If you run trails around Arkansas, you probably know who Wesley Hunt is.  Wesley is a beast of a runner and an all-around great guy.  He’s run Arkansas Traveller 100 five times and won it 4 of those times - placing 2nd on his first outing.  Earlier this year, he won the LOViT 100 and plans to return to Traveller this year after a 5-year break.   I love his outlook on embracing the emotions that come out during a race.  We get into the mental aspect of running Ultras, competition, and training for longevity in the sport.  We also chat about his experience with Arkansas Traveller 100, Western States 100, LOViT 100, Leadville 100 and others.  You’ll definitely enjoy the many nuggets of wisdom he drops in casual conversation!

Bryan Gillette started doing epic things at an early age. At 20 years old, he rode his bike across the US. Then he got into ultrarunning and after running other distances, completed the Tahoe 200.   He took his experience on the trail and then interviewed 100 leaders (CEOs, CXOs, CIOs, CHROs, CFOs, founders, and ultra-distance athletes) to see how they take really big ideas across the finish line. He then penned the book, EPIC Performance. It was great to visit with Bryan again after reading his book EPIC Performance. We not only talked about his book, but we caught up on the latest big things he and his family have done and have planned!

After years of fighting sciatic nerve pain, Meghan began to search for the reason behind it and a natural way to fix the problem.  She’s now pain-free and has become a Functional Movement & Ultrarunning Coach.  She’s run all the distances pain-free including the Tahoe 200 last year.  Meghan is also a podcast host of the “She Runs Ultras” podcast.  Right now she’s been focusing on helping women run their first 50K.  Her goal is to help 10,000 women run their first 50K in the next 5 years and she’s developed a program dedicated to that purpose.

Oh man...what a great visit with my friend Chris Baldwin. Chris is well known in Arkansas due to his involvement in running, volunteering, and co-directing races in the state. He and his friend Ronnie are well known for their training and aid station shenanigans. Chris and I both ran the Tahoe 200 in 2018 and we take some time to compare our experiences and laugh a lot about the videos on the internet of his delirium! Chris also gives us an update on his recovery from a fall last year that took him out of the Moab 240 due to a broken hip and wrist. (Hint: He'll be running Umstead 100 when this is released!) Other topics - Arkansas Trail Running Community, The LOViT 100, Arkansas Traveller, and the film that everyone training for Traveller should (not) watch!
