Jakeem Atwell is a Hip-Hop Artist & Producer from Miami, Fla who goes by the name Jakeem HD. Jakeem grew up in some of Miami’s most notorious neighborhoods and was raised by his loving mother and step-father. His father was addicted to drugs during Jakeem’s youth but overcame them in the latter a part of his life. When Jakeem was 13 one of his sisters was killed in a drive-by shooting at the age of 21. His love for basketball saved his life and his coaches played a major role by keeping him out of the streets and focused. Jakeem decided that he would not become a product of his environment and in 2009 Jakeem attended Bethune Cookman University in Daytona Beach Fla. His love for music brought him back to Miami in 2010 where he began to develop his own sound and created his own entertainment platform called Dopartistry, LLC through which he markets and promotes his brand, along with providing graphic design services, video production, event hosting and studio production to other artists and brands. With an interest in Neo-Soul and Southern Hip Hop Jakeem does not follow the typical “street norm”. Jakeem's catalog is filled with Very Original & Soulful music with a message within every song, keeping it fun and lyrical respecting the true aspects and history of the Hip-Hop Genre.
