Jesus said, "Follow me and I will make you to become fishers of men." This is a promise of Jesus of what he will do. We are to focus on following Jesus and trust him to do the work of making us to be fishers of men.
Isaiah 52 and 53 are two chapters of seeming contradiction that move from victory to the LORD's servant to being killed and buried. Isaiah 53 ends with what can only be answered in the resurrection. It does not take creative back reading to see that Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of Isaiah 53. Jesus is the fulfillment of all of our hopes. He has borne our griefs that we might be reconciled to God
It is vital that we look to Christ and Isaiah urges us to "Behold his [the LORD's] servant."
Sometimes we have to look back to look forward. In this sermon, we go back 700 years before the coming of Jesus to see Isaiah's joy filled anticipation of the coming of Jesus. Let you hearts join in praise towards God as we look back to Jesus' first coming and wait for His second coming.
If you find that you praise and thanksgiving to God is weak, let me urge you to look again to the unbelievable kindness of God shown through Jesus Christ.
Honor and thanksgiving to God keep our lives "right" in this world. If we turn from God our lives will lose center and be adrift with no anchor.
From Hebrews 3:1-15 we learn about the deceitfulness of sin and God's grace through the body to keep us united to Him.
This is the continuation of the sermon from last week. We are looking at Jesus as our "true friend" and the "friendship"/ love that is commanded among the saints.
Prayer is a great priviledge. We should use that priviledge for things that we know are going to last, kingdom matters. We should guard against being preoccupied with matters that we know are not going to last, earthly matters.
The branches connected to the vine under the watchful care of the vinedresser. This beautiful picture aptly describes the believer's llife.
As a note, I will often confuse names, but on this sermon there is a long stretch where I am speaking of the vine, Jesus, when I should be speaking of the branch, the believer. Please be aware of this and is something seems somewhat out of life keep listening. Sorry for the mistake.
Peace is hard to find. Peace is often sought in the abundance the good and the privation of the bad. The peace that we provide for ourselves will never last. But peace in Jesus Christ is real and lasting peace.
The greatest miracle that the follower of Christ will ever see is the lost sinner being born again as a child of God.
A necessary part of understanding the love of God is understanding the wrath of God. "God so loved the world that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life." In Christ, no one will perish.
John states that there is a type of belief that does not lead to salvation. This fact drives us to Jesus is able and willing to save.
Making disciples...as Christians we are to make disciples. Our discipliemaking does not flow out of an effort of the flesh, but as a result of having spent time with Jesus and his power overflowing from us.
Jesus is the revelation of the Father. The scriptures are clear that if we see Jesus we have seen God the Father.
The description of "fat people" is probably not what you think. Listen to see what the real danger of being "fat" is.
The elder is to be a example of living for Christ in every area of his life. Therefore, these qualifications for elders not only serve in selecting elders, but also serve as a model for all.
The Elder and all believers must be servants of God as is demonstrated by their basic devotion to Christ.
As followers of the LORD Jesus Christ, our walk with God should manifest itself in the virtues of strength and courage.
Change is certain this is the first of two or three sermons on how to face change in a way that will glorify God.
Is the worship of false gods still an issue in 21st century America? Listen, do you hear the cry of your idol?
The flames of your faith if left unattended will fade. Living a Christian requires frequent attention.
There is a strengthening that flows out of our walk with God. Let's look back at our lives and consider how we can grow in spiritual strength.
We are often uncomfortable with things that we do not understand and with some things that we do. God is a mixture of things that we understand and things that we do not understand. Many have sought to reinvent God into a God that is more like the one we would like, but the Bible does not allow for this.
There are times when we should listen to understand our thoughts and other times when we should speak to ourselves. Deuteronomy 1 teaches us that there is a time to listen and a time to talk.
Does a person have to knowingly trust in Jesus Christ to be saved? Listen and find out what the Bible says.
In this sermon, I seek to show what food sacrificed to idols has to do with the living of a Christian life.
This is the final sermon in our series in preparation for the adoption of our covenant.
In this fifth sermon in our series on the covenant, the idea of covenanting with one another is explored. We should come away from this sermon with a awe for God's grace and for God's calling of His church together in covenant with one another.
This is the fourth sermon in our series in preparation for the adoption of our covenant.
This is the second in a series of sermon preached on the occasion of Faith Baptist's preparation to adopt a new church covenant.
