Today Deborah Sendek from The Center For Effective Discipline will join me to discuss the difference between child abuse and chastisement. Deborah, will also share alternative ways for parents to discipline their children at home that is more effective, and less harmful.
The Center for Effective Discipline is a non-profit organization, which provides educational information to the public on the effects of corporal punishment of children, and alternatives to its use. It is currently the headquarters for, and coordinates both National Coalition to Abolish Corporal Punishment in Schools (NCACPS), and End Physical Punishment of Children (EPOCH-USA).
Pastor Valeria Weeks-Mcmillon, founder and head of God’s House Ministries, Inc., and the mother of three, two who are Major League Baseball players: Rickie Weeks, second baseman for the Milwaukee Brewers, Jemile Weeks, newly traded to Baltimore Orioles, and daughter Kaisha Weeks, who works in PR & Communications, is gearing up for her public speaking tour. Weeks-Mcmillon is booking visits for this summer, within certain cities and states to promote her initiative: “How To Recognize The Gifts in Your Children.”
Pastor Valeria Weeks-Mcmillon's goal is to connect with pastors in an effort to influence a redefined mindset in our parents and youth of faith, through:
1) Encouraging children and families of faith, through her testimony
2) Bring hope to the youth
3) Breakdown to parents, how to balance & support their child’s dream, yet, still keeping a strong foundation in God.
4) Showing parents how to invest in their child’s hopes and dreams.
