Innocent dabbling with the Bobbsey Twins and Nancy Drew led to a craving for stronger stuff—Christie, Conan Doyle, Poe—so that by the age of twelve I had a habit that couldn’t be broken. Here’s what makes a great mystery for me: plot twists that I didn’t see coming, characters like real people I know, motivations that make sense, and a touch of humor. I write novels. I mean, I do other things too – but the books are probably the reason you’re reading this. So here goes.
To date, I’ve had 24 full-length projects published. My most recent books are The Toll, The Agony House, and The Family Plot. My best-known book is probably Boneshaker (2009) – which was nominated for a Nebula Award and a Hugo Award. Boneshaker also won the PNBA Award, as well as the Locus Award for Best Science Fiction Novel.
On a more personal note – in 2006 I moved from Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Seattle, Washington. Then in 2012, I moved back to Tennessee. In 2017, I moved back to Seattle – where I live at present with my husband, two dogs, and a very large cat we call the House Yeti.
It’s kind of a long story.
I was born in Tampa, Florida, on the day Jimmy Hoffa disappeared. I’m inordinately fond of zombies, trashy goth music, and cheap red wine. I have a phobic aversion to unfinished ceramics, an allergy to yellow dye #7, and a morbid fear of sloths.
For further stats, check my Wikipedia entry. It’s mostly correct, though often at least partially wrong – and routinely out of date. Wikipedia won’t let me fix anything, even my occupations, publications, or graduation years. Apparently I’m not qualified to address such matters of hearsay.

This woman can flat out write! True story: when she pitched for the show, I was like, nah, I don't read her genre. But her email was so great. And her darn bio on Amazon was so funny. I decided to try the novel—no promises. AND I LOVED IT. I booked her and did something I NEVER do: I read the other books in her series (I usually just don't carve out that time). A.M. Geever, Author has been an avid reader of science fiction and fantasy from an early age, the only job she ever wanted--besides being a writer--was to be a Star Fleet Officer. Patricia Flaherty Pagan is a talkative introvert who enjoys writing and reading about strong women. She is the author of Trail Ways Pilgrims: Stories (The Crossroads Collection #1) and Enduring Spirit: Stories (The Crossroads Collection #2), as well as several award-winning literary, fantasy and crime stories. She offers developmental editing services to emerging writers. Pagan is the facilitator and curriculum developer for Crafting Strong Women, a series of generative writing workshops to help writers enrich and deepen their depictions of female-oriented characters. She also teaches short fiction writing at various writing centers. The mountains and the rural culture were a jarring contrast to the busy coastal plains, but once the shock wore off, Ken came to love it there. The mountains and hollows are spectacularly beautiful. The people are thoughtful, friendly, and quietly courageous. White Hall became his home, and his affection and respect for the area and its people have never left him.
Ken and his wife moved to Los Angeles in 1975, where he practiced law and served as an executive until he retired. They still live near their children and grandchildren in California, but a piece of his heart never left White Hall, and that place and time come out in his stories.

In the United States, The Personal History of Rachel DuPree won the Stephen Turner Award for New Fiction and the Langum Prize for American Historical Fiction. It was shortlisted for the Ohioana Book Award for Fiction and was a Barnes and Noble Discover New Writer.
Ann was born and raised in Kettering, Ohio, a suburb of Dayton. She graduated from Wright State University in Dayton with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and earned a Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of Houston. She has been a social worker in psychiatric and nursing home facilities and taught sociology at Wharton County Junior College in Texas. She was inducted into the Texas Institute of Letters.
In addition to Ohio and Texas, Ann has lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Des Moines, Iowa. She currently lives in Galveston, Texas. She and her husband, Rob, are fans of America’s national parks and visit at least one park a year. Ann is also an Astros baseball fan and keeps score when she attends games. As a journalist, Christina Hoag had her laptop searched by Colombian guerrillas and phone tapped in Venezuela, was suspected of drug trafficking in Guyana, hid under a car to evade Guatemalan soldiers, and posed as a nun to get inside a Caracas jail.
