This week we begin a new series entitled, Advent With God. Advent comes from
the Latin word, adventus, which means “coming.” During this season, Christians remember Christ’s first coming to earth 2,000 years ago. Christians anticipate Christ’s second coming when he returns to set the world right, and finish the work he began. And Christians expect Christ’s coming in the present through the work of the Holy Spirit. We begin the season of Advent by immersing ourselves in the story of Mary’s with-God life, as we discover how our ultimate identity and purpose is found in Christ.

What do our spiritual lives and our financial lives have to do with one another? According to Jesus, quite a lot. In fact he says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” This week as we continue our series, Kairos Moment, we’ll discover why this is the right time to invest in God’s kingdom-building work. As we “store up treasures in heaven,” we’ll find spiritual freedom from the worries of life and the deception of wealth.

What do you think is keeping you from growing spiritually? Some of our best writers on the Christian spiritual life suggest that areas of inner unfreedom, keep us from experiencing deeper contentment, joy and confidence in our everyday lives with God. This week, as we continue our series, Kairos Moment, we are believing that this is the right time for us to experience spiritual healing from the hurts and wounds and resentment that rob us from the life God desires for us. Perhaps this Sunday is a day for you to experience breakthrough in your spiritual journey like never before.

The Least of these. Its easy to get overwhelmed by the suffering in the world.

This week at Crossway, we invite you to hear Jesus’ grand invitation—perhaps like you’ve never heard it before—to be his disciple. Discover why this is life's greatest opportunity.

If you could ask God for anything, what would you ask him for?  Israel’s third king,
Solomon, asked God for wisdom. God was pleased by Solomon’s request, and granted him the most wisdom of anyone in the land.  Yet as Solomon’s reign unfolded, his wisdom waned.  His rule—which started in glory—ended in disgrace.  This week at Crossway, we invite you to discover how Solomon serves as a cautionary warning against the destructive power of self-deception.

Israel’s first king, Saul, started his reign with strength and valor. But his life ended
in disgrace and tragedy. What went wrong? Rather than patiently wait on God, Saul took matters into his own hands. If we’re not careful, we can fall into the same trap ourselves. This week, Pastor Dave Ripper will challenge us to overcome our besetting impatience by cultivating deeper trust in God.

Joshua chapters 2-6 mark a significant moment in Israelite history. They cross the

Some of the heroes along the way are the ones the readers would expect and others are some of the least likely characters in all of the Bible. Rahab, through her brief in the God of the Isrealites, stands as a pillar of faith, not just in her time, but through Hebrews 11 for all time. The kingdom of God is aggressively allergic to pride, which grows wild in our lives.  Humility needs to be cultivated and that takes intentional practice. This week we’ll hear from Pastor Doug Melder, a member of our community, about how we can continue to rediscover humility as a virtue.

Humility is one of the most defining characteristics of the Christian life. Yet it is also one of the most elusive virtues to understand. Join us this week as Pastor Dave Ripper explores what humility is, why it matters, and how we can cultivate the beautiful freedom of humility in our own lives.

Christianity is founded on the virtue of humility.  The Scriptures tell us Jesus "humbled himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross” (Philippians 2:8).  Yet when we think of Christians today, is humility a word that describes Christ-followers well?  Perhaps the absence of humility in the church today is a result of its misunderstanding.  Join us at Crossway as we rediscover what humility is, how to cultivate it, and why it is essential for the future of our faith.

Campus Pastor: Jake Scott Psalm 19:7-8

In Psalm 19:7-8 David lists a series of attributes of scripture and promises we can claim from scripture, and yet sometimes these promises feel unfulfilled. Perhaps because when we approach scripture we don't slow down the pace of our lives long enough to allow scripture to deeply transform us from the inside out. We have to take an inward journey with scripture before we can take the outward journey of it actually changing our lives.

Matthew 28: 16-20 (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/...)
God calls all of us to go—to go with Him, to go and make disciples, to go and love the world. But for many of us, something often gets in the way of following God's calling to go. What no stands in the way of God’s go?

As Paul is closing out his letter to the church at Ephesus he has cast a vision for how their ideal life, ideal relationships and ideal journey with God. How do we handle it when life is less than ideal? Ephesians, as a book, is about walking worthy. Sometimes the best way to walk worthy is to stand firm, even when doing so feels impossible.

Ephesians 3:14-21 (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/...)
In Ephesians 3:14-21 Paul is closing the first half of his letter to the church at Ephesus by casting a vision for what their life could and should look like when they are defined by and open-handed with Jesus. Paul asks the church at Ephesus and us today to allow Jesus "make himself at home" in our heart and to hold nothing back from him. You can't be filled to the measure of Jesus until you remove what you were filled with previously.

Paul in Ephesians 1:15-23 is giving the church at Ephesus a vision for what is available to them. He invites them to know the hope and power in Jesus and challenges them to live with those things on a day by day basis. He says believing that these are available and living with them in mind will help them in Ephesus and us today have a deeper experience of God.

“Perfect love casts out fear.” -1 John 4:18

In such alarming times as these, there may have never been a more urgent need for Christians (in our age) to become people pervaded with agape love.

To be people who love God with all we are, and to love our neighbors as ourselves.
This week as we gather as the scattered church, we will look at practical, actionable steps each of us can take to cultivate the kind of love that drives out fear—from our souls, and from those around us.

This is not about trying to love, but about training ourselves to be people who easily and routinely subvert fear with love.
