On the first episode of Euromeister 24, the first matchday of the Euros is covered with the added bonus of guests! Alexs Woodward, Towells and Tant-Brown look back at the first twelve games: Germany get off to a great start by smashing Scotland 5-1, the shock of the round sees Belgium lose 1-0 to Slovakia, whilst Albania's goal after 23 seconds is not enough to see them get anything out of Italy. France and England have disappointing performances despite winning, and Türkiye and Georgia put on a show in a 3-1 Turkish win. Also on the pod: Towells says he loves a big coq, Tant-Brown complains about late stage capitalism, the worst kits at the tournament, some fans of referees, and the continent descends into a food war.

Alex rounds up the 2023/24 season on Going Deutsch with a review of the 2. Bundesliga. St. Pauli win the league but have plenty of worries going into the top flight, Kiel make their first trip to the first tier after finishing second, whilst Düsseldorf miss out after blowing a 3-0 lead in the play-offs. At the wrong end of the table, Osnabrück and Wehen are relegated at the first attempt, the latter through a controversial second leg in the play-offs, whilst Hansa return to the third tier in a moment that Alex was clearly saddened by. Also on the pod, more talk about HSV, confusing managerial decisions, and a reference to Bake Off The Professionals.

Bayer Leverkusen break Bayern's 11-year stranglehold on the title with the first ever invincible season in the league's history, Stuttgart go from third worst to second best in a wonderful campaign for Sebastian Hoeneß, whilst Bayern drop to third after the treble was under risk. Elsewhere, Christian Streich says goodbye, there's praise for Frank Schmidt and Bo Henriksen, whilst Köln and Darmstadt are relegated. Bundesliga at the expense of Jahn Regensburg in a controversial 2-1 defeat. Meanwhile, the 3. Liga line-up for next season is completed by Hannover II as they overcome the Würzburger Kickers in the Regionalliga play-offs. Also on the pod: confusing managerial decisions, great news from the Cartel Office, a missing invite, an unnecessary zoom, and the meanest banner in football.

Following a great last day of the season: Bayer Leverkusen beat Augsburg 2-1 to become the first Bundesliga side to go invincible, Union Berlin leave it late to stay up against Freiburg whilst Bochum slip into the relegation play-off and Köln go straight down to the second tier. Speaking of, St. Pauli win the 2. Bundesliga after beating Wehen on the last day, Wiesbaden however remain in the relegation play-off spot as Hansa Rostock are relegated thanks to a defeat against Paderborn where the fans once again destroyed their own image as well as their stadium this time. Also on the pod, Dortmund says goodbye to Reus, Bayern say goodbye to the chances of hiring a good manager, the German Football YouTube channel makes another mistake as there's another back-to-back promotion in the 3. Liga, more from the Regionalliga, and Alex tries to convince you to watch a whole day of sides you've never heard of fighting for trophies you've also never heard of (trust me, it's great).

On a very celebratory episode of Going Deutsch: Bayer Leverkusen get one step closer to invincibility as they beat Bochum 5-0 in their 50th undefeated game, Köln come from 2-0 down to beat Union 3-2, whilst Mainz leapfrog the side from the captial with a completely non-controversial 3-0 win against Borussia Dortmund. In the Zweite, Holstein Kiel celebrate their first ever promotion to the Bundesliga whilst St. Pauli mark their first return to the top-flight since 2011 (see if you can guess if Alex is happy about that), Braunschweig secure safety with a win against Wehen whilst the midweek game saw Osnabrück get relegated. It's May on the Going Deutsch podcast (and everywhere else to be fair): Union Berlin and Bochum play out a classic as the latter win 4-3 and the former part ways with Nenad Bjelica, Leverkusen win 5-1 away at Frankfurt to tie Benfica for the longest undefeated run in European football history, and every side in the battle for Europe decides they don't want to play in any UEFA competition. In the Zweite: HSV beat St. Pauli as Kiel return to the top of the league, Düsseldorf keep up the heat with a 3-1 win against Nürnberg, and Fürth continue to be the entertainers with a 3-3 draw against Eintracht Braunschweig. Also on the pod: Ulm secure back-to-back promotions, Christian Streich gets a standing ovation, Kevin Müller's eyes, Bayern moving to their 40th option as they continue to get rejected, and why Osnabrück have been kicked out of their own stadium.

In the Zweite: St. Pauli return to the top of the league following a win against Hansa whilst Kiel lose to Kaiserslautern, Dusseldorf draw with Schalke whilst Fürth's 5-3 win against Wehen saw Markus Kauczinski fired. Also on the pod, the Tuchel vs Hoeneß deabte, Steffan Baumgart sells his coach, a commentator finds a man sleeping, and a jazz bed makes its grand return.

Stuttgart beat Dortmund 1-0 in the race for Europe whilst the race against the drop sees Köln score twice in added time to beat a Bochum side who have moved on from Thomas Letsch and Mainz demolish Darmstadt 4-0. In the Zweite: St. Pauli lose to Karlsruher, Hertha score two late on to beat Paderborn, and DFB Pokal finalists Kaiserslautern find themselves in the relegation places following a 2-1 defeat to HSV. Also on the pod: the Semi-Finals of the Pokal, elephants, defining 'The Berlin Way', and how Union plan to live long and prosper in the Bundesliga.

Going Deutsch returns after another international break, this time: Bayer Leverkusen leave it late once again as they beat Hoffenheim 2-1 and see their lead in the Bundesliga balloon to 13 points as Bayern somehow manage to lose a game of football to Edin Terzić's Borussia Dortmund. Stuttgart and Heidenheim play out a 3-3 thriller whilst Ralph Hasenhüttl gets his first win as Wolfsburg manager, 2-0 against Werder Bremen. In the Zweite, Fortuna Düsseldorf move up into third following a 3-1 win against Kaiserslautern whilst HSV draw 1-1 with Fürth, there are wins for St. Pauli and Kiel whilst Eintracht Braunschweig demolish Elversberg 5-0. Also on the pod, the dumbest red card of the season, more needless drama for Schalke, and which former manager has unexpectedly become a member of Eintracht Frankfurt.

It's the 30th episode of the season on Going Deutsch, this time: the Rhine Derby serves up a classic as Mönchengladbach and Köln draw 3-3, Bayern score eight for the second time this season as they demolish Mainz, and Jadon Sancho scores a great solo goal as Füllkrug's Dortmund win 2-1 away at Werder. In the Zweite, HSV lose for the second week in a row, 2-0 against Düsseldorf, St. Pauli and Kiel capitalise at the top, but the pack behind Hamburger all slip up in the race for third. Also on the pod, Jahn Regenburg's lead has evaporated in the Dritte, how Thomas Tuchel motivated Bayern in the Champions League, and the strange middle name of Thomas Isherwood.
For the record, Duisberg's two eight goal plus wins in 1965/66 were a 9-0 win over Tasmania Berlin and an 8-2 win over Karlsruher.

In the Zweite, everyone decides they aren't interested in promotion: Kiel get a light penalty late on to rescue a point against Hertha, St. Pauli somehow lose to Schalke, and HSV outdo them in a defeat against Osnabrück. On the 75th episode of the Going Deutsch podcast: Bayern Munich have the week from hell as they lose 1-0 to Lazio in the Champions League and 3-2 against Bochum, yet Thomas Tuchel keeps his job as he tries to lower himself to the level of his players, Bayer Leverkusen go eight clear at the top as they beat Heidenheim 2-1, and Saturday afternoon's Konferenz is the most aggresive thing of all time, but at least Brendan Aaronson scored for Union Berlin. In the Zweite: Kiel return to form with a 4-0 win against Paderborn, Hannover's 91st minute winner against Fürth comes with 31 minutes left to play, and HSV draw against Hansa in the first game following the dismissal of Tim Walter. On this week's episode of Going Deutsch: the Bundesliga sees Borussia Dortmund actually play a good game of football in the league as they beat Freiburg 3-0, another Mainz game where they failed to take tons of chances sees them lose 3-1 to Stuttgart and Jan Siewert lose his job ... oh, and Bayer Leverkusen demolish Bayern Munich 3-0. In the second tier, HSV lose a second game in three weeks by a score of 4-3, which is enough to see Tim Walter depart, St. Pauli lose for the first time in the league this season against Magdeburg, whilst Holstein Kiel get back to winning ways against Schalke. Also on the pod, the DFB Pokal sees a Leverkusen late winner and a waterlogged pitch, which side scored the casual seven goals in a 3. Liga game, and a manager being described as "the poorest pig."

Hello, it's me Xabi Alonso, the Going Deutsch podcast is really great and this episode was amazing: Alex discusses my Bayer Leverkusen side beating Darmstadt 2-0 thanks to a great performance from Nathan Tella, Köln's surprising 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, and Deniz Undav putting in another great performance as Stuttgart beat Freiburg 3-1. In the Zweite: St. Pauli win in the top-of-the-table clash with Greuther Fürth, there are seven goals in the game between Paderborn and Fortuna Düsseldorf, and 61,000 fans help Schalke get over the line against Paderborn. Also on the pod: how Hertha tried to get fans to stop protesting, a player who could be arrested, and the Bundesliga based scam that may or may not be affecting people in Thailand.

Going Deutsch is back to full strength with the return of the second and third tiers. In the Bundesliga, Bayer Leverkusen score late once again to beat Leipzig whilst Bayern put in a poor performance in a 1-0 loss to Werder Bremen, whilst Darmstadt come from 2-0 down to earn a late draw with Eintracht Frankfurt. In the 2. Bundesliga: Holstein Kiel open 2024 with a shock defeat to Eintracht Braunschweig, St. Pauli return to top of the league after a 2-0 win against Kaiserslautern, and Jonas Urbig helps Fürth extend their undefeated run to eight following a win away at Paderborn. We start in the most northly location in Tour history, as the race starts in the Danish capital of Copenhagen, before traveling back to France for some grueling stages, with visits to Switzerland and Belgium just for fun.
