015: Series#1 Putting On Something New Second Episode in the Series!

We are not what or how we may seem. Imagine someone sees you when you're really tired. You're not your usual self, and so anyone meeting you that day would meet a worn out version of you. While the tiredness you experienced was true of you that day, it's not true of you all the time. Because we are fallible human beings, we can be subject to our emotions.

In this series, we are hashing out the concept of newness in Christ Jesus and how this newness affects our relationships. We will walk through Colossians 3, and learn what God has to say through his word and how our relationships can be better by applying this word.

In this episode we take a look at what it looks like to live in and through Christ and how that impacts our relationships. We look at what we can avoid to have the fullness of Christ present in us and in our relationships.

014: We will find what we’re looking for. Whether it's something tangible or an idea like peace of comfort, we will find something. The question is whether or not what we've found is really what we need. The truth is that God knows what we need because all that we need is in Jesus. But are we looking for Jesus or for something else?

In this series, we are hashing out the concept of newness in Christ Jesus and how this newness affects our relationships. Being new in Jesus means a number of different things about us, our hearts, and our connections to others. Don’t miss this series on Newness and relationships.

In this episode we open up Colossians 3 and look at our mindset and what it really reveals about our hearts..

013: So often we interact with others forgetting that we are presenting ourselves to God with every word and every action. We miss the opportunity to be kind, considerate, forgiving, or show grace. Instead, we are focused on our own struggles, pain, gripes, and concerns. We want to do the minimum, so we can move on. But God is looking on. And because of the line that God has shown us, we should want his approval and to not be ashamed.

https://wisdomrelationships.com

In this episode, we talk about a familiar scripture applied to relationships. Treating others as we want to be treated and in a way that honors God is possible, but it requires being connected to the truth. It requires being faithful to what is really true.

Scriptures:

2 Peter 1:10, 15 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: …

2 Peter 3:14

Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

012: Sometimes we forget that God loves us. We get caught up in making things happen and doing things on our own. We forget that God loves us and wants good for us. We forget that He is ever-present and all around us. We forget that he is excited about us. When in relationship with another person, remembering these things gives us the right foundation for treating them well consistently. It provides the grounds for remembering that God sees the other person the same way that he sees you.

wisdomrelationships.com

In this episode, we dive into how God is excited about us and what that looks like in day-to-day-living. We share about the impact this truth has on relationships and connecting with others in meaningful ways. This episode is an encouragement to walk wholly in the love of God, and from that ever-present unconditional love, make room for loving others.

011: When it comes to relationships, we want to be able to say that they bring us joy. Or at least that there are moments of joy. On compassion.com, a post titled The Difference Between Joy and Happiness states that “Joy is an inner feeling. Happiness is an outward expression. Joy endures hardship and trials and connects with meaning and purpose. A person pursues happiness but chooses joy.” Joy is a choice? Perhaps.

010: The world we live in is spiritual. Sure we see things and there are elements that we can touch even, but these things are the manifestation of God’s gift to humanity as well as demonstrations of a fallen humanity. The Bible tells us that there is a warring happening, you know principalities and powers and so on. And Beloved this is the truth. There is a war for your soul and spirit. This war happens in relationships. Our relationship with ourselves and the conversations we have within is where spiritual warfare happens. Our connections to others, be they relationships we can touch or those we cannot, is where spiritual warfare happens.

009: So many want to be in a relationship with another person. Sometimes to the point of risk and harm. Women want a husband or for men, they want a wife. But there is a reason why this significant other is not present. There are many reasons why a relationship is currently not manifested for you. But before we get to the reasons, we have to have the right heart and spirit about this current stage.

006: Leo Tolstoy said, “If you want to be happy, be.” But what should we be? There are many things that we desire and many things we may strive to be. But the one at the top of the list, it’s likely to be happiness. Happiness is the goal we all strive for, at work, in our families, and in our leisure. Where should we start to “be”? What does the bible say about being when it comes to happiness? Fortunately, the Word of God does not leave us hanging.

005: There is so much power in the tongue. We take for granted, with free speech, that we can say whatever we want. It’s worth considering however how what we say impacts others...or is it? Our mouths can do so much - build up, tear down, spark imagination, cause a smile, speak peace, or speak death. But what happens when we use our mouths to deceive.

This episode takes a look at an organ of our body that literally makes it all happen, believe it or not. The tongue. It can be used for so much but what do we really gain for the words we speak? This one might make you go hmmmm…

004: Which would you rather? Love that’s real or “love” that’s not. Love is something we all need. We will sometimes do whatever we can to get it, at our own expense. Yet God’s design is a love that can be counted on because it comes from a real place. A safe place. This love also gives us the power to see good and evil with spiritual eyes. This episode delves into love that’s real and what comes with it. Yes it is the main course, but the sides are hearty and not to be left out!

https://wisdomrelationships.com

This episode is sure to challenge our connections with love and hate, but it will also cause us to think differently about evil - a word that is hardly used anymore. As members of the body of Christ, we must call a thing what God says it is, which means we must know what God says it is. Believe it or not, this is a way that God protects us - our hearts and minds. Relating to things the way that God states we should, keeps our hearts from being swayed in the wrong direction.
