Being one of the only Promoters trying to Bridge the Bay, we were able to connect Artists and strengthen the music scene. We had to take the gloves off for this interview and talk about something that isn't often talked about in the hip-hop community: HEALTH. Gat$ is one of the elite hip-hop artists in Tampa Bay. He's been featured on Rolling Loud Concerts in LA, Miami and New York. He performed at the Gasparilla Music Festival. We lost another great one last week and the best way we could celebrate him at Waves Of The Bay was through music. We met Michael Jo'Mae throughout our many years of doing shows in Tampa and St. Pete and his energy and presence were bigger than life. His talent was easy to see and seemed so naturally effortless. Any stage we've seen him on he's owned. He applied that command of the stage to his acting. He used that fearlessness to empower his weight loss. His music was the heartbeat and catalyst to it all. It was always love and encouragement when we saw the Panda and his aura will truly be missed. We were able to have one of his Producers and Friends Jay Wizz call in to share some memories and pay respects to the Blck Buddha.

Episode 78 of Waves Of The Bay culminated a very long but rewarding day for us. Our very own DJ Spaceship had the honor of being the maestro for the Tampa Bay Black Heritage Festival and he did his thang! We had to discuss the magnitude of the situation, the evolution of our craft and also highlights of the event. We also spoke with Theo Lane for the Mother's Day Weekend edition of Waves Of The Bay. Theo is an amazing vocalist and writer and his music has appeared on our show many times during our run. He linked up with one of our favorites, Khalea Lynee from The Voice, to create an anthem for the Mothers (produced by Ryan Copeland Music). We debuted "Momma We Love You" on the show and got to pick his brain about the significance of the song and the content.

We spent some time memorializing our fallen Hip-Hop Heroes on this episode in addition to showing love to one of our biggest fans and supporters: Herminia Gonzalez. We had one of our most touching fan letters specifically addressed to DJ Spaceship. It's been a rough start to 2021 and we're blessed to be healthy and doing what we love. For the third week in a row we're saying goodbye to a hip-hop great and THIS ONE HITS HOME. Shock G. actually grew up in Tampa, resides in Tampa, and has popped up at several of our events over the years. He was the catalyst behind Digital Underground, The Humpty Dance and the discovery of Tupac Shakur. Every interaction we had with him was genuine and he really showed us, and the Tampa Bay Music Community, authentic love. We lost him this past week and we felt it was right to run through some of our favorite tracks he was a part of for Episode 76.

Episode 72 was an extension of our Donation Drive from the week before. Jasen from ImPowered Minds LLC called in to show support for the show and our very own DJ Spaceship had to put his words to the test. Ship said that he would do a pushup for every dollar donated to the show and we had 200 reasons for him to backtrack..but he did his thing! And we have the footage to prove it! We took it back to the beginning of our WMNF days and worked out of the legendary Kenny K studios for Episode 70 of Waves Of The Bay. It was a nostalgic moment for us because we used to man this studio Saturdays Nights with the Shutdown Crew for about 6 months before we got the opportunity for our own time slot. DJ Spaceship killed the mix and we had to revisit our opinions on Coming 2 America. Tone also wanted to take it back home to Kansas and he created a Junk Town Baywatch to show off his hometown talent.

This year Halloween fell on a weekend..so of course Episode 51 of Waves Of The Bay showed love to All Hallows Eve. We ran with a Halloween theme set for the first hour of the show and finished up Hour 2 with the Tampa BayWatch and some heavy hitters out of the Bay.

We lost a huge contributor to the Tampa Bay Music Community and we had to pay tribute to a man who showed so much love: Kenan "Kenosobi" Hercules. Keno was full of love and support and notorious for his smile. Music was his outlet for greatness and he was an amazing Producer, Drummer and Hip-Hop Artist. As good as he was at music he was even better at life. He was a caring Father, a loving Son, a loyal Brother and a dedicated Husband. He was selfless and stoic and he’s going to be missed. We talked to some of the people who knew him best and shared some of his music during this tribute. Just a little bit over a year ago WAVES of the BAY made it's debut on Flohio Radio, not knowing the literal waves it would cause. The man behind Flohio, Sergio Santana, knew us from the hip-hop scene in Tampa Bay and gave us a chance to take our show to the airwaves. We had to take the gloves off for this interview and talk about something that isn't often talked about in the hip-hop community: HEALTH. Gat$ is one of the elite hip-hop artists in Tampa Bay. He's been featured on Rolling Loud Concerts in LA, Miami and New York. He performed at the Gasparilla Music Festival. He's done a lot in a little bit of time but his time was almost cut even shorter due to Sickle Cell Anemia and a late diagnosis. We talked about it all on this must watch must share interview.

She actually performed at our 2nd ever event 7 years ago (Ignite The Mic 2) and the transition she's made since then is expected and noticeable. We first met Tyven (@the.malady.of.ty) when he was a 15 year old competitor in our 2nd Elemental Warfare Beat Battle. We witnessed greatness as he went on to win that and at least 3 others battles over the past few years.
