In this episode I debate whether or not we should celebrate if Chimamanda Adichie or Nnedi Okoroafor won a Nobel prize (especially if their body of work or personal brand do not reflect indigenous ideologies).

This is based on a facebook post from a friend which said we should not, because "they do not stand for anything indigenous" therefore the award will be useless to ndi Igbo. And "tomorrow they would use the fame of the award to force negative Western ideologies on our children."

Let's be clear... The intention behind coming to Africa had NOTHING to do with the intellectual understanding of the Black person. Otherwise, why didn't they translate Scientific resources to our languages?

Before anyone else misinterprets my intentions. I am not saying the Bible is a lie. As I told someone on Instagram, I am not saying they translated the Bible for the sake of colonization. Multiple groups of Europeans came to Africa to exercise their agendas. Those representing the political rulers overruled all other forms of authority. Missionaries came, but they were not always the same people as the colonial rulers. However, some Africans seem to believe they are all the same people. I am challenging them. I am also acknowledging that there is a reason some forms of knowledge transfer was encouraged while others were not.

I hope to talk more about what using African language, symbology & stories in the sciences means to me in future videos.

Hey guys. Excuse that I am reading, I express myself more efficiently in writing.

I am a proponent of us fully expressing ourselves. But not all of us were meant to be artists and athletes. And its not impossible to create a community among oursleves that rewards ourselves for creating for ourselves. Let's try!

“Pooja went to India to get arranged married…is that how you say it?” Chiamaka heard her confused American co-worker of European decent say. The Nigerian software developer stirred the jollof rice that she brought for lunch around her glass bowl in the break room. Her mind was not fully in the conversation. The banter of her female co-workers was always background noise to her. She often could not relate to what they were saying, but she endured it, because sometimes it was just more comfortable to be around other human beings rather than computers. “Aren’t there human rights violation laws about that sort of thing now?” asked another co-worker of Hispanic heritage. “I mean it is a women’s rights issue isn’t it?” “She’s not in any danger,” Chiamaka finally spoke up.
