How does a modern woman deepen her faith in Jesus Christ? How does she maintain conviction amid trial? How does her story shape her relationship with the Savior? What can she do - really DO - to feel God's presence in her life all the time? What makes a "Certain Woman?" On The Certain Woman Podcast, host Tess Frame explores how real life and faith are intertwined. After a near-death experience, she gained a wider perspective for the preciousness of life, the importance of faith, and the desire to study. She brings you study tips, meditation exercises, spiritual practices, and inspirational stories to inspire you, and connect you to fellow female disciples with lives as beautiful and real as yours. The phrase "Certain Woman" comes from the Book of Luke, where he uses the phrase to refer to women who had been healed from "evil spirits and infirmities." In 2016, Linda K. Burton gave a talk at the spring general conference for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in which she explored a deeper meaning of the phrase. Instead of being a synonym for "some," "those," or "a few," the word certain means "decided," "knowing," and "sure." With thousands of downloads in its first season, The Certain Woman Podcast is reaching new listeners every day. Join us in this movement of faithful and steadfast women!
A few weeks ago, Megan Hillyer from the Modern Genealogy Podcast interviewed me about a genealogy project that's dear to my heart! I wanted to share the experience with my own listeners, and she graciously agreed to repost the episode here, to The Certain Woman Podcast.
I've been helping my grandfather transcribe and edit a book containing the romantic letters between his mother and father during the Great Depression. As I transcribed the letters, these two people, who I previously had very little actual connection to, became real to me, as if I had known them. It's been a beautiful experience of getting to know and love my ancestors, and perform this act of preservation for them and my grandfather.
I'm excited to share this bonus episode with you! If you're interested in more family history stories, how-to's, and guidance, check out the Modern Genealogy Podcast.

Raising kids in today's world is no easy feat! In this episode, fellow boy mom Brooke Romney and I sit down and chat about motherhood. We discuss how our upbringings influenced the type of mothers we've become, and relate to some of the parents of the scriptures - namely Mary, the mother of Jesus, and the mothers (and fathers) of the stripling warriors in the Book of Mormon.
This episode is for everyone, parents or not, raising boys, girls, or a combination of both!
Brooke Romney recently published her book "I Like Me Anyway: Embracing Imperfection, Connection, and Christ." It is available on Amazon, Audible, and in select Costco stores.

Compassion, responsibility, and rest. Are these words that come to mind when you think of prison? For ex-convict Portia Louder, a life-shattering prison sentence for real estate fraud felt like the end of the world. As an LDS woman, a wife, and mother of young children, being separated from her family was unimaginable. But her time in prison ended up being a practice in love, forgiveness, and accountability.
In this episode, Portia shares some of the beautiful experiences she shared in prison, and how she came to take responsibility for her actions, rather than pass the buck or play the victim of a corrupt industry. It turns out, prison isn't just what TV paints it to be. Bonding with and supporting other women in prison gave her a perspective on how God loves all of his children, and how everyone deserves ministry, kindness, and love.
Portia now advocates for and serves others impacted by the prison system.

Morgan Norman joins me to discuss how she overcame a long-term stomach illness and subsequent eating disorder. Her mission was disrupted by unexpected health problems which caused rapid weight loss. While her body was shutting down, strangers, friends, and even medical professionals complimented her on how she looked. She became obsessed with those compliments and this new body image, even at the expense of her health. The more "perfect" her body became, the more broken her spirit became.
Listen to the full episode to hear why she thinks having imperfect bodies is an essential part of God's Plan for us on Earth, and why our spirits are bigger than our bodies could ever properly represent.

Today I'm interviewing Jolene Winn, life coach and mentor to women with spouses addicted to pornography. After she discovered her own husband had a secret porn addiction, she struggled with feelings of inadequacy and betrayal, and learned to separate her own progress and personal value from her husband's issues. Through their recovery process, she learned how to find forgiveness to her marriage, and how that same forgiveness also applied to her.
In this episode, we talk about the nature of addiction and how it can alter your perceptions of yourself and your eternal worth, and discuss some of the tools we've developed through our own separate recoveries as we've sought healing.

In this episode, I'm talking with Stephanie Ingram. She's a mom of five and a survivor of multiple cardiac arrest events, which she had unknowingly prepared and strengthened herself for. Her story is shocking and full of perfect metaphors. She shares her insights of what it means to be a Certain Woman, and how our seemingly small everyday actions are actually the micro-fortifications that will keep us close to Christ.

You’re listening to The Certain Woman Podcast, where women of faith share perspectives of mercy, grace, ministry, and eternity. I’m your host, Tess Frame, writer, mom, and trauma survivor.
Join me this season for interviews with some incredible guests, as well as solo episodes where we dive into what it means to be a Certain Woman in today’s world.
We’re going to discuss gospel topics with women doing awesome things in the church and in the world, learn about some of the Certain Women in the scriptures, and come away with some useful and tangible takeaways.
My goal with this podcast is to help women of every faith grow in testimony, and learn applicable ways to develop their own spirituality and build their lives around God.
I started this podcast in 2020, a year after I survived a major medical trauma, which you can hear more about in the very first episode.
I knew, after my miraculous recovery, that I had a higher purpose on this earth.
I felt the call to find and magnify my faith, and I KNEW I wasn’t the only one. I wanted to find other faithful women who knew their eternal worth, and were working to be a source of light in an often dark world.
It DOESN’T MATTER how strong you believe your testimony to be, where you are in your efforts to grow closer to God, or even what faith you belong to. Together, we can teach and share the Spirit with our families, friends, and communities, and lift each other up. Listen along and learn some new ways to find and demonstrate your faith, raise YOURSELF up in the gospel so you can raise OTHERS up, and grow closer to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
If you have a podcast episode you’d like to pitch or a guest you’d like to nominate, find me on Instagram @thecertainwoman. I’d love your help as we reach out to women around the world and grow a network of faith.
I can’t wait to share more with you. Thanks so much for listening!
