Players' Weekend is here, which means it's time for worthy causes, intriguing accessories, funny nicknames and... unique jerseys. GoodHacks is here to break it all down for you. First off, Max and Tim dish on how they feel about those jerseys (2:42), and their suggestions to make this weekend better (17:00); and of course, the nicknames are the highlight of the weekend, so the guys highlight some of their favorites (24:28). But there's also some baseball to get to, so the guys preview this weekend's heavyweight battle between the Yankees and the Dodgers (33:39) and try to figure out how the A's have stayed hot enough to claim an AL Wild Card spot (47:02). Can a recent top prospect call-up help maintain this success (48:38)? And can Mike Trout continue his run of excellence to become one of the very greatest players ever (56:38)?
And hey, one final message: this is going to be our last podcast in this format for a while as Max and Tim officially leave Northwestern and move on to bigger (they hope) things. Now that the Trade Deadline winds have (mostly) died down, GoodHacks is back to its regularly scheduled programming. This week, the guys check in on some of the most notable deadline acquisitions, discuss how the Marlins have remade their franchise as they build towards the future, and debate whether the Blue Jays' young core might be good enough to usurp the Yankees in the AL East in the near future. What seemed like a smooth Trade Deadline season swiftly cranked up into a full-blown tempest thanks to some serious late swaps, and GoodHacks is here to break it all down. The NHL and NBA seasons are officially over, which means it's baseball's time to shine. If you've been around GoodHacks all season, you'll remember one of the guys you'll hear about on the Call-up Corner (3:46) this week, and Max outlines why the Marlins might actually have won the Christian Yelich trade after one prospect's recent debut (13:04). Shohei Ohtani's first career cycle nets him the "Buenhombre of the Week" award (22:02), but that wasn't even the wildest thing about Thursday's Rays-Angels game at the Trop (35:06). Finally, the guys cap off the week by cracking open the discussion about the "Opener" - why does it exist? is it effective? and is it the future of baseball (45:45)?

This week, Max and Tim were hit with an idea just like a baseball gets hit by Cody Bellinger: that is to say, hard. On the heels of a record-setting month of MLB home runs, GoodHacks presents the Home Run Episode, where the guys discuss whether all these home runs are in fact good for the game (1:17), whether the strategy of building your team around the long ball is actually wide (7:46), and whether a team like the Twins is really poised for success (12:23). It is often said that change is the only thing that is constant, but this week on GoodHacks, Max and Tim will show you how, in baseball, while some things change, others stay the same. There's one player whose position as the game's greatest current player is unchanged as he collects yet another career milestone (1:04), and another player who has will soon end his career as one of the greatest pure hitters we've ever seen (14:24). This week's BuenHombre of the Week is someone who's changed uniforms a lot, but has usually delivered consistent results (24:45); and on the Call-up Corner are a few guys who hope their roles as new franchise cornerstones won't change anytime soon (38:58).
