After 58-year-old Calvin Berry is found dead in the canal behind his home, his time of death and cause of death become a points of contention. Was the medical examiner correct when he ruled his death an accidental drowning or does medical evidence from his defibrillator and his autopsy disprove this ruling? 58-year-old Calvin Berry was reported missing from his Florida home just after midnight on March 11, 2021. Soon after his disappearance, his children received text messages from an unknown person claiming to have their father and demanding they pay a ransom to ensure his safe return. Two days later, Calvin’s body was found floating in the canal behind his house. The medical examiner ruled Calvin’s death an accidental drowning but other experts disagree. Calvin's twin sister wants answers.

The murders of18-year-old Haile Kifer andher 17-year-old cousin Nicholas Brady occurred on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2012, when the two teenagers broke into the home of 64-year-old Byron David Smith in Little Falls, Minnesota. Once inside the home, Smith shot the teens separately, 10 minutes apart, as they each walked down the stairs to the basement. The case sparked debate over the "Castle Doctrine", which allows homeowners to defend their homes with lethal force. Join The Investigators as they examine whether or not the Castle Doctrine was a viable defense for Byron Smith and how his career as a Security Engineer for the State Department might help explain his mental state leading up to this tragic and fateful day.

On Friday, November 17, 1978, four young employees at the Burger Chef in Speedway, IN went missing after close. Local police assumed they were screwing around and refused to take a report. Two days later, they were found murdered in a wooded area over twenty miles away. Forty-five years later, this case is still unsolved. But the detective who worked this case longer than anyone, is certain he knows who's responsible.
Our focus on the disappearance of Crystal Rogers turns to former Bardstown officer Nick Houck. Nick is the brother of Crystal's boyfriend Brooks Houck who is the primary suspect in her case. Nick has now become a suspect as well, which offers a unique challenge for investigators. And to aggravate matters, The Houck Brothers also become suspects in another unsolved murder in the area. Bardstown, KY may never be the same.

Crystal Rogers, a 35-year-old mother of five, went missing on Fourth of July weekend in 2015 from Bardstown, Kentucky. Her boyfriend and the father of her youngest child, Brooks Houck was the last known person to see her alive. Within months he was named the prime suspect in her case. Nearly a decade into her investigation, and three years after the FBI took the lead in her case, arrests have been made for conspiracy to commit murder and murder. But this story…is far from over. Florence Lowe "Pancho" Barnes (July 22, 1901 – March 30, 1975) was a pioneer aviator and a founder of the first movie stunt pilots' union. In 1930, she broke Amelia Earhart's air speed record. Barnes raced in the Women's Air Derby, was a member of the Ninety-Nines and certainly helped paved the path for female aviators in the U.S. Military. In short, Pancho Barnes was a badass.

Located 12km east of Suffolk in the North Sea, the Principality of Sealand is a micronation that claims to be the world’s smallest country. To look at, it is nothing special: a blasted-looking platform with a smattering of container-like buildings on top. But the story of how it came to be is nothing short of extraordinary.
David Curtiss "Steve" Stephenson (August 21, 1891 – June 28, 1966) was an American convicted rapist and murderer who in 1923 was appointed Grand Dragon of the branch of the Ku Klux Klan in Indiana and head of Klan recruiting for seven other states. Later that year, he led those groups to independence from the national KKK organization. Amassing wealth and political power in Indiana politics, he was one of the most prominent national Klan leaders. "He was viewed as responsible for reviving the Klan and widening its base, and considered the most powerful man in Indiana". He had close relationships with numerous Indiana politicians, especially Governor Edward L. Jackson. A real piece of sh*t. Here's his story.
Albert W. Hicks (c. 1820 – July 13, 1860) was convicted as a triple murderer, and one of the last people executed for piracy in the United States. Historians place him as the first New York City legendary gangster figure, a bridge between the piracy of old and rise of a new "gangster nation" and we think he should be re-classified as a serial killer.

Operation Grid Iron was a covert investigation that targeted Division I football players and prospective players at the U.S. Airfare Academy between 2008-2012. The Air Force's Office of Special Investigations used cadets as confidential sources, who were recruited via questionable means, to gather intelligence for this operation. One of those cadets was Adam Derito. Adam's lifelong dream was to be a fighter pilot. He thought he was doing the right thing by doing what was asked of him from his OSI handlers. But he'd eventually find out that his participation in this operation would prevent him from not only achieving that dream, but prevent him from graduating the academy all together.
Todd sits down to have a conversation with retired Aventura PD officer David Yuzuk about his documentary and book The Giant Killer. It tells the incredible story of Richard Flaherty. David met Richard, who was heels in Aventura, FL by showing him kindness which led to a friendship. Shortly before Richard was killed in a hit-and-run, he shared his story with David. An unbelievable story that ended up being true. Richard, standing only 4'9" became the shortest person to serve in the US military. Not only that, he served during the Vietnam War and became a Captain in the Green Berets who was awarded two Purple Hearts, two bronze stars and a silver star. He also participated in a huge ATF undercover operation that caught two Green Beret Sergeants stealing and trading weapons and explosives for cocaine. This is just the tip of the iceberg, so get ready because...HERE WE GO!

In 2007, the DEA in conjunction with Chinese Authorities, the World Anti-Doping Agency and the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency partnered in an 18 month investigation that resulted in the indictment of 124 people across our country and one of them is here to speak about his involvement, how it impacted his life and where he is now. Operation Raw Deal was the largest Performance Enhancing Drug Network case in history and Josh had no idea he was part of it. But that didn't matter.

Rodney Cummings spent his childhood in and out of abusive orphanages and foster homes with intermittent stays with his financially struggling father and drug-addicted mother. Upon barely graduating high school, he found himself homeless on the streets of Anderson, IN. With no support system and no money, he helped commit a residential burglary which resulted in his arrest and conviction, just one month after his 18th birthday.
Today, after completing a successful career as a police officer, he is the elected Prosecuting Attorney of Madison, County, IN. The very county in which he was convicted of Burglary. Better yet, he not only won this elected position on his first campaign, he managed to beat the very prosecutor that tried and convicted him. This one's a little different. Kevin Grogan is a former homicide detective with the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department. I had a lot of respect for him before this episode but even more-so after this episode. Sure, he shared some incredible stories from his years on violent crime task forces, multi-jurisdictional drug task forces and as a homicide detective, but that's fun. What isn't fun is sharing a story about a mistake you made that ended an otherwise storied career. But he did. And not only that, he shared the story of his two-year battle afterward against unfounded criminal allegations that resulted in a grand jury indictment on felony charges for which he was ultimately acquitted. There's a lot to learn from this one.
Because it's Election Week I wanted to give you some insight to the law enforcement agency that is most intimately involved with that political process, the U.S, Secret Service. Fortunately, I have a good friend that was a legend within that agency. Danny DiRienzo recently retired after 22 years of service and was one of the better criminal investigators I've ever had the privilege to work with. So, who better to educate you on what the Secret Service does and what it's like to be an agent there.
There is a virtually unknown story within law enforcement's history that existed during the "War On Terror". It's the story of the DEA's F.A.S.T. Team. A tactical team that was created to work in concert with US Special Operations Teams and Special Forces to locate, take over and dismantle drug labs used to fund the Taliban. Within that story exists an even lesser-known story of one of the F.A.S.T. Team's members, Joe Piersante. This is Joe's story.

The Texarkana Moonlight Murders were a series of unsolved murders and other violent crimes committed in and around Texarkana in the spring of 1946 by an unidentified serial killer known as the "Phantom Killer" or "Phantom Slayer". The killer is credited with attacking eight people within ten weeks, five of whom were killed. This is the story.

Girly Chew Hossencofft (August 27, 1963 – September 9, 1999) was a Malaysian-born woman who disappeared on September 9, 1999, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The investigation into the murder of Girly Chew revealed a conspiracy theory involving reptilian queens, UFOs and reports of cannibalism. Girly Chew's husband Diazien Hossencofft and his girlfriend Linda Henning were convicted of her murder. Girly's body has never been found.
A Police K9 handler and his dog are a team. They are partners in the most literal sense. And when a handler loses his K9 partner, in the line of duty, it's every bit as difficult as losing a human partner. That's what happened on the night of August 24, 2014 when Officer Ryan Stark and his K9 Kye found themselves in a fight for their lives with a man who decided he wasn't going to be taken into custody alive.

On July 26, 2012 Canine Officer Marty Dulworth responded to an Officer Down call in a neighboring town. Soon after arriving Marty and his canine Kilo would find themselves fighting for their lives. Marty's brother Joe was off-duty but heard that his brother had been shot over the radio and immediately drove to the scene and put himself in harm's way, in order to save his brother's life.
On February 28, 1997 LAPD officers responded to a bank robbery in progress in North Hollywood. For the next 44 minutes over 400 officers would find themselves involved in the biggest and most violent shootout in law enforcement history. Outgunned and out armored by the two robbers, the first wave of responding officers would find themselves in a terrifying fight for their lives.
In the early morning hours of October 19, 1971 a young girl named Cheryll Spegal went missing. It was her 10th birthday and Cheryll was running late and hurried off to the bus stop. It was a dark morning and the air was thick with heavy fog. Cheryll never made it to the bus and was found dead 13 days later. The case remains unsolved but Beth Rowland, author of the blog Gone In The Fog, and the Kentucky State Police are still investigating it and remain hopeful that it will one day be solved.
Todd decided to take a chance and throw a curveball at you 10-41ers. He had an interview with his friend and legendary standup comedian Stewart Huff in the can for a bonus episode of his comedy podcast FUNTOWN. And because he enjoyed this conversation so much and because of what they ended up talking about, he decided to throw it into the 10-41 feed as well. Stewart Huff is a different kind of comedian. His evangelistic delivery, philosophical mind and passion for lesser-known historical events and stories make him one-of-a-kind in the standup comedy industry and someone Todd thought you should get to know.
Joseph McMoneagle was among one of the first to be recruited for a classified project called the Stargate. Stargate has since been declassified, revealing that in 1978 a secret unit was established at Fort Meade, Maryland by the Defense Intelligence Agency and Stanford Research Institute International to investigate the potential for psychic phenomena in military and domestic intelligence applications. Stargate was the inspiration for the movie The Men Who Stair at Goats.
Joe McMoneagle was a Chief Warrant Officer who was known for being extra lucky in Vietnam. Always knowing where land mines were and when incoming artillery fire was imminent. He was serving internationally for U.S. Army Intelligence when recruited into Stargate and he retired as one of the program's most decorated and successful remote viewers. This is his story.
This episode is very special to me because I was able to tell the whole story of the shootout me and my team were involved in near the end of my law enforcement career. On February 21, 2007 Lt. Eric McElhaney, on his way to stop for coffee with his shift partners, decided to stop one more car and quickly found himself in a fight for his life. This is his story.
Ernie Witten is not only a good friend of mine, he was, and is, a legendary undercover officer in the area that I worked. He retired after 32 years of service with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and served 27 of those years in an undercover capacity. 27 years of putting himself in countless dangerous and vulnerable situations in service of his community. One of those situations almost cost him his life, but through all of it he remains one of the most positive and optimistic people I know.
David Ray Camm is a former trooper of the Indiana State Police who spent 13 years in prison after twice being wrongfully convicted of the murders of his wife, Kimberly, and his children, Brad (7) and Jill (5), at their home in Georgetown, Indiana, on September 28, 2000. He was released from custody in 2013 after his third trial resulted in an acquittal. This is the story as I understand it.

John Veasey was a hitman and soldier in the Philadelphia crime family, he was a close associate to John Stanfa who was his mentor and boss in the Philadelphia crime family. After 2 members of his crew shot him 4 times, he turned state's evidence and is now a successful businessman and all around good dude to hang out with.
In January of 1958, 19-year-old Charles Starkweather and his 14-year-old girlfriend Caril Ann Fugate…hit the road and went on a 2-month killing spree…murdering 11 people between Nebraska and Wyoming. To this day, Caril Ann’s level of participation is the subject of controversy.

Dennis Lynn Rader is an American serial killer known as BTK or the BTKStrangler. Rader gave himself the name "BTK" (for "bind, torture, kill"). Between 1974 and 1991, Rader killed ten people in the Wichita, Kansas metro area. This is his story and the story of the police detectives who finally stopped him.

On my very first day as a detective for the Indiana State Police I was briefed, as was every new detective at the Indianapolis District at that time, on an unsolved case referred to as The Burger Chef Murders. I was introduced to the lead investigator on that case and worked with him or under his command for a good portion of my career. I even had the opportunity to assist him for a short stint with this case.
He's retired now and over 41 years later, this case remains unsolved. Or does it? Because he's retired now, he's free to share with you the details of his work on the case. Much of his story, findings and opinions on the case have never been shared publicly and I thought it was important that he do so. If this case is ever going to have a chance at being prosecuted, word has to get out.
