Jason Webster, Precision Planting Agronomist. Webster says this summer the farm will showcase an Autonomous Livestock Confinement Center. As a part of their sustainability research, the center will be rolling through a strip cropping field this summer. The center will move daily and house sheep, goats, and poultry.(eventually hogs) The manure will be distributed as a part of the farm’s fertility program. The research project will be a 3–10-year trial and the first year’s results will be collected this fall, with harvest.

Rita Frazer talks with Gordie Siebring, Gordie and his wife started farming on an Iowa dairy farm in 1981 and by 1993 had sold their cows. That’s when Gordie answered an ad in the newspaper looking for 100 Iowa farmers to travel to the Ukraine for a project headed up by Zenika ICI seed, chemical and equipment. That was a three-week project and Gordie has been there since. Today he is a farmer and works for a used ag equipment business.
