“I take BEC in three weeks and need help comprehending the application of the CPA Exam concepts. I recently took BEC and scored 62. I did well in the Economics portion but struggled with Internal Control, COSO principles, Financial management, and IT. Is there a way to better comprehend the material? I am going through the notes, and sometimes it makes sense, then sometimes, I have no idea what the question is asking. Currently, I have Roger CPA Review and Ninja. I did all of the modules for Roger CPA. I review my notes for each section, but I am just memorizing information, not comprehending it. I am getting started with NINJA, and I wish the notes and lectures fit better with the MCQs. Some MCQ topics aren’t heavily covered in the lectures and are sometimes very lightly touched on in the notes.”

“I am looking for a CPA study plan where I can utilize Roger CPA Review and Ninja together. What is the best way to combine UWorld Roger CPA and Ninja? Some of the sections in Roger CPA Review don’t line up with Ninja. I am reading the Ninja book first, then reading the Roger book and taking notes if things need to be clarified and better explained in either book. I am then reading the Ninja notes. The Ninja notes help me understand what I read from Ninja, but the sections are different in Roger. Is there a more efficient method that I should use with both CPA Review programs to maximize my study sessions?”

“I’ve passed Auditing and Regulation and take my FAR CPA Exam in two weeks, and I am still figuring out where to focus. I’m two weeks from my exam, and I’ve not made any monumental progress since my last sitting for FAR. The issue is my reg exam expires on the 12th. The current methodology is to rep out as many mcqs as possible in a 1-1:30 hr time frame and subsequently take 30 mins to review the questions I’ve missed. I have been reviewing sims on the weekends when I have more time.”

“I am looking for the best way to use both Surgent CPA Review and Ninja to pass the AUD exam on short notice. I took the exam two weeks ago and failed with a 68. I had a Surgent CPA Review ReadyScore of 61. Surgent CPA recommends a Ready Score of 80 or higher. I am doing multiple choice questions, lectures, and audio lectures from Ninja CPA during work hours and currently working 50 hours per week in a CPA firm performing tax and accounting work during busy season. I have three children at home, so time can be challenging to come by. I am new to NINJA CPA, but I am enjoying the platform so far.”

How to Stop Second-Guessing Yourself on Practice CPA Exam Questions

“Alright, Jeff, how do I keep myself from second-guessing every MCQ answer? This is my second go-around (my first try was seven years ago before life got in the way)…. and I had this issue then too. Whenever I do an MCQ, I find the answer and second guess myself on practice CPA Exam questions, and 75% of the time, I was initially correct. I tell myself not to second guess, but I still do. Are NINJA MCQ harder than AICPA CPA Exam questions?

Nate writes in: “This is my second time taking auditing, so I have already gone through my Becker CPA Review material. I have read the notes for NINJA a few times but have not been improving in my MCQ performance (around 70% every session). I have read that the questions are harder than AICPA questions and that I may be struggling because I needed to study all the material from NINJA, which the questions are based on. July 2022 CPA Exam changesErin (DOJO) Currently I am hammering out MCQs. I did poorly on the SIMS but did not feel like any of the practice SIMS I did with (CPA Review course) set me up to succeed. Of the four sections in the audit exam, I tend to do better on parts 1 and 4. Part 2 and 3 I will try to buckle down some more. It is a hit or miss for me. (NINJA Only, Becker + NINJA, Gleim + NINJA) Thuy (DOJO) I would like to know if I can listen to the Ninja audio while working, without having reading the book or the notes. For the intense note-taking while reading the book or listening to the audio, instead of taking my own notes, can I just rewrite the Ninja notes? (Becker + NINJA) Francis (DOJO) Are there SIMS/TBS for the AUD section? (Becker + NINJA) Matthew (DOJO) I just got my score report and got a 74 and I need to pass audit soon was wondering if you could help me. Starting things off with Krishma. Jeff, I'm studying for my third FAR attempt. My previous scores were 70 and 68. I'm planning to take my exam three weeks from now. Please tell me how I should start and what I should focus on. If your exam is three weeks from now and you're just starting and you're just starting FAR, unless you are studying full time, then you really need to probably push it back.

But let's assume that you had a full. Plan. So with the 70 and 68, you're getting there, but there's a significant hole in your steady game. And so essentially you need to follow the NINJA study framework. Just forget this avenue, forget this 68, just mentally start over and just go through the FAR material.

Nailed the FAR concepts and take notes while you're doing it. So it doesn't say what course you're using. Presumably NINJA. But the concepts either with your NINJA book or NINJA sparring and lectures start expiring lectures or the lectures for whatever CPA Review course you're using. If you prefer that, then switch over to NINJA and take notes the entire time that switch over to NINJA MCQ and spend about two weeks on that.

So you spend about two weeks on the concepts about two weeks, and then MCQ. Take notes over at all. Then you spend about a week writing your notes and then a week doing your final review. I started the becker CPA review last June and have put off taking far 3 times. When I tried doing everything becker said, it took me a month to get through 1 or 2 modules (yes, that's modules, not chapters). They said to write down every question I got wrong. That took forever. I also had sleep problems during the first 6 months of studying which really messed up my ability to study. I am so stressed out and confused as to how to digest the vast amount of information and retain it. I have a new job that starts soon and I really want to have at least one CPA exam under my belt so I can start my new job with confidence.
I am really struggling with passing the CPA exams and I am not sure what I should do to pass these exams. I started the exam process in November 2020 and have taken AUD, REG, and BEC thus far. I have failed AUD, REG, and BEC with scores of 43, 64, and 71, respectively. I do not know what to do anymore. I hammer MCQs and listen to your audio notes five times. For BEC, I read the entire book. I also started to do that with FAR, but I felt that I was not absorbing the information as well as I do with listening to your notes. Am I doing something wrong? I have taken BEC 4 times….. 68, 70, 71, 73. I am starting to get a bit stressed about it. I never did this poorly in college. I think I need to focus more and maybe just start the study process over for this exam. I do not want to have to retake AUD. That exam expires on 6/30/2022. I still have BEC, FAR, REG to complete. I am now going to commit more time to this as it is a priority for me. But I am considering switching to FAR, putting in the work, and taking it next. Justin (NINJA Only) - Hey Jeff, after failing audit 3 times(70,71,72). I stepped away and focused on BEC. I passed BEC earlier this month and am now re-visiting Audit. I'm only through about 250 MCQs but I've been successfully getting 70% or higher right on each group of 30. I have REG expiring in March 2022 with FAR still yet to take. My initial plan was to give myself 5-6 weeks to study and take Audit at the end of September. However, with the immediate success I've been having with Audit, I'm considering pushing it up to mid-September. Would that be smart or should I stick with my current plan and aim for the end of Sept exam? Not sure if I'm getting lucky or if I actually retained this much Audit material from prior.

The same method for REG and scored 78. I took BEC and I scored a 71. Do you have any tips? As a side note, I go through all the Becker material first then I do all NINJA questions 3-4 weeks before the exam and listen to the audio every morning. I take notes while studying both and review them. Crystal - Hi Jeff, I need your wisdom. I received my BEC score - 74. From a strategic perspective, should I retake BEC or take FAR next? I just resubscribed to NINJA after failing the FAR section for my 5th time on June 29th with a 67 (My other scores were 59 [12/28/20, I used NINJA before my 2nd attempt and then got a 68 [2/11/21], 52 [3/23], and 70 [Originally scheduled for 5/14, but halfway through taking my exam, the entire testing center crashed and had to retake it on 6/4]). Your reg notes say NOL for 2018 and beyond are limited to 80% taxable income and carried forward indefinitely. I believe this is wrong. Because of the cares act, this changed to 2018-2020, has no limit on taxable income, and can be carried back five and forward indefinitely. Then beginning 2021, it has the 80% limit and is carried forward indefinitely. Am I correct?- Josh

Renee - I need some motivation. I failed BEC 5 times. My last score was 73. The first 2 times I took it, I didn’t study enough. But the last three times (71, 64, 73) I really tried. Any suggestions? I lost Reg, passed it again in March. I passed Far and am about to lose AUD.

Luke - I hope all is well during these difficult times.I just had a question/clarification regarding the Ninja 2020 FAR Simulations List. How exactly was this list made? Are these just the SIMs that have the highest chances of showing up on the FAR exam?

I scored a 65 on my last FAR exam and tried to think of things I need to fix or do differently this time around and I didn't focus much on SIMs the first time around besides watching Becker Skill Master Videos for the SIMs.

So I figured this time around studying I'd supplement with Ninja & allocate more time to practicing SIMs (even though I am still iffy on the time I spend for SIM Studying as we know it is luck of the draw for SIMs you get on Exam and studying for SIMs take up a lot of time).

I plan to use Ninja MCQ last 2 weeks before my CPA Exam. Currently doing Becker MCQ/SIMs/Notes along with Ninja notes. Also, any feedback or advice you have on approaching the FAR retake is appreciated! I am struggling to find confidence in the approach and schedule I have now.

Brenda - Due to this coronavirus I have been unable to do anything for over two week and I had been studying relentlessly since November 2019. Do you have a suggestion to help me get back into so I don’t lose all of the ground I made? My daughter is home and with all the bad news I can’t get back on track.

Odalys - I just want to ask you something. I recently got my score and sadly I failed. The thing is, that was my second try for BEC. The first time I score 63 and my report says I got weaker on the three areas (mcqs, simulations and written communication). This time I got 59 and my report says I got comparable on mcqs and written communication. I cannot understand how I scored less with better performance. I feel so discouraged about it.

Nick - This Coronavius pandemic is totally screwing up my rhythm, I recently took FAR (my last CPA exam) and got a 72. Smart Enough to Pass - Another71 CPA Exam Podcast #91

Jeff, I'm at a breaking point. I failed 6 exams so far, I'm really busting my butt studying and putting in a lot of time and effort. I need some help because I don't know what to do. I signed up for Ninja monthly and I'll be honest, I've studied my hardest following your ELL program, but still, my studying has not translated. I have friends who passed this entire exam in 6 months and studying not nearly as much as I am. Please help me out. Thanks.-Can you walk me through your NINJA study materials as I am new to it?-I have noticed that a lot of the sample questions want an answer as to what a certain ASU topic covers - are we really supposed to remember ASU topics!!?? If so, is there some sort of a list that can be studied? Also - when are you going to do another podcast?-Hi Jeff, do I need to read the AUD book as a whole? It has a lot of pages or reading just AUD notes would be okay? My exam is in May 2019. Please advise.-Could there be a problem when I check in on the exam date if, on my Notice to Schedule, my name is: "First Name, Last Name", but on my Driver Licence is "Last Name, First Name"?-I am planning on getting married and changing my name soon. Do you happen to know the process of changing your name through NASBA and all of that? My master's transcripts will also say my maiden name. When you study for an exam, was there a specific or target number of multiple choice questions that you completed per day? I'm looking for a specific number if you have one. I currently set up blocks of questions by section. There are four blocks. Each block contains six sections in various orders. I selected my block order based on which sections I am strongest in and which sections I need to strengthen my proficiency. Based on the book, based on the block I shared, you can see that regulation sections two and six are my weaker sections. I would love your thoughts on my current process to get through multiple-choice questions and any general feedback to base my questions on and how many questions I should complete each night. Okay. So, I don't have a set number of multiple choice questions that you should do per day; however, the AICPA has said that the average CPA candidate spends two minutes per question on the exam. So that's under exam conditions, and that's when you are ready to roll on exam day, so. If it takes you two minutes to do a question per, or on exam day, then let's say it's going to take you maybe three, three and a half, four minutes per section, per question while you study, because you're taking notes, you're looking up for each answer explanation, and so, so, if you can do three minutes per question, that is 20 questions per hour, if you study three to four hours per day, so that's, like, 60 to 80 questions per day. So, while you're in the MCQ phase, you're spending two to two and a half weeks on your nonstop MCQ, you can pretty much budget what you're going to do there. So let's say any given section has 1,500 multiple choice questions. Well, you can do the math there. You should be doing, so I guess you should be doing 60 questions per day minimum, but I know some people do a lot. So we used to have the NINJA Weekend Challenge where people would do like 500 questions in a weekend. So that's over like two days. So you can do a lot more than 60. But, so, 60 questions, 60 CPA exam questions per day should be your minimum. Ninja Claude writes in, I have exactly 30 days left before I take FAR, my first section, and my studying is somewhat improving, and I'm feeling a little better. But I have a question about the exam itself. Is it true that they want a certain number of people to pass each time it is administered so they might actually curve the scores down if too many people do well? I really wanna get through this thing my first try, and any further nuggets or tidbits would be appreciated, especially the ones that would stop me from getting something like a 74. Okay, is the CPA exam curved? I don't know. That's been one of those conspiracy theories that have been around for as long as I have been in exam land, which is over 10 years, so. You know, when you look at the pass rates, they are like, for FAR, they're about 45, 47, 49%, pretty much every time. Does the AICPA curve them through the psychometric formulas? I don't know. Does that impact how you study? Not at all, and if you fail, does that give you license to blame the fact that you've been curved down? No, because in any given exam section, 50% pass, 50% fail, give or take, and you just need to study really hard,

I wanted to seek advice on how to use the NINJA system along with Becker to greatly improve my potential pass rate. I have invested countless amounts of time and energy into the CPA exam and I would like nothing more than to complete FAR this year. Parth - Thanks for the videos! I am interested in subscribing to NINJA for the monthly. But, before I do, I wanted to ask you something. I am currently taking my review courses with Becker. I have been studying for FAR and should be done with the material by next week. I mainly want to use Ninja as more of a supplemental option to review what I have learned so far. How do you think Ninja can help me with that? I read the study planning strategy, but I don't know how that would apply to me because I have already gone through much of the material with Becker. If you could please give me some guidance when you get a chance, I would appreciate that. Thanks! Oren - I took Audit in May, and I don't think I did well. My score with REG is expiring on July 21st. I just found out that I will not receive the AUD score until August 16th! If I do not pass, I won't be able to take Audit again before REG expires. Will they extend my REG score? Thanks for your insight. Nelly - Is the NINJA Audio the same as NINJA Notes? I'm am taking audit in 6 days, I have the notes but I am deciding whether or not to purchase the audio. Is it the same as the notes but spoken out loud? Amanda - Do you have any insight on the new format of the FAR sims -- three different sections rather than just one? I am worried about not knowing the entire picture of the sims and spending too much time on the first one or two sets only to get to the last set and run out of time. CPA Exam Study Motivation with August 2017 CPA Exam Score Release - CPA Reviewed #79

Holi - I am a recent college graduate going to work for a Big Four Accounting Firm in the fall. Because I have some time before then, I budgeted four months to take all four sections of the CPA. I started with the beast, and I studied for FAR. I really put in the time and took the exam last week. But I cannot shake the feeling that I failed and it's weighing heavily on me. Because of the new exam format and changes, however, my score is being held for 10 weeks -- until mid-August. By then, I would have hopefully taken all four sections without knowing any of my scores. This is a terrible feeling because I am starting to become unmotivated without knowing if I am tracking score wise. And worse case I fail, I would have to restudy old material instead of it being fresh in my mind. How do I stay motivated not knowing any scores? Should I take FAR again before I get my CPA Exam score back in Aug just because I think I failed -- and while it's still fresh in my mind? (What about the financial burden?) Ed - I graduated college in 2006, took the summer off and then started studying. I took all 4 parts and failed. Then I took auditing and FAR and passed. I could not pass BEC and Reg before losing credit. Two years had gone by and I gave up. Now I am looking to get back into the studying and passing the exam. For the four sections of the test, what order should I take them? Priscilla - I am currently studying for REG using Roger CPA Review and I am a divorced/single mother with a 5yr old Princess. However, I am currently NOT working so I can completely focus on my CPA Exam. I am sitting for REG on May 30th, 2017 and I am currently on Section 5 Estates, Trusts & Gift Taxes out of 21 Sections. How should I tackle the rest of my studying? I am nervous and believe it's way too much material to cover by May 30th, should I reschedule REG for July 2017? (I graduated with my Accounting degree in 2008 and will be doing my MAcc once I am done studying for my CPA Exam). Hany - I have a question for AUD. When an external auditor use the work of internal auditor. To whom does an internal auditor should report ? Frank - Probably I'm not your typical CPA exam candidate. I'm in my late 30s I have a senior corporate finance position and have been a finance director in several countries. I have decided to take the CPA and in the past 4 months, I was able to pass AUD and BEC. Currently, my time is flexible and sometimes I can study during the day. I have been offered a senior position as a regional FD for an international market. Likely this opportunity will disrupt my studies. What would be your advice, take the new role or pass the 2 exams and then see what happens job wise? My AUD credit will expire in August 2018. Daniel - I have 14 days to study for audit, unfortunately, kept delaying the exam due to work (internship), I am now free from work. Is it double to finish audit in 14, I have bought the ninja notes and was wondering if I should even watch the Becker videos or just do ninja notes and Becker MCQ. Tracy - I am scheduled to take Reg on July 3rd, all CPA reviews say that first have of year tax is from 2016 info and second half is for 2017 year. So here I am thinking I am going to have to restudy in 3 days these changes! How familiar are you of this transition in the past with candidates along your journey? I know it shouldn't be major changes- mostly thresholds and stuff. however this is the CPA and I walked out of BEC thinking it was easy only to open the score to see a 75. So you can understand my concern :) Also..... with these changes when will you be updating Ninja Notes (if you say July 1, I may cry:)) I hope to do a re-write about 2 weeks before and think it would be awesome if updates are released before to get familiar with the different but similar material. Rich – Jeff - I have purchased the NINJA notes for FAR and I have Wiley CPAexcel. Should I watch the videos? Should I read the book and then do the questions? Should I just rewrite your notes and not use CPAexcel?
Terry – Hi Jeff - Unfortunately, I just got my score back yesterday on BEC and I failed with a 68. It doesn't make much sense to me because I failed BEC back in November with a 73.I could probably recite the formulas and mnemonics to you. In school I was always a good test taker, I just can't seem to pass these exams. What are your suggestions?
Dshankar – Hello Jeff - I am writing to you for my wife. She just got her REG score and she got a 74, again! Its like her 10th 74 in a CPA exam. She has been studying since 2012. Both of us are mentally exhausted as we started studying together and I was done in 2013. She still so far from it and she always does her best. She’s always prepared well with high scores in all the mock tests before the exam. However, she always ends up with a score in ranging from 71-74. What are we doing wrong? She’s reached a breaking point and it’s also very expensive for us as we are international students from India. What are we doing wrong?

Alejandra - Is it doable to study REG in 5 weeks and AUD in 4 weeks? I work full time but I could use 2 week vacation to study for these exams.
Robby - The first time I took AUD, I made a 73. I took a little break from studying and then returned when I felt mentally ready. I got frustrated using my expensive CPA Review Course (for a number of reasons). I decided to use Ninja notes only for my retake and I passed with a 78. How reasonable in your opinion is it for me to simply pass the rest of my exams with only NINJA Notes.
Kimberly - I passed these tests in 2009, but never filed for the license. Can I still do that, or do the test results expire?
Jon - Quick questions regarding my NTS and testing window. I am scheduled to take REG exam in NJ the day my NTS expires. I would like to take the exam in mid to late February. Are there any restrictions on reapplying for a new NTS and sitting for the exam during the same testing window, as long as I don't sit for the REG exam on January 13th? My three exams expire in March so I will have to take the exam in February. I also spoke with a rep from NASBA who said this should be fine, but I would like a second opinion.
Derek - I have never posted before but I have to see what I did wrong…I have been studying for BEC from December 9th to January 6th for an exam day of January 7th. I felt pretty comfortable for the exam. I have done nothing but study during my break. I reviewed all the lectures, have done all the homework problems, re-did the homework problems for all the sections during my review stage, and completed both of the final exams Becker had to offer. When it came to the test day, I don’t know where these questions came from. There were very few questions that I know I got right and had to use my judgement on many of the questions. They were nothing compared to the questions I seen on Becker and it seemed like so much of the information I learned wasn’t even applicable to the exam. I don’t know what to think. Maybe it was a overall concept issue I was lacking. I know I put the time into studying but maybe took it the wrong way. Please respond if you have any helpful guidance.
Marlene - Hello, I am really concerned because I am enrolled in the Becker BEC fast pass. I began studying before the course and was able to cover until chapter 3. I have done my own notes and attempted to memorize them and did the homework once and I don't feel pleased with the results. I have been in chapter 4 doing the notes for 3 days already and my exam is in 12 days. What should I do? This the first time taking any CPA exam section.
Shawon - I'm planning to sit for FAR in May (will graduate in May). I only have one class left to graduate. So, I'm studying FAR now. I know that exam is changing and I haven't seen any update from you yet on that. I've watched few videos from your YouTube channel, there you've emphasized on MCQ heavily, since MCQs worth 60% of the grade. But what about now? They're making it 50/50 now. Please give me your advice how to tackle it now.
John - What is the best way to review the DRS Simulations for audit? They are unrealistic to the real world since you don't have 15 minutes to complete something in practice and I had trouble with it on my last failed exam.
Colby - I recently took Audit and ended up scoring a 51. I used Becker and your Audio book. I knew I wasn't ready but did not think I was that far away from the mark. I thought I'd e-mail you for advice. It's really tempting to just walk away - I feel so far from the mark. The night before I didn't sleep a wink and then finished the test an hour early. This was the first exam I'd ever taken. I think the take away would be that I need to revamp my studying, make sure to get some sleep and use that extra hour in a useful way (checking myself). I'd love your thoughts.

Ryan- I have been taking the CPA Exam off and on for about 7 years now and have used multiple cpa review courses. I am getting 65 to 70 every single time. I am beginning to become discouraged and thinking of throwing in the towel. However, I have a new baby and this has given me motivation to FINALLY get this exam behind me. Do you have any tips for me?

Tim- So I just got my AUD scores back last night, and I got a 74 after studying my butt off the past 2 months. What else can I do to help me get over the 75 mark to pass?

Tammy– I am not the one who is taking the CPA exam, my boyfriend is. Since he is too depressed right now to ask for help, I guess I will be the one to seek help. He has been very hard working over the past two years but for some reason still hasn't managed to pass BEC. So far he has taken it 4 times- 63, 72, 68, and 73 as of today.

He has been using a review course along side NINJA MCQ and has being scoring pretty well and trending in the high 80% for ninja. Before the exam date, he would be doing 100 mcq & studying about 4 hrs on a daily basis and on weekends he would devote up to 6 hours. I feel like he has been doing everything he possibly can be doing but it's just not reflecting on his test score.

We are both frustrated… I am sure he is more upset than anyone else. He doesn't know what else he could have done differently for his 5th BEC exam. Anything would help.

Rob - Hi, I am scheduled to take the REG exam in the beginning of July and I am interested in purchasing NINJA material. However, it looks like the NINJA material for REG is for tax law that is tested until 6/30/15. Does this mean that NINJA materials purchased now would not encompass subject matter that will appear July 2015 and going forward?

Evan - Hi Jeff, when will the REG Ninja MCQs and Blitz be updated for the July exam? I'm guessing they aren't updates yet because people are still studying for the current test window. Great site/products and thanks a lot.

Rana - Can you please also give me advice on how I can pass this section? I've taken it 3 times so far. The first time I didn't study too well and got a 57. Second time got a 67 with MCQ weaker and Sims comparable. Third time got a 70 with MCQ comparable and Sims weaker. This time around i got comparable or stronger in all of my mcq subjects except Law, which was weaker. Any advice to give myself a push to get to that 75?
Y - My doubt is about the Ninja Framework. I don't know if I understand it correctly. What I understand of it is that I must see ALL the videos, but do I take notes while watching it? or Should I watch them all and then take notes with the book? I'm trying to be time efficient so thanks for your time!
Chelle - Hi Jeff, What advise would you give to me who has been out of school for over 15 years? I have a bachelors degree in Accounting earned 15 years ago. I'm a mom with a 5 year old and a 13 year old. I currently work full time with a group of CPA's and my managers encourage me to pursue the exam. Where do I begin? Do I take refresher college courses or can I just study the CPA reviews right away? I recently ordered for my transcripts and will send to the board of accountancy so they can let me know - what other courses I need to take to qualify to sit for the exam. Help!
Myranda - I came across your site/products while trying to figure out which CPA study materials I would like to purchase. I downloaded and reviewed the sample products that you have available on your site and like what I see. I also read through the CPA Exam Survival Guide, which I found to be quite helpful. However, I am still stumped as to how to approach studying/purchasing materials. I actually like the NINJA model that you have developed. But I am still slightly confused. So my questions are a follows:

1) Should I or do I need to purchase a separate program in addition to the NINJA program?

2) Do I need to purchase just videos from another company and then supplement with NINJA products?

3) In the CPA Exam Survival Guide it mentioned to "1. Nail the videos"...is this referring to the NINJA audio files? Or by purchasing other set of videos?

It has been 15 years since I was in school. What is your opinion on the most effective way get up to speed on the new exam content, requisites and review methods? Michael - I'm having a hard time finding someone to verify my work experience as required by my state. I had a disagreement with my old boss and now I'm working on my own and can't find anyone to verify my work experience. The state requires that a CPA, from any state, verify that I worked for 1 year in public accounting, which I have been doing. What should I do? Greg - As I watch lecture videos and take notes, how detailed should my notes be? Does it make a difference if I type or handwrite the notes? How do I incorporate my lecture videos, the text, and NINJA Notes? Andrew - I have failed REG twice, but raised my score ten points (to a 74) after buying the Ten Point Combo. Would you suggest watching the review course videos again and taking notes, or re-writing the NINJA notes while listening to the NINJA audio? I still plan to hit the MCQs either way. Christina - Does the AICPA grade you on the number of MCQ questions you answered or the total MCQ questions in the test? Matt - I have the updated Ten Point Combo for AUD. Do you think the combo will be enough to supplement my studies without having to buy another book? Or do I need to purchase updated videos for the Clarity Project?

Ryan - On exam simulations, can you earn partial credit? For example if you are working an income statement and don't present something net of tax, do they only look at the net income number or do they look line by line to see if you did each part correctly?

Cedric - In the NINJA method, a what point do you stop doing non-stop MCQs and move on to rewriting the NINJA Notes? My concern is that I may use up too much time working questions and not leave enough time for the rewrite.

George - I just got my score for FAR, and it's 77. How do you keep the knowledge for a passed section if you don't do that type of work?

Cristy - For the multiple choice portion of the FAR, approximately what percentage of MCQs are actual problems that have to be worked?

Laura - In your experience, how much of an impact will the new audit material have on the exam?

Mariela - I'm planning to take FAR at the end of August. Do you have any recommendations to supplement my studying? I'm getting the 10 point combo lite, but I don't know if I should also get a book. I have an old review book from 2011, but I don't know if many changes have already taken place. Also, are there any changes to FAR starting Q3?

Sam - I work for a Big 4 Firm. Do you know whether passing my CPA exam on my anniversary date is considered passing within one year (eligible for $5,000)?

Jen - What is your advice for a career-changing adult who has no accounting experience, but is hoping to find a job after passing the exam?

Jess - If I am a licensed CPA in one state, can I refer to myself as a CPA in another state, where I am not licensed?

Snehal - I am studying Audit. I failed twice with scores of 66 and 70. I know most of the questions and answers from Wiley. What is the best way to study for Audit?

Johnny - Do you think it's necessary to refrain from social media while studying for the CPA exam? I check Twitter a lot throughout day and follow several blogs. I know you've said it takes sacrifice to be able to get through studying. Would you say that sacrifice also applies to Twitter and the news and blogs?

Roberto - I am taking BEC in a month for the third time. The first time, I studied half of my book and scored a 65. The second time, I watched all the videos got a 50. Do you have any suggestions for me? Will the NINJA system work for me?

Rob - What is the most efficient and effective strategy for studying for the governmental and nonprofit accounting section for FAR? I'm going through this stuff and I'm hitting a brick wall because my mind is numb. Do you have an accelerated way of moving through this stuff?

Sylvia - I have recently taken the Auditing exam. I felt like the first testlet was straightforward, the second progressively harder, and the third much harder than the second. Is that a good sign? Do you know how MCQs are graded?

Mykel - I have failed FAR and AUD, and Im lost on what to do next. Before each exam, I was averaging at least 75 on the Wiley MCQs, but I come up short on the actual exam. What should I do?

Kevin - I graduated in 2009, and now Im ready to study for the CPA Exam, but I dont know where to start. I dont want to spend a lot of money on a review course unless I have a solid plan. My current job is unrelated to accounting, so I may need a refresher on some of the concepts. What do you recommend I do?

Rebecca - I am a student in an MS Accounting program, and Im only 12 hours away from the 150 hour threshold required to sit for the CPA Exam. But I lack the work experience requirement for licensure. I am thinking about quitting the MS program after I complete the twelve hours I need and studying for the exam instead. Is this a good idea? Or should I complete the masters program first?

Eric - Can you please explain how the 18 month rule works? How do I know when my credit will expire?

Brandon - In your opinion, how important are the performance measures included on each score report?

Spencer - For the simulation portion of the REG exam, will I be graded against others who had my SIMs or against the aggregate population of CPA candidates in general?

I was looking over the framework and for the "note taking" section, I saw that it suggests taking good notes from whatever video course one may have. However, all I have are the Wiley books and testbank along with the ninja audio. Is it necessary to purchase a video course? So far I've been reading and taking notes from the Wiley texts; however I feel the organization in the books isn't the best. Do you suggest using the wiley texts and taking notes while reading through them? also, I tried your suggestion of taking a ton of mcqs before reg, but came out of the exam feeling more demoralized than ever - I'm guessing that's normal? Keith - Before tackling FAR and AUD, what is the least demanding section that I can take in May and only use MCQs and NINJA

Nathan - Im trying to figure out a schedule for AUD and BEC. Can I prepare for AUD in four weeks, or is it better to plan for eight? Do you think BEC can be done in three to four weeks, or should I plan for longer?

Alex - I will be taking Audit for the third time on April 27th after scoring a 70 and 69. I could swear I passed the test after I took it the second time as I thought I really knew the material well. What can I do differently this time to make sure I pass? I have a video course as well as the Wiley test bank.

Jacade - I'm now approaching the Non-Stop MCQs step for the NINJA method and was wondering what is the most ideal way to tackle this. Is it best to methodically do 20-30 MCQs for each main study topic until results are constant and then move to the next topic? Or would a better method be doing 20-30 random MCQs from all of FAR until I see I have completed a large number of questions (~1,000)?

Elaine - My question relates to work experience. Do firms usually sign off the experience requirement after only one year as required by the state? Or do they require you to be there two years or even longer?

Sarah - If you graduated with a BBA in econ, but went back to school for an accounting certificate and hypothetically passed all 4 parts of your CPA Exam, would it be easy for you to land a job in order for you to acquire the one year experience?

Cedric - After taking a section, do you recommend spending 3 weeks or so waiting for your score to see whether or not you will need re-take that section or taking a short break and begin studying for your next section?

Sheila - I passed the CPA Exam back in 1992, and find myself in the position of needing to pass it again. Its a long story. What products would you suggest for me?

Christen - I have failed Audit five times but passed every other section. I have NO idea what I am doing wrong. I have the NINJA Notes, Audio, and Wiley test bank, as well as two lecture courses. What advice do you have?

Dolly - I am a full time accountant working 40-70 hours a week with no time on weekends to study. I have failed BEC three times, AUD once, and REG once. I am highly discouraged and dont know where to go from here. What should I do?

Alex - I was just wondering if you had any specific info on how BEC written communication tasks were graded. If I get a written task about an unfamiliar topic that I don't know a whole lot about, should I only talk about what I'm sure is correct/accurate (even if that is very little)? Or, should I try to give a longer answer and throw a little "BS" in there as long as it sounds plausible?

Kim - I am studying Audit right now. I read your post that you mostly memorize information to pass this section. Is that the best way to approach Audit?

Jeremy - I made a 57 on AUD the first time I took it, so I started from scratch and went through all my videos again. Then I scored a 71. Do I need to go through all the materials again? What suggestions do you have for my next attempt?

Ron - I scored a 44 on REG the first time and a 52 the second time I took it. Should I stick with REG or change it up and try BEC? Im really frustrated right now.

Joel - I just received my first payment coupon to take the exam in Virginia. I may be moving to Pennsylvania in the next couple of months for a job that requests me to have progress toward the CPA. Should I continue with the exam in VA even if I get the job and move, or should I just switch everything over to PA?

Rana - Jeff, I am having the hardest time passing FAR. I just took it for the 3rd time. I have made a 43, 65, and now a 53. I am so discouraged. I have thought about moving on to a different part and then coming back to FAR. Any suggestions?

Norma - I have 2012 study material from my video course and Wiley and the 2013 NINJA Notes. I am planning to take all four parts this year. Do you think I can get away with using the 2012 videos and Wiley material, vs. purchasing 2013 material?

Brian - I didn't do all that great on REG. I think the problem I had was reading the chapters too much and not working the questions enough. I feel like I learn better reading cram notes than reading from the text. Have you seen any other student study in this manor and succeed?

Hershey - I am preparing for FAR and planning to sit for the test in May. But now I am thinking that I should instead sit for Audit since it is going to change in July. What do you think?

Shauna - Is there a complete IRC database online similar to the one in the exam software (other than the one available in the AICPA sample test program)?

Adam - I studied my butt off for Audit using a video course and the Wiley test bank. I came out of the exam feeling like I got every question correct. I could not have felt more confident on the exam and the material. I got my score and ended up with a 71. I'm in complete and utter shock at my grade. Have you heard of this before? I feel like my exam was switched with someone else's.

Sylli - I need to send my resume to one of the Big 4 firms, but I havent started taking the exam yet. Should I put the name of my review course in my resume?

Yim - I'm taking the exam in 2013 and interested in the NINJA Notes to study along with my 2010 review course material; however, I think there were lots of updates and changes since then. Do you think it is worth my money to purchase 2013 material from my review course?

Elizabeth - The tragedy of the hurricane aside, the extension of the testing window presents me with a dilemma. Currently I am scheduled for November 29th. Should I take advantage of the extension and push my test back over another weekend or just buck up assume I am not going to increase my score by studying one more week and keep my exam on the 29th of November?

Zubin - I graduated a year ago with a BS in accounting and have been working for a small startup for the past year. My career goal is to work for a CPA firm (big 4,regional, or local small firms). Do you think I should continue my work and pass the cpa exam and apply to firms after completion of all parts? Or should I go back to school for a Masters in Accounting and get another shot in the recruiting process?

Ricky - I recently graduated and I have been having trouble finding a job due to what most accounting firms consider a low GPA. I would imagine it would be easier if I had some experience but it is hard to get experience when I cannot get a job in first place. Caitlin - Financial is the last exam I need to pass. I have taken it 3 times now and have failed with a 68,66,66. I know the material. I honestly have no idea what to do differently. I bought new material and your notes and flashcards. I have one more chance to take Financial in July/August before I lose credit for audit. Do you have any advice at all?

Chris - Im taking FAR. I have completed all of the lectures and some of the assigned MCQs from my CPA Review course. I was wondering if you had any advice in terms what to focus on. My strategy from this point is to just do as many MCQs as I can. I also have a cram course which I will probably do in early April as tax season dies down.

Emily - I sat for FAR exam and failed, but I did add 9 points to my score by following your ELL system and writing and rewriting my notes. I feel that I now have my review material memorized. I made a 68 on the exam and thought that the simulations were what killed my grade. I am thinking about just doing all of the Wiley test bank questions and simulations. I will only watch the videos if I have a trouble area. Do you think this is the best way to proceed?

John - I have been trying to pass the CPA exam for over 2 years with little success. I am considering trying a new CPA review course to hopefully get me over the hump. What are your recommendations on how to pick a review course?

Kendall - I failed FAR by one point! I studied using 2011 CPA Study materials but now it's 2012. Sarah - When are you going to have BEC NINJA Audio ready?

Ali - I received a 74 on Audit and would appreciate it if you could give me some suggestions on getting my exam re-evaluated as I am considering this as an option. Have seen any results in the past that the AICPA has changed scores after re-evaluation of the exam?

Jeff - I've invested a lot of time and energy into passing and my wife and daughter have shared the sacrifices along the way. Now that I've passed, I was initially elated and now I feel somehow depressed or something. Suddenly I don't know what to do with my time, I don't know what to feel, I don't know what to think, and it is like I can't connect with the reality that I have really passed. This should be one of the happiest moments of my life! Any advice?

Said - My dearly-held BEC credit is going to expire on May 31, and I dont know whether I have to pass or to sit for my last section before that date. My second question is about your NINJA notes. How can I integrate them into my CPA review course and also with online WILEY test bank you offer.

AP - I heard there will be a lot of changes for 2012. Any suggestions on some final review/cram courses?

Allison - I took my most recent AUD exam February 13. I am a full-time tax accountant and right in the middle of tax season. However, I am considering taking audit again around April 23 so that it is still fresh on my mind. I am ready to change my study material. What would you suggest I use to help me get those last 5 points that I am so desperately wanting? Nikeya - I wanted to know how long should I give myself to prepare for one part of the exam? I am currently studying for the CFE and will be taking it the end of March. I would like to sit for REG in July. Is that enough time? I took it last year in April and failed.

Tim - I have taken BEC twice and scored 67 and 73; however, I have scheduled REG, and I have to take it by the end of May. I would like to take BEC the first week of April. I haven't started REG yet. Ronda - I have a B.S. in accouting that I earned many, many years ago. I dropped out of the workplace to raise my family. Bob: If the SEC hasnt approved IFRS, why is it on the CPA Exam?

Maritza: I am struggling with BEC. I have taken it four times and failed, but I have passed every other section. My first credit expires in August 2012. I plan on taking BEC again in the January/February 2012 testing window. Im not sure my review course is doing enough to prepare me for BEC.Can you please give me some guidance for BEC? Do you think I should I purchase a different review course? Can you recommend which one to purchase? Thank you very much for your input.

Laurie: I started studying for the exam earlier this year using a combination of a review course and your NINJA Notes (love them by the way). I have passed FAR and AUD. My original plan was to study for REG next.I just looked and discovered that my review course has not yet released the 2012 study materials. Would studying with 2011 materials hurt me? Would it be better to take BEC next?

Jason: Ive heard you mention that the actual CPA exam at the testing center is a little easier in level of difficulty than the test bank software questions. Did I understand you correctly? Also, is it just me or do the Wiley Text Book questions seem a lot more difficult than the Wiley Test Bank software questions?

Bob: I have the Wiley test bank of 2006-2007 for all four parts. Is it advisable to go through the questions in there for problem solving as regards the Audit section?

Howard: For FAR, I know that you do one module at a time and then progress to the next module after you get between a 70-80% on a sample test of 20 multiple choice questions. But there is so much time and information that you learn between the first module & the last module. How do you prevent yourself from forgetting information before you reach the end of the last module?

Melissa: I am sitting for REG on January 9, 2012. Will I be OK to study with the 2011 materials? I am also using the Wiley test bank and your NINJA notes. Should I consider supplementing with another test bank?

Emily: I took a review course for FAR and studied for 6 months. I did everything that the review course said, completed all of the of MCQ's, did all simulations, reread the textbook, and completed the final exam and mock exams. I was scoring a 69% on the mock exam, so I should not be surprised that I did not pass on my first attempt. I think there may be a better review course for my next try.Do you recommend switching review courses? And should I move on and take BEC before trying FAR again?

Jennifer: I just got my score on REG passed! Now, I am not sure what to take next. My job is already getting busy with year-end projection, and I am a single mom. I scheduled FAR for the beginning of February. I am not sure if that will give me enough time to study all of the material for FAR. Do you think two months is enough?

Eric: For the first quarter of 2012, which sections of the CPA Exam are OK to use 2011 review videos, assuming you have the latest updates already from your 2011 review videos? Are any 2011 review videos are OK for the first 6 months of 2012, assuming you have the latest updated for 2011?

Rachel: I have passed three parts of the exam, but I am stuck on Audit. I took it in November 2010 and got a 74. I got a 64 on my retake in July 2011 and another 64 in November 2011. I don't think priorities or motivation are my problem, so I think I need to switch review courses.I bought the NINJA notes and am interested in the Wiley test bank. Daniel: I have FAR remaining, but my BEC expires February 12, 2012. Do I have to sit for the exam before that date or do I have to be certified by that date? What about the ethics exam? Does that have to be finished before February 12, 2012?

Saman: I failed my first exam, FAR, with a 70. I studied for six months with my review course and the Wiley Test Bank. I thought I did pretty well. I really dont know where I went wrong. They told me I'm weaker in specific transaction events and comparable for the rest of them. Do you know what specific transaction events are? I plan on buying the NINJA Notes for FAR.

Sonia: I currently have the Wiley 2011 Regulations Exam Review book. Will I be OK to study with this book or should I purchase the 2012 version of Regulations Exam Review?

Fredrick: BEC is my last exam, which I took recently and got a 68. I'm running out of options, and my audit credit will expire on March 31,2011. Please help!

Juanita: I took intermediate accounting 2 and passed with a D. It was my last semester in college and at that point a person could graduate with a D in that course. I believe it has changed since 2008. Do you think I would struggle with the CPA exam if my background in this course is weak?

Yared: I am now asking friends and acquaintances to write to me a character/reference letter for my license, and I am not sure what they should include on the letter. Do you have a sample or template? I would really appreciate your usual support and advice.

Zehra: I have only passed FAR, and the credit expires May 24, 2012. I don't have much time left to pass the other sections, and I certainly don't want to take FAR again. I want to take all of them in January - February window so that in case I don't pass a section, I can retake in the April - May window. Could you please suggest a game plan on how I should tackle the rest of the sections of the exams?

Sandra: I have taken REG for the second time and I think I failed again even with putting in a lot of study time. While waiting on my REG score, I have been studying for FAR. I know I need help to pass the exam, but I dont know what to do. I speak English as a second language, which I have never let stop me, but I feel that I am a failure. I am working from 8:30am to 7:00pm every day and have no choice but to stay with this job. In 2010 I earned my bachelors in accounting, and this year I earned my masters degree. I am finally working on my CPA, and I will never give up, but I need to study smart. How can I study differently and be prepared for the exams?

Chris: I just finished up my MBA last week, and now I need to conquer the exam. I need to really be done in May/June time frame. I have only passed Regulation so far. What are your study suggestions for me? What should I start with?

Courtney: I took AUD in November and scored a 67. I took BEC in August and failed with a 71. My NTS for REG expires in early February, and I have scheduled REG for February 4th. I am not sure if I should go through with taking REG in February or retake AUD. Any advice on which test to take? When should I retake AUD?

Ken: I have to disagree with you on not bothering to do full practice (mock) exams that demonstrate the real exam experience. Yes, I see your point about just focusing your mind on one module at a time and gathering little fact nuggets that build onto each other as you're progressing through the questions. But I believe that you should experience as close as possible the real testing center environment and practice questions in random order from one topic to a completely different topic. Do you agree with anything that I mention here?

Ann: I just recently figured out that my study materials expire in March. When I ordered them, I didn't know they had an expiration date. At this point, I haven't passed any of the exams, and I'm starting to get very frustrated. My main question I guess is, do you have any recommendation on what study materials are good, but not too expensive?

Micah: I graduated in 2005 with a BS in Accountancy in a University in the Philippines. I need to get my transcripts evaluated by an accreditation organization, then they will forward the evaluation to the Board. I am choosing California because that's where I live. I also understand that it takes 6-8 weeks before they are done with the evaluation. How will I know that they have forwarded the evaluation? Is that when I apply for the test?

Josh: I have two DUIs from 2001 that were taken care of. I have passed the exam, completed the experience requirement, and have had no trouble since those incidents. I received a notification from NASBA that my file was under review. Is this going to slow down obtaining my license, or are they likely to deny my application?

Nishisksi: How do I use the NINJA Notes?

Gunther: I graduated with my MS in Accounting in May 2010. I want to pass all 4 parts as fast as I can. I have a full time job of 45 hours a week and a very tight budget. I need to know what materials to buy, how many hours to put in each section, which order to take them in, and when to study.

Katherine: I passed all four sections of the CPA Exam. I was wondering if the Ethics Exam also had to be taken in the 18 month time window? I was considering waiting 2 years to take the ethics exam since I am working on the 3 years of governmental auditing needed to be licensed in Alaska.

Ariadne: I failed FAR with a 63. MCQs were comparable, and I bombed simulations. I just finished going through my review course again and still don't feel ready. Ive considered changing review courses. In your opinion, how should I tackle this material? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This exam is challenging me in every way possible, and I feel very overwhelmed.

Jeff: During my FAR exam, my computer shut down. After it was restarted, I was assured by the employee at the test center that none of my test would be lost. I felt very confident about the exam. I received my score of 69 today, which was a shock because I felt I knew most of the material. Do you think there is a possibility the computer outage had anything to do with my failing score?

Jonathan: I just failed FAR a second time. I scored a 70 in May 2011 and 69 in November 2011. Im not too concerned about my ability to pass it, but curious as to what route you would take from here. I qualified for the my review courses update, so I can get the 2012 software and book for FAR at a reduced rate. Do you recommend getting the new materials, or using the 2011 material to knock out MCQs for 2 months straight to try and pass in Q1? My current software doesn't expire until May 2012. Thanks!

Mike: I took all 4 sections of the exam between July 1, 2011, and September 31, 2011. I passed FAR, REG, and BEC. I failed AUD with a 72. I studied hard again and felt more prepared than the first time around. I took full advantage of Wiley's Test Bank and hit roughly 75% on 5 or 6 full length practice tests. I got my score today: another 72. I've targeted January/February 2012 to retake AUD. Where do I go from here? Should I be OK using 2011 materials in the first window of 2012 for AUD?

Ozzie: I passed my last section, Audit, with an 86 with the help of your NINJA Study Notes. What now? How or when do I get that nice big certificate that I can post on my wall?

Amber: I started studying for the CPA exam in May 2009 and have failed all four sections multiple times. I just found out I got a 69 on Audit, and I cant get myself together.

June: I need your advice. I don't have kids and studying for CPA is now my full time job. I thought I would be able to sit for all 4 tests within one month. I have taken two tests already and will have to take two more. I study about 8-10 hours per day but I don't think it is enough. I know that I did not do well on my first two exams, and I dont think I will be ready for the last 2. I feel very overwhelmed and need direction and new study strategies. I am waiting for my results, and if I don't pass it, I would take them again in January or February. Can you suggest any study strategies that could help me?

Calvin: My review course is suggesting that I study all 4 sections at the same time to get a better grasp of whole accounting system. While I'm sure these people know what they are doing, I can't agree with it since that would be too much information and I would forget what I've learned. Would you suggest to work on one subject then move to another or study all 4 courses at the same time as suggested?

Maso: I have passed Regulation, took BEC in October (awaiting result), and I am taking FAR at the end of November. I plan to take Audit in January or February 2012. I cant decide whether I should buy Audit material this year or wait for the new 2012 materials. Do you have any information whether there are changes in 2012 Audit material?

Jason: I took audit today, and I think I did well on the multiple choice questions, but the simulations were extremely tough. Are the scores coming out faster now? I think instead of starting to study for the next section I should wait and see if I failed so I can just study for Audit more and take it again in January. What are your thoughts?

Prashanthi: I cleared the BEC section, and the credit expires on Feb 29, 2012. I have the other three sections to pass. I have a one-year-old kid and all the household work to take care of. I am hardly finding time to study. I started preparing for AUD as I planned to sit for one exam by the end of this month. I haven't covered majority of material as of now. Can you please suggest what I can do in this situation to pass 3 sections in such a short period of time?

Anonymous: I have been out of school for 2 years and have no accounting related experience. I have been working as loan processor and TBH, and I am tired of this position. I applied and was approved to sit for the CPA exams, but the fact that I have no work experience and that it has been a while since my last accounting class is stressing me out. I am thinking about buying the Wiley review materials. I also decided to study full time (No work, No school). Can I pass if I put in 6-8 hours a day and spend 3-4 weeks for each section? Brian: I messed up and waited too long to reserve my time slot to take my exam section. I live in Georgia, have taken and passed my 3 previous exam sections in Georgia, and plan on being licensed in Georgia. The only slot Prometric has to take the exam that fits my schedule is located in Alabama. I'm willing to drive to take the exam there, but I'm wondering if there are any issues taking an exam section in another state. Do I have to transfer the score? Will the score still count? I know it is called the "Uniform CPA Exam" so I wouldn't think there would be an issue, but I wanted to check with you and see your thoughts/experiences with the matter.

Andrew: For someone who hasn't passed any parts yet, do you think it's better to keep taking one part until you pass that part, or should you just take all four parts in a row and see how you do? Your thoughts are appreciated.

Daniel: I was recently accepted at a firm as an advisory associate that will be starting in Fall 2012. I'm currently working full time at a non-profit as a staff accountant while completing my MS in Accounting part time in the evenings. Since I plan to get my CPA license before I start working, what should be my plan of attack in terms of studying for the exam? I think after I graduate in May 2012 I should just quit my job and study full time from May to Sep/Oct. Do you think that will be enough hours? My professor advised me to study for two sections at a time and then take two sections one month after another. I don't know if that's too much or not. What is your take on how I should handle my study schedule to ensure that I can pass by Sep/Oct 2012?

Joyce: On the simulation portion of the Regulation exam, do I need to type my work into the cells? Would the work get reviewed for grading at all or is the final answer all that matters? I was wondering if partial credit would be given.

Travis: I noticed that the 2012 Wiley CPA exam review does not come out until December. I already have the 2011 material. I saw someone post on your site that the First Quarter 2012 exam will be based on 2011 material. Can you confirm this? I'm not sure how someone would study for FAR in early JAN 2012 if they don't have the updated material until December.

Sara: I just got my FAR score back this morning at failed with a 66. The review course I am using has been helpful in passing AUD and BEC and seems to be going well for REG, which I take November 30. I didn't feel as if I was retaining anything for FAR. I watched all the lectures but kept getting distracted and couldn't remember much after completing them. FAR has never been my best subject and maybe I just didn't give myself enough time to pass, roughly 6 weeks. I really need to pass both REG and FAR before tax season this spring.I was wondering what you would recommend as far as re-watching FAR lectures and reworking problems with my review course or switching to different materials. I have a photographic memory and tend to remember the correct answer choice if I've seen it before. Therefore, I probably need different multiple choice questions to work. Do you think NINJA notes and Wiley test banks for both REG and FAR would be a good idea? I don't want to fail REG too and everyone on the forum says that I definitely need to supplement my review course. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Marta: Im really down on myself right now. One of my friends emailed me an article you wrote on How to Pass a Section of the CPA Exam in 20 Days and I have a question for you. Is it truly possible to take the CPA exam as a single mom with kids starving for mom time, a full-time job and in a relationship? I feel like Im being pulled in so many directions. I really want to pass the exam but Im so frustrated with the material, with the timing and effort I need to invest which I dont have in the first place.I find myself hearing the review lectures and understanding what is being explained but not remembering a thing the next day! I have taken your advice from previous podcasts and started from the beginning by watching the videos and reading the book. I was just looking for some input or advice that you have for what I should do next.I am currently a staff accountant at a privately held company. My direct supervisor is not a CPA, the CFO is an inactive CPA, and the CEO is an active CPA. I work with the CFO every day and the CEO occasionally. Ultimately a lot of my work is reviewed and used by the CEO. I am hoping this could count towards my two years of experience that is required in PA; however, I have a feeling it won’t. I contacted the PA board of Accountancy to get their input, but haven’t heard back yet.My next problem is I do not have auditing/attest experience. I live in a small town and CPA firms are very minimal here. I will most likely need to change jobs and move or commute to a neighboring city for auditing experience.My main question is what should I do next? I’ve passed the exam, but do not have the experience required to become licensed. Can I submit anything to my state board to get the licensure process started? Or do I wait until I have completed the experience? Luckily, I have ten years to complete the experience requirement, I’m just anxious to get licensed since I finally passed!
Ayanna: Just wanted to know since you have been here before your advice. I am currently restudying Audit getting ready to take it for a 3rd time. My previous scores were 62 and 66. I am not pleased with my review course considering my investment in it. I have the Wiley test bank and textbook. I’m thinking about not using the review course at all this time around and just hitting questions hard. I have the exam scheduled for 11/5 and may push it up if I can find a slot. My review course promise expires and at the close of this November window and I am only planning on taking AUD and REG this testing window. Todd: Great inspirational video you posted. In your opinion, on passing the CPA test, what percent relies on a certain review course and what percent relies on just wanting it bad enough like the video told us?
Bryan: I am a CPA candidate in GA. I hope to have the test passed in January 2012. I have 2 1/2 years of continuous experience with a company in the tax department under an active CPA. However, I am about to leave this October 2011 to become an executive recruiter, which means no more accounting for me. Let’s say I pass in January 2012 and apply for my CPA in April 2012. Will my 2 1/2 years of experience still qualify me even though I would not be working in an accounting role for 6 months?
Greg: I’m 21 and a senior at CCSU in Connecticut. Im an accounting major and I want to pursue my CPA. My question for you is that as a Senior in college, am I better off staying an extra year and completing the 150 credits needed to become a certified CPA? Or should I graduate this May, look for a job in the accounting field in order to get experience, and later on go and take the exam and complete the extra year of school at some point?
Chana: I’ve taken AUD four times in the past two years scoring 66, 55, 72 and 69. I am looking for a tutoring service that can provide a tutor to work privately with me so that I can pass this time and not loose another test credit. I noticed that the big review courses don’t offer that. Do you know of any reputable services that offer one-on-one tutoring?
Lisa: Based on your experience, in what order should you take the exams? Is it wise to buy the review before the Illinois Board’s approval? In your opinion, how important is to have video lectures from your review course?
Ashley: I have just recently started studying for the CPA exam with my first exam (FAR) on the 26th of October. I have applied for FAR and AUD in Washington state and my husband just asked me today if I would want to relocate to Oregon because a position opened up there. I am seriously considering it, but I am worried about what will happen if I take two tests in Washington before we move. What happens then? Will I have to retake all of them in Oregon?
Casey: Any advice or techniques for people that require A LOT of sleep. I am currently following the Early Lunch Late plan and wake up at 5:30 and study for an hour. This seems to be my most focused time. Then I study at lunch for an hour. I get home a little after 5 and depending on what is for dinner, I will study while eating or won’t get started again till 6ish. As soon as its about 7:30-8 I am ready to hit the sheets! I don’t know if its beneficial to push through it. Will this time be effective study time or will I be too worried about going to bed? Any tips/advice???
Daniel: I understand the AICPA has implied that Law Task Based Simulations are fair game with regard to Regulation. The review course I am using covers a TBS for most Law modules but it just seems like so much information to retain. Have you heard of Law being tested in TBS format? Do you recommend allocating as much time to Law TBS examples as I would with Tax TBSs?
