesee Intermediate School District for
video presentations on drug awareness and UCAN is also working
closely with the Genesee County Sheriff’s office to start multiple new
initiatives. The movement is poised to truly make an impact in Genesee
County.
Aaron is member of many community groups including The
Greater Flint Health Coalition, Genesee County Prevention Coalition,
Drug Court Advisory Board, Jail Re-entry program and The Salvation
Army Advisory Board. In addition, he has obtained over 15 State and
National Addiction Certifications allowing him to practice as an
International Masters Addiction Coach (IMAC).

Some people have referred to him as "The Gordon Ramsay of the Addiction World" because of his direct, no-nonsense, and candid approach to recovery. He has discovered that in order to get his clients to change their thinking, they must confront their disease with candor and vigor. Dr. Kelly works to "make the road of recovery less of a mystery tour."

‘A belief is not merely an idea the mind possesses; it is an idea that possesses the mind’
Growing up in a blended family has given me a unique insight into the challenges children face. I grew up with a sister Melanie and brother Chris from my mom’s previous marriage and a sister, Nancy, on my father’s side. As well as my sister Heidi from their marriage.
Spending my early years growing up in New Orleans, Louisiana, in America’s Deep South, I saw first hand the racism and division that was polluting that part of the US. My father, an entrepreneur, decided to move us to Colorado. We moved several times so he could work on his businesses. Meanwhile, my mother was very independent. My lively upbringing and family dynamic enabled me to see as a child. You need to be seen and heard.
It was when I was 16, I lost my brother Chris to suicide. This devastating event impacted all of our family. And looking back, it also sewed the seeds for my drive to look at how children and parents can learn to communicate in a different dynamic. I could see the relationship my mother had with my brother, and his struggles were connected. His relationship with my dad, his step-father, was not healthy. And it set me on the............

From $6 an Hour to a $30,000,0000 Enterprise : Josh Smith with 4th Purpose Foundation
In just over a decade and a half, Josh Smith built a small service company into a $30 million enterprise with more than 150 employees across 3 states. But for a 5-year period before that, he was incarcerated in a federal prison camp in Kentucky for his involvement in marijuana and cocaine trafficking.
Smith grew up in a single-mother household, lived in government housing, was removed from his home at age 11 due to abuse and was convicted of 7 felonies by the time he was 16. He entered prison at age 21 as an 11th-grade dropout with no plans to exit any differently than how he entered.
Instead, he found redemption through God and was guided by several highly educated, white-collar criminals, who he was able to learn from. But all the books he read, studying he did and plans he made didn’t alter the reality of the world he was released into, one where ex-convicts are still punished by an onerous set of legal restrictions. Upon his release, the government housing his wife lived in was no longer available to them because of his status as a felon. He had to beg for his first job making $6 an hour.
Since exiting prison, he has spent the last 15 years involved in prison reform efforts, mentoring formerly incarcerated individuals across Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee; even in several Central American countries. Colorado Senator Pete Lee

Community Service
Throughout my working career, I have volunteered for many local community based organization, including serving on the board of AspenPointe Health Services, (formerly Pikes Peak Mental Health), the Manitou and Pikes Peak Restorative Justice Councils and the Youth Transformation Center. These experiences have taught me about the challenges facing our fellow citizens.
Some of my most rewarding experiences were as a board member and board chair for Workout, Ltd. A local juvenile justice program, Workout found jobs for young people with legal troubles and returned 80% of the teen’s wages to their victims. Using hard work as a teaching tool, Workout helped more than 10,000 kids and returned $2 million to our community over 30 years. The recidivism rate for these kids has been less than 7%.
Public Service
I am a concerned citizen with a passion for our community and a desire for public service. Far from a professional politician, I subscribe to Thomas Jefferson’s view of “citizen public servants” bringing their real-world experience to a public office for the benefit of the community. That is the spirit in which I serve the people of Colorado.
Having lived the last 40 years in this community working for hundreds of clients, serving a wide variety of people and organizations, I have come to know the needs, hopes, difficulties and aspirations of our citizens. I have talked to leaders, administrators and advocates about healthcare and access to it, public education, dropout and graduation rates, criminal justice, prison crowding and recidivism, water, roads and infrastructure, employment and training, and environmental concerns.
I am now ready to dedicate my full-time efforts to improving our community by creative, open minded thinking, by drawing upon the best ideas from whatever sources or philosophical arenas and working toward practical and effective resolutions of our communities challenges.
Education
I attended college at Ohio Wesleyan University where I received a BA in 1970 with a double major in English and Politics & Government. I was elected to two academic honorary societies. After graduating I studied business and economics at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. In 1971, I took a leave of absence from Wharton and accepted a position with Superior’s Brand Meats, a multi-state meat packer in Ohio. At the same time, I began law school in the evenings at the University of Akron.
I received a Juris Doctor and the Bancroft Whitney Award for Civil Procedure at the University of Akron Law School, graduating in 1975. I moved to Colorado that summer and began working for the Holly Sugar Corporation.

Jen Sugermeyer - - www.JenSugermeyer.com
From fear to fearless, Jen took her scars and shattered pieces and took back the life that was taken from her. Broken and ashamed, Jen led a double-life before everyone’s eyes, and was slowly dying inside. Afraid of the repercussions of asking for help, admitting she had a problem, and taking the time to unravel years of damage, for over two decades Jen couldn’t manage to break the cycle of addiction in her life. Her pain came not only from her own abuse, but the physical and mental abuse she endured in an abusive relationship.
In and out of jails and hospitals, Jen’s life was entirely unmanageable- she was only able keep her corporate life isolated, but she knew she was playing with fire. Jen knew it wasn’t long until her hidden life would be exposed at the office- her inner demon was getting stronger and stronger and she was losing control of her progressive disease.
Lying to cover her physical and emotional bruises, Jen was at her breaking point….until her life changed.
It was none of her lows or her bottoms that changed her life- it was the kind words uttered by someone who genuinely cared that made her realize that she was worth fighting for- and that’s what she did.
Jen embarked on the fight of her life- for her life- and she aims to share her strength and encourage others to claim the life they deserve!

Adi Jaffe, Ph.D. is a nationally recognized expert on mental health, addiction, relationships and shame. He was a UCLA lecturer in the Psychology department at UCLA for the better part of a decade and was the Executive-Director and Co-Founder of one of the most progressive mental health treatment facilities in the country - until he started IGNTD. Dr. Jaffe's work and research focus on changing the way Americans think about, and deal with mental health issues. He is passionate about the role of shame in destroying lives and aims to greatly reduce the stigma of mental health in this country. In this context, Dr. Jaffe has used his personal experience as an incredibly effective inspirational and motivational tool. Dr. Jaffe attended UCLA, graduating with a B.A. in psychology. It was during his undergraduate career that Adi began struggling with drug issues himself, eventually leading to a 4 year hiatus from studies and into the Los Angeles drug-dealing world where he became quite successful. During that period of his life, Adi's days looked more like a re-enactment of a beatnik novel or a Quentin Tarantino film than the life of an upper-middle class suburban kid. Following a SWAT team arrest in his apartment, and extended court case and a year-long jail sentence, Adi began rebuilding his life. This eventually led to his attainment of a Ph.D. from UCLA's top-rated doctoral program in psychology, where he graduated with honors. Even before he graduated Dr. Jaffe’s name had become known through his online and academic writing. His views on addiction and his research on the topic have been published in dozens of journals and online publications and he has appeared on numerous television shows and documentaries discussing current topics in addiction and the problem of addiction as a whole. Dr. Jaffe now writes a blog on Psychology Today, and several other online and print sources. His goal is to bring the latest knowledge about addiction to the people who could benefit from it most – those who are suffering because of it. His writing combines personal experience with a decade’s worth of fine-detail research regarding the mechanisms involved in the addictive process.
Dr. Adi Jaffe:
An out-of-the-box thinker who isn't afraid to challenge the status quo to get results. Dr. Jaffe brings vision, the ability to incorporate information from different fields, leadership, tenacity and the ability to cut through to the truth in every project. ✅ Writing - Dr. Jaffe has written for CNN.com, Huffington Post, Psychology Today and dozens of other publications and websites. His focus is on challenging the status quo and bringing about change that improves lives.
✅ Research and project development - Through graduate school and post-doc work, he learned to always look for data to guide his decision making.
Dr. Adi Jaffe's main focus is on using his skills and connections to reduce the shame experienced by millions and increasing the reach of treatment for mental health issues. Through this work, he improves work conditions, life-experience and general well-being.

Dan Wise - Federal Prison Consultant
Dan Wise founded RDAP Dan | Federal Prison Time Consulting, LLC in 2015, after successfully navigating the Federal Prison system, culminating in his early release. Dan wanted to help other people facing federal prison time to have the same success in learning from the experience and achieving federal prison sentence reduction. He began by creating YouTube videos, and his business grew from there.
Dan Wise and Jenny Good created a proprietary Success Method™, combining the strengths of an experienced Prison Consultant and a talented Coach to guide clients through a process focused on increasing clients’ chances for sentence reduction.
Dan's vision included special support for the families of those facing federal incarceration, an often underserved segment in other prison consultancy models. If your family is experiencing difficulties as a result of your legal situation, we can help.
Dan tells it like it is. We understand that the unknown and waiting in limbo can be the most difficult parts of this process. As a client, his straight-forward approach lets you know exactly what to expect as a federal defendant.
When not working with federal prison consulting clients, you might find Dan playing poker with friends or relaxing with his pets.

Reducing Recidivism through the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People on the Inside Program.
Listen to Jeff Carney of Franklin Covey and the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People talk about his mission is to make a positive difference in people's lives, to help organizations get better, sustainable results through proven processes, and to help leaders lead. One of the unique things I have had the honor of working on for several years is the 7 Habits on the Inside. It teaches inmates and staff how to lead themselves. Offenders often change incorrect paradigms, take responsibility for their actions, develop effective communication skills, and strive to create a positive legacy. For staff and officers, our processes help give back the years they lose working in an extremely stressful environment.

Tanya and Jerry Gioia:
After years of struggling in our marriage with addiction, co-dependency, anger and despair the "other shoe did drop". Police, courts, and a 23-month martial separation brought our marriage to a halt in front of the only one who could fix it, Jesus.
Let's just say we were a total mess! If we can move from a dying stuck marriage you can too.
We did not do it alone. So many loving couples and friends walked beside us as we learned how to be married and sober. That is the mission of the Sober on Purpose Podcast standing with you as you move forward from addiction to sobriety to thriving in your marriage and family life.
One of the main things we learned during this process was to laugh. Remember the laughter and love you once had in your marriage and family life? Let us help you get that back.
We want to provide you with resources, recovery stories, and action steps to bring you into the whole life that God planned just for you.

You made it! So here's a little about me, Kelsey Witherow -- the proud founder of Doughp...
From the words of Kelsey herself.....
First off - I've got an insatiable sweet tooth, a passion for making people happy, and a love of creating wild confections! I was raised by a big family in Sacramento, California who can all agree on one thing – food. is. awesome.
While I spent (and enjoyed!) a decade in high-tech product marketing before starting Doughp, my one true love is dessert. It's a toss-up if I like baking more or watching other people enjoy what I make! To put your heart into something, truly enjoy doing it, and see others light up with their first bite – there's nothing more rewarding than that.
Unfortunately, I'd lost my love of baking for a number of years. I was sort of coasting through life; killing it at school and with my corporate job - but in my personal life I was struggling with addiction. My issues with alcohol started in high school and ballooned during my years in college. I passed it off, as many do, to just crazy college times and that I'd get the hang of it as I got older. But I never did. My relationship with alcohol was unhealthy and to still have so many nights into my mid-twenties where I'd wake up terribly embarrassed, confused, and with just partial memories from the night before - I knew it was time to call it quits. I wanted to be the best version of myself, all the time.
After getting sober in 2015, I rediscovered that love of baking. Cookies to be precise...and occasionally not always baking that dough. Cookies are the ultimate go-to. Without fail, any time I made cookies, I'd always save some of the cookie dough for snacking on. Cookies are a total 2-for-1; melt-in-your mouth dough before you bake it, and warm chewy cookies after baking! I felt like a bit of an unnecessary rebel though, as consuming raw eggs in the dough was definitely not chill. As I turned to a healthier lifestyle and became what I call a 'part-time vegan" over the last few years, I'd swapped the recipe's eggs for a vegan substitute. I was a pretty awful vegan TBH, so I was leaving those eggs out but including butter (PSA: Butter is incredible.) And BOOM - I realized I'd made an indulgent and slightly more "guilt-free" way to dig in without risking getting sick!
Once I had this delicious dessert, it was time to figure out how to get it out to the masses! Building Doughp was a way to bring this widely-loved sweet out of your kitchen and into the public where you can enjoy it with friends, family or out on a date. I wanted to build a dessert shop that had those Bay Area vibes and was full of pop culture references and ridiculous sayings my friends & I use. Raised in Northern California, I crafted this brand for my fellow millennials; building off the different cultures/experiences I grew up with. I'm bringing out a treat that can bring back childhood memories - with a brand that is anything but childish. Doughp is a little edgy, slightly sarcastic, and delicious AF.
I can most certainly say Doughp wouldn't exist if I hadn't made the decision to stop drinking and I hope my journey can inspire others struggling with their own addictions. Really dope stuff can happen in sobriety, I promise... :)
So here I am! Doughp is ready to rock your world and make this world a little sweeter.
Stay chill,
Kels

Jesse Wilson, CEO
Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Jesse Wilson is the CEO and Founder of Tell The Winning Story, a communications effectiveness program that helps people step into their true communications power through the raw power of the theater.
In his own words…
“Weeks before I left for New York City to study acting professionally at Juilliard, a great friend from high school made the choice to take his own life. I spent years trying to come up with a reason for why he did it, and out of all the theories, I believe that he chose to take his own life because of a belief system he had allowed to mold into what he thought was his true identity. This experience helped me form the basis of my work with Tell The Winning Story and to discover “my role” in this world beyond the stage.
I know that what I now consider success as a teacher and artist is 100 percent based on helping people awaken to the reality of who they are at their core, once the mask is removed. This is what I call Living The Greater Story. For me, helping people achieve this state is the greatest high in the world.
After graduating from Juilliard, it became my personal mission to share the invaluable and universally impactful lessons from the stage in order for people to reach their maximum potential in both their career and personal lives. As a communications specialist, I work with many different groups of people, but I consider all the work I share as one lesson: how to use the obstacles in our lives to live a greater story.”
Integrating the best of cutting edge self-empowerment programs, business presentation skills, transformational leadership and healing arts principals, plus over 20 years of working in the theater, Tell The Winning Story is a success tool for Lawyers, Leaders, Veterans, Athletes, Artists, Teachers, Entrepreneurs, and all who defy titles looking to give their peak performance in every area of their lives.
Jesse has applied these communication skills in prisons, courtrooms and boardrooms, and has studied how stories can affect audiences in extremely powerful ways when the presenter is tuned into their greatest source of power and living their own greater story.

Saving Lives of Addicts Through The Marchman Act and Mark Astor
MARK G. ASTOR BIO
Born and raised in the United Kingdom until the age of twenty-one, Mark Astor has been an attorney since 1994. Before entering private practice, Mr. Astor began his legal career as a prosecutor with the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office. Mr. Astor served the citizens of Palm Beach County as an Assistant State Attorney from 1994-1999. During his career as a prosecutor, he served as Chief of two different County Court Divisions and, thereafter, was promoted to a felony trial division. He has handled thousands of cases ranging from first-degree misdemeanors to Capital Murder.
Mr. Astor was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1994 and, in 1995, was admitted to practice before the U. S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. In 2005, he was admitted to the District of Columbia Bar. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Michigan in 1990, his Juris Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University College of Law in 1994, and his Master of Laws Degree (L.L.M.) from American University, Washington College of Law in 2005.
Mr. Astor’s law practice, Drug and Alcohol Attorneys (http://drugandalcoholattorneys.com) focuses on representing and empowering individuals who are in crisis because of drug, alcohol and mental heath disorders. Many times, individuals or families come to Mr. Astor because they have a friend or loved one who either refuses to go into treatment, or will not stay in treatment. When this is the case, Mr. Astor gives counsel to help navigate through the Marchman Act process, Florida’s involuntary commitment law for drug, alcohol and co-occurring mental heath disorders. Additionally, Mr. Astor provides counsel when there is a need to file an Emergency Guardianship Petition (ETG) so that an individual who is no longer competent to make medical decisions for themselves can have that burden taken off their shoulders. On other occasions, individuals find themselves in the criminal justice system and need assistance navigating it’s complexities, having been arrested for an offense that stems from drug addiction or mental health disorders.
When he’s not working in his law practice, Mr. Astor empowers members of the community by teaching Krav Maga (the Israeli system of hand to hand taught to the military, special forces and anti-terror units). He also enjoys an early morning work out believing that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind.

Nate Wilson is a personal trainer and author in recovery from meth and heroin addiction. He recently released his first book "Zero To Hero: The tale of my recovery from addiction and psychosis"
He runs a mentorship program with youth from his hometown Woodland Park, CO. Nate is also in the foundation of developing new programs and new curriculum to help addicts get into a new and prosperous lifestyle.
Zero To Hero is the story of Nate Wilson’s recovery from drug addictions and vicious, drug-induced psychosis, starting in the small town of Woodland Park, Colorado. This book will take you through the beginnings of an average church-going, sport-loving kid who turns into a hardcore drug addict. Nate tells of a life started from what most would consider functional and healthy from his perspective and looks into some of the risk factors overlooked by a “normal” family that could cause a young teenager to dive headfirst into the pool of meth use. Tragedy after tragedy, trips to jail, snorting coke before church, and in the end, leaving all of the pain of the past behind to be a successful personal trainer and entrepreneur.

How I Overcame A Decade Of Drinking By Changing My Relationship With Alcohol
This Naked Mind works by ending the conflict between your conscious desire to drink less, and your unconscious belief that alcohol is beneficial.
Annie Grace grew up in a one-room log cabin without running water or electricity outside of Aspen, Colorado. She discovered a passion for marketing and after graduating with a Masters of Science (Marketing) she dove into corporate life. At the age of 26, Annie was the youngest vice president in a multinational company, and her drinking career began in earnest. At 35, in a global C-level marketing role, she was responsible for marketing in 28 countries and drinking almost two bottles of wine a night. Knowing she needed a change but unwilling to submit to a life of deprivation and stigma, Annie set out to find a painless way to regain control. Annie no longer drinks and has never been happier. She left her executive role to write this book and share This Naked Mind with the world. In her free time, Annie loves to ski, travel (26 countries and counting), and enjoy her beautiful family. Annie lives with her husband and two sons in the Colorado mountains.

Dawn Westmoreland: The Empowered Whistleblower : Getting over victimhood
Dawn Marie Westmoreland has always found her joy in inspiring, supporting, and empowering those who need it most. That joy has been reflected in her career and continues to be her driving force to this day. Dawn has also experienced workplace bullying and discrimination first-hand. In 2012, Dawn reported her former government agency to the Office of Special Counsel and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for prohibited personnel practices and retaliation. As a result, her managers and co-workers turned on her, and she was subjected to two years of horrific workplace bullying and discrimination. These years wreaked havoc on Dawn’s mental and physical health, but she persevered. Holding her workplace bullies accountable, Dawn settled with her employer outside of court. Because of her knowledge of HR and leadership skills, she has no gag order to prevent her from sharing her story to empower others who look to her for help. This experience, as well as overcoming her personal history of abuse, has strengthened Dawn’s personal mission to educate and inspire those who are or have suffered from workplace bullying and discrimination.
Dawn is on the Board of Directors with Fifty Shades of Purple Against Bullying as a subject matter expert on workplace bullying and discrimination. http://www.workplacebullyingsupport.com/

Casey Lucarelli, Clinical Social Work/Therapist, MSW, LSW
My private practice focuses on the emotional well-being of adolescents and adults. I specialize in working with individuals who struggle with addiction/substance abuse and an array of issues specific to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. It takes a lot of courage to face some undesirable truths about oneself and inviting a therapist on this journey can be overwhelming. I hold a safe and non-judgemental space for my clients and practice from a place of compassion and acceptance. My hope is for you to gain insight and thrive throughout your life rather than just survive.

This is a power packed podcast. Make sure to listen all the way through to hear Aaron's incredibly powerful testimony about unconditional love saving his life....
Aaron Huey, Co-Founder, President
Aaron has been working with children, teens, and parents for over 18 years. After ten years directing camps and empowerment programs around the world, Aaron opened Fire Mountain because he wanted to work with kids and families on a deeper level. Over the first few years of running programs like Teen Rites of PassageThe Warrior Phoenix Challenge, and numerous cries for help from parents, Aaron realized the need to turn his efforts towards teens struggling with drugs, alcohol and the behaviors and issues related to addiction. An addict in recovery since 2000, he felt a calling to put together an expert team and open Fire Mountain. His mission is to awaken confidence and leadership. “It‘s not about being better, it‘s about giving up the struggle to be different from who you are.”
Aaron’s formal educational background is in acting. He graduated from the top acting school in the US, The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1990. His skills in comedy and drama make him an influential speaker and presenter, and a favorite among the kids. His confidence, compassion, and humor set the tone for deep healing, and fun.

How My ography Addiction Hurt People and Destroyed Relationships
Joshua Shea seemingly had it all. A loving wife, two children, and a supportive extended family. In 2010, he launched a lifestyle magazine in his hometown. Within a year, he was one of the founders of Central Maine's largest film festival and had won a seat on his City Council. Accolades, including receiving the Key to the City and being called one of the "Next 10 People Shaping Maine's Economy" by a state newspaper followed.
While the public got one picture of Shea, behind closed doors, his longtime mental health and addiction issues were festering. A workaholic by nature, he actively ignored the red flags surrounding his long-existing ography and alcohol problems. Finding it easier to lose himself in a bottle of tequila and adult websites, Shea's relationships with his family, colleagues, and friends grew distant. His business ventures began to collapse.
Life as he knew it came to a screeching halt when he was arrested on a charge of underage ography possession in 2014. Shea was convicted and served six months in jail in early 2016. Following his arrest, he sought help and treatment through intense one-on-one therapy, group therapy, and at inpatient rehab facilities. He has been sober almost four years.
Bothered at the lack of quality resources and open discussion around the topic of ography addiction, Shea is now sharing with the public his experience with the addiction in the hope he can help people to not head down the same road that he did.
Shea recounts the last several years of his life leading up to his legal trouble and how his poor judgment and bad decision making led to a life he never thought was possible

Leo Bryant's inspiration and motivation to do what he does comes from the little town he was raised in in Southwest Florida by the name of Immokalee. With a population of less than 5,000 people and heavily populated by immigrant migrant workers he witnessed and encountered a unique blend of cultures and work ethics. In addition, being raised by a hard working single mother and grandmother, it became evident to Leo at an early age that nobody just gives you anything in life. He witnessed his mother work two and three shifts daily for years, as well as be mistreated by friends, family, and the church community, in addition to his grandmother working just as hard for years to help make ends meet. As Leo matured being the oldest of 8 children, he was naturally forced to grow up at an early age and do whatever it took to assist his parents in feeding their family and learned what it meant to lead by example in school, in life, and on the athletic fields.
…Present day Leo works feverishly to establish a counseling practice that works to serve as a light in the darkness for individuals regardless of their race, gender, socio-economic status, and culture that will teach and guide individuals to overcoming diagnosed and un-diagnosed mental health challenges as well as getting past rough spots through their personal and professional lives.
Speaking as a father of two beautiful sons, co-parent & partner to a remarkable woman, and son and brother to an awesome family Leo challenges you to step outside your box and embrace change welcome knowledge, love, and wisdom into your life.
