Today, Ryan’s an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist, a mental health professional focusing on anxiety and sobriety. He’s also a published author with a new book out now titled Harder to Breathe: A Memoir of Making Maroon 5, Losing It All, and Finding Recovery. Ryan works at The Missing Peace Center for Anxiety in Agoura Hills, CA, where he’s spreading the message that recovery is possible. Amy Wright connects with O.N.E The Duo, an emerging mother/daughter duo formed by Tekitha and Prana Supreme — and their story is rooted in Hip-Hop royalty. Tekitha is the female lead on the Wu-Tang Clan albums and Prana is the daughter of RZA, the founder and de facto leader of Wu-Tang Clan.

Amy Wright sits down with Jed Hilly, Executive Director of the Americana Music Association, which, since 1999, has helped American roots music assume an elevated place in the world. Hilly’s career has included work for Orbison Records (as in Roy Orbison), Sony Music Entertainment, and various other notable organizations.

Following the 9/11 disaster in 2001, Jed relocated his family from New York to Nashville, Tennessee, and in the spring of 2007, he accepted the position as Executive Director of the Americana Music Association where he continues today. Amy Wright chats with brothers Michael and Kevin Bacon, aka The Bacon Brothers, all about their brand-new five-song EP, Erato.

As multi-faceted artists with a ton of creativity in their DNA, Michael and Kevin have been actively creating music together, well, since they were just kids. They call the genre-bending sound they make “Forosoco” - a blend of folk, rock, soul, and country influences. And that makes sense, considering it's the continuation of sounds heard long ago in Philadelphia, where the two siblings were raised on a soundtrack of 1970s singer/songwriters, Philly soul singers, and classic rock bands.

"We're a songwriting band, and the songs lead the way," Kevin explains. "We're not beholden to a specific sound. We just write the songs and let them point us in the right direction. That's how we've done it since the very beginning."

Today we’re excited to welcome California native and now Nashville-based singer-songwriter, the always delightful Nicki Bluhm. “My perspective on life and love has made a shift, for the better,” shares Bluhm, the acclaimed artist behind Avondale Drive, her newest studio album out now on Compass Records.

Bluhm pointed out in a recent Q&A that one silver lining of the pandemic was that all musicians were grounded at home and had time on their hands and were jonesing to be creative. With no touring happening, there were so many artists who decided to set up little home recording rooms. Because we were all physically isolated, she points out, sharing tracks and flying them to musician friends was a way to commune and collaborate, giving each musician the freedom to interpret, express and add to the songs in their own unique way. We're excited to share our recent conversation with Welsh musician, songwriter, and record producer Karl Wallinger, best known for his band, World Party. We caught up with Karl from the control room of his new studio in Hastings in Southern England, where he's overlooking the sea – the English Channel, to be exact. In the 80s and 90s, Karl released a series of chart-topping albums, his first being the critically lauded Private Revolution. It featured the MTV darling doing nearly everything: singing, writing, producing, and playing most instruments. He escaped the sophomore slump with the release of the majestic Goodbye Jumbo. Rolling Stone said that "Goodbye Jumbo displays an ambition as broad as the emotional range of its music." More genius records followed until 2000, when all came to a crashing halt as Karl fell victim to a brain aneurysm. It took some time, but he picked up the pieces and began writing and recording again. This past year found Karl releasing vinyl reissues of his all the albums in his catalog. Rodney Crowell stopped by to chat about his upcoming album, Triage, which is set to release just over a month from now. About two years ago, Crowell began scribbling the first few lines that would become the songs for Triage, with monotheism, climate change, and cultural divide foremost on his mind. His primary goal with the songs was to adequately frame the healing power of Universal Love. He says that he’s learned from experience that writing and recording songs with the desire to make a difference is a tricky business. Courtney Marie Andrews spent over nine months of 2017 on the road, with multiple trips across the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. That's nothing new for Andrews, though. She's been touring relentlessly since leaving her Arizona hometown at 16. It's a life that inspired much of her 2016 breakthrough album, Honest Life. While that album's themes spoke to the isolation and rootlessness inherent in a life on the road, most of its songs were actually written during an intentional, extended break. The success that followed its release, however, didn't afford her the same break to write the material for her new album. Although May Your Kindness Remain was predominately written on the road -- in the van, in hotels, and in the homes of family and friends -- it's not a road record like its predecessor.
