The concept of the trinity is one of God's greatest mysteries. But today worshippers seemed to be very aware of the presence of God, especially God the Holy Spirit. The service includes "The Reproaches" a series of antiphons and responses used in many Good Friday services around the world. The text contrasts God’s goodness to us with humanity’s enactment of evil against God’s Son. They are based on Micah 6:3: "O my people, what have I done to you? In what have I wearied you? Answer me!"
The response to each antiphon is: "Holy God, holy and mighty, Holy and Immortal One, have mercy upon us."

This 4th Sunday of Advent worship service posed some wonderful questions: "Have you ever wondered about the significance of where and when you were born? Think of the significance of being born in the USA. Is there anything insignificant in your life?" The Second Sunday of Advent calls us to reconsider the PEACE of Christ. Do you trust in God's righteousness, or are you more self-righteous? Are we truly humble as we wait for the coming of Christ, or are we practicing a false humility? Do we really believe that Christ came for ALL people? These are a few of the questions raised during the sermon on the First Sunday of Advent,, recorded Dec. 2.
In each life happiness and sadness are so often intertwined. How can we help but worry? How can we honestly be thankful for the sad times and for the bad things that happen to us? These highlights of the Nov. 18 worship service present some tough questions but also remind us that "Whatever we're going through, God is there." The Scripture lessons for this Sunday were: Joel 2: 21-27, I Timothy 2:1-7 and Matthew 6:25-33.
Pastor Tom Reed poses some tough questions about life during this sermon: Why do people respond as they do? How well do we know each other? Are you a true Christian? The Scripture readings include Mark 12:38-44 and Hebrews 9:24-28.
“What do you want me to do for you?” If Jesus asked you that question right now, for what would you ask?; Pastor Tom leads us in reflecting on this and related questions in this podcast, recorded on October 21, 2018.
The rich young man asked a common question: "What must I do to be saved?" You've probably had a similar question--if you've thought much about God at all. In his sermon, Pastor Tom discusses both salvation and blessings. Which comes first, in God's way of doing things--forgiveness or repentance? How "good" does one have to be to be loved by God? Pastor Tom led us in considering these and other questions of faith based on these Scriptures: 2 Samuel 11:26 - 12:13a; Ephesians 4: 1-16; and John 6:24-35.
David was a great King -- and a great sinner. Like him, we all must choose between good and bad -- but also between good, better, and best. How often do we compromise for good and neglect what's best? Does God really want us to understand our enemies? Pastor Tom Reed is in the pulpit, Jerrie Sue Massengale is at the piano.
