Angie Fadel

This is a podcast for the misfits in and out of spiritual community. We will lean into vulnerability by not hiding mistakes and missteps- that’s how we learn. You will hear from experts and novices all over the world just trying to live fully who they were meant to be. This is for all people who won’t be defined in binary terms. This is the last installment of this season's #holidaysurvivaltipsandtricks. I will return in a few weeks for season 7 of #soulcarewithangiefadelpodcast. Take care, be kind to yourself, and remember you are loved. In this episode, I get into the f-up thing that often happens in families or friend groups when we are the ones that say NO MORE, tell the truth no one wants told, and drag those skeletons out into the open. Unfortunately, what usually happens is that the truth-teller is rejected, ostracized, and slandered because they had the audacity to not keep secrets and prop up a toxic system. It doesn't matter that everyone involved knew/knows that the person that did/is doing the damage is a terrible person, abusive, dangerous, racist, homophobic, transphobic, etc. what matters to them is you weren't/aren't willing to keep that secret - that's what they don't like! So reward and honor all the beautiful work you are doing BIG and small. You deserve all the rewards and honors for doing hard things. There's a little surprise at the very end of this episode.Interested in an experience this holiday season? I have gift certificates!!! This is the 5th installment of our container building #holidaysurvivalguides and #holidaytipsandtricks. We've been building for over a month now and things are getting (at least for me) more pressured, busy, and demanding on time, resources, and NOs and YESes. So let's talk about it- I don't want to pretend that I don't have days where I wonder where my boundaries went or wish I had not put so many things in my schedule, but I'm trying and using the tools, some days are just more taxing than others. In this episode, I will take us through a Somatic Experiencing exercise to help us hold and acknowledge that we have needs, wants, and desires those are human things and are normal - this exercise will help us sit with those needs, wants, and desires and express and perhaps release some of the tension that comes with not getting those met and also having them stored in our bodies. I hope you enjoy! Love, Angie

We are still building our containers to not only get us through this season, but attend to our needs, wants, and desires, and notice where the tenderness resides. We started with Building A Container For Tender Times, and we Showed Up For Ourselves In Tender Times, and then practiced slowing down with We Need To Feel It In Order To Excorise It. Today we bring it all together by continuing to build the muscles of our containers and notice how we can deeply love ourselves. Grab a candle and join all of us by raising our light into the world and reminding ourselves we are not alone. Love, AngieInterested in an experience this holiday season? I have gift certificates!!! We have been building a container to handle the demands, pressures, expectations, and all around fuckupedness that can happen in this season, and this week we add another layer, level, or stabilizer to that container because most of us (me included) can use all the help we can get. We started with Building A Container For Tender Times (creating personal mantras for this season), then we Showed Up For Ourselves In Tender Times(making a list of what we’ve said yes to around this time of year and regretted and a list of what we wished we had done instead), and now slowing down when EVERYTHING else seems to be speeding up. How, where, and when can we add slowness to our lives without added work, time, and energy? Giving ourselves the little we need so we can be more ourselves than we’ve ever been before. I hope you enjoy this series and that it's helpful to you. I'd love to hear from you and the ways you are creatively looking at this time of year. Love, Angie

This is the second installment for building your container in tender times #holidaysurvivaltipsandtricks. I will be off for the next two weeks so you can go back and listen to previous holiday survival guides. In this episode, I build off the mantra work from last week and talk about ways to make our container strong so that we can own our NOs and our YESSES with fewer regrets and resentments. Keep listening and building on what you've already been working on - creating room, space, time, moments, and awareness, and carving out the small spaces you need to do the work. This is the first episode in my reoccurring series #holidaysurvivaltipsandtricks this might be the longest-running thing I've ever done and it is deeply rooted in my own survival and the survival of those closest to me. How do we protect our most tender selves in a time that no matter what you believe in or where you come from can be fraught?  You could tap out of the whole season, not see another problematic person and still have things come up for you. In this first episode, I want to talk about building your personal container from the jump. What can you do now before things get rolling to help you feel good from start to finish? Maybe your family is fine but your co-workers suck; maybe you moved during the lockdown and have yet to find your safe people; maybe painful childhood memories come up; maybe you have grief and loss that make the holidays feel like navigating a gauntlet. Whatever it is starting now adding simple, attainable, gentle, soft, awareness builders for your body "tells" can be a lifesaver. As well as coming up with a personal #mantra for you to say as you walk forward into whatever is ahead. Maybe it's something like I AM WORTH LOVING, IT IS HEALTHY TO BE DIFFERENT, I DON'T HAVE TO LIKE OR BE LIKED BY EVERYONE, MY OWN SAFETY IS AN APPROPRIATE NEED, and I DON'T HAVE TO SPEND MONEY TO BE LOVED...... Whatever it is start saying it over and over till you can claim it for yourself and this season. Because you are worth calm, rest, and staying safe. Thank you for giving this a listen, sharing it, reviewing it, and doing all the things. If you want to reach out and ask a question go to angiefadel@gmail.com or DM on Instagram. What someone thought was your biggest weakness might actually be your biggest strength. In my formative years, that thing in me was my sensitivity for others and the world and my love for the "other". My parents didn't get it and were embarrassed by it I was taught to hide it and be ashamed of it. It for them was a weakness that they considered my Kryptonite. They hated it (or at least that's how I interpreted it) unless they needed it- so I would watch out for my siblings, obey, fall in line easily, etc. That created confusion inside of me and made me hate something that was and is beautiful. What is your gift/superpower? What is the thing you've hidden away in embarrassment or shame? What is the thing that when you embrace it makes you feel the most welcome inside yourself? That's not your Kyriptonite that's your gift. In this episode, I will unpack my own fraught relationship with love and sensitivity and how I am letting it (or at least trying) take up more and more space. This isn't without boundaries! I've worked hard to trust the wisdom inside me and listen to its nudges. I hope you will too. Love, Angie

I Am Only Responsible For Today, I Am Only Responsible For Today, I Am Only Responsible For Today, this was the #mantrafortherestofus I posted on Monday (it's been a minute since I've done my Monday mantras), and with breath and awareness I set out to try and do just that this week. And true to form Tuesday it felt like everything unraveled. Did it actually unravel? No, I just think that because I was paying attention to my desire to take one day at a time I was hyper-aware when things felt like they went sideways. This is possibly the REAL reason for a mantra in the first place- a beginning, a start, to approach the rub, the chaos, the swirl, the fear, the anxiety, with follow - listen - stop - breathe - listen - follow - with softness, practice, and the understanding that we won't be able to do it every time, but we can go back and start again, and again, and again building on the expanse "To Be" inside ourselves. Thank you for giving this a listen, sharing it, reviewing it, and doing all the things. Love, Angie  Interested in All Hallows' Mindful Archery Oct, 30 9:30 - 11 am click the link. In this week's episode, I have two main topics I want to talk about- the first is about doing our own work and not asking others to do what we haven't done or aren't willing to do whether you are a therapist, spiritual director, teacher, parent, friend, basically anyone. Think about what you are suggesting/asking and whether you are trying those things in your own life as well not just telling others to do it. Secondly, loving and healing is complicated and can be a very long process with ups and downs, twists and turns, and it is rarely straightforward. Sometimes we do ALL the work and the healed spot is still tender. Sometimes we wake up one morning and the anger is gone. Sometimes the person who did the wronging can work to make it right and the injury still smarts. That doesn't mean you aren't healing it just means it takes time.  I am no stranger to this yet sometimes I'm still shocked that I'm angry, tired, resentful... When what I want is to give myself less judgment around my feelings and more room, gentleness, curiosity, and love. To be able to say to all the parts of myself that I'm okay. That is the work of love right? To be gentle, loving, curious, with all the parts of ourselves.  Love, Angie Interested in All Hallows' Mindful Archery Oct, 30 9:30 - 11 am click the link. REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE. What the hell does that even mean? I've been asked some form of this question many times- why would I want to remember that, I'm terrible, unlovable, not enough, or some variation of those? But that isn't what I mean when I look into the eyes of my children, or friends, or your eyes I'm looking deep and speaking to that ancient, child, innocent, playful, curious, part of you and saying -remember. That's what I call out in myself and that's what I call out in you. That's what I'm talking about here today and that is also what we are going to do while we listen- REMEMBER WHO WE ARE! Give it a listen and remember you are loved. Thanks to all the Colorado people who came out those 3 days to do #meditativearchery 31+ total!!! Part One: Who am I? It has been a while since I've talked about who I am and what I do. Those of you that have been around for a while will know what I do and those of you that are new to the podcast welcome! I have a MA, SF, and am a Certified Spiritual Director and Supervisor (this is new to some of you. I got my Supervision training this last year so if you are looking for someone who can offer Supervision hours - I could be that person), I created Meditative Archery, Mindful Archery, Family Friendly Archery, plus a lot more. I love people and am always on a quest to better love myself, others, and this world.  Part 2: You can listen to this episode in one go or break it into 2 parts. I recommend getting somewhere quiet and cozy for this second part of the podcast. Somewhere you can hear your breath, fully relax, and have some grounding time. I will take you through a short meditation with a little ritual as well. I hope you enjoy! Remember Who You Are! You are worth Knowing, You are worth Loving, You are worth Being in this World! So much good stuff going on in my mind and heart--have I figured out my sadness around my birthday? A little bit and I even got a more profound revelation while talking with you all on here. Where does the Autumn Equinox fit in you might be asking? Well... It provides us with possibilities for new rhythms, possible slowing down, new rituals, and opportunities for trying out things and seeing what fits, what feels good, what doesn't feel good, and in the spirit of Equinox letting things go- cleaning our inside house as well as our outside house (if that feels good). Try it on and tell me what you think. This Sunday's fundraiser for the Red Blanket Fund for MMIWg2S was a total success! Thank you to all that came out and supported. If I've said it once I've said it a 1,000 times my birthday makes me feel discombobulated. If you can relate you'll love this episode and if you can't relate I guarantee someone you love can and they need you to understand where they are coming from. In this episode, I will bare a little of my soul (as usual) and let you into new revelations I've had surrounding my own birthday and the street it brings me because... We all long to be loved, celebrated, remembered, etc. and that's one of the reasons birthdays can get complicated especially if you have trauma.

Please put these two events on your calendar

Everything Is Dying And Being Reborn it's the truth whether we want to admit it to ourselves or not -- we are dying and being reborn, our plans, our relationships, our bodies, etc. In this episode, I talk about my experience with this concept and the path to the BEING REBORN part. I'm not suggesting there should be optimism, bright side looking, toxic positivity, because I don't believe that there won't be grief or rage, anger or hopelessness, fear or freeze, with the loss and death and it is in the feeling and acknowledging and sitting with that a spark can be born.

Once again a reminder that this is a conversation I want to have with myself and you, it's not me finger-pointing at you letting you know I got this all figured out it's me being vocal about my process and the pain accompanying it. We/You/Me are not alone.

Give this a listen and let me know where you are on the death and rebirth continuum. This episode is very tender for me because recently I have been doing loving work with my 8 year old self (picture in podcast art) and all the things she was told or interpreted to be true about her which in fact weren't true at all; the things that shaped me into the person I am today; the things that forced me to be an adult way before my time; to be responsible for what I should never have been responsible for; ALL OF IT. Giving that child space to breathe, laugh, love, play, be a little careless, and carefree, and give her a little more room to be fully herself. And that is what I want for you and whatever part/parts that haven't been able to be free at whatever age. I will lead you through a little meditation at the end - you as your own icon. Give yourself time, tenderness, and space to do it at your own pace or not to do it at all.

We come into this world full of curiosity, wonder, and a non-self-consciousness as kids we play make-believe without a care in the world - we are just discovering the world around us. For the rest of our lives, I think we are attempting to get back to ourselves (except maybe somewhere in our middle years when we might care too much the world says we should be). Ultimately we want to be free again to engage the world with wonder, freedom, and the original spark that lit us up with life.

In this episode, I talk about ways to find that spark of not giving a F*ck about what other people think. And caring more about what you think. Leaning into yourself, others, and the world with curiosity and maybe even a little make-believe.

Every time I think we will get a little break maybe catch a breather from the constant influx of stress I am wrong and another thing or 5 come at us. It is enough to make the most enlightened human want to crawl into a hole and hide out for a while. This week has been one of those weeks so much trauma and pain happening to us and around us. I myself have felt like all I can do is put one foot in front of another and try and do only what I have to do to keep things running but not much more than just that. I have had this gnawing feeling in my belly all day every day. In this episode, I talk about acute overwhelm (what I've been feeling since Tuesday) but whatever you are feeling it can apply to that as well. I talk about how to get a little relief while in this state.

Will it change everything? No.

Will it help right now in this moment? Probably.

Will you have to try these 4 or 5 steps more than once? Sure will.

It isn't revolutionary but it is practical and often tiny steps of love, trust, care, gentleness, and softness can revolutionize our own feelings which can help us be more present with ourselves and others -- and it just might help.

Regardless of the outcome you still deserve care, attention, love, and moments of respite.

Please take care, everyone.

This episode is about the clichés that we say and believe but are also true- just breathe, it will look better in the morning, you can only do what you can do, etc. We may feel foolish when we say these things but there is also deep truth to be found in their simplicity. The paradox of holding simple and complex things at the same time, anger and peace, grief and joy (for more on paradox follow my friend Kathy Escobar). Feelings that seem to be opposites but there is still something new and beautiful to be found right in the middle of them. If that's not magic I don't know what is!

I also mention Myriam Joseph in this episode and her generous words to me that I continue to reflect back on- maybe those her words will help you too.

A hawk flying through the air, a squirrel holding a candy wrapper in its tiny hands, and licking the chocolate off it -- all magic. We have to take it all where we can get it, let it buoy us, strengthens us, and give us joy even if only for a moment. Every moment of magic, of noticing, of feeling, is a radical act. And I am here for it and you.

So look everywhere for moments all around you little and big.

This week on the pod I have brought you one of my archery students and a newish friend (to me and now you) -- Yoga therapist, Sarah Nelsen. In this episode, we talk about what brought Sarah to this Somatic practice and specifically to the demographic of those of us living with chronic illness. We don't shy away from the difficulties surrounding trying to live fully in a world that doesn't see, believe, or make space for them. The POWERFUL it is to sit, listen, hold space, and believe someone --IT'S TRANSFORMATIVE.

Sarah was also kind enough to lead me in meditation at the end of this episode. I enjoyed it and I hope you do, as well.

In this episode, I want you to come on a journey with me to figure out if it is possible to find peace in the middle of all the f-ing shit happening around us right now. Is it possible to feel what needs feeling so that we can move through those difficult emotions and not take the rage and anger out on those we love or innocent bystanders? I'm not sure but just thinking of the possibilities in today's podcast helped me not feel quite so controlled by what's happening and let peace and not peace move through me. Peace isn't the absence of strife, conflict, protesting, or advocating, peace is in the middle in the midst of it. And one way to advocate for our own peace is by feeling our feelings appropriately not bottling them up, and finding opportunities during our day--with safe people or on our own to feel what needs feeling. This doesn't have to be naval gazing for any and every feeling but just checking in with ourselves to see where we are at with what's happening at different times during the day or at the very least when we go to bed at night taking stock of how we felt during the day. Remembering we aren't alone in these experiences we are together! We aren't a few voices shouting into a void we are many! And it's not over yet.

Please take care of yourself. And remember today May 5th is Missing & Murdered Indigenous Relatives Day of Remembrance and I will be making a donation to the Urban Indian Health Institute I hope you will give to an organization of your choosing that is happening to find missing and indigenous people.

There are almost always swears with anything I do, so be warned if you are listening with kids or you don't enjoy a bit of spicy language.

Trigger Warning! I'm talking about abuse in this episode with no details but it might be hard for some.

In this episode, I'm relooking at what it means tobe someone's believer but from a different angle - How to not fall into the trap of being complicit. First thing first when someone shares and traumatic story with you believe them! I know this might sound like a duh but you might be surprised at how often that doesn't happen. Someone says they believe you but in every action of belief, they fail you which in turn retraumatizes you (and is NOT believing you): inviting your abuser to functions that you want to attend; saying they are not taking sides which most definitely is a side and not the right side to be on(there is no middle ground where abuse is concerned); not telling you the person who harmed you will be at Christmas or any event that you are planning on attending; giving chance after chance to the person who has done all the damage and making you figure out whether you can go to something or not, call them out or not, survive it again or not, spend hours in therapy trying to find ways you can attend- All Retraumatizing.

People are so worried about hurting feelings, making waves, and causing conflict with people that have done REAL HARM but not stopping and considering what this does to the person who survived! Every event weighing their options: should I go? Can I handle it? How long will it take me to recover? What is wrong with me? Why can't they love me? Etc! Believing someone is about YOUR actions! Not so much about theirs. You not staying in relationship or the middle with people that have traumatized another person in your family, friend group, or couple friends (I realize this is more nuanced but in my situation, I think it's pretty cut and dry) is how you show BELIEF over and over again and the flip side is also true you continually inviting, including, making space for the abuser is also showing them over and over again that you think its all fine. Your actions communicate your lack of love and belief louder than anything else!

Don't invite the traumatizer to something that you have also invited the survivor to - put the survivor first! Don't make them choose whether they can go or not go, don't put them in the position where they again have to weigh what they can handle and agonize about that decision, don't put them in a position where they have to choose not to show up for their own sanity, mental health, and well being prioritize that person. A survivor of trauma is always working to survive because the trauma has radiated out into all the facets of their life because trauma doesn't just stay in the place and with the person who inflicted it trauma goes with that person wherever they are. And they are working to live and mitigate the damage trauma does. Please don't make them work even harder.

I believe you!

You are worth knowing

You are worth loving

You are worth being in this world

Love Angie

In this episode, I will take you into the woods with me. While we hold the Yes/And from last week and add its sibling (inner wisdom) or its equal partner and expand out from there. We will try and cultivate a way of being in ourselves that no matter what is going on in and around us - broken appliances, stress at work, children, friends, partners, climate, war, racism, and the all-around noise and not allowing the inner and outer racket to prevent us from learning to hear our inner wisdom. Unfortunately, our inner wisdom is a much quieter voice and we have to give it space to be heard. What actually feels good, peaceful, soft, calming, loving, healthy, and freeing? Under the din and pressure of what we've been told we should and could be doing or what should feel good to us what really does feel good? Make that list of possibilities hot baths, walks in the rain, coffee in the morning, yoga, time with friends, time alone, silly walks and silly talks, you write the story of you, you make the possibilities, stay curious, stay playful, withhold criticism. And remember YOU ARE WORTH KNOWING, YOU ARE WORTH LOVING, YOU ARE WORTH BEING IN THIS WORLD. For all of you listening from the beginning, a big thank you, and for all of you who have found me more recently thank you for giving me a chance to spend time with you. I value it and you. Even though it could be said this is a made-up space and we aren't really together I am surprised almost every episode how connected I feel to you and how much I've needed this space to talk about what is important to me and hopefully I've hit on a lot of what's important to you. Welcome to season 5 episode 1 in this episode I unpack the wisdom, power, and clarity that comes from leaning into and saying Yes/And to ourselves and more importantly our inner wisdom. I've discussed Inner Wisdom in previous seasons but this is a new level and layer to unpack and get comfortable with - the idea of knowing we truly have ourselves and we can trust ourselves. We can trust ourselves enough to lay down our armor (even if just for a bit) and let others see us and let us be seen by ourselves- this is real vulnerability. I hope you will take this trust ride with me and see if we can come out of this a little less guarded, a little more trusting, and a little more comfortable with ourselves.

I mention my friend Amy Mcmullen's retreat Navigator and two previous podcasts Groomed Against Wisdom s4e15 and another one I can't locate on my Meditative Archery workshops you'll just have to give them all a listen to find it.

This podcast is lovingly created by me for you and I am so grateful you take the time to listen. Please like, share, subscribe, rate, and review. Music created by my genius partner Todd Fadel

Season 4 wrap and my 90ith episode!!! I can't believe this is the final episode of my fourth season, that I have completed 90 episodes, and other than my amazing guests have done this on my own. Yes, I have had a lot of love, encouragement, and belief along the way but to really make it happen I had to believe in myself - huge for me especially around technical stuff.

I will see you (hear me) all back here in February for more conversations and hopefully a little community-building, as well - if that's what you're into.

In this episode, I take you to the woods for a little walk, a little breath, and a little ritual of sorts. I know we aren't really in the woods together but this is my small attempt to take you with me. This week in my #mantrasfortherestofus the mantra was "I will hold onto myself no matter what the world brings" and in today's podcast, I will take you through some centering to help you get there. It's hard out in the world and we need all the soft and tender things we can get and give ourselves. I hope this helps and you remember that You are worth knowing, You are worth loving, You are worth being in this world. Love, Angie

Holidays are hard for everyone! We are all bringing expectations, hopes, dreams, traumas, and griefs to name just a few and they are all smooshed together to create a vulnerable and possibly reactive state.

In this episode, I unpack something that is happening in and with me at the moment. I hope this unpacking will also be helpful to you as you navigate the complexity of dealing lovingly with yourself as you also deal with others.

Please take care of yourself and remember that it is okay to take breaks- to recenter, breathe, and let the stress out. Doing these little practices can help you come out of the festivities still feeling like yourself.

Feelings not matching the sparkle of the season? Wondering why you don't have the happy glow and holly jolly reverie that everyone else seems caught up in? It could be that there are present sad, mad, bad, feelings that need to be felt, or maybe it's stuff squeaking out from childhood holidays past. Whatever it is it deserves our loving attention either in the moment or if that's not safe or appropriate creating safe ways and places later in the day to feel and express what needs felt and expressed. It doesn't always make sense why and where these feelings are coming from and that's okay it doesn't have to make sense. Whether it makes sense or not doesn't diminish its importance and its need to be felt and moved through. These acts of feeling could help create the space needed to help us navigate the holidays instead of being navigated by the holidays. Here's hoping you can lean into a loving space of feeling.

I always make a point during the holidays to offer you as much help as I can to navigate all the complexities that come with this season. This is my holiday pocket protector for you I truly hope it helps.

In this episode, I walk you through 3 short practices that you can try during the holidays (or tomorrow before you see family). These three practices make up a whole practice meant to help you ground, center, and embody as much of yourself as you can no matter what situations you might be facing. Keep in mind - if your family is unsafe this practice is not going to help you only limiting access will help you. If this is the case and it is a new or old revelation to you and you are now ready to look at it therapy is a wonderful way forward.

This week I'm getting into not only holiday survival tips and tricks but Inner wisdom nuggets as well. My hope is that it will help you get through these tricky times coming up in the next 2 months. It is a good idea to have a plan that will help you navigate the bombardment that sometimes happens during the holidays with family, pressures, obligations, money, boundaries, and everything else. I hope this helps even a little bit.

Also, check out Kathy Escobar & Phyllis Mathis' Podcast Soul Practice it is so full of love, life, and wisdom. And the book I'm reading and that I mention in this episode is The Toa of Fully Feeling by Peter Walker

When inner wisdom and love work together for our common good everything can change. Does it take time? Yes! Is there a lot of paying attention needed? Yes. Is it hard? Sometimes! Come unpack this with me on this episode - leaning into inner wisdom to help us learn to love ourselves or maybe loving ourselves and paying attention to that love helps us tap into inner wisdom both are equally good and probably depend on the person or what day of the week it is. I got into some of what I talked about on this episode on my recent blog post I Will Not Fight For Love and my recent podcast on Inner Wisdom. There aren't words for how filled up and grateful I am to have gotten to snag time with this beautiful soul friend- so filled up! If you are lucky enough in your life to find an Avril you hold on to it for all your worth because they are heart friends and don't come along every day.

Avril has been through the wringer these past few years and nearly lost herself along the way

this is her...

Coming back to herself story

I'm worth it story

Reconnecting story

Self-love story.

It's not easy there is grief upon grief that has to be felt. There is inner wisdom that has to be listened to and hard things that have to be done. There is no road map because every path is different and at the end which is also the beginning there is US again and the whole beautiful painful journey is worth it.

That is just some of what we discuss here today. No quick fixes! No shortcuts! No easy answers! Just the reality of being a living breathing person trying to do right - for themselves and others.

I'm back from my trip and what a trip it was - Montana, to Colorado, and all the way back to Portland by car and then straight to the Oregon coast with #meditativearchery taught by me to over 48 people from all walks of life from 11 to 70. I feel filled to bursting and excited to see what the future holds.  In this episode, I go deep into the grooming we receive as children to not listen to our inner wisdom and the ways society is set up for us not to trust ourselves thus making us more easily manipulated, self-doubting, and confused. More doubt of ourselves being pilled on by society, religion, family, and pretty much any person holding a position of power in our lives.  We deserve MORE! We deserve to know ourselves and follow that true knowing- that has our best interests at heart. Knowing how to listen to the voice inside and follow it without so much stress and distrust. This voice is worth getting to know, it is worth building a relationship with, it is worth cultivating a deep trust with because it is the unconditional loving part of you, for you. I will say it again - it is the only truly unconditional loving part of us for us. And out of that deep love and knowing comes everything else.  I am also doing a fundraiser I mention at the very end of the pod. I want to purchase 6 bows and 40 arrows for more people without access to archery to get the opportunity to shoot. I will purchase and send this equipment on the #beautyheals in Colorado where I just was. If you’d like to donate Venmo me at @angiefadel don’t forget to say - for Archery. What is the most magical memory you have as a child? Waking up Christmas morning? Camping under the stars? The first snowy morning of winter? A treasured book? Leaves crunching under your feet? Whatever it is and however small and seemingly insignificant bring it to your mind, sit with it and in it, take yourself all the way back to the wonder and magic that children so easily go to. In this episode, we go back to our childhood to honor our inner child who is still there and is still in touch with the fantastical, unbelievable, and ridiculous and hasn't sunk all the way into the traps of what being an adult "should" be. It is the wonder that lets us disappear in nature and still be amazed by the night sky. It is the wonder that draws people to a sunset on the beach to watch it do what it's done for millennia. It is magic and wonder that keep us finding joy, embracing some chaos, and letting ourselves be a little bit free-er. Return with me to a little bit of magic.

How do we keep our peace when what we really feel is anger, hopelessness, fear, sadness, and rage? If we give our peace away how do we get it back? What are our options? In this episode, I discuss a powerless making situation that I am currently trying to manage while not totally giving all my hard-won peace away or killing the messenger. This isn't about doing the right thing or not getting angry it is about a desire to not end up on the floor a total mess or if I do end up on the floor how to get back up and give myself love, attention, and whatever I need in that moment. I want this for all of us even if it's in little fits and starts. We deserve peace.

In this episode I talk about how to unclench, stop holding our breath, and not brace for the impact of what we are living through right now. Is this easy? Hell no, but so so worth it. It may only be when you are using this meditation that you can let go and relax, but for whatever amount of time you can do it- it matters. Our bodies can only take so much holding and waiting for the other shoe to drop without it taking an emotional and physical toll on us and probably those we love. This meditation is meant to help you let your body relax, breathe, and and release the tension, stress, anxiety, rage, and grief that you may be holding or is stuck in your body. What’s the difference between being sensitive and an empath? In my personal experience none. It’s about whatever word helps you own who you are and learn how to not be overwhelmed or controlled by that gift. In this episode I talk about my experience living with sensitivity (a curse to my family) and how I’ve learned and am learning to love and embrace it in my daily life while at the same time working to avoid the fatigue that comes with feeling a lot. I am also trying to do a fundraiser to support the water protectors at Willow River, part of the Mississippi water shed. I will send the money in the next 2 weeks if you want to join with me. There are sacred places in the world, places where we can find peace, rest, breathe, and return to our true selves. What makes a place sacred to you? Well, only you can know what that really is, and when you find that place or if you are truly lucky, places you hang on and guard it with your life.  I have a place like that. It's my river spot and in today's episode, I will take you there. As best as I can I lead you in three river meditations with the hope of letting shit go, breathing and releasing all the tension, and being blasted clean by the rushing river. This river has done all that and more it has cradled me, held me, and sustained me especially during this last year and a half. I hope it does that and more for you and if you haven't found a sacred spot this is the beginning of the discovery for you.  Remember who you are You are worth knowing You are worth loving You are worth being in this world I have spent the last 20 years working in and on my own and others' deconstruction and would love to help you find the support, love, and acceptance you may need to walk through this part of faith or the support to find or nurture your own unique spiritual practice. How do we prepare for what is unpreparable while also living in trauma (which we definitely are still living in and through)? Whether anyone acknowledges this trauma or not the trauma is still there and will take time, space, and lots of healthy things thrown at it to move through it.

In this episode, I get into some ways that we can take care of ourselves, our people, and our world. There are things we can do now to help us have tools for the future no matter what that future holds. We don't have to be caught off guard by what might be coming we can take some good care of ourselves by having a mental health preparedness kit to help us know what we need and what our people need. I discuss that here.

What are the crazy stories you have? Stories where EVERYTHING went wrong and you were able to find the strength to get through it, find the comedy in it, and be grateful you are now on the other side of it. In this episode, I get into a recent one of mine and a couple of oldies as well. I also discuss learning to bypass some of those situations, people, and/or organizations.

Part 2 Is the truth of what it really means to be an adult? What does real adult behavior look like? Is it really what we think it is- buying cars, houses, getting that high-powered job? I'm going to get into why that isn't what real adult behavior is at all.

It's good to be back! After a hiatus that went from two months to four, it is nice to rejoin this much-needed conversation with you all. In this episode, I am back at it talking about emotional intelligence and building more of our capacity to love ourselves which changes us and our world. The main theme of this episode is learning to notice and unravel the work of our inner critic. We all have conversations that are going on inside us sometimes those conversations are healthier and more balanced than at others times. But the power and healing that comes from limiting the negative self-talk and even going deeper to dismantle the low hum of the inner critic is life-changing. I'm not going to say it will be easy because hearing the painful ways we talk to ourselves never is but it is something all of us can do. It starts with noticing what you are saying to yourself checked and unchecked and building from there. I also give you tools to practice this awareness building on your own. The book I mention is Complex PTSD: From Surviving to Thriving by Pete Walker. Thank you for listening please like, share, rate, and review. And remember I love knowing what you are thinking and if this is resonating with you.

Welcome to this beautiful interview with my new friend Meketta.Renee, I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed getting to do it. Meketta is generous from start to finish with her story, her medicine, and her person. She imbues everything she does with love, care, presence, and strong community continuity. She is what she does and what she does is her.

In this interview, we talk about her yoga practice, making medicine, how she came to be where she's at, and how those practices influence what she does and how she does it in community and in herself. She is vulnerable and leans into that vulnerability rather than backing away. It is a gift to interview someone that leans that way.

It got a little glitchy at the part where Meketta is sharing where you can find her, how you can support her, and follow all she does so please pay close attention to the links found here: Meketta.Renee's Instagram, Meketta's linktree, and last but absolutely not least her PayPal.

As always, thanks for listening please subscribe, share, rate, and review.

With everything trying to push us back to where we were before the pandemic started I think it's a good time to take stock of where we really were emotionally, physically, spiritually, and where we are hoping to be in the future.

If I really sit down and am quiet with myself what is showing up in my body? Where am I holding tension? In this episode, I take you through a new 3 part body scan that you can either do in 1 part or you can do all 3. It will only take about 5 - 10 minutes. Here is the Body Scan I mentioned from a previous podcast.

I also lead you through a journaling prompt that can help you unlock where you were and where you are hoping to be in the future. What we had before all of this wasn't good for anyone except maybe 1% of the planet. We want more, we need more, we need better, and we are part of how it can get better for everyone not just a small part of the population but we have to know where we've been to know where we want to go in the future.

I have spent the last 20 years working in and on my own and others' deconstruction and would love to help you find the support and the love and acceptance you may need to walk through this part of faith. Meditate by listening to the sound of the waves lapping the shore or fall asleep to the sound of birds, waves, rocks, and sand. It is a little love note to you from me. Recorded on the beautifully raw and wild Washington coast at Miller Peninsula. I hope you enjoy the listen and you feel half as peaceful as I was able to feel.

Know that you are loved exactly as you are, no matter where you are, or what you are going through. Remember who you are. You are worth knowing, you are worth loving, you are worth being in this world.

What is the secret of love and loving? And why do so few of us really know how to love and receive real love? When you read this title think The power of love by Frankie Goes To Hollywood (those of you alive in the 80's or that like old music) that's what was in my head plus a little Tina Turner and What's Love Got To Do With It.

Love can be mysterious. Love can feel selfish. Love can feel like never enough- from you or from others. But love is transformative and when we get a better grip on what it is and how to love ourselves the world looks different and how we are in the world is different as well.

That's what this episode is about. I hope you enjoy it- share it- review it- follow it- do all the things.

In this episode, I get into getting calm- the idea that calm is there for us to tap into at any and every moment, but it might take your creativity to figure out how to do the tapping in.  I give you some practical tips for keeping the process simple and ideas for getting calming tools in your back pocket. What do we do when we are experiencing an avalanche of the bad, awful, painful, terrible stuff as well as living through a global pandemic? There are no easy answers or quick fixes but in this episode, I will take you through some things you can try while navigating everything happening at once: when your car breaks down, your parent goes into the hospital, you lose your job, your pet needs surgery, you get a scary diagnosis, etc. How do you let yourself feel what needs to be felt while also trying to keep it together for those who need you and depend on you? How do you let your guard down and emotions out? How do you accept the good enough and let the perfect go? As always I start with what works or has worked for me.  I take you through easy techniques you can try trusting that you know what works and is best for you. Please reach out and share if these techniques work for you or other things you think we should try. I'd also love to know who you think I should interview or a topic you'd be interested in hearing me tackle. This episode is a deep dive into faith deconstruction. Why is it so isolating and painful? Why isn't it more supported and encourage? Why does it hurt? Where will we end up? Will, we lose our faith, friends, family, church, mosque, temple, our ways of being that are familiar? Will we even be us? I have my own faith deconstruction experience 20 plus years in the making that has shaped who I am and how I see life, faith, spirituality, and relationships and that is still going on it just looks different than when it first began. What I want to leave you with is you aren't crazy and you aren't alone. You aren't crazy and you aren't alone. This is a first! In this episode, I have a conversation with my client Adriana Nicholson. In a recent direction appointment, some things came up that I thought most of us especially women having a vocational call to the church or just being a woman could relate to. Spiritual direction has confidentiality agreements so what happens in an appointment stays in an appointment but after discussing how it could and would go down she was super excited to share her story. Adriana's story is one of having a passion for people and a desire to be a pastor and jumping through every possible hoop, meeting every requirement, then being asked for more, and it still not being enough. She is a talented musician, spiritual director, homeless advocate, and pastor that has been passed over by the boy's club. That group that decides if your good enough, makes the rules, and the jokes while you have to get smaller and smaller and your smallness isn't even enough to get you a seat at the table. This is a story of triumph but not in the way you might be expecting. Adriana is a certified interfaith spiritual director currently accepting new clients and you can find her here. None of us makes it out of this life unscathed. No matter who you are, where you come from, what you start out with- no one makes it out unscathed that is just the way of life. It's hard in the scathing times to not take it out on ourselves, to not destroy ourselves internally, to not do the work of the oppressors for them but I say NO! And also it is a long road to changing the neuropathways toward love for ourselves and away from shame and self-abuse but it is possible. I have personally been on this road a long long time and for the most part, can quickly pull myself out of that destructive self-talk. Does it still rear its ugly little face? Yes, but I can see it and call out the truth much faster than even a few years ago. Sometimes I have to do this truth-telling on and off all day long but I can do it. I mostly do it through therapy, soul-care, positive self-talk, rituals, mantras, meditations, walks with the dogs, nature, candles, tea, etc. Sometimes I have to do it on and off all day just to hold myself together. Holding ourselves together doesn't mean not falling apart but it does mean trying to take the shame away and creating space spaces for the falling apart to happen. We do this by building it for ourselves by telling ourselves the loving truth and shining a light on the false narratives we were given or believed about ourselves. The truth is radical self-love flies in the face of all the shame and shit and helps us live with integrity with ourselves and others. Toward the end of the podcast, I teach you Ujjayi breathing here's a link to the person who taught me Ujjayi Breathing. Be kind and gentle with yourself. In this short episode, I get into the power of setting an intention for the New Year. Letting go of what was and turning your mind, body, and soul toward something new or something you want to add. I am looking over the gift of 2020, all that I've learned, and all that I'm letting go of not silver- lining it holding the nuances of the good, bad, painful, and difficult. Has it been painful- Yes! Am I different- Yes! And I don't want to waste the experience. It's also possible I sang this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUaxVQPohlU Here's to more love in our future! On Christmas Eve I'm sending all the love, care, value, energy I can muster. I'm sending it through this tiny podcast because I know first-hand the power of being reminded I HAVE VALUE! And that my value doesn't fluctuate due to what I can give, make, provide it just is. Your value JUST IS. In this episode, I provide 4 different meditations type things to ground and help you in whatever situation you might find yourself in this Christmas 2020. I tried to keep everything short enough for you to pop into the bathroom, bedroom, closet, or wherever you can snatch a bit of privacy and be present with yourself for 5 minutes or less. The idea is you can download this episode and clue up whichever one you need or gravitate to and hopefully it gives you a little pocket of peace in whatever situation you find yourself in. I decided to do something a little different this week I wanted to take you the listener through my experience in the moment on the fly of trying to manage my expectations while navigating different obstacles and testing if this idea of getting centered in our bodies really works. I also want you to know that you aren't alone while experiencing the disappointments that come with the holidays. Disappointments that are often overlooked and ignored. We can give ourselves space, nurturing, care, and time we need. This might be the secret ingredient that keeps us from doing and acting in ways that don't reflect who we really are. We can help each other get through this time and possibly even enjoy it. I hope this listen helps. There's a little background noise but you can still hear what I'm saying - just watch the ears as the sound shifts. As per usual Kathy Escobar and I cover a lot of territory discussing the things we are most passionate about in this present moment of trying to survive fully intact this holiday season. Kathy shares what the original inspiration was for a Blue Christmas at The Refuge the impetus being on creating a safe place to hold all the difficulties of this season trauma, grief, death, poverty, depression, etc. no feeling is off-limits and you are not alone there. Creating these spaces of safety and inclusivity is something, Kathy excels at and her new book walks the individual, friends, family, ministries, and clergy through loving ways to help and not hurt this season. We all are grieving in some way or another and creating ways to be in the world where this is the norm not the abnormal is creating a better world for EVERYONE! We've discussed our non-negotiables, setting ourselves up for success no matter what the situation was or is. In this episode I get into the Holiday Survival zine I made a few years back. This zine is pocket-sized and has just about everything at your fingertips you could possibly need to help you get through the ups and downs of the holidays (if you are interested in getting the zine email me or DM me and I'll get it to you). One biggie is - What are your expectations? I want ______to do______but they probably will do_____ and how do I prepare for that possibility and not get blindsided like I do every year. Instead, go into the season with my eyes as wide open as possible and still have hope and wonder. I also do a quick dive into owning your NO. My guest is Jennifer Jepsen, you will remember her from Season 2 Episode 1 Stagger That Breathing so much has happened in her life since that recording - she catches us up and gives us some tips on how she's making it.

This episode is full of tips not only for surviving this season but caring for yourself in the best ways possible. We don't have to be at the mercy of someone else's agenda for us, or our time, our mental health, our finances, and all the other potential things that can wear away our peace. We get to decide what feels good and what doesn't! What needs to be chucked and what is a keeper! We get to decide! So give this episode a listen and apply what feels good and throw out what doesn't. Keeping up with an almost 15-year tradition- Holiday Survival Guide is back with the minor adjustment of it being pandemic style (whatever that means). I am a firm believer in prepping myself, clients, friends, and whoever will listen on how to better take care of ourselves during a time of year that can be trying for anyone no matter what you celebrate and no matter where in the world you live. Just take the advice and apply it to any situation that is trying, pushes at your boundaries, asked too much of you, or doesn't listen to your NO. This time of year November- January is potentially full of meaning and significance with a sprinkle of overspending, and not having enough, toxic relatives, the US election that was absolute madness, all of the sickness, death, and restrictions and we have the making for complete emotional, physical, and spiritual overload. Time to take care and reassess what we want so we are not blindsided by what is coming. I make some sweet suggestions I'm sure you'll love and have a short conversation with my brilliant friend and former podcast guest Mollye Glennen. I love hearing from you and thanks so much for listening. You can reach me at angiefadel@gmail.com and angie fadel pretty much everywhere else. What do we do with the let down after holding stress for a long time? How do we notice, nurture, and become aware of the release even and especially when it doesn't show up the way we are expecting?

What does trust look like in the body? How do you build that trust? The trust that our inner voice will not trick us and that we are trustworthy regardless of how we've been raised and what we've been taught- the inner critic isn't our friend and shame doesn't ever help or heal us.

I end this episode with two mindful approaches you can use to build a strong container of awareness.

I decided with everything that is happening in the world- the current state of my own country- the election that still is undecided and that will not really decide anything except to keep fighting for justice. There is no better time to talk about ways to release stress and trauma in the body. Talking about the work of Bessel Van Der Kolk, Body Keeps A Score and Resmaa Menakem, My Grandmothers Hands, and the unlimited ways they have transformed my life with their work.  Fear not, in this episode I will walk you through different ways of releasing stress and trauma in the body, it can be as simple as tapping, breathing, or counting. Here is the link to the shoulder tapping technique I talk about- Quickly Release Stress And Trauma On The Spot. The important thing is getting out the stress and trauma for ourselves, our families, our friends, and the world. My guest this week is Masculine Wholeness Coach, Ron Cecil. We were introduced by our mutual friend and previous guest Darrell Wade of Black Men's Wellness. Ron was good enough to engage in an experiment that most of us white folks are very hesitant to engage in- talking about waking up to the racism that is in us, all around us, that we knowingly and unknowingly participate in. We wanted to model in this episode honesty, vulnerability, and owning the things we've done that we wish we could bury and not admit to.

Ron embraces this conversation with transparency that all white folks trying to look at racism and live anti-racist should aspire to. We sat smack in to middle of the discomfort around having this conversation and tried to not get stuck there but move forward one step at a time. Did we do it all right? No. Did we try? Yes. Is there more work to do? Always.

As always thank you for listening. If you have any suggestions for topics or guests email me here at angiefadel@gmail.com heading podcast. You can find me on all platforms Angie Fadel or Angie Fadel Soul Care

More on Ron- As a Masculine Wholeness Coach, he helps men who are stuck in the western trap of perpetual adolescents and into initiated masculinity. His work is informed by his formal training in biblical literature, 20 years of pastoral training, the works of Joseph Campbel, Richard Rohr, and countless mystics and myths across the world.

Together with his wife, Morgan Day Cecil, created the Romance and Adventure Sutras, a 12 week deep dive into the soul work that leads to transcendent love.

Jr. Lilly is a Native American, part of the Tachii’nii (Red Running Into Water), and born for the Tsenjikini (Cliff Dwelling People). He is a bridge person and by bridge person what I mean is- he is a connector of others and someone who supports the beautiful work of other indigenous people all over the world and in this country. He also works for Portland city government, Portland Indigenous Market Place, and is on the board of the Portland Parks Foundation just to name a few of the things he is involved in.  We talked about the beauty and responsibility found within tribal relationships and the non-dualistic way most Native Americans live. One in which they are not just an individual but a part of the whole, a part of something bigger themselves. We talk spirituality and the role of nature in both of our spiritual practices. We also touch on what I like to call the colonizing of spiritual practices, something that we white Americans have a horrible track record of participating in, not only for our own spiritual absorption but to monetize what doesn't belong to us. We also get into how we can do better and what we can do differently.  Jr. was so generous with his time, life, and experience, as well as stories to help us connect back to the earth, those we care for, and help get us through this time.  Please give it a listen, share it, and subscribe.  Music by Todd Fadel Jr. mentions Randy Woodley and the late Richard Twiss

This episode is a special one. I interview my wonderful friend Vivian Brocato deacon and Punx and Monx co-creator. It is rare in life to meet someone so dedicated to the pursuit of the love of others the people most often overlooked or rejected by organized religion or society in general- the ones that don't fit.

We discuss courageously holding space for grief, rage, lament, and creating space that works to make it safe to feel whatever needs to be felt without shame. Those spaces are sacred and more such spaces will change our world.

There is space for this radical love, especially now.

The first guest of season 3, is my friend and social worker Melissa Trombetta Sollee, MSW. In this episode, we talk about cops and their training in behavioral health awareness and all the ends, outs, and ups and downs of that in the context we are living in in the United States at this moment. We discuss the racist system that devours humans and is set up to fail ALL it's people especially those that are more at risk by the lack of safety nets. We don't pretend to have the answers and are not shying away from the hard questions either. Fear not we also tap into spiritual practices- what is working and what isn't working during the pandemic for Melissa a busy mom of 2. How difficult it can be to find space and time to practice and experiment with what feels good. Melissa is a good sport by being willing to sit in the spiritual direction seat a bit with me as we discuss what might work for her in the phase of life she is living with very little free time and children that need her. Melissa wanted to plug Tobe Nwigwe because his music is giving her life right now https://www.tobenwigwe.com/ Music credit goes to Todd Fadel

Recently, I had a conversation with a friend who wanted to know what it was like in downtown Portland at the protests. From that conversation and because she asked me to do it came this episode. I go deep into what it was like for me personally in front of the Federal building with Feds tear-gassing, pepper-spraying, rubber-bulleting, flash-banging, hitting protesters with batons, and snatching people in unmarked vehicles. And the different emotions I've felt since. Keep in mind I haven't been down there more than 6 times while there have been many others protesting every day since this started- which is over 60 days now so I am by no means an expert. This is just my experience and a chance to give people thinking about going to these protests the lay of the land and others who may have the wrong idea about what's going on down there a clearer picture than the media seems to be giving. Not to scare anyone but also not to give people a false sense of security. It can be scary down there but not from anything the protestors are doing but what the Feds are doing. In fact, I saw over and over people in very stressful situations go above and beyond to keep each other safe and put their bodies on the line to keep black and brown folx safe. These protests are for Black Lives and to dismantle a racist system that targets them. Because Black Lives Matter!

Please give it a listen, do the work to be, and live as an anti-racist!

Darell speaks vulnerability on the painful path that led him to create this burgeoning movement for black men the silent killer - high blood pressure and hypertension and how that killer disproportionately affects black men. Through community connection, his group of men plans to radically shift that statistic by getting men and boys hiking, kayaking, doing archery (with me), healthy eating, and processing feelings (with Chris the Hip Hop Social Worker) and so much more. Keep watching for the beautiful ways these men are going to change the world.

The vision is big but what good is a vision for a better future if it isn't Huge! In this episode, I go deeper into the practice of Free Write Journaling or what I coined as Uncensored Dump Journaling and what this practice has done for me in these last 7 days. It’s been extraordinary - my pain is completely gone and I’m back at my normal, I not carrying the tension I’ve been carrying, my cortisol levels are down, and my body is more relaxed. So in this episode I get into why this is important and how it can make a difference in our day to day. Thank you for listening and I hope you’ll share with me how this helps you so we can keep learning and growing together. If you need further support you can meet with me one-on-one, to book an appointment go to angiefadel.com. In this episode, I talk about my recent work around rage held in the body and how that rage often manifests itself as chronic pain. I had a back flair-up this week that nearly knocked me off my feet and thanks to the work I had previously done with Dr. Sarno and his books Healing Backpain https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/healing-back-pain-john-e-sarno/1006021820 and Mindbody Prescription https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/mindbody-prescription-john-e-sarno/1100308025 and The Body Keeps The Score by Bessel van der Kolk https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18693771-the-body-keeps-the-score and the wisdom of my sister Jessica I was able to go deep with what I'm going to call Uncensored Dump Journaling. This journaling is key to unlocking that rage that can be so hard for us to get at. Even if we are "pro rage" it can feel forced to get at it at the moment we need a release from it. Give this episode a listen and I will teach you how to do this uncensored dump journaling. This journaling can be used for big and small issues, past and present, ongoing, or from childhood, there are no limits. You only have to commit to being 100% uncensored!

In this episode Todd and I have a deep and unflinching conversation about power, privilege, patriarchy, & white supremacy. Looking at the fears and shame that freeze us and stop us from showing up for racial justice. In this weeks episode I get to have a chat with my friend of over 20 years Pipa Gordon. Pipa is a radio and tv host, podcaster, mother, stepmother, wife, friend, and someone passionate for wholeness for themselves and everyone else. We talk about her journey out of the religious dominant family structure- abusive and stifling; finding a path to wholeness and self love with all its bumps along the way; raising children to know and love themselves; juggling jobs, family, blended family, etc. What she is doing while quarantined? What has shifted and is shifting? And of course self-care and spiritual practices that are helping. Pipa is generous with her story and herself! She models vulnerability in front of and behind the camera and microphone. You can find her at https://pipagordon.co.uk/ for everything from her podcast “Inside My Wardrobe” and “The Parenting Podcast”, to her blog, and all the other things she’s got going on. There is some swearing. In this episode I get to talk to people I love while actually seeing their beautiful faces. I took all the recommended precautions for safety 6 feet apart, wore a mask, sanitized everything - phone, hands, before & after each meeting. So I was TOTALLY SAFE. I wanted different insights into how they are feeling with the wear and tear of lockdown and anything they are noticing both positive and negative during this time. First is Todd. Second is Mollye Glennen, then Tamara Bryan, and lastly Crystal Neill. They were all great sports. Music by Todd Fadel You can find me at angiefadel.com

This episode with Rev.Brittany Cane-Conley was recorded pre-pandemic and is as relevant today as it was back in February- trauma leaves a mark that we actively have to work with and on and the tools for one may work for another. The systems of white supremacy that this country was built upon never went away they have only grown more adept at hiding themselves. Charlottesville isn’t a one off and just like Charlottesville this pandemic is shining a bright light on systems of oppression that have been there all along - we can choose to look and not go back to “the way it was” or we can bury our heads in the sand for convenience sake and loose an opportunity for deep change Find Brittany @ https://instagram.com/reverendsmash?igshid=1l1d48igvlvb7 and the lighthouse foundation https://www.lighthousechicago.org/events/lighthouse-foundation-caucus-meeting-2 music by Todd Fadel follow me at angiefadel.com or talk to me on instagram @angiefadelsoulcare
