This is the Episode that Greg has been waiting for. Well, we have have been building up to Episode 45 and trying to determine what guest we would approach. Of course it was an easy choice with 2x World Speedway Champion, Hollywood Actor and a great mentor/hero to Greg: Bruce Penhall! As a kid, Greg wanted the number 45 which came from his hero Bruce Penhall and has stuck with him throughout his career to date. In the world of speedway, most people know who the number 45 belongs to but what more lies behind it?? This podcast brought out some interesting yet truthful stories that many don't know and that includes Greg. Much success with racing, a great Hollywood career, and family man who had a hard time getting away from racing. Following the tragic accident with Bruce's youngest son Connor, life changed quickly for the Penhall family and you too should hear how. We could not make the trip to California to get this podcast with Bruce so it was done over a weblink which went pretty good most of the way but we ended with a severly disrupted signal at the later stage of the Podcast. We considered re-recording the podcast but the content that we got from Bruce relating to the family and accident involving his son Connor was so touching that we could not do that again and have it spelled out so clearly. Please, please accept our apologies with the late disruptions but do not be discouraged from listening to this touching story. Bruce Penhall is a true legend... Thanks for listening. Reel 45

This week, Greg was in Horsens, Denmark for the Danish Speedway GP and Stefan was on regular duties back in Norrtälje. On route to Horsens Greg made time to stop into Tjæreborg, Denmark and visit his longtime friend and big hero/mentor Erik Gundersen along with his wife Helle at their home. From the early days of Greg’s European career riding in the same team with Erik to having the opportunity to live in the same house with Erik and Helle in his second season and less than a year after Erik’s career ending neck injury, it’s quite a story. This week’s episode 28 is with Maciej Janowski and we are calling it: “Making Magic”! Everyone knows my log time relationship with Magic and this is truly one of the most awaited episodes that I’ve wanted. He is such an amazing kid with a huge heart and massive love for the game. I’ve had the pleasure of helping him a little on his run up to the current day but it has to be said that Magic has made it on his own. My mechanic Rafal Haj picked up Magic from an early age of about 12 years old and introduced him to me when he was 13. Magic has always had the look in his eye and that’s what had me sold on the kid from day one. He could not even speak english when we first met but he has grown to be a great human being and a massive star in his home country of Poland. I am proud to say that I know Maciej Janowski and will stand behind him always. Even though we compete against each other, we have a huge mutual respect for one another. We had a cool chat with Sebastian Palmese who is the current USA 250cc National Champion and one with a huge future in the sport. Sebastian is one of the most humble and caring people that anyone could meet. He was born to get sideways! His father Jason was a BMX National Champion from California so Sebastian has the winning ambition in his blood. He already has 2x 150 National Championships, 2x 250 National Championships but is yet to win the hugely popular Jr Speedway Gumball Rally that takes place at Industry Racing this Sunday March 11th. Welcome to this weeks Episode 20- Heat 20! Opening Doors with Luke Becker Listen to this inspirational story of an only kid who truly wants to make the great and become a World Speedway Champion. Luke Becker grew up as any other young dirt loving kid who just wanted to go fast. His no holds barred, just give me the chance attitude is incredible. A broken Tib and Fib in round 2 of the 2017 US Nationals is the only thing that stopped this kid from getting the green light to race in the UK in 2018. Now he will do it his own way with the help of fellow American Greg Hancock. Check it out! Listen in to the Reel45 Podcast on Podbean, Itunes and Acast. Welcome to this weeks Episode 19- “California’s Not Going Anywhere”! This Episode is a cool story about the American riders who have been to Europe for a year or more as well as those who have not yet made the hop across the water to chase their dreams and why. Many people continuously ask me why there are not more Americans in Europe and what’s going on with American Speedway. Here you will get the story straight from the sources: Greg - Not Really the Past :()Ricky - The PresentMax and Dillon Ruml - The Future Whether its life, family, friends or just the comforts of home what is holding them back? It’s interesting, amusing and slightly emotional when you hear the story of Max Ruml taking on not only his own responsibilities of life and racing but also the father figure role to step up and help to support his own brother starting at age 19. This kid holds a lot inside yet is the most organized and kind hearted kid you could meet. Enjoy the episode! We really want to thank Ricky, Max and Dillon for taking the time to give us their life stories to date and to share their thoughts about racing and chasing the dream.. These are some amazing individuals and we wish them the best of luck in all they do. Listen in to the Reel45 Podcast on Podbean, Itunes and Acast. Welcome to Reel45 and Episode 15 with Gabriel Waliszko from the Polish TV network NC+ and Canal+ Sport. We had an in depth chat with Gabriel about his life growing up in Krosno, Poland watching Speedway, playing sports and later studying journalism. This all led him to eventually become a TV commentator and personality well known throughout Poland and to the worldwide speedway viewers. Greg has developed a friendship with Gabriel over the years and we felt that people needed to know what actually goes on behind the camera. It’s not just about showing up to an event on the day, there is huge amount of time and work that goes into it. Gabriel has a huge interest in Speedway but he must also have interest in a vast majority of other sports as well. He needs to be knowledgeable in so many areas to keep up on the daily activities, results, news and of course gossip. :() He has so many great stories and memories including some of the biggest names in Polish sport like Tomasz Gollob but that’s not all. Listen to this great episode and get an insight into Polish Speedway, Sport and life in general. There might be a few delays and breaks in this edit because we recorded with Gabriel sitting in Poland, Stefan in Sweden and Greg in California but we had a lot of fun mixing all the languages. We must “Thank” Gabriel for his time and great support of the Reel45 Podcast. Listen in on Podbean, Itunes and Acast. Welcome to Episode 14 "The Real Sissy"! A cool family story that outlines the life of Carrie "Sis" Hancock and what it was like to be the youngest of the siblings and also the only sister to the Hancock Boys. She grew up like any young girl but you wouldnt find just Barbie Dolls and dresses in her closet. Sissy was with her brothers every step of the way riding dirt bikes, bicycles, skateboards, washing bikes and leathers. She was also probably helping them to do their homework from time to time. She had the caring, helpful, mother instinct from day 1 yet one of the hardest working women you can find. Growing up around the speedway tracks installed a large network into Sissy's world which led her to work with and run a business for American Speedway World Champion and legend "Bruce Penhall", business with another Speedway legend "Mark Cherry and curently plays a large role in a business called Baja Tours owned by former Honda HRC man and industry legend "Chris Haines". She is no slouch and still one of, if not the biggest fan of brothers Greg and Dave. You have to listen to her story of growing up with her brothers, watching Greg leave his homeland to pursue an international motorcycle racing career, watching older brother Dave make a move to Illinois and become the lone sibling taking on life in California. From a very young age, all he wanted to do was ride his motorcycle. His family has a history of motorcycle enthusiasts including his uncle, the legendary Torleif Hansen who was the top riders in the Motocross Grand Prix World Championships during the 1970s. Torleif was also 2nd in the 250 World Championship in 1978 as a factory Kawasaki rider. Per as a rising star in the motocross world later changed his direction and moved his path to Speedway Racing where he quickly began to excel. He made the jump to the international scene in the mid 80’s and by 1990 was already World Champion, topping his great Uncle Torleif Hansen in the family. :() An unfortunate crash in Poland in 1994 left Per with a spinal injury that ended his career and has him committed to a wheelchair today. As hard as this has been for Per, he has managed to transform his life being a great father, inspiring riders, making a name for himself as a Speedway commentator for the Swedish TV channel C’More as well as holding down a regular job. Greg caught up with Per at his bedside from his home in Upplands Väsby, Sweden to have a chat about his career and talk about life. Not only is Per a friend to Greg but played a pivotal role in his move to Swedish Speedway with Gettingarna back in 1992. You have to hear this inspiring story. Welcome to Reel 45 Podcast and Episode 5 with Peter Karlsson. This is an epic insight behind the glasses of PK. Stefan and I begin the episode with a 40th Birthday surprise for Stefan himself. We took a bus to Stockholm, enjoyed a really manly spa day :)) followed by a cool chat about the day and the approach to my interview with PK. Stefan was away in the UK so I made the interview with PK alone but I had a surprise guest who joined us unexpectedly and that was his brother Mikael Max. I had the chance to dig a little into their family history and what kind of life they led on their way to becoming International Speedway Riders and Legends. Wow, we go way back and have develped a respectful firendship over the years plus we've shared so many cool experiences throughout the world of speedway. This turned out to be a long interview but you wont regret taking the time to hear their story and we only scratched the surface. It's so cool!!! :() Thanks PK and Max.
