Sonorama is a Chicago-based Dj collective fronted by Charly Garcia and Eddy Baca and created with the objective of promoting world roots music through our obsessive love of vinyl music culture. More than just djs, we collect, scavenge, and are ever in search of new sonic and rhythmic delights both new, old, or sometimes forgotten, but with the purpose to share our discoveries with the rest of the internet community. Through podcasts and other various media we try and criss-cross geographic borders and genres with ease, and together with our different musical tastes and backgrounds; set out to showcase an eclectic program of rare grooves, musical curios, and Afro influenced dance music, along with any other surprises we dig up along the way.

Hello and welcome to (((SONORAMA))) Podcast! Thank you to everyone for the endless support with the release of our first material on vinyl.
To start this new season of interviews and visits to collectors and friends in the Chicago area, we decided to meet with the crew of Sobremesa Supper club and talk about their project of spontaneous dinners in the neighborhood of Pilsen, while exploring his collection of vinyl ; which is very important because they create this warm atmosphere and transports the diners to the most remote corners of Latin America with all this explosions of flavors and colors in each of their dishes. We talk with Efren Candelaria about his most recent visit to Puerto Rico and where he had the opportunity to bring with him some genuine gems of South America from the music library of Carmen Judith (la abuela). Enjoy the musical selection and keep in tune to discover the vintage latin soungs of Latinoamerica.

Perhaps many have been looking through the pile of LP Records in thrift stores and sometimes we are lucky to find some treasures among kitchen utensils, clothes and other useless things. I consider myself a treasure hunter and that's why I love to share what I found in an afternoon of leisure and adventure on a visit to the thrift store. Enjoy it and share it.

This mix represents a little overview of the Chicano, or “Mexican American Sound” that evolved beginning in the 1940’s through the 1970’s namely in the southwest region and California regions. The offspring of immigrant workers who settled the fertile valleys of southern valleys of California grew up seeking musical outlets that expressed the fresh youthful exuberance of hip sounds of the day often seeking to distance themselves from the traditional regional Mexican genres leading them to embrace the “in” sounds of the day including boogie woogie, r n’ b, rock, soul, funk, and later disco among others.
Welcome to the sounds of Latin America and Spain! In this issue we show a selection of tracks influenced by African American music from soul and R & B. Charly Garcia dusts off his records and makes them spin to get the sound of soul and make snap your fingers and move from side to side. GOZALO !
