Preached at Christ Church Anglican in Midland, Texas, on Sunday, November 27, 2022.

Sermon text: Habakkuk 3:17-19:

Though the fig tree should not blossom,nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer's;he makes me tread on my high places.

To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments.

Hebrews 12:1-3

Comparing and contrasting the NYC Marathon with our Race of Grace teaches us how to endure. In the Race of Grace, we don't just have a crowd of spectators; we have a cloud of witnesses. We don't just throw off every weight; we also throw off the mastery of sin. We don't run against anybody; we run with Jesus. He who endured before us will also run with us every step of the way.

Preached at the Upper East Side Rehabilitation Center in NYC on November 6, 2022.
