Mike ‘Locco’ O’Loughlin has recently been doing the breakfast radio shift in Cairns which lasted for 12 years getting involved with management and all aspects of the industry. After working in Melbourne, Bendigo and Geelong radio and T.V. in the 80’s for many years, he then moved all around the country with radio. (Back in Victoria he’s catching up with family and friends and loving it, especially the Goulburn Valley)

As well as Radio, other ventures included being a Trainer with T.A.F.E., selling cars and real estate but Locco says they didn’t last long as his first love is radio.

He loves bicycle touring, having ridden through parts of the U.S.A. and Cairns to Karumba {across the cape} and to Mt.Isa, he says it’s the only way he can lose weight and says he needs to ride to the moon and back to get rid of his current excess baggage. In the 80’s/90’s he was involved in endurance horse riding and rode in one the toughest horse riding events called the “Tom Quilty 160 K endurance ride” getting completion buckles five times, he says that was then and doesn’t ride horses much now, but at the farm in Thornton he has a new foal called “Zaheer” an Arab cross quarter horse, he may ride again?
