In this message Pastor Joseph asks the question, "Are you willing to embark on the hazardous journey of fellowshipping with other Believers?" Well, are you? Have you ever considered the importance of fellowship to your Christian faith?
"All the days of the afflicted are evil, but he who is of a merry heart has a continual feast." How is your heart? Are you feasting continually? How does our experience with God change all of our other experiences?
Are you afraid to die? In times of uncertainty we all make decisions based on something, are you making your decisions based on fear of death? Sometimes being afraid to die means we are also afraid to live fully. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but by me." Are you coming to the Father through Jesus Christ?
How should we respond to the Corona Virus response? Pastor Joseph looks at the response as a pastor and a storyteller. Which are you struggling with the most, the virus or other people's response to the virus?
Is it possible to be transparent and honest with others even if they are not being completely transparent and honest with us? Is it necessary? How much should a Believer keep things to themselves versus sharing struggles openly?
Paul the Ambassador. Current circumstance? In chains. Battle ready? Yes, fully armed.
Have you ever considered how many of God's Ambassadors have been in chains or difficult circumstances?
When Adam and Eve were tempted they gave in to temptation and ate. When Jesus was tempted He refused to partake but rather resisted until the devil left and the angels came. The whole purpose of the Armor of God is to equip us in the necessary disciplines during the boring times so we will be able to stand during the times of attack. When you face temptation, does it end with the devil fleeing and the angels coming?
How have you prayed? How has God answered?
Do you have a sense of a listening God who will respond to your prayer? This message explores some of the ways the Bible speaks of the prayers of the saints. May you be encouraged to pray boldly and expectantly.
The Word of God - the Sword of the Spirit. A powerful weapon in our armor. Are we intimidated by those who say they don't believe in our weapon? This message contains a parable concerning a village in which everybody was commissioned with a Sword, until one day a dark stranger started hanging around the village square.
May this parable strengthen you in your faith as you continually wield the Sword of the Spirit.
The Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus I take the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Teach me Lord to carry it well, to use it effectively. Let Your Word rule in my heart and in my mind today. Thank you for equipping me with this strong weapon. Teach us to apply your Word to every aspect of our lives.
When you think of a helmet, what comes to mind as the thing you are trying to protect? The Helmet of Salvation seems to protect our minds, eyes, ears, and mouth.
The Prayer: Father, I take the helmet of salvation. I want to think your thoughts after you and take every other thought captive. Give me your eyes that I might see with an eternal perspective. I choose to speak your word to myself and to others. Give me ears to hear what you are saying to me and to your people. I will think and meditate on You- and on whatever is noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report; Lord you are all these and you are virtuous and worthy of praise.
Among the rest of the armor, the shield may be the most clanky piece that seems to get in your way the most when you're just trying to enjoy life. How much does your faith interfere with your daily life? Are you forced to interact with it constantly?
A constant awareness of who Christ is in every circumstance we face exercises and activates our faith.
Some of the pieces of armor suggest protection, or fighting, but this one suggests traveling. Going somewhere. Are your feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace so that you can walk into every situation knowing that your God is fighting for you?
The Breastplate of Righteousness is positioned to protect our heart- the origin of our belief. What are you doing to protect your believer?
