Do you put your hope in the works of the law or the finished work of Jesus Christ?
Galatians 3:19; 24: 19 "Why then was the law given? It was added for the sake of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise was made would come.; 24 The law, then, was our guardian until Christ, so that we could be justified by faith.

"This is the wisdom that answers the question of suffering — not the answer to why I have to suffer in a particular way, in a particular time, and in a particular circumstance, but wherein does my hope rest in the midst of suffering. The answer to that comes clearly from the wisdom of the book of Job that agrees with the other premises of the wisdom literature: the fear of the Lord, awe and reverence before God, is the beginning of wisdom. And when we are befuddled and confused by things that we cannot understand in this world, we look not for specific answers always to specific questions, but we look to know God in His holiness, in His righteousness, in His justice, and in His mercy. Therein is the wisdom that is found in the book of Job." - Quote by the late R.C. Sproul Sr.

The brothers continue the series of evangelism by discussing how the law is used and needed while sharing the gospel. As we discussed in episode one about the condition of mankind that before one is born again they are dead in their sin (Ephesians 2:5). We need to introduce the law to show us that we are sinners, guilty before a Perfect, Righteous Judge God Almighty. (Romans 3:19-20, 5:20-21, 7:7-12; Galatians 3:24). Praise God for His law, praise God for His Son, Praise God for His Holy Spirit. It is by Gods grace and mercy that He has given us His law to show us we are in need of a Savior, and by providing His Son as a ransom for many...(Isaiah 53:10-12; Mark 10:45). Dr. John MacArthur writes "Grace means nothing to a person who does not know he is sinful and that such sinfulness means he is separated from God and damned. It is therefore pointless to preach grace until the impossible demands of the Law and the reality of guilt before God are preached." Also check out this quote from Charles Spurgeon. Charles Spurgeon writes "I do not believe that any man can preach the gospel who does not preach the law." Don't forget to subscribe to our youtube channel or Itunes and google play. Intro: Read Luke:19:1-10 reading these passages in Luke we find this man Zacchaeus a rich and despised, man seeking to get a glimpse of Jesus. What was so special about this man? He was rich, he had food, shelter, clothing. although he had various resources, Zacchaeus was despised by his fellow Jews. Zacchaeus was a chief tax collector. working for Rome by collecting taxes from his friends, family, and his people. What was so special about Zacchaeus? Zacchaeus was a son of Abraham ( son of faith). Zacchaeus was a lost sheep, waiting to be found. as we continue to examine this story we will look at these points of who Zacchaeus is, what was his response to Jesus, and the mission of Jesus.
Body: 1.) who is Zacchaeus?
2.) What was his response to Jesus and what did the crowd say?
3.) The mission of Jesus? / Scripture Ref. (Luke 5:27-32; Luke 15:1-7; John 10:27-29)
Closing: This story not only gives us a glimpse of a man who will go at great lengths to get a glimpse of Jesus, but also shows us how Jesus will go to the sinner, and call them to repentance. The story of Zacchaeus is a great reminder of how we should go out into the world, go to those who are despised, hopeless and those who are weary and heavy laden, and share the gospel to them no matter who is watching. As we looked into who Zacchaeus is, how he responded to Jesus and the mission of Jesus calling out Zacchaeus, are given example of what evangelism looks like. Lets remember Zacchaeus and lets not be like the crowd.

The title of this series flips our world view of mankind upside down, and jolts us to attention. What is the real condition of mankind? How can people who are dead in trespasses and sins be restored, or brought back to life? Christopher and Cody bring several Scripture references to the discussion and attempt to build the foundation on this study by starting with mankind's spiritual condition and working the way through the law and gospel. You can also check out our website @ www.freedombrothers.net and email us questions that we can attempt to answer during our upcoming episodes. Thanks for tuning in, and God bless.
And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. Colossians 2:13-14
