Disney hits the high seas of the Pacific with Lin Manuel Miranda songs and The Rock singing. Moana was so popular that is already spawned a successful sequel AND a live action version coming soon. Where does Moana rank on the pantheon of Disney classics though? How shiny is this tale of a girl who sets out on an adventure saving her people and connecting the dots of her heritage. Check out our review to hear our thoughts and let us know what you think of Moana.
'Tis the season for murder in this new film from director Sriram Raghavan, starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi. A meet cute at a theater turns dark as secrets and sin run deep in this holiday thriller. Check out our new review and let us know what you think of the movie "Merry Christmas".
12th Fail is a wildly entertaining story of hope and triumph with heart and plenty of laughs. The story of one man's struggle to pass officer tests and bring about pride and honor to his family is a joy to watch.
John Carpenter, the master or horror behind such classics as "Halloween" and "The Thing" brings a different take on the possession genre with a little science fiction flair in this lessor known 80s flick, Prince of Darkness. Reuniting with Dr. Loomis himself (Donald Pleasence) and with a surprise appearance by Alice Cooper this cheesy, yet intriguing horror film is quite entertaining. We are joined by special guest G.G. Abrahams of the Ridiculous World of G.G. Abrahams in this latest episode of FYC Film Review.
The FYC duo had to enlist the help of a fellow dream warrior to tackle another Freddy Krueger franchise film. The third installment of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise is chock full of familiar faces and takes the fight to Freddy in a direct sequel to the original Elm Street film. Some would even say this is the best of all films with this classic horror monster! Check out this new review from FYC with special guest star G.G. Abrahams.
From the director of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the maestro that is Steven Spielberg comes a haunted house tale you probably already saw. If you have NOT seen the original Poltergeist we suggest you do so now and then check out our review of the 1982 classic. Just the perfect campy horror flick we all need for the spooky season.
A story that has been told time and time again...only animated! Disney tackles the classic tale of Robin and his merry men, err animals as they rob from the rich and give to the poor. An underrated film for the mouse house that doesn't feel talked about enough. Tune in for the full review and let us know your thoughts on Robin Hood.
A fictional espionage thriller set to the backdrop of the Sri Lanka civil war. While the true story of the atrocities of a decades long war are gripping the characters in Madras Cafe just don't pull you in to make you care about them enough. The story feels a bit underweight as we follow an agent and a journalist as they navigate their roles in the war. Tune in to hear all our thoughts on the film and let us know what you thought!
What do you get when you cross a western with a young, hot, Hollywood cast? A sequel of course! After the success of Young Guns about a band of regulators in the old west, comes the follow up. Aptly named Young Guns II. With a new director and writer, along with a host of new fresh faces. Can this sequel live up to its predecessor? Check out our review to hear our take and let us know what you think of Young Guns II.
Say his name three times and he'll be there to help with all your beyond the grave problems! Problem is no one has said his name in 35+ years and it probably should've stayed that way. The gang is back together for a long awaited sequel to Beetlejuice but with mixed results. Gone is the joy and wonder that Burton so masterfully crafted back in the 80s. Let us know what you thought of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice in the comments!
As another Olympics come to a close, we look back to 1996 when the summer games were hosted in Atlanta and a terrorist attack was thwarted by an unlikely hero. A security guard named Richard Jewell found the explosives and was able to help law enforcement save hundreds of lives. His thanks came in the form of the FBI treating him as the prime suspect. Clint Eastwood delivers an excellent telling of one man's rise and fall from hero to villain and back again in this 2019 drama.
Eddie Murphy is back as Detective Axel Foley for a fourth installment some 40 years after he first debuted the character. All your favorites from the franchise make appearances but is it enough nostalgia to make the film worth it? Your FYC hosts are at odds over this and debate away on this new review of Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.
Westerns were a staple in Hollywood for decades before moviegoers tastes changed and no one went to see them any longer. The answer? A hip young cast and cool music centered around a Billy the Kid story. Emilio Estevez takes the reigns as the infamous gunslinger alongside a cast that includes Charlie Sheen & Kiefer Sutherland. Saddle up and check out our new review of the 1988 film, Young Guns
To say "One Crazy Summer" is an acquired taste is a fair assessment of our review this time around. Not the ideal choice for the inaugural FYC review from John Cusack's film portfolio. Some solid comedy from Bobcat Goldthwait and a classic 80s soundtrack can't really bring your FYC hosts to agree on whether this is a true summer classic. Let us know your thoughts on the movie and if you agreed with our review!
The Merc with the mouth is back for the third time in Deadpool & Wolverine. Finally bringing Hugh Jackman as Wolverine to play in the new Marvel universe. Filled with more jokes than you can laugh at and a slew of cameos from the history of Marvel movies. Does it live up to the hype for your FYC hosts? Check out our take and ratings and let us know what you think of Deadpool & Wolverine!
A time traveling convict has to find clues to stop a madman from destroying the world in order to earn his freedom. Terry Gilliam of the comedy troupe Monty Python directs this futuristic dystopian thriller that also stars Brad Pitt.
Before there were wars in the stars, George Lucas gave us a war in the streets of central valley California. Full with hot rods and the tunes of the 60s this ode to life after high school during a summer evening is chalk full of future stars. From Harrison Ford to Richard Dreyfuss and Ron Howard, American Graffitti is a who's who of Hollywood stars all unknown back then.
Stephen King and the maestro of horror, George A. Romero? This HAS to be a recipe for success, right? Well...not quite. Creepshow turns into an extremely lengthy film with very little to write home about. Check out our new episode to hear our thoughts and let us know what you think about the 1982 film, Creepshow.
30 years ago a small indie film based on a graphic novel became a huge hit thanks in large part to Brandon Lee's epic take on the "back from the dead" hero, Eric Draven. First time film director Alex Proyas delivers a rock and roll action film with such grit. Not only does this movie hold up but it will be hard for the remake to live up to its predecessor.
A superhero strikes like lightning or "Minnal" in this case. A strong story and good direction make up for a bloated run time in this action adventure starring Tovino Thomas in the lead role. We're ready for a sequel!
Ryan Reynolds can usually do no wrong and when you combine him with the talented writing/directing skills of John Krasinki you'd think they couldn't miss. Sadly, this was not the case for "IF". The new kids? movie fell a bit flat. Check out our latest episode to hear all our thoughts on the new film and let us know what you thought of IF.
Hard to believe it was 25 years ago that Shakespeare wrote this hilarious teen comedy with a breakout performance by Heath Ledger. Ok, technically his play "The Taming of the Shrew" was the inspiration but close enough. The late 90s were chalk full of wild teen comedies but few hit the mark like this film that launched more than a few careers.
Where does a comedy end and a thought provoking look at organized religion begin? The movie PK brings the laughs but also brings some deep questions on faith and humanity and we are here for it. Starring the awesome Aamir Khan bringing to life an alien stuck on earth trying to find the god that will answer his prayers to go home. What are your thoughts on PK?
Before Gyllenhaal there was Swayze. A silly premise of a film about a bouncer that comes to town to help turn around an out of control bar. Not enticing enough? What if we tell you he does tai chi and kicks so much ass? This one has it all. An R rating, solid soundtrack and of course the mustachioed man Sam Elliot as our hero's mentor. Check out our review and let us know what you think of the 1989 original Roadhouse.
Police comedies aren't a new concept in cinema but there hasn't quite been something like Kathal. A lighthearted story about missing prized jackfruits and the cops who can't find takes a dark turn but doesn't quite stick the landing. Straight to Netflix films always seem to be missing that certain something and this film is no exception.
Team Godzilla? Team King Kong? How about a team UP of the two legendary monsters? That is what's in store for your FYC hosts this time around. The new Godzilla x Kong is large, loud, and lacking story but we had a good time...sort of. Let us know your thoughts on the new movie and our review!
A long time ago in a a town with a lot of land there were these things called malls. A place where people came together to shop, eat and get in their steps. Fresh off his critical darling "Clerks", director Kevin Smith delivered a 90s comedy for the masses that didn't quite land initially. Thanks to the power of dvds though it became a cult classic. A comedy stuck in time that still holds up...mostly because of the awesome performance by Jason Lee.
A child and their pet is an age old trope in cinema but if done right they can unlock new magic in the viewers eyes. Our new episode on "Okja" the 2017 by visionary director Bong Joon Ho is just the movie to do that. Well at least in the eyes of one of your FYC hosts. Check out the new review and let us know if you've seen Okja and what you thought.
Another throw away Spider-Man adjacent film from Sony Pictures. Could this be the worst in the run of non Peter Parker stories that are supposed to take place in Spider-Man's world? We did the homework so you don't have to. Check out our thoughts on Madame Web starring Dakota Johnson.
What better way to celebrate a new year than to watch something about the end of the world...at least how we knew it. We've got mixed feelings on this suspenseful film starring Mahershala Ali, Julia Roberts, and Ethan Hawke. Does this Netflix movie bring you the thrills? Let us know!
The Netflix documentary that you probably haven't seen yet! The story of Jolly Joseph and her connection with the deaths of six family members in a fourteen year span. A gripping and tragic doc that will leave you bewildered and wanting more answers.
He-Man had the power long before they attempted to bring him to life on the big screen. A hugely popular toy becomes a cartoon that becomes a movie and well......it's no Barbie. Dolph Lundgren gives his best? shot at playing He-Man but unfortunately this movie falls flat for your FYC hosts. Let us know your thoughts on the loin-clothed hero from Eternia in the 1987 Masters of the Universe.
Who says you can never go home again? You may not want to but sometimes fate will bring you face to face with your high school crush in hilarious ways. A pre-Deadpool Ryan Reynolds plays a formerly friend zoned guy trying to reconnect with the girl that he likes in his hometown. In tow is the hilarious Anna Faris as a pop-star a la Brittney Spears in this awesomely underrated holiday comedy.
The action hero becomes an action figure in the 1996 Christmas comedy Jingle All The Way. A desperate father fights the crowds and a mailman in an attempt to land the hottest toy of the season for his son. Despite having Arnold Schwarzenegger this holiday film is no classic in our eyes.
He's alone but not at home this time. We rejoin the McAllister family on another Christmas holiday where they somehow get separated from Kevin. Lost in the New York City and once again facing off against the likes of Marv and Harry (now known as the sticky bandits). Your FYC hosts had a split decision on their feelings toward this sequel. Tune in and let us know your thoughts on Home Alone 2.
We dive back in to another serving from Wes Anderson but this time on the animated side. His 2009 film, Fantastic Mr. Fox has a stellar voice cast in George Clooney and Meryl Streep. Along with the usual Wes alums such as Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, and Owen Wilson. The premise is based on a Roald Dahl book of the same name about a fox who just can't stop robbing the local farms despite the troubles it brings. A feast for the eyes and entertaining more for the adults than the kids.
The classic romance story of wrong lunch at the right time is the basis for this 2013 drama starring the late great Irrfan Khan and Nimrat Kaur. Two lonely strangers become penpals in India through a lunch delivery service. What follows is a sweet yet subtle story of life, love, and the pursuit of a good meal.
You know it, you love it and by golly Disney is going to get it right if it takes three tries. Back in 2003 we were given the first attempt of a Haunted Mansion movie starring Eddie Murphy. If you missed it, you aren't alone. It opened to less than favorable reviews and a quiet box office return. Some 20 years later we get their second attempt. With a star studded cast and a fairly strong story (considering its origin) this movie brings the laughs and haunts.
It's time to do the Mario! So check out our new review on the Illumination animated Super Mario Bros. movie that was a worldwide hit. It was a castle divided as your FYC hosts didn't quite agree on the mushroom madness.
It's spooky season folks and we've got a folktale for you! Robert Eggers' first film "The Witch" from 2015 is beautiful to look at with an excellent performance by a then unknown Anya Taylor-Joy. But where's the witch?! The intensity and suspense is well crafted but what did your FYC hosts rate it. Tune in to find out and let us know what you though of 2015's "The Witch".
Pride, Greed, Lust, Envy, Gluttony, Wrath, and Sloth. The 7 deadly sins we all know well by now. But have you ever seen them presented in a twisted horror tale this well? Tumbbad is just that and more. A stylistic movie from 2018 that was another suggestion from the audience. Highly recommended by your FYC crew this spooky season. Or any season really!
For your consideration this episode is a wildly entertaining horror? comedy about the worst wedding night you could imagine. Samara Weaving is excellent and Adam Brody shines as always in this underrated film from 2019. Let us know what you thought of the film!
The genius that was Paul Reubens will mostly be remembered for his infamous character Pee-Wee Herman. What started as part of his stand up, turned into a hit with kids and later spawned a Saturday morning television show. Between that we were treated to the directorial debut of Tim Burton and his first pairing with composer Danny Elfman in Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. I wild tale of a boy and his bike. Something only the incredible Paul could make entertaining for all. RIP Mr. Reubens.
We went in the way back machine for another recommendation from the audience. This time it's '3 Idiots', a comedy from the late 2000s about two friends on the search for their estranged college friend. The story is told in both present time and flash backs and is an excellent comedy full of heart.
Harrison Ford is back for one more? go as Indiana Jones. Your FYC hosts DIAL it it to talk all things Indy in this new episode of a classic hero. Is it your DESTINY to agree with our rating? Hope this review doesn't give you whiplash!
Tom is back doing Tom things in the newest entry to the Mission: Impossible franchise. Dead Reckoning....Part One? From a grand finale on a train to the return of Kittridge, this mission is full of twists and turns but does it improve on Fallout? Let us know your thoughts on Dead Reckoning and thanks for tuning in!
A gripping historical biopic on Udham Singh, a revolutionary who spent nearly twenty years plotting his revenge on the men responsible for the brutal Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
If you blinked and missed the speedster in theaters this summer, you're not alone. The Flash movie didn't quite hit the mark with audiences but it DID bring back the best Batman ever in Michael Keaton. With that and a new Supergirl in the mix could DC deliver a movie strong enough to overcome Ezra Miller's troubles? Tune in to hear our thoughts and ratings on the film and drop us a note on what you thought of the movie.
We went back in the hot swamp time machine for this Wes Craven B movie based of a DC Comics character of the same name. The laughs aren't meant to be there but what can you expect when you get a low budget horror(ish) take on a scientist turned swamp superhero? Tune in to here our takes, ratings and tell us what we should cover next!
Released during the "Renaissance" period of Disney animation, Hercules is perhaps the forgotten treasure of the bunch. As the move to computer animation was happening with the huge success of Toy Story, this tale of the half god hero is underrated in our opinion. The classic Greek tale is retold in the Disney way with great direction and a catchy soundtrack.
Well we've made it past the half way point in the new Marvel show "She-Hulk" and what have we got? Not much. Some cute moments, some promise, but overall a lack of direction. This got us moving in the opposite way and moving on from the series. Tell us what we're missing and why we shouldn't give up just yet!
"Their First Assignment" is our last Police Academy review. We just love to go back to the well and after reviewing the 3rd installment of this beloved? franchise we thought we would check out the 2nd as well. Turns out that wasn't the best idea we've had. Not even an extra dose of Bobcat Goldthwait was enough to keep us entertained on this one.
After taking a breather we're back, pulling double jury duty for the latest She-Hulk episodes. (3 & 4). Come twerk along with us for a recap of the episodes and to hear what we think is coming next.
Eddie Murphy was the undisputed king of comedy in the 80s and Beverly Hills Cop is still one of his most memorable roles. As Axel Foley, a Detroit detective in Beverly Hills, Eddie turns in a hilarious fish out of water performance in this 1984 buddy cop action flick.
We're back for another quick recap of "She-Hulk" this week for episode 2. Tune in for our thoughts on this week's episode and what we think is to come.
Since Marvel dropped a new show on Disney+, we thought we'd try our hand in a quick recap of "She-Hulk". Tune in for our thoughts on the premiere and what we think is to come.
The great debate that you weren't asking for! Somehow the FYC crew couldn't agree on whether the sequel to Sister Act is superior to it's predecessor. Spoilers....it isn't. But the guys did have fun comparing the two films starring your favorite nun, Whoopi!
In the late 90s there wasn't a movie made that didn't star Adam Sandler...or at least that's what it felt like. Lost in the shuffle of such memorable characters like Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore or The Waterboy is 1999's "Big Daddy". A story of a slacker too old to be slacking who adopts a child in an attempt to seem more grown up. While not the best Sandler has done the movie had heart and a few great cameos by Steve Buscemi and Rob Schneider.
We live in the land of nostalgia where a 35 year old movie finally gets a much needed sequel. That sequel? Top Gun: Maverick. The film that finally gave Tom Cruise his first billion dollar box office hit. We just couldn't resist checking out the 1986 OG that launched his film career to properly decide which Top Gun is truly best in class.
What was an adventure 65 million years in the making, is now a 30 year old film franchise with a decent track record. After the release of the most recent installment of the Jurassic World trilogy, "Dominion", we here at FYC thought it time to rank our favorite "Dinos Gone Wild" series as a whole. Tune in for some favorite memorable moments and let us know what your rankings would look like!
The Farrelly Brothers were the kings of the R rated comedies in the late 90s/early 2000s. With such hits like "There's Something About Mary" and "Kingpin" they masterfully blended the raunchy humor with a little heart. In 2000 they reunited with the ultimate physical comic Jim Carrey for "Me, Myself & Irene". Did they find magic once again or does this one fall short of their other gems?
Strange things are brewing here at FYC. We're bringing you a fresh new release for our film choice on this review episode. Sam Raimi is back in the Marvel universe after his good if not uneven Spider-Man trilogy. This time around he's going mad with a multiverse and bringing something new to the MCU.
The late 90s/early 2000s were chalk full of high school comedies both good and bad. 2004 gave us Tina Fey's screenwriting debut and another Lindsay Lohan hit with "Mean Girls". Numerous Saturday Night Live alum pop up in cameos and Rachel McAdams is great as the queen bee of the "plastics". Time to revisit those classic high school cliques!
Dead or alive we want you to watch this episode! Paul Verhoeven (Total Recall, Starship Troopers) directs this futuristic take on police work in Detroit with 1987s "Robocop". Come for the hot takes on a sci-fi classic. Stay for the divided rating/review from your FYC hosts.
The Goldblum makes Mount FYC in our review of one of his all time performances in David Cronenberg's remake of the 1958 movie, 'The Fly'. The romance was, dare we say, flying between Jeff and his then girlfriend Geena Davis in this cult sci-fi classic. Time for the FYC crew to teleport you back to the 80s with us.
Before the "Dude" hit the bowling alleys, Jeff Bridges was roaming the arcade world as Kevin Flynn in the 1982 sci-fi flick, "Tron". Stunning visual effects over shadow a strong story of a computer programmer who is swept into the digital world. After 40 years "Tron" is still a gem of a film possibly too early for it's own good.
Wes Craven, the master of horror launched a new era of slasher films with his 1996 movie "Scream". With a clever script and fun cast this is the film that catapulted Ghostface into notoriety along with other classic on-screen baddies like Freddy, Jason, and Michael Myers. After 4 sequels and a tv show, go back to where it all began with us on this new episode of FYC Film Review.
The Italian Stallion is back for a seventh time! This round he's outside the ring in a fresh take on the boxing legend's legacy. Director Ryan Coogler's 2015 film stars Michael B. Jordan as the son of Apollo Creed. A great cast, great score, and fresh boxing action take this Rocky Balboa entry to the top of the rankings.
Wes Anderson is a divisive director to say the least. When he burst onto the scene with his first mainstream film "Rushmore" in 1998 we were all treated to a legendary comedic performance by Bill Murray. How a new comer like Jason Schwartzman was able to go toe to toe with the likes of a comedy genius is reason to discuss. With a great ensemble cast and an eclectic soundtrack this is one movie you need to check out.
The iconic Robin Williams is known for some of our favorite childhood characters from the Genie to Mrs. Doubtfire to Peter Pan himself. Before any of that came about he starred in a little known movie from 1982 called "The World According To Garp". A terribly sexy and terribly sad film with a great ensemble case is our pick this week on FYC Film Review.
We all have that one Christmas present that stands out above all the others. The one that brought the happiest memory and you still talk about. Well what about the one that brought nightmares and chaos to your home? That's what is on tap this week from your FYC Film Review duo. The 1984 Steven Spielberg produced "Gremlins" has all the cuteness of a holiday film with the mayhem of a horror movie mixed in.
It's time to end the debate on whether this 1988 action extravaganza is a Christmas movie or not. FYC Film Review is here to say that "Die Hard" without a shadow of doubt, IS a holiday joy that should be enjoyed along side Santa's cookies. Take a trip back with us and John McClane for a little yippie-ki-yay!
Before Robert Downey Jr. became Iron Man, he dabbled in some private investigator work with none other than the Ice Man, Val Kilmer. Your FYC Film Review hosts were spirited in their review despite this not quite making the Christmas movie cut. Check out our "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" movie review!
There's still some Thanksgiving leftovers to get through before we are truly stuffed. Time to revisit the Peanuts gang and see what "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" adds to the holiday. Snoopy is making dinner and the FYC Film Review crew are here to devour the feast.
They say home is where the heart is but we submit this 1995 Jodie Foster comedy? "Home For The Holidays". Holly Hunter and the one and only Iron Man himself, Robert Downey, Jr. star in this tale of dysfunction and family time mostly well spent. Spoilers, you may not want to visit your folks after watching this!
We all love spending the holidays with our loved ones but how you get there can be another story. John Hughes, the master of 80s comedy, captured a road trip gone wrong in "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" (1987). With brilliant performances from Steve Martin and John Candy this packs the laughs with just the right touch of heart.
There can be only one...movie review that gives you all the fun facts and Sean Connery impressions to fill your day. Your FYC hosts are ready to crank up the Queen soundtrack and dive into the 1986 cult classic, "Highlander".
In the immortal words of Hades, "We dance, we kiss, we schmooze, we carry on, we go home happy. What do you say? Come on." Clearly our Hercules antagonist was a big fan of the musicals. While we don't necessarily count that Disney classic as your standard musical it gets the point across. Your FYC crew gets down with all their favorite musicals in this episode. Come along as we have all the recommendations that'll leave you humming tunes all day long.

We all know that if a movie is successful enough (aka makes bank), a sequel is inevitable. It's usually unnecessary but there are rare occasions when the sequel actually improves on the original. Well, your FYC Film Review hosts are here to tell you all about those ones. There may even be a little Sister Act debate snuck in.
