Today, we delved into 1 John 4:18, which tells us that perfect love casts out fear. We explored how fear, often rooted in guilt, can torment us and prevent us from experiencing God's perfect love. Guilt can stem from various sources such as failure, rejection, isolation, and past mistakes. However, God's love is GREATER THAN MY GUILT and we don't have to live under its shadow.
Today, we delved into Galatians 6:9, a verse that encourages us not to grow weary in doing good, for in due season, we will reap if we do not give up. We explored this verse through various translations to emphasize the importance of patience and perseverance in our spiritual journey. Life often feels routine, and time flies by quickly, but not all of us are in the same place. Some have had a great year, while others feel stuck or forgotten by God. The key question we addressed is: What do you do when it feels like it's been a while since youve seen God move in your life?
In this powerful message, we're reminded of the incredible value of our 'Sunday ticket' - our weekly opportunity to gather as the church. Just as sports fans invest in expensive packages to watch their favorite teams, we have an even greater treasure in our church community. This 'ticket' connects us with real people who are on the same journey of faith, provides a firm foundation of truth in the gospel, and offers a place for authentic worship. The message emphasizes Jesus' words in Matthew 16, where He declares He will build His church on the rock of Peter's confession. This foundation of truth is crucial in our lives, challenging us to grow in holiness and make God-honoring choices. We're encouraged to embrace the beauty of corporate worship, allowing our praise to not only glorify God but also to encourage those around us. Ultimately, our 'Sunday ticket' isn't just about personal benefit - it's about seeing lives changed, addictions broken, and lost souls saved. As we reflect on this, let's cherish our church community and actively participate in God's transformative work.
Today, we explored the profound concept of "Dreaming God Dreams." Reflecting on the early church's experience in Acts 2, we see that visions, prophecies, and dreams are not reserved for a select few but are meant to be a daily reality for every Spirit-filled believer. These divine dreams and visions are God's way of showing us His plans for our lives, our communities, and the world around us. They are not unattainable supernatural experiences but should be integrated into our everyday lives, guiding us to see through God's eyes and act according to His will.To dream God dreams, we must first be sensitive to God's voice in our daily lives. This sensitivity allows us to catch glimpses of His vision for our marriages, our churches, and our communities, even in mundane places like the grocery store. God has prepared good works for us before we were born, and living out these works is the best life we can lead.A powerful example of a God dream is the story of Ima's Home, a ministry birthed from a vision to rescue abandoned street children in the Philippines. This dream required sensitivity to God's prompting, a willingness to act despite uncertainty, and a commitment to do whatever it takes to see the dream fulfilled. The transformation of children like Benito and Ea, who were rescued from dire circumstances and given new hope and purpose, illustrates the far-reaching impact of living out God's dreams.God dreams often start as small concerns or observations, like noticing children on the streets, and grow into passionate missions that change lives. They require us to use what we have, take the first step in faith, and trust that God will provide the resources and open doors. From Luke 7, Pastor Rodney shared the story of a woman who had been deemed a sinner by the Pharisees who came in and wept at the feet of Jesus, washing them with her tears and drying them with her hair. In spite of the label placed on her, Jesus gave her a new label, declaring her forgiven. Are there labels that you are carrying on your life. Regardless of how you've been LABELED, Jesus sees you differently, and His label is the only one that matters.
In our third week of TUG OF WAR, Pastor Thompson continued to share insights on how to win the internal struggle between the flesh and the spirit.
On Sunday, we had the privilege of hearing from our guest, Pastor David Hale, from Fayetteville, NC, as he shared a powerful faith-building message encouraging us to set God free in our lives to do what seems impossible by TAKING THE LIMITS OFF GOD. You will be blessed by his amazing ministry.
Continuing with TUG-OF-WAR from last Sunday, Pastor Thompson expounded upon the internal battle that rages within us and the power of Christ to give us victory and set us free.
Paul describes the internal battle that we all face between doing what is right, and following after our sinful nature in Romans 7. He describes it as a constant battle; wanting to do what is right, and yet doing what is wrong. We see the pursuit of good despite the mistakes and failures along the way. It's almost as if Paul is experiencing internal battle - a TUG OF WAR.
We all go through things that can cause us to have unresolved anger, grief, and frustration. If we are not diligent to surrender these things to the Lord, they can take up root in our lives and become a great source of bitterness. Paul tells us to get rid of all bitterness but how do we do it? What do we do WHEN LIFE TURNS BITTER? From the life of Naomi, we learn that in spite of the bitterness, we can turn to God and find redemption from the most of sour of circumstances.
Examining the first chapter of the book of Philippians, we find Paul chained in prison and yet boldly declaring that his imprisonment is not to be feared or dreaded but rather because of Christ. Because of his chains, the gospel was going forth and he found joy in the midst of the prison cell. Perhaps there are things that you feel trapped in, but if surrendered to God they can become the very thing that feeds your testimony and brings joy in the midst of what you may have thought of as a prison. Today, you are NOT A HOSTAGE, but rather a tool in the hands of God impacting your world!
Many times, throughout scripture, God as he called men and women into service, he would change their name. The new name given would speak to their calling, their future, and the opportunity that God was creating in their life. Today is no different. What is it that God has planned for you future, and what name of destiny is he speaking over your life? Pastor Thompson shared this powerful message in "A New Name."
On Independence Day weekend, Pastor Thompson dove in on freedom - but not political freedom or nationalistic pride, but rather spiritual freedom from the baggage that we have collected over the course of our lives. One day as Jesus walked near the temple, he happened upon a pool, known as Bethesda, where those that were disabled were sitting, and met a man who had been sick for 38 years. He asked this paralyzed man a very important question - DO YOU WANT TO GET WELL? It seems rhetorical doesn't it? He's been sick for 38 years. Of course, he wanted to be well. Yet, rather than respond favorably, he made excuses. . . and many times we do as well. Pastor Rodney challenges us to take a step of faith, do what we can and trust God for what we can't. DO YOU WANT TO GET WELL?
Following Pentecost, the birth of the church, the disciples and new followers of Jesus Christ began to experience great things as a result of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. From Psalm 11, Pastor Thompson unpacks the timeless truths that David shared as his reasons for placing his trust in the Lord. In trying times, when life gets complicated, its amazing to know that we can boldly declare I TRUST IN THE LORD.
Over and over, throughout the Bible, we are commanded to Watch, particularly as the times progress and draw closer to the day of the Lord's Return. How do we Watch? Watching allows us to ensure that we are prepared for that day - so then, to be obedient, what should we be watching. Pastor Rodney uses an acronym for WATCH to consider our words, attitudes, temptations, character, and household. As Christians, we have a responsibility to be on guard; to WATCH.
Jesus declared that no one knows the day nor the hour when His return would be, but we can, without hesitation, boldly declare that HE'S COMING BACK. The world is filled with well-intentioned prognosticators who endeavor to pick the time of His return, but Pastor Thompson shares an important message of hope, reminding us of our responsibility to live in a state of readiness for His return will be at an hour when we lead expect it, and we must be ready!
On Sunday, Pastor Anthony Ballestero from Clearwater, FL shared of the post- Easter experience of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus, and although they did not know Jesus, they soon recognized Him as He shared the truths of His resurrection and offered them the broken bread that he shared. We experience and know Jesus best through the revelation of His Word - The Bread of His Presence.
As the Easter season comes to a close, we find that the true power of the resurrection is that we are included in the story, becuase just as Jesus was risen from the grave, we too are invited to be RISEN WITH CHRIST, into the new life that is the privilege of every New Testament believer.
On Easter Sunday, Pastor Thompson shared a powerful Resurrection day message, reminding all of us that God cared enough to become what we needed that we might discover the power of a relationship with Him through His Son Jesus Christ.

Paul declares that if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things pass away and all things are made new. Yet many times, in spite of our conversion experience, we live in the old ways that God has called us out from. Instead of stopping our spiritual growth at conversion, Pastor Thompson challenged the Life Church community to go beyond conversion and to pursue transformation, genuinely demonstrating what happens WHEN OLD BECOMES NEW.

As Mary & Joseph showed up in Bethlehem at the time of the birth of Christ, they could not find a room to stay, and found themselves in a makeshift stable (probably a cave) where the travellers left their animals, and thus Jesus was born and laid a manger because there was no room. So many times our lives are filled with so many other things that we have no room for him. He patiently waits and yet we continue to push Him out because we are too crowded with all sorts of clutter in our lives. We must MAKE ROOM for Him in our lives, if we expect His best for us. As Pastor Rodney continued in our Kingdom Series, this week we moved to Matthew 6 in Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, where Jesus begins to challenge our motives for doing good things. Pastor Rodney continued the series of messages from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount considering His call to each of us to be a part of His Kingdom and to live at a level that far surpasses the normal expectations of a fallen world. Based on the systems of this world, the Kingdom of Heaven appears to be an UPSIDE-DOWN KINGDOM, but it's actually a very right-side up Kingdom when you remove the stigma of sin from the equation.
In Acts 3, Peter and John went to the temple in the middle of afternoon where they met a man crippled from birth who sat and begged each day. When asked for money, Peter and John responded, not with money, but with what they had - the power of Jesus Christ demonstrated through faith in His name. In John 8, Jesus is presented by the Pharisees with a woman caught in her sinful acts, which according to the law was punishable by stoning. As a result, we struggle with our faith because it seems to not be strong enough or somehow less because we have questions. Today, Pastor Rodney argues that doubt, for many, is the starting point of a real honest and genuine faith. All of life is a process - and it's no different as a Christian. We are all in process. God patiently works to perfect us into his image. Jeremiah describes God as a potter who works clay into a vessel, constantly working out all the imperfections. As a Christian our goal each day should be to be placed on the potter's wheel and shaped by "THE POTTER'S HANDS."
As we approach the Christmas holiday, the theme of joy is an important part of the season. It is also is an overriding theme for the book of Philippians. Paul tells us in Philippians that we are to be joyful at all times. Is that possible? Can we be JOYFUL NO MATTER WHAT? Pastor Rodney shared some thoughts from Paul's writings as to how we can be full of the joy of Jesus at all times.

Here Pastor Thompson answers that question much as John did 2000 years ago. . .
Jersey Sunday is a fun day each year where we represent our favorite teams and celebrate our relationship with Jesus together. On Mother's Day, we heard from Pastor Robin Thompson, the wife of our Lead Pastor, who shared a wonderful message from the life of Hannah in 1 Samuel 1-2. It's so amazing to see God's hand in middle of our messy lives, as we surrender ourselves to Him and gain His favor in the midst of tough circumstances.
Following the resurrection, Jesus showed himself to His disciples along with many of the other residents of Jerusalem, revealing himself to have indeed risen from the grave. To those who doubted, Jesus even offered his own wounds as proof. For us today, Chrisitanity is constantly facing challenges - but the greatest proof of Jesus' being alive is your changed life - your testimony of His amazing grace and power in your life.
Throughout the course of history, the world has witnessed the demonstration of the power of God through countless miracles, signs and wonders. While Jesus was on the earth, they declared His amazing works as blinded eyes were opened, deaf hears heard, diseases were healed, limbs grew back correctly, dead folks lived again. . . and yet none of these sufficed as the greatest miracle of all. He once asked the question, "Which is harder - to forgive sins or to heal the lame?" The greatest miracle of all required the greatest sacrifice of all - for to forgive sins required the "AMAZING JESUS" to lay down His life for all mankind.
As Jesus approached Jerusalem on His final march to Calvary, the crowd of onlookers erupted in shouts of praise to the Messiah, the one who'd come to bring salvation - with cries of Hosanna - they waved palm branches and laid them on the ground to welcome Jesus. Pastor Thompson shared a life-giving message on Palm Sunday, exhibiting the power and value of praising God, as he made the statement "Let's Make Every Sunday Palm Sunday."
Pastor Thompson shares from the story about the lame man laying beside the Pool of Bethesda and how Jesus asked the man, Do you want to be made well? Jesus is asking us the same question. Not do we believe God can heal us but do we WANT God to heal us? Sometimes God is waiting on us to WANT to be whole and to decide to make better choices to change our life. Change and healing isnt always easy, but God can help us if we actually want it.
SUNDAY REWIND. . . In the midst of tough times, you may feel isolated, alone, and even distant from God. Pastor Rodney shared on Sunday how Job, in the Old Testament, searched for God but could not find Him. And yet, he knew that God knew the path that He was on, and He knew the future plans for Job, and he believed that once the trial had passed, he would come forth as gold. Today, you may feel as if you are in a dark place, a cave of uncertainty, but the knowledge that God is with you can provide a source of Light in the Darkness. We pray that this message ministers to you today!

Sometimes God doesn't answer our requests the way we expect. Sometimes it doesn't seem to make sense. It may not even seem that he's working at all. But just because you can't see it, it doesn't mean He's not moving on your behalf to bring you to the miracle that you need. You just have to learn how to trust when you experience The Mud in the Middle.
