In this episode I respond to a guest on the Ezra Klein Show. The guest, a philosopher, was arguing that businesses and families are also central planning and lead to power balances that need egalitarian considerations.
While this criticism of anti-government thought may seem persuasive on the surface it completely misunderstands the fundamental social criticism that libertarianism brings to the table. Libertarianism isn’t anti governance or authority but anti-violence. It’s this crucial point that egalitarians often misunderstand about libertarians and I explain in this podcast episode.

I wake up today on Independence Day to heat that Justin Amash has declared his independence from the GOP.
This is a bold move that hopefully will wake more people up from the division that centralized decision making and electoral politics creates and help them see how its effects on our income and expenses drives families and communities apart.

After watching a few episodes of the amazing show, One Day at a Time, I had a realization when discussing prejudice and how race/class results in differences in criminal justice outcomes. I recorded my thoughts on how underlying the race/class discussion might be underpinned by a greater cultural bias towards consumers versus producers which also explains how many other conflicts are framed and play out in today’s society.
These are just thoughts to spark a discussion. Hear more at AlexMerced.com
