On Friday 28 February 2020, the BDP MPs staged a walk out to kill a motion to establish a commission on inequality proposed by Hon. Taolo Lucas. The reasoning by the BDP Chief Whip was as follows “The thing is he refused to give is opportunity to ask and understand more about the motion he was presenting. This is parliament, not freedom square. The MP should know that because we cannot progress with the motion while we do not understand it. Walking out was better rather than wasting time.” The reasoning is bereft of any intellectual capital. Was the move by the BDP an abrogation of duty or partisan grandstanding?
