We finish our study of the Exodus story in this week's episode.
We will be taking a break this summer and start a new study the first week of August.
God led the people with a pillar of fire and cloud. Why was that comforting to the Israelites? And why did God change His mind?
We look at a section of this story you probably skip over most reads. But we find two massive concepts within it that help us understand Jesus.
We explore the final plague and dive deep into the mystery of how Israel could have 2-3 million people when all the evidence suggests otherwise.... and why that supports the message of the Exodus.
We look at the plagues in general, and how we should view them before digging into the first plague.
We find a couple of ver confusing passages in today's section. God tries to kill Moses and tells us He is going to harden Pharaoh's heart so that he won't do what God wants. We make all this make sense in today's study.
We dig into Moses's encounter with God at the burning bush, and what it means for us and what we can learn about our callings.
Moses encounters God. We look at why he almost missed it and how we can avoid missing encounters with God in our lives.
What kind of person was Moses? And were there other people who worshipped God besides the Hebrews?
Enter Moses. we look at what led to his mother's seemingly insane actions and why they were blessed by God.
Pharaoh saw the people of Israel as a threat, and acted out how he saw fit. That didn't get in God's way.
We are starting a new study this week. We'll be looking at the Exodus story for the next several months. This story is probably the most quoted and referenced in the New Testament. The language of the exodus is everywhere. Understanding it will help you understand Jesus.
We finish up the description of the New Jerusalem this week, as well as look at how all the promises to the seven churches were fulfilled.
Irenaeus, Origen, Augustine, Jonathan Edwards. We look at these four prominent theologians views on this extremely controversial section of the Bible.
I did not mention it in the podcast, but I am aware that Origen was condemned as a heretic by several ecumenical councils in the 500-600's primarily for his doctrine of apocatastasis panton (universal salvation), and several other fringe doctrines. My use of his view neither acknowledges nor condemns the status of his salvation. I entirely disagree with the doctrine of universal salvation, but I also cannot ignore the irrefutable contributions Origen of Alexandria made to Christian thought.
Jesus returns to deal with evil once and for all. We knew that already. The better questions is how?
We look at the conclusion of the saga of the whore of Babylon and the celebration that follows.
John takes us on one of his delaying interludes to give us some of his backstory and motivation.
We finish the first septenary of Revelation and prepare for the next. Don't know what that means? Watch and find out!
Things start to get other worldly as we diving into the vision of God bringing about His justice on the earth.
We finish the ceremony started in chapter 4. We see who is truly worthy and why they're worthy to enact God's justice on creation.
Today we look at a rare glimpse into the throne room of heaven. The place where God the Father resides, controls, and watches.
We conclude our study of the seven letters of Revelation with arguably the most famous, the letter to the church in Laodicea.
We look at what Jesus has to say to the church in Philadelphia, and discuss the rapture.
The church in Sardis was comfortable and safe. They looked alive and healthy, but Jesus said they were dead. We talk about why this week.
We begin to look at the scene letters to the seven churches, first by looking at the letter to the church in Ephesus.
John wants us to reimagine Jesus. Sometimes we maybe get too comfortable in how we approach Him. This week we look at a Jesus you've probably never seen before, but is still the same Jesus you've always known.
We officially read some of Revelation this week. We look at the introduction. In these 8 short verses, we learn a LOT about Revelation. It is dense and full of symbols and deeper meanings. This is going to get interesting!
People only listen to what they want to hear. They refuse to stop and listen to someone else's argument. They only want to be right. Sound familiar? Well it's exactly what Jude is addressing in this 2000 year old letter.
Jude takes us back through how false teachers have led God's people astray in the past and how the consequences found them.
We start and finish John's third letter. In it we look at how the truth of Jesus should be the gravity spot that affects everything else in our lives
How do we handle the situation when someone claims to be a Christian but teaches false doctrine? Or when they choose to live in sin? 'Shun the non-believer'? 'Tolerate their truth'? We look at what John, Paul and Jesus have to say on the subject this week as we finish 2 John.
To follow Jesus is a big deal. It causes us to act as we respond to how Jesus acted towards us.
Just when we think John has covered everything on this topic, he starts into a new dimension that changes the way we understand everything he's already said.
How can we tell if someone is teaching orthodox doctrine or not? How do we know if someone is truly from God?
John unpacks a lot, and hopefully today's study will save you from some undeserved guilt and fear.
In this week's video we look at what an antichrist actually is and why it's probably not what you think.
We are forgiven before we sin through the cross. But we are still sinners. How does that play out in our real lives?

Learning your first language was easy (probably). Learning a new language is work. In the last passages from Paul's letter, he spells out some way Christians need to learn how to act.
Last week we looked at how Jesus's impending return will affect the dead. This week we look at how it affects the living.
The Thessalonians expected to be alive when Jesus returned and were concerned for their Christian brother and sisters who had already dies. Death and the end times are confusing enough, but these early believers didn't have a Bible to study to find their answers. So Paul provides one for them.
Paul tells the church how to spend its money, and we can learn a lot from his instructions.
Chapter 4 deals with 3 major topics for the believer; sex, money, and death. This week, we look at what it means to live sexually holy lives. Parents, this is your warning. There's nothing graphic, be we do discuss some topics that you might find uncomfortable to listen to with young children.
Paul knew the church he had fathered was suffering, but he couldn't go to them to help. He had to do something. This week we look at why he sent Timothy and what Timothy said about this church when he returned.
Things are not all sunshine and rainbows in Thessalonica since Paul left, but you might think that up to this point in the letter. Here Paul addresses the storms that have hit and tells the church how to deal with them.
Paul wasn't the first preacher to roll into town. Those who came before him had a bad habit of abusing, using, manipulating, and robbing their listeners. Paul was different, but that didn't stop the haters.
The Thessalonians did it right, even though they didn't get to hear everything they should have and were also immediately thrown to the lions (maybe literally.) In this week's episode, we look at Paul's first words to this incredible group of Christians since he was run out of town several months earlier.

We take a look at the opening to Paul's letter to the churches in Asia Minor. This section contains Paul's prayer of thankfulness for what Jesus has done for us. Most of it is just one sentence, but by the end of it, you should be able to sing a similar song.
Did Paul really write the letter to the Ephesians? Was it even written to the church in Ephesus? Can we trust it? We answer these questions as we kick off our study of Ephesians.
Christians seem to be missing a huge opportunity to show love to the world around them. This week I explain why I think every Christian should be wearing masks in public and following social distance guidelines, and it has nothing to do with whether masks work or not, and everything to do with showing your neighbors and strangers you care. My fear is that Christians are only harming their reputation through constant grandstanding about government overreach and conspiracy theories and not using this golden chance to distinguish themselves as a people of kindness, compassion, and love.
