Ashani Mfuko is a Social Media Strategist, Online Branding Specialist, and Professional Dancer. She uses her passion for social media, digital marketing, and dance, to teach dance artists and dance business owners increase their income, impact, and influence online. With over 10 years of experience in social media marketing and online branding, and over 20 years of experience in the dance industry, Ashani creates customized, high-impact social media marketing solutions for the dance industry, and shows dancers, choreographers, and dance business owners, how to build an online brand that is powerful, and profitable.

Ashani has taught dance classes at The Joffrey Ballet School, Steps on Broadway, Ballet Hispanico, The Ailey Extension, and many prominent dance schools throughout the New York Metropolitan area.
She is accomplished in all aspects of digital marketing, social media marketing, and online branding, and is an award-winning blogger, self-published author, and internationally-recognized media personality and social media strategist for the dance industry.
Ashani is also happily married, and a proud mom of three, young children.
NATALIE DIAMOND
Natalie Diamond is a motivational speaker that’s been featured on websites, blogs, radio shows and speaking events. Natalie received her bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and went on to receive her Masters in Business Administration following that. She was born in Florida evolving into young women with one goal within every speaking engagement, and that is to reach beyond the surface.
Natalie spent most of her younger adult years in the entertainment industry as a model for roughly 7 years. Starting her modeling career in college, she witnessed a lot of unfortunate things that young women go through in this industry that grasped her attention. Eventually she moved to South Florida with a focus on her modeling career in the city of Miami, Fl. Natalie witnessed so much within the entertainment industry that could’ve potentially held her back from achieving anything in life but by the grace of God, she was pulled in the direction of Christianity which changed her life.
When she discovered that life consists of more then just money and society’s version of what beauty is, her life made a 360 degree turn. She quit modeling and founded a ministry called Diamondnu (Diamond In You) where she executes her passion to teach young women about the Lord and the importance of valuing themselves through Him verses what the world portrays to be right. Natalie’s aim is to deliver every message with transparency and truth. She has the gift of reaching young women by telling her story withholding nothing back. Her approach does not cover up reality nor does it place a façade over it. She believes and stays true to this method because it’s exactly what was able to save her from the entertainment industry. ABOUT SUSAN
Born in Spanish Town, Jamaica, Susan Charli Small migrated to the United States of America at the age of 4 where she began attending The Church of Jesus Christ. Raised in church by her beloved grandmother, Yvonne Minnott, Susan was baptized at the tender age of 10 years old. In 1992, she became a member of True United Church of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania under the leadership of Pastor Shawn D. Bartley where she would spend her childhood and teenage years being divinely groomed for ministry. For many years, Susan served faithfully as Youth Ministry Leader and Worship Leader and by studying to show herself approved, was elevated to Evangelist in 2003 and again to Minister in 2012 and has continued flourishing in ministry.
Susan has had the opportunity to facilitate numerous workshops and conferences throughout the tri-state area. Additionally, she has served as worship leader for well known ministries in Philadelphia such as The First Baptist of Oakeola, Church of Christian Compassion, Holy Temple of Deliverance, Acts of Random Kindness Christian Center, along with many others. In the process of leading others in worship over the years, the Lord laid it upon Susan's heart to pen her own melody to Him - and along with composer and producers, Keran Sabir and Shawn Bartley, she wrote a song called "Lead Me", which she released in May 2018. This anthem of worship is one of many to come from the heart of this worshiper.

Joyell is a racial and gender justice strategist, educator, and restorative justice practitioner. Her professional background is in education, reproductive justice, international civil and human rights law, race and equity, transitional justice, community outreach, and reconciliation. She has worked with the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, UN Special Tribunal for Lebanon, government agencies, nonprofits, and public schools in Baltimore, Eastern Shore, Boston, and abroad. Joyell combines her eight years of experience in education, ten years in nonprofit organizations, and seven years of social justice advocacy to create harp + sword, which focuses on bringing equitable change and joy in tandem by using restorative justice cross-generationally. Additionally, Joyell currently serves as a board member for Community Law in Action and member of Circle of Restorative Initiatives for Maryland.
Joyell received her B.A. in Black Studies from Washington College and her J.D. from New England Law | Boston. She utilizes her legal and public interest skills to address the intersections of race/ethnicity, equity, gender, incarceration, and health.

After working in education for seven years, the nonprofit sector for nearly ten years, traveling and working in twelve countries (and counting), we noticed a common narrative -- we live as individuals rather than community members by merely existing together instead of living together. This separation can especially be seen inter-generationally and across racial lines. For women and girls, the absence of intentional spaces for our identities and experiences to be fully embraced is far too prevalent. And so, harp + sword began. By focusing on the marginalization of women and girls of color, we tackled all related forms of marginalization impacting various underrepresented groups.
In addition to addressing institutional and systemic issues, harp + sword curates joy for women and girls to show up as their whole selves. harp + sword is partially inspired by Zora Neale Hurston, a pioneer in racial and gender dialogue, folklore, and culture during the Harlem Renaissance. Hurston chose to hold space for herself in a world that would not return the favor.

Saturday I had the opportunity to minster in Chester, PA at the Living Waters Church Back to School Event. Pastor Michael Heath is a cool dude...he's a rapper and everything, lol! It was a blessed event.

As an artist, there is a certain joy that comes with making something from scratch and calling it your own. I mean, to see the creation and fulfillment of something that started off in your mind is an amazing feeling.
While it is always a point to make original music for the masses, there are times that you want to give your take to classic hit songs. Because we live in a world where anything is possible, you have the liberty to record a cover song and to legally make money from it.

Last week, I posted a short video and post about How to Copyright Your Music. It has received a great deal of attention and much of that was because I didn't talk about the, "Poor Man's Copyright." I was flooded with messages about how mailing one's music and not opening the envelope is an acceptable method of copyright. So this post is going to explore this method and why I believe it is best to invest in your music and copyright the full proof way.

It is imperative that Worship leaders take care of their voice. The position can be extremely demanding depending on the number of services one has to lead on a given Sunday or even through the week. Many vocal coaches suggest that singers should stay away from cigarette smoke, coughing and clearing your throat, and excessive and loud talking. There are also several foods that you should shy away from before you get ready to minister. This podcast will give you insight into the different foods you should avoid before you sing.

As songwriters, recording artists, etc. copyrighting our music is one of those essential things that get ignored. If you’re anything like me, I wish I could just live in the creative space and never have to worry about legalities. Unfortunately, people like to steal (yep…i’m that blunt kind of chic), so copyrighting your work is necessary. May I be transparent with you? Creating radio-ready/sellable music is not cheap. I’ll be honest it is downright expensive! There’s the cost of buying a track or paying musicians to go into the studio. There is studio time, mix and mastering, vocal lessons to prepare, the list goes on and on sometimes. So once the music is ready for the world to hear, the biggest question is, “How do I get my music into the earbuds of potential fans?” and the next question is, “How do I recoup the money I put out?” Listen I understand that our music is our ministry, but there is definitely a business side to the ministry.
When I released my very first single, “Here I Am,” April 2014, I was torn between putting my music on Soundcloud or Spotify. The reason being that both of these platforms allow the music to be heard for free. So what’s in it for the artist? Here’s the quick scoop on each site.

First let’s examine why your cover art is even important:
The “Face” of your Music: Your music tells a unique story that only you can tell. Your cover art is a visual extension of what people will hear. Think about it, Christmas projects always have a theme of the holiday on the cover.
Used for Digital Distribution: If you are planning to make your music available Tamika Hall Show Podcast Art through outlets like iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Tunecore, CD Baby, etc. Cover Art is a requirement.
Used for Radio Distribution: Do you want your music heard on the radio? Radio stations want to see the unique cover art associated with your music. Internet radio uses the cover art when they stream
So now that you know why the Cover Art is important here are seven things your Cover Art should NOT include:
Title of a project that is different from what is being released. If you are only releasing a single, the title of the single should be on the cover even if your single is going to be part of a full project later.
Contact Information such as Website URL’s, Email, Booking Information, Social Media Contacts, should not be on the cover of your music. Remember you are selling the MUSIC.
Cost- the price of your project should never be printed on your cover art
Store Logos like Amazon, iTunes, etc. They are not endorsing your work
Words that date your project like, “Newest Release,” “Latest Single,” should not be used.
An artist name that is different from the name you used in the release information. Not sure how else to say this, if you list yourself as the artist for places like iTunes, then make sure you use that name on your cover art.
Pictures and Names of People who are not actually on the project should not be used. Let’s say you covered a song by a well-known artist, you cannot use their face and name on your project.
When you ready to create your Cover Art keep this in mind:
Great Designs Are Paramount- Don’t utilize the online creation tools by places like Tunecore because everyone uses them. You want your cover art to be unique
Blurry Photos from your phone are a hot mess, lol! Use high quality photos on your cover art.
Interesting but readable font is the icing on the musical cake. Times New Roman is wonderful font that is easily read, but it isn’t interesting. If you wanted to use it, I would use it on the back of your cover art (if you are selling physical CD’s). Fonts like Edwardian Script are pretty but they are very difficult to read, so find something that is both appealing and readable.
When your cover art is all created in its musical glory, make sure it is sized to 1600 x 1600 pixels. Digital stores require this size.

With all of the Social Media Platforms available to use it can be overwhelming to determine which platform will work best for your ministry. In this post you will get an overview of what each platform is and how it works, from there you can decide which will work best for your ministry. While many ministries are still a little leary about utilizing social media, a great deal of ministry goes forth on the internet. Matthew 28:19 teaches us to go into all the world and preach the Gospel. The beauty of leveraging social media is that we can impact people all around the world for FREE.

So I went into prayer and asked God to share with me the lesson I can learn from this.
Some of the lessons I learned from this were:
- In order to fulfill our assignment we have to risk being unpopular (Jeremiah 1:8)
- As a Worship Arts Minister we challenge beliefs...but it doesn't always have to happen with us raising our voice and being confrontational
- We 'perform' for an audience of One
