Dogs.
They’re companions, guardians, and much much more – they complete us. And they just might save us from ourselves.
Anna Webb explores all levels of modern dog ownership and brings to life why every dog is extraordinary.
She speaks to scientists and experts - people who have and are changing our understanding of dogs - on everything from emotional intelligence to nutrition to behaviour, delving deep into subjects like homeopathy, telepathic communication and the pet food scandal.
It's thought provoking, alternative, and not a little subversive.

This week we’re joined by the amazing animal lover Lucy Meggeson to talk about her cat called Johnny Depp. On the rare, yet significant appearance of a cat on A DOG’S LIFE, is to celebrate cats and pay tribute to Anna’s late cat, Gremlin, but also to talk about Anna’s and Lucy’s mutual connection, which is Johnny Depp.
Lucy's own ground breaking podcast - Spinsterhood Reimagined - dares to investigate the elusive yet secretly celebrated world of Spinsterhood. What it means and its growth as arguably a very cool demographic. More importantly why Spinsterhood is growing and how Lucy helps empower women in a world where conventional ‘almost Victorian’ values are increasingly misplaced.
We discuss all the animals who have impacted on Lucy since childhood, and why her cat, Johnny, fulfills some inner nurturing instinct. We also discuss why Spinsterhood could be enviable for some, and chat about the episode Anna recorded with Lucy revealing her meeting with Johnny Depp one evening in Soho.

This week we’re joined by artist, Robert Clarke, known for his stunning portraits of dogs. Talking to us from NYC where he moved from London, we chat about the differences in dogs and their people across the pond, but why commissioning a unique piece of art is still considered a ’must have’ for dog owners. As one of the first artists to focus on dogs back in 2010, Robert’s first A-Z of dog breeds was exhibited in the Rebecca Hossack Gallery in 2012. We chat about one of Anna’s most coveted possessions, a portrait by Robert of Molly her first Miniature Bull Terrier painted in 2011. It’s Robert’s style that brings every dog to life using a canvas and the structure of paint and colour to capture a dog’s unique personality. Having studied at St Martins, Robert is no stranger to a range of subjects and projects not least his latest A-Z project looking at Montauk in New York state, south of Long Island. We chat about his up-coming new A-Z of dogs, which will be created and available to buy in time for Christmas. As an update to his original A-Z of dogs circa 2012, this will highlight the shift in breed popularity to include more doodles. We calling out to A DOG’S LIFE listeners to contact Robert with your ideas for the new A-Z (watch this space on Instagram). And of course to get your order in time for Christmas!

This week we’re joined by Jordan Shelley, Behaviour & Training animal welfare expert. We chat about his campaign Flop Not Crop and how he has raised awareness about the cruelty of cropping dogs' ears, which is illegal in the UK. Stopping nasty ear cropping kits (legal in the USA), from entering the UK by banning their sales online to the UK, and helping to curb this barbaric ‘fashion’ trend in certain breeds. We talk about re-introducing the dog licence and Jordan discusses his role at Animal Licensing Wales. We also discussed banning sales of dogs and live animals on the internet and the huge disappointment in the shelving of the Animal welfare (Kept Bill), and the impact of this in terms of dog welfare in the UK. We chat about the XL Bully and why adding this ‘breed’ onto the Dangerous Dogs list won’t really make any difference to reducing dog bite incidents, rather it lies in more education and a centralised approach.

This week we're joined by Trainer & Behaviour expert, and Groomer, Deidre Ryan, whose book Trained Puppies Don’t Bite Children has to be the best dog training book Anna's read for years! Simply laid out in 100 short chapters with perfect illustrations, the book is based on the principles of the Sunday Times bestselling book “French children don’t throw food” by Pamela Druckerman. Deidre explains why she noticed she was raising her children in a similar way to how Deidre had raised her own five dogs. She realised that there were many parallels when it came to raising puppies and decided to write a no-nonsense approach for pet parents. We discuss the term pet parents and concur we are dog owners. Nevertheless in her book Deidre explains: "in the parenting book there is a ‘cadre’- a framework for how children are expected to behave. It combines “a little bit of strictness, with a lot of freedom”. My dogs are allowed lots of off leash freedom on walks, but I insist on a strong un-negotiable recall. We also talk about the animal welfare crisis in Ireland and how Deidre is supporting Dog Advocacy Ireland.

This week we’re joined by Amber Pegden, Marketing Manager at The Picture House Central. Based in Piccadilly in the heart of London’s Theatreland and Soho, it's also home to very special dog friendly screenings. Amber has been instrumental in creating this extremely popular dog-centric cinematic experience. She chats about why as a dog owner herself she understands why fellow dog owners would prefer to go and see films with their dogs. Interestingly it's not to see Lassie or 101 Dalmatians, its the latest ‘blockbuster’ movies. We talk about how Anna’s own Mr Binks is a seasoned cinema goer, and how Prudence, Anna’s Bull terrier, went to see the multi-award winning Isle of Dogs, created in Hackney in London. Amber highlights the thought behind her project which includes a seat for your dog that’s included in the price for a single human seat. On entering the Auditorium dogs are offered their own blanket to keep their seat dog hair free, with fresh bowls of water dotted around for the dogs. There’s dog-friendly ice cream on offer, and of course dog-friendly popcorn too. We chat about the joyous spirit of these screening where like minded folk get together and celebrate their dogs. Its a chance to sharpen their training, as well as meet and greets. As Anna’s personally most favourite thing to do as an inspired concept taking dog friendly to new limit. What’s extraordinary is that the dogs really enjoy it and settle. In over six years there’s never been a complaint about dog hair or any allergic reactions! It has to be experienced to be believed! Later, Anna joins her friends Jo Good, Henry Brandman, and Caroline Brill, all with their dogs to see the Barbie Movie.

This week we’re joined by Dr Daniel Allen, Animal Geographer at Keele University, and champion of Pet Theft Reform. In the wake of Government shelving what was called the Animal Welfare (Kept Animals) Bill, Dr Dan, along with pet theft campaigners including SAMPA (the Stolen & Missing Pets Alliance) and Vets Get Scanning, to lobby Government hard again to bring in a separate law with appropriate penalties for stealing all pets, but mainly dogs who have been victims of organised crime for decades. Brought to a head in the pandemic when the demand for puppies outstretched supply, along with prices for puppies soaring to ridiculous levels, canny criminal activity reached preposterous levels with scamming, stealing dog in daylight, breaking into private gardens and more. As a crime with little consequence under the antiquated Theft Act 1968, dogs are classed in law as chattel. This means that stealing dogs is a low-risk, high-gain business for criminals. The penalty is the same for stealing a laptop, a phone or a car. During the pandemic there was much talk of creating a specific law that factored in the enormous emotional attachment between dogs and their owners and the trauma to individuals suffering from this ‘abduction'. We discuss this at length not least that science now concurs that dogs have emotional intelligence -they are not chattel. So Dr Dan has launched a new petition to re-galvanise Government to take action - please sign the petition!!!!

This week we’re joined by Dr Lise Hansen who returns to talk about the latest science behind neutering and spaying. We last recorded an episode about this same subject three years ago, it seems that the messages from a raft of science on the side effects of neutering is yet to filter down into routine Vet practice. Dr Lise explains that the issue surrounds the reproductive LH Hormone, which continues to be produced by the brain even when the sex organs are removed. This hormone accumulates in the body and becomes out of balance, creating health issues from osteoarthritis, cancers, to hypothyroidism. The science is only 10 years old, and change can be slow to take effect. But according to Dr Lise this is the biggest news in the Veterinary world, which she predicts that in 10 years time, neutering will be considered not only an unnecessary, but unethical procedure. Dr Lise points out that in Norway it is already illegal to neuter unless for extreme health reasons, and in Scandinavia generally it’s frowned upon as a practice compared to the complete opposite in the USA where Dr Lise thinks that a possible alternative like vastectomies for dogs and ovary sparing spays for bitches will become the norm, in the USA, but for now Dr Lise encourages you to read the science much of which is included in her book : The Complete Book of Cat and Dog Health.
The Complete Book of Cat and Dog Health is published by Hubble&Hattie and is available everywhere you buy books including Amazon. It contains a full chapter (16 pages) covering the topic of neutering including alternative surgeries and the implications of living with an entire dog. It also lists scientific references.
Read all about this and more in Dr Lise’s book: The Complete Book Of Cat And Dog Health

This week we’re joined by Mahny Djahanguiri (DogaMahny). Mahny is the UK and Europe's leading founder and author of DOGA -Yoga for you and your Dog. She is also a Ashtanga yoga teacher with whom Anna has practiced both Yoga and Doga.
Seven years ago Mahny learnt of Puppy Yoga and began delving deeper into these classes, which were benefiting from the success and growing recognition of Doga. Thanks to her determination she was thrilled that she helped an ITV investigation of this new trend and its exposé recently aired on mainstream national UK news.
Mahny is passionate about Doga as offering a therapy for you and your own dog. It is not related to this new trend in any way. Doga practices the principles of Yoga: positive energy, mindfulness: kindness and altruism as part of Ayurvedic culture.
The ITV News investigation by Sam Leader, Daniel Hewit, and Imogen Barrer uncovers the dark side of a growing wellness trend, Puppy Yoga.
In a world where influencers are continually looking for the latest social media trend to jump on it seemed that puppy yoga, the practice where young dogs roam around your yoga class, was a perfect fit. On the face of it, the events provide an enticing mix of cute animals in a relaxing environment, creating images that are perfect for sharing on social media. But the ITV News investigation offers a glimpse into a differing reality than those filtered Instagram videos might lead you to believe.

This week we’re joined by Phil Green, animal advocate, dog lover and proud pet parent to Scarlett the Beagle. Rescued by Freedom for Beagles in 2016 from a toxicology laboratory in Hungary, she had been bred by Marshall Bio Resources at the huge HQ in New York for the purpose of vivisection. Scarlett is one of the very few lucky ones enabled freedom, aged only two years. Both Phil and Janie Green had their names down for a rescued Beagle, understanding the long socialisation journey ahead. Scarlett adapted very well to her rural life in Essex, and enjoys the sights, sounds and smells of woodlands, and outdoors that she was deprived of. Scarlett has helped raise awareness of the atrocities that these Beagles endure in their very short terribly sad lives. In the hands of ‘white coats’ that justify their salaries from private ‘Big Pharma’ firms making everything from cleaning products to headache pills. The practice of vivisection is morally and financially bankrupt in an age when we have advanced technology that can do testing more economically, accurately, and without causing huge suffering to animals - in this Beagle. Scarlett has become the face of many campaigns , not least The Camp Beagle, to raise awareness and urge the public to support her in getting vivisection - the dark secret - raised in Parliament, get legislation amended in line with the Animal Welfare Act.

This week in loving memory of Gremlin, tune into my chat with Dr Zazie Todd - CompanionAnimal Psychology - talking about her book Purr. In our conversation on cats , the lack of science on their behaviour (compared to dogs), I recount several hilarious anecdotes on Gremlin, which will make you realise why I named him Gremlin, the lengths he went for to help Molly when she was poorly, and why Gremlin was quite a cat for someone’s first feline! He is so missed, but I hope is he is reunited with Molly across that rainbow bridge.

This week Brenda Stowers joins us to chat about Le Pet Express. Her passion to offer straight forward service to travel in and out of the UK began with her own experience when relocating from California into the UK. She flew into France because dogs and cats can travel in the cabin as long as they fit in front of your airline seat. From Paris they entered the UK on a ferry in a rented car service. Coordination took months of planning and a lot effort to find a trusted provider to cross the Channel. The only other option was to put her cats in cargo and fly direct into Heathrow. The issue with traveling in the hold as cargo means you lose control, and it can be super stressful for your pet. Le Pet Express lessens this anxiety, whether you’re relocating, or popping over to Paris for a long weekend, or driving traveling onward into Europe. Le Pet Express offers help with all the newly complicated paperwork, and Brenda handles bookings and holds customer’s hands through checking the minute details of the Animal Health Certificate needed for British pets to enter France. Having designed the minibus especially to accommodate five pets and their people in line with DEFRA’s regulations, Brenda has traveled with Great Danes to Chihuahuas, Ferrets and of course cats. Le Pet Express is an ideal option for larger dogs that cannot travel in cabin due to their size, which puts owners off taking them abroad.

This week Anna is joined by PDSA Vet Sean Wensley chatting about his book Through A Vet’s Eyes. As a candid exploration of how we live with animals in the modern world, Sean explains why we mustn’t lose touch with nature and all animals in the natural world. They offer stark contrast to our farm animals and pets being kept in captivity. We discuss the importance to understand the Five Domains: Nutrition, Behaviour, Physical health, the Environment, and the Mental Health of all animals. In the wild animals these domains are provided naturally through survival, but Sean argues we can all do better to ensure the well-being of all animals in our care. He chats openly about his experiences as a bird watcher noticing how captive birds display behaviours that indicate stress, unhappiness and boredom. We talk about why play with dogs and cats is better than food as a way of engaging them and tapping into their natural instincts. We talk a lot about farming and how our perceptions of food, and meat have changed in the past few decades. How consumers can drive change creating a demand for ethical rearing and practices; about understanding the natural collaboration between animals and humans, and why we could all do better especially under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, itself a radical step change, the details of which are often misinterpreted, overlooked, or ignored. We also chat about Government and the new Sentience and Kept Animals Bill that still awaits its airing date.

This week Anna is joined by Dale Nash from Pawable to discuss the first collagen (Collar-gen) for dogs. As the market booms in humans for collagen (and for good reason) it's important to understand that just as it depletes in us as we age, the same is true in our dogs. Not only 100% natural, the Collar-gen is species appropriate and easily absorbed through the gut. As a very important structural protein abundant in all our cells, it helps with mobility, skin & coat and digestion. The success of Collar-gen since its launch earlier this year is testament to its efficacy, vouched for by Anna’s dogs Prudence and Mr Binks. Her cat Gremlin is also taking it, proving how it can be taken by any mammal. NEW to Pawable’s range is Calming which is a supplement packed with a combination of anti-inflammatories and anti-bacterials that combine to boost the immune system, respiration, and brain health. Like a multi-vitamin, it offers a multi-purpose supplement combining of herbs like Thyme, Chamomile, and Ginko along with Phytoplankton, Coconut oil, Gogi berries. Offering value for money per serving, it's something to think about for Christmas.

This week Anna welcomes back Dr Amit Patel and his famous Guide Dog, Kika. We chat about a new programme on Cbeebies called Dog Squad which is all about teaching children just how amazing dogs are in helping their owners. For Dr Amit, Kika is his eyes. There are four other superhero dogs featured: Tinks, Sylvie, Meagaidh and Diesel. They all have amazing jobs! We chat about how the TV show also aims to break down preconceptions on disabilities, and explain why dogs can help people live independent lives. Giving an educational view on dogs and how they help people is going to inspire the next generation to understand dogs, and look at disability in a new light. Dr Amit talks about how he is an Ambassador for Guide Dogs having had his life transformed by Kika, and he speaks out as to why Assistance Dogs should never be refused access; how some venues, taxi firms and more refuse Kika entrance which is against the law. Dr Amit also chats about Kika and Me the best-selling book highlighting their journey. As Dr Amit admits he was skeptical a dog could help him as much as Kika as. He also announces a huge piece of news, that his book is going to be made into the film! More on that in another episode coming soon!

This week Anna is joined by Roz Lishak co-founder of By Benji to chat about Trick and Treat on Howl-O-Ween. We chat about the range of unique Biltong beef treats that are made in the UK by slowly air-drying the beef in a herbal marinade for extra tenderness and palatability. And why By Benji is all about championing healthy species appropriate treats to complement a healthy natural diet for your pooch. Anna is conscious that many people forget how treats count to the overall health and calorie intake for your dog. And why using high value rewards you can train the most complex ticks, but above all it's about training the basic cues, not least the elusive recall that is essential in today’s busy public spaces. Roz highlights the range that includes enrichment chews, handy training treats, the biltong sausage varieties that are softer and crumblier, ideal for older dogs and puppies. And there’s the Biltong food topper, which is great to get fussy eaters eating. Ultimately Roz champions training and using the delicious biltong to bring joy to both the dogs and their pawrents.

This week Anna is joined by Bill Lambert from The Kennel Club talking about London’s biggest dog event - Discover Dogs 15-16 October at the Excel Centre. It’s a doggy dream day out for all dog lovers, especially those aspiring to bring a dog into your life. As a fun weekend highlighting a host of dog activities like Agility, we chat about how over 150 dog breeds will be showcased by their officiados, experts in every breed. It gives people the chance to get up close to the dogs they may have thought would be a perfect match. But may realise that a bark-less Basenji may be more suitable for their experience and lifestyle than a Bassett Hound. There’s the return of the hugely popular ‘Cuddle Corner’, which allows visitors to relax, and de-stress by stroking a host of different puppies and dogs. Apart from an opportunity to enjoy retail therapy galore, there’s a chance to listen to experts, and watch Medical Detection Dogs in action. Plus there's the penultimate Scruffts competition, with the finale at Crufts in March 2023. And for those football fans there’s the Woofball world Cup where Barkelona and Woof Hound United compete in the main arena. There’s also plenty on the British Vulnerable Breeds, those that for some odd reason have fallen out of popularity. That includes A DOG’S LIFE co-host, Mr Binks, an English Toy Terrier, who is technically more rare than a giant panda!

This week Anna is over the moon to get the scoop on a new charity - Assistance Dog Assessment Association. She is joined by two of the Trustees, Richard Mearns and Selina Valentine, along with Richard’s Assistance Dog, Ziggy. We chat about why the charity has been launched; namely to clarify what defines an Assistance Dog in the UK. Often Assistance Dogs that are not partnered with a visible disability can lead to confusion with service providers and businesses. Especially with the discussion between what constitutes an Emotional Support Dog and a Mental Health Assistance Dog. We also chat about why independent assessment run by expert trainers can allow for more dogs to be trained and qualified as Assistance that perform tasks, helping their client navigate the world with task related assistance. Selina talks about her own assistance dogs and how they have helped her, and why she is passionate to help others find an easier way through assessment and qualification achieve their goal to benefit from a dog by their side. We chat about the team of experienced Trustees coming from a variety of charities and dog focused organisations, which is key to getting it right in the owner trained sector. We talk about raising awareness and how to donate.

This week Anna is joined by Georgina Montagu talking about her new coffee table book Top Dogs: A British Love Affair. The book reflects Georgina’s own passion for dogs, especially Poodles whilst celebrating the special relationship between beloved British dogs and their devoted owners. We chat about some of the many intriguing personalities featured from The King’s Consort, Camilla Parker Bowles, to Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jasper Conran, and other Architects and the other famous, creative and hyper-successful people who have one thing in common when it comes to their canines: the strength of the bond between human and four-legged friend. Exuberantly photographed by Dylan Thomas Top Dogs is not only wonderful eye candy, but it's a book about love and the great leveller that is man’s best friend.

In this episode Anna talks to Chocolatier, Paul A. Young in his small shop in Camden Passage, Islington, London. As well as the UK's leading maker of fine chocolate, Paul is an author and more importantly proud dad to Billy, a minature Dachshund. Chocolate is obviously bad for dogs but not for Pet Parents. Paul and Anna sample some of his treats and talk about how he needs to keep 'his work' away from Billy.

It's 'Back to School' time and in this episode Anna talks to Debby Lucken, creator of a new programme 'Kids around Dogs'. What should be a natural relationship, kids and dogs don't always get along. Some children are frightened whilst others are over confident around dogs they don't know, which can lead to stress and even worse. Debby has designed a course that teaches children to respect dogs and to learn to read their body language.

This week Anna is joined by Andy Pearce, CEO of Petcover Insurance. As an expert of many decades in the filed of pet insurance, we chat about why a dedicated pet focused insurance company is the best to opt for. Specialising in animals should mean that representatives are understanding to your needs, and be familiar with the treatments and emergencies that pet owners will be claiming for. Launching Petcover a year ago into the UK market, it is a long established insurer in Australia. We discuss the differences between the UK and Australia, and he answers a lot of questions from the issues with pre-existing conditions, accidents, lifetime cover and why insurance firms often do not pay out for dentals and issues with pet’s teeth.
We also discuss the caveats that are common with insurance policies including annual boosters, insurance for only one condition - once. And why that can be an issue for pet owners who have not read the small print, or don’t understand why an ear problem can only be claimed for once. We chat about Petcover and why as a firm it is passionate about education, helping pet owners make the right healthcare choices to keep their pet in optimum health. And why as a firm they are all about happy, healthy pets!

We also talk about how inspiring pets can be, as noted in the book Women and Dogs, which features Billie Holiday, Bridget Bardot, and Janis Joplin who Collette portrays in a one woman play with live music called Tomorrow May Be My Last. This week Anna is joined by Debbie Matthews from The Stolen and Missing Pets Alliance (SAMPA) and by Amy Wigg - co-founder of the new Pet Database, talking about National #CheckTheChipDay, and raising awareness of the importance to keep your pet’s chip up to date. Amy Wigg chats about the newly launched Pet Database, that is the first microchip database that is not only free for pet owners to upload and easily access their pet’s chip, but is also 100% DEFRA compliant. Unlike other big databases it's high tech design ensures maximum security and peace of mind, whilst easy to navigate for pet parents. We discuss why having several databases can confuse and slow the process to be reunited with their owners. With one database arguably similar to the DVLA system, there would be less confusion through centralisation. With certain database functions (in line with data protection), the Pet Database offer features that can help trace your pet, and unlike others, is free no matter how many times you change your details. #makechipscount.

This week Anna is joined by Will Green MA, Executive MBA Programme at the University of Winchester and Sales and Marketing Director of Paleo Ridge. We discuss sustainability in the pet industry, focusing on the model adopted by Paleo Ridge as a raw food firm supplier, setting eco-standards in terms of making feeding raw not only ‘peace of mind for your dog', but also for the planet. In an age where Veganism is being suggested for dogs we discuss why ethical farming is needed to save the planet and maintain the bio-diversity without which the planet cannot thrive. And why of course dogs need to eat meat! Will explains the different aspects in Paleo Ridge’s production that offsets Co2, and why we shouldn’t consider dog ownership as contributing to global warming, but consider the offsets in Co2 that can be achieved simply with the the mantra: reuse, reduce and recycle. And never underestimate a dogs role as man’s best friend, helping to better our physical and mental health.

This week Anna is joined by Kate Bendix, a friend for over a decade, to discuss worms! Kate runs Worm Counts for Dogs, an online service enabling you to test your dog for worm eggs. We discuss why doing a worm count test four times a year will give you a good insight into how your current wormer is working. It will also allow you to only worm your dog when a worm count test comes back with a positive result. Choose between a worm egg count, a lungworm count or their combo worm and lungworm count tests. Kate explains why there’s also a test for Giardia, and why #TestBeforeTreat is a manta embraced more commonly in the EU.
We chat about diet and why feeding raw helps keep your dog’s immune system healthy and flea and ticks bites minimised. Kate has written books including My Itchy Dog to help pet parents find natural solutions to stop the the itch. Kate also authored the book The Dog Diet and writes for various companies and newspapers.

This week Anna is joined by Tess Eagle-Swan talking about her book Incredible Kratu, a Carpathion/Mioritic Shepherd cross puppy who captured Tess’s heart from a photo on Facebook. This was at a point when Tess needed to change her life. Wanting to escape the rut of London life that was spiraling out of control, Kratu offered the solution as Tess’s salvation. The book is the story of soul mates brought together by chance. The story of a pup born in a Roma Camp in Transylvania who has gone on to become an International canine treasure. As a trained assistance and therapy dog he has brought joy to millions through his antics. But the role he’s played in Tess’s life is compelling. This week Anna is joined by Martin Williams, the founder of London’s premier steak houses, M Restaurant and Gaucho. He chats about why he wanted to open his restaurant’s doors to dogs at a time when the concept of ‘Dog Friendly’ hadn’t reached the mainstream. Proud of his decision to incorporate special ‘six-leg’ menus and events for dogs and their people to enjoy, the space at the Victoria flagship restaurant lends itself perfectly being so spacious, it can easily accommodate a Christmas party of rover 80 Guide Dogs - just one of many events he’s hosted in aid of charity, and offering great fun for all alike.
He explains why it is not ‘illegal’ to invite dogs into a restaurant, so long as common sense prevails and there’s space to offer those not dog friendly to also feel relaxed. He also chats about his Labradoodle, Hudson, who left his legacy on the restaurant, always remembered through some artworks, and branding as being Martin’s inspiration to be so #DogFriendly. His young Labradoodle, named Wilbur and Mr Binks enjoyed meeting and recording in person too!

This week Anna is joined by Sarah Jones who rescued Bella eight years ago and soon discovered Bella was very nervous and reacted when her space was invaded by other people and dogs. Realising that the majority of dogs display some sort of anxiety, and are reluctant to socialsie with unknown doggies, Sarah devised a range of yellow leads, collars, bandanas jackets in yellow , which is the colour recognised to highlight that your dog needs some space. Understanding that thousands of dogs suffer with being reticent about being approached, Sarah launched #DogsInYellow a dedicated day to celebrate nervous dogs, and celebrate their differences, rather than be misunderstood. So the range of yellow accessories continues to expand. It’s the Yellow army.

This week Anna is joined by Dale Nash from Pawable who chats about a new Collar-gen that’s been launched for dogs. From the makers of a human collagen called So Body Co, the Collar-gen for dogs was inspired as customers would ask if they could give the human brand to their dogs. Being passionate about preventative care, and prolonging longevity, Anna couldn’t wait to find out more about this product, and discuss the benefits of Collagen as a supplement. As a structural protein, it's known for helping joint health, but also as being a structural element of all our cells. It helps with cellular energy, processes, immune responses, cellular communication , and processes for tissue maintenance, especially in the intestinal wall. We chat about why to add collagen to your dog’s diet helps dogs especially those on processed diets, but also allows to know your dog is taking a bio available source of collagen.

This week Anna is joined by Sarah Hollinshead, Head of Brand & Content at Attest, which is one of the largest consumer SaaS platforms. We’re chatting about a new study that reveals that Brits are still barking mad about dogs. Flying in the face of the soaring cost of living pet parents prioritise their pets and go the extra mile, notably taking the time to shop at their local pet boutique, rather than online. The research confirms that dogs and cats are important family members. Brits are making a significant effort to make their pets feel a part of everyday life - from birthday celebrations, to home-cooked food and regular outings. Moreover the research reflects the changing face of pet ownership and the huge impact pets have on our lives - for the better. It appears Britain is still a nation of animal lovers!

This week Anna is joined by dog Behaviourist, Karin Lee, who talks about her working Bloodhounds who have helped the police with man-trailing and tracking down people, a bit like in the movies. We chat about the Bloodhound as one of the oldest breeds, and their superior olfaction which has been deployed over the centuries. Bloodhounds were used in the search for Jack the Ripper, and Henry the Eighth loved hunting with them. Bloodhounds became famous again in the 1970’s for being the face of the Bonio advert. But sadly the breed is now in decline, as a British Vulnerable breed, and facing extinction. Not a breed for everyone, but one that clearly has captured Karin’s heart. We discuss scent work in detail and why any dog can benefit from the enrichment of tapping into their nose potential.

This week Anna is joined by Annie Wilson who has launched a petition to lobby Government to ensure that dog breeders health test all their breeding stock; and to act responsibly, putting health and temperament before profit. With only 30% of all puppies bred being registered with the Kennel Club and even fewer being Assured Kennel Club breeders, this leaves an enormous gap where testing is concerned. Despite new legislation for licensed dog breeders being introduced, it still leaves breeding of dogs with known health conditions up to the individual breeders, many of whom will still breed for an unhealthy dog for profit. Causing huge heart break for those taking on a pup that in Annie’s case suffers from elbow dysplasia is a long painful journey through that dog’s life.
We chat about her Bernese Mountain Dog called Button and how aged only four, she has suffered with complicated surgery, rehabilitation and lack of early socialisation that is all down to her breeder being irresponsible. Annie has launched a petition called What’s In My Genes to lobby Government to enforce health testing and to set up a databased where parents’ test results are logged making breeders accountable, basically enforcing the recommendations and health tests already stipulated in certain breeds.
Button has taken Annie on a jouney and a quest for healhy, happy dogs, please sign the petition.

This week Anna is joined by Michelle Southern, Founder of Street Paws. Celebrating the charity’s sixth birthday, it's raising awareness of rough sleepers and their dogs with a national 274,000 steps challenge.
We chat about Michelle’s commitment to help the rough sleepers and homeless community with dogs, and how the charity was born. Supplying dogs with everything from vital vetcare, microchips, medication, food, blankets, coats, collar, their outreach teams help hundreds of dogs a month.
Michelle and Anna discuss why dogs are so important to the homeless community; they are literally all these people have. They also talk about why they are so committed to them and why they have a better life than many dogs as they’re with their human 24/7.
But as the bond between them is so tight it can cause problems to find pathways for the homeless. All because so many hostels and social accommodation still refuse dogs. And no one is prepared to abandon their loyal best friend.
The 274,00 steps challenge is a national campaign and aims to raise awareness for the estimated 274,000 people that are now homeless post pandemic, with thousands more likely to lose their homes.

This week Anna is joined by Catriona Lowry from The Hilltop Sanctuary in Ireland. Catriona gave up a career in fashion to dedicate her life to helping animals. Not just dogs, but pigs, donkeys, chickens and a lot of horses. In a country where there appears to be an abject negligence to the health and welfare on many animals, it was a Fortune Teller that predicted Catriona’s journey. Setting up the Hilltop Sanctuary has changed Catriona’s life, and made her realise the importance of helping creatures with no voice. Whilst a baptism of fire for her, this episode certainly highlights that some animals can indeed benefit from the luck of the Irish. We chat about her ongoing campaigns to fund this not for profit organisation, highlighting some terrible cases, but always with a smile on her face and a touch of lipstick.

This week Anna is joined by Singer-Songwriter, Chris Amoo. Famous for being the lead singer in the band British Soul group, The Real Thing, Chris has always had a passion for dogs, particularly hounds. His love of Afghan Hounds led him to start competing at dog shows, and to even scoop the highest doggy accolade Best In Show at Crufts in 1987 with his Afghan Hounds called Viscount Grant. More recently he has turned his attention to the Irish wolfhound, the largest breed of dog. As a British Vulnerable breed, the Irish Wolfhound is technically rarer than the giant panda. Chris will be showing at Crufts, but he is also a judge and ambassador for the hound group. He chats about Crufts is a celebration of things dog, and what his dogs have taught him.

This week Anna is joined by Kerry Taylor, Education Manager, at The Blue Cross talking about the charity’s 125th anniversary. As a milestone highlighting the work the organisation has achieved across two World Wars and recently through the pandemic. Launching the first animal hospital in 1906 the Blue Cross has adapted to provide welfare for all animals as our lives have changed over the years. Offering education over loss, whether pets have passed with old age or been stolen, or if someone has had to give up their pet in rented accommodation, The Blue Cross's bereavement service stands alone. Championing all animals, the charity’s initiative in this anniversary year is to focus on education about health and welfare from rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, horses, cats and of course dogs.

This week Anna is joined by Rick Akers who talks about why he wants Justice For Reggie - a yellow Labrador pup who tragically died only a few days after he was brought home. A victim of the unscrupulous and callous puppy farming trade , little Reggie had short life and a painful death. Rick launched a petition to stop sales of animals online, at least to ensure traceability and accountability. Discussed in Parliament a month ago, he updates us on progress spearheaded by Government involving DEFRA, advertising standards, and welfare organisations. The question remains: should living sentient beings be bought and sold over the internet?

This week Anna talks to comedian, writer, and podcaster, Cally Beaton, as she embarks on getting a new puppy. Anna has mentioned in the past what potential new pet parents need to consider before committing but in this episode Anna takes Cally step by step on what she need to be thinking about. Cally has now found a reputable breeder and is awaiting the birth of her puppy at the end of March. A life long animal lover and current cat owner, Cally's growing desire to get a puppy was confirmed when Anna was a guest on her podcast earlier this year. But as a working comedian and someone who travels a lot, there was a lot to think about first. Anna provides the answers all potential pet parents need to hear.

This week Anna is joined by Comedian and Writer, Juliet Meyers, talking about her rescue dog Homer. As a Portuguese rescue dog, Homer transformed Juliet’s world and we chat about how little by little Homer successfully worked his way to becoming the theme of her stand up comedy. Using her platform with comedy, Juliet chats about raising awareness for dogs, venues being dog friendly and of course the trials and tribulations of juggling a career with a wily street dog turned key comic effect. With a remarkable ability to read the room, and knowing when its his turn on stage, Homer has succeeded in alienating some, but in the main winning people over proving the realm of comedy is might indeed be going to the dogs!

To kick off the New Year Anna is joined by Trainer & Behaviourist, Victoria Stilwell, all the way from Atlanta. With Victoria’s second series of It’s Me Or The Dog being aired, we chat about this and the landmark first series that aired in the UK in 2005. Victoria explains that the doggy problems are the same as they were in the first series, but more intense as our lives have changed, not least because of the pandemic. If trained dogs are happy dogs, they make for happier pet parents! Victoria champions the term ‘teaching’ over ‘training, and about empowering pet parents with the skills to get the best out of your dog. And why in #NationalWalkYourDog month, getting out with your dog is the best way to start 2022.

This week Children’s Author, Jane Elson, joins Anna to discuss why animals, especially dogs, feature in her books. Dyslexic herself, Jane writes for those with reading difficulties, highlighting how animals - dogs in particular - help children in so many ways, not least in learning to read out loud. In her multi award winning ‘Moon Dog’ , she depicts the horrors of the puppy farming trade. Raising awareness for the next generation of dog owners, she worked with the charity All Dogs Matter to convey the horrific details, and the effects of losing a puppy on the whole family. In her latest novel Storm Horse, inspired by the racehorse Seabiscuit, who in the 1930’s represented hope for the Americans struggling through the Depression; and why history can inspire the present. Jane also highlights why horses help build children’s confidence, helping them learn to read and be in the moment. Weaving characters through her series, she’s inspired by London and the legacy of her own kitten called Crayon who sadly died very young.
Published by Hachette, Storm Horse and Moon Dog both mark the era of the pandemic and work on several levels making them great for grown ups too!

This week Anna is joined by author, Janetta Harvey, who is also the founder of SchnauzerFest.
Supporting Schanuzers needing care and forever homes, it’s also a hub for Schnauzer owners. Inspired by Janetta’s first rescue mini Schnauzer, Susie-Belle, who was scarred being bred on a puppy farm in horrific conditions.
Passionate about campaigning to ban this evil trade, Janetta rescued one of her current four schnauzers, a boy named Albert Claude, from the one of the UK’s largest puppy farm (Eric Hale’s in NI, he was exposed in a Panorama documentary, the Dog Factory, in 2016, did nothing to stem let alone stop his horrific business), he was sold in a pet shop and given up to a rescue the next day (aged 5 months),
Her other three - Renae, Cerise and Angel are also puppy farm rescue dogs. She chats about why ending puppy farming is clearly very difficult, and discusses how hard it is to rehabilitate dogs exposed to such atrocities. Why she does this in Susie Belle’s memory, which was the subject of her book 'Saving Susie Belle'.

On this week’s show Jennifer Berezai of Advocats East Midlands joins Anna to discuss the landmark Heads for Tails campaign, which is about lobbying for change for lets with pets. Aiming to bridge the gap between renters with pets and private landlords operating a no pet’s policy, Heads for Tails aims to encourage insurance policies that cover both the landlord and the pet owner. Despite Government’s ‘Model Tenancy Agreement’ recommending that landlord’s are pet friendly, this remains a set of guidelines only. Jennifer aims to offer solutions to enable ‘renters’ to enjoy the massive health benefits of pet ownership that has been displayed through the pandemic. Ending the sad fact that 55% of Britain’s population cannot own a pet simply down to Landlords’ imposed no pet clauses.

This week Anna is joined by PC Colin Nash and his PD (Police Dog) Elvis. As the proud winners of the Rising Star Award at the inaugural Thin Blue Paw Awards, two year old Elvis is not Colin’s first PD, but he is his first Labrador. It’s perhaps no surprise that Elvis is excelling at being a passive and proactive detection dog. He was bred by the Metropolitan Police before joining the City of London Police Dog Unit.
About the Thin Blue Paw Foundation:
The Thin Blue Paw Foundation is a national dog welfare charity which protects, celebrates and rehabilitates both serving and retired police dogs from across the United Kingdom. The Foundation was founded by a group of individuals who are passionate about improving the health and welfare of serving and retired police dogs across the United Kingdom.
Many people are unaware that retired police dogs do not receive financial support in their retirement from the force they served with, meaning the responsibility for their care and vet bills fall solely to their ex-handler or new owner.
Unable to get pet insurance due to their working life, many are left with ongoing vet bills which can amount to thousands. The Thin Blue Paw Foundation provides much needed financial support to over 280 unsung canine heroes and their owners to enable them to have a long and happy retirement.

This week Anna is joined by Beverley Cuddy who amongst other dog-centric roles, is one of the Patrons of SAMPA - the Stolen and Missing Pets Alliance. They chat about the great news that government are introducing new legislation - the Pet Abduction Law to make penalties for dog theft in line with the crime. With specific legislation that recognises that dogs are clearly not ‘property’ or chattel with consequences of up to seven years in prison for ‘abducting’ a dog. The hope is that dog theft will decrease.
A long time coming, this law has been campaigned for years, not least by Debbie Matthews, and Vets get Scanning. For years criminals have optimised a loophole in the Theft Act 1968 where dogs have been previously classified along with laptops and lawnmowers!
The surge in dog theft through the pandemic when the demand for dogs outstripped their supply, made national headlines and brought the attention to the pain and suffering and complete devastation that stealing someone’s dog has on families.
Government’s change to classify dogs separately and not as part of the Theft Act 1968, which clearly has left families vulnerable to nasty criminals, has been spear-headed by Sir Iain Duncan-Smith. Having championed #PetTheftReform, he has helped bring massive change in only a few months. And a major move under their new Animal Action Plan which aims to make Britain a leader in animal welfare globally.
The term ‘abduction’ implies another aspect of their ‘plan’ to classify animals as sentient beings, which is significant and in line with modern socio-economic trends where dogs are now firmly considered as family members and not as property under the Theft Act 1968.
We are living with dogs in such different ways now, and dog ownership has soared compared to back in the day as we seek dogs constant companionship, their skills as de-stressors, and their gateway to the outdoors.
Discussing the positive changes Government have initiated, we also discuss why the legislation around Breed Specific Legislation isn’t as positive, where sadly only two MP’s attended a debate in parliament on its possible change much to the disappointment of the dog community.
In Beverley’s long standing position as Editor of Dogs Today Magazine and founder of Tailwise we also talk about why Beverley has launched a new Awards called the Bark Marks. Recognising successes in the dog world from best TV Vet to best Politician, how chuffed were we to get the scoop that A DOG’S LIFE has been nominated for ‘Best Dog Podcast’, which made our day!
Chatting about the recent amazing success of Operation Ark to evacuate NOWZAD’s animals and team, headed Pen Farthing, out of Afghanistan. And wonder who might play Pen in the movie!

This week Anna goes to the very first PAAWstival: a festival where Pets Are Always Welcome.
The event was held at the uber dog friendly Happenstance bar and restaurant owned by Drake & Morgan. Not only hosting the biggest Charity dog show, Anna takes the opportunity to meet up with old friends and new. She talks to Alistair Mullens of This Is Vertus - the key sponsor of the event - whose new pet friendly apartment blocks are flying in the face of discriminatory landlords.
She also catches up with some of the judges, Nikki Tibbles, Founder of the Wild at Heart Foundation and host of Pod People Productions' Dog Bless You; Musician and Actor, Collette Cooper; and Photographer, Joseph Sinclair.
Aside from various stalls and exhibits, the main event was the picking a winner of the seven finalists in different categories. In the end, there was a three way tie and Anna gets the reaction of the joint winners Teresa Keown and Belhina, Joe Hepburn with ex racing greyhound, Rudy, and Adam Jarrell with Dexter, and of course PAAW House founder and organiser of Paawstival, Gabby Kuehn.

This week Anna is joined by the vet, Dr Nick Thompson, to chat about a campaign he is fronting called ‘Ditch The Dry’. Talking about ‘ You are what You eat’ and why overly processed foods like kibble, compared to fresh raw balanced complete meals, are damaging to your dog’s health; and why pet parents could do better by their dogs, helping to minimise common but serious health conditions like diabetes, arthritis, heart disease and obesity.
Passionate about highlighting why common dry food ingredients like rice, barley, maize, or corn, make high glycemic diets, which are pro-inflammatory and not species appropriate. And why an anti-inflammatory diet made from fresh meat and botanicals - like many complete balanced raw frozen options - simply promotes optimum health by using quality species appropriate ingredients like fresh, ethically sourced meat.
Anna and Nick also discuss whether it’s ethical for dogs to be Vegans, and de-bunk the notion that dogs are ‘omnivores’, when dogs are simply biologically and physiologically designed to be faculatative carnivores - complete with a carnivorous digestive system.
Both Anna and Nick are on the same page on nutrition, and as a vet Nick has been fighting for responsible, species-appropriate raw food feeding for over 25 years.
They talk about the international Raw Feeding Veterinary Society (RFVS), as a great resource. As the founding member Nick highlights his pioneering worldwide survey of 79 vets and their experiences feeding raw food.

This week seasoned Broadcaster & Journalist, Stephen Jardine joins Anna to chat about his puppy: Frankie , the Norfolk Terrier. Having lost his beloved Cairn terrier Billy aged 13, it took Stephen and his family a while to bring another dog into the family. Billy left them heart broken. Understanding that the same pain would inevitably happen again with another dog, Stephen and his family resisted another dog. But believing a house is not a home with a terrier, Frankie - the Norfolk terrier recently moved in. We chat about the trials and tribulations of staycationing with a cheeky puppy terrier, the joys of experiencing the beaches, and Cornwall’s dog friendliness, not least that dogs are a social network without technology. We talk about both the positive and negative effects of the pandemic on dogs. And discuss regional differences as both Stephen and Anna have lived and worked in Paris, so they chat about why Paris bucked the trend as perhaps Europe’s most dog friendly capital, way before the value of ‘hound pound’ hit the UK. We discuss what it is that connects us to dogs and vice versa. Highlighted by the iconic statue of Greyfriars Bobby , the Scottish Skye Terrier. Legend has it that Bobby lay beside, guarding his masters grave for 14 years until Bobby passed away. Quite the tourist attraction, the statue, which is also a drinking fountain, was erected in his honour on Candlemaker row, opposite the graveyard where he spent 14 years of life. Stephen regularly hosts the mid morning show on BBC Radio Scotland and more, as well as writing a Food column for The Scotsman.

This week Anna meets up with Author & Journalist, Genevieve Fox, and her Miniature Schnauzer, Pepper on Hampstead Heath. Retracing their time training on an ‘experience’ walk, where Anna highlighted some training tips. That walk was for an article in The Observer magazine about walking your own dog, and how it helps your dog’s and your own well-being. Passionate about punctuating your dog’s day, and building proactive games into an everyday walk for extra enrichment. Anna demonstrated how to connect with your dog and make the walk interactive. Genevieve and Anna chat sitting on a log that became a fun agility obstacle. They chat about why its important to train a perfect recall, so your dog is never a nuisance to other people or their their dogs. Why spending quality time with your dog means you get to know your dog. And why training and adapting life around your dog through their life stages helps keep them on the ball, and reduces anxiety. But they also discuss how dogs enrich our lives, often in times of crisis. Apart from highlighting how Pepper helped Genevieve and her family through the Lockdowns, but when Genevieve was diagnosed with cancer. We chat about her book, Milkshakes and Morphine and why Pepper helped the family cope and pull through this testing chapter. We talk about how social media influences are connections , even to dogs, but ultimately why a house is not a home without a dog!
Grab a copy of The Observer today to read all about it.

This week Anna is joined by Comedian and Award Nominated Podcaster, Rosie Wilby, talking about her new book The Break Up Monologues: The Unexpected Joy of Heartbreak. Using her own experiences and those of some others, Rosie investigates why life can be like a palindrome: going backwards and forwards. The book discusses how tragedy through time becomes comedy, and how we learn from our mistakes, as we try to understand ourselves through others. Pets feature as a major strand through the book as highlighting why they can save a relationships, and equally work to break them up - It’s me or the dog type scenarios! Brilliantly written, very funny and sad, it's a roller coaster and a thought provoking look at what makes us human. And why pets, dogs in particular, perhaps can humble us into understanding the truth - and that really dogs are ‘man’s best friend’ being able to to truly offer what we seek in people - unconditional love.

This week Judy Phillips, co founder of a new British petcare company called Sniffe & Likkit, joins Anna to talk about their range and brand ‘philoso-woofy'.
The Sniffe is the key aspect across its grooming, fragrance and gifting products. Understanding that a dog’s sense of smell is over a million times more sensitive than ours, Sniffe & Likkit’s 100% natural aromatherapeutic scents won’t get up your dog’s nose. Rather dogs will love the signature fragrance: Woodland Wonderfur running in its grooming range.
Formulated using essential oils like Cedarwood, Pettigrain, Vetiver and Ho Leaf. It’s aim to calm and soothe dogs, and bring the great outdoors into your home, and regular pampering routine. The aromatic scent is alluring and good for humans too!
Created by experts from the human world of natural skincare, but tailored for dogs. Thoughtfully designed in stand-out recyclable packaging, Give a Dog a Cologne, Wippets Cleansing Wipes, Fragrant Fur Coat Shampoo and The Fab Paw Conditioning Balm combine ingredients like Quillaja Bark Soap, White Willow Bark extract, Aloe Vera, Ho Leaf and Paw Paw. There’s no hidden nasties and it’s pH balanced for dogs.
The range taps into the demand for more natural alternatives and a transparency about ingredients that have been ethically sourced. And an understanding that spending time with your dog cannot be underestimated.
The inventive products are catering for modern dogs with an ethos about building the bond between dogs and pet parents through grooming and pampering. And for dogs on the go that might need a freshen up before going into the office, or dog friendly hotel!
The range also features Glove My Dog a towel that designed like a giant oven glove that uses fabric made from sustainably sourced bamboo. Tapping into a dog’s sense of smell there’s the home barking kit to that will get your dog’s tongues and tails wagging.
And for humans the scented gift cards allow humans to spread the kindness and 'scents' a message. With the range for the home the Scents Something Nice is an air freshener that’s crafted into hanging sachets, and features another signatory scent: Cedarwood From The Trees - naturally banishing any wiffs in the home, car, office - anywhere!
Sniffe & Likkit most definitely is not to be sniffed at! Check out their whole range at sniffeandlikkit.com

This week the RSPCA’s Dog Welfare Specialist, Dr Sam Gaines, joins Anna to discuss the latest on Breed Specific Legislation. Following a recent debate in Parliament prompted by a petition urging for reform as the 30th Anniversary of the Dangerous Dogs Act (1991) approached on August 12th. We discuss that as a ‘nation of animal lovers’ the UK is behind other countries in its approach to dogs and public safety. The banning of four breeds: the Pitbull, the Japanese Tosa, the Fila Brasiliero, and Dogo Argentino has not worked with dog bites rising year on year. We discuss other approaches not least education, bringing back dog licences, new bylaws that would be in the public’s safety. We chat about the potential of an independent review and study to ascertain whether certain breeds are more ‘dangerous’ than other breeds or cross breeds. If the independent review concludes there is insufficient evidence to support the Governments position on BSL, the hope is this aspect would have to be revised. Why introducing mandatory training and education courses for minor offences, similar to speed awareness courses for drivers would help nip problem behaviours in the bud, and offer support. We also highlight that currently animal welfare charities like The RSPCA are bound by law not to re-home breeds of a certain ‘type’, even if they are temperament tested to be sound. Victims of certain measurements currently means that these dogs have to be destroyed. Causing heart break for vets and the staff, it's also an unnecessary waste of life and costs to these organisations. The current approach to dog control is plagued with deep structural problems, not least judging a book by its cover. Improvements to public safety that simultaneously safeguards animal welfare can only be achieved through an open minded engagement with new strategies. Currently the Government’s lack of action on this front shows a disregard for dog welfare and is at odds with its proposed Animal Action Plan to bring in animal welfare legislation that sets a global precedent.

This week Anna is joined by Steve Ignorant, the lead singer of the anarchic punk rock band, The Crass. He’s chatting about why animal activism was very much a part of the sub culture of punk rock. And he explains why he is so passionate about animals and why he despises all cruelty and neglect. Being a massive dog lover he is supporting the campaign Say No To Dog Meat, particularly in line with the recent barbaric Yulin Festival that has happened again in Beijing. Dogs are often cooked alive in what is a new festival set up in 2009 in a bid to honour ancient ‘dog eating traditions. Say No To Dog Meat is a charity headed by Julia de Cadernet whose team based in Beijing works tirelessly to save dogs from Chinese meat markets and re-homes dogs globally. Steve is also passionate about Bull terriers having been owned by them for 24 years. We chat about their quirks, and why they’re simply a breed apart.

This week Fi Harrison, Fundraising Manager, from Birmingham Dogs Home joins Anna to chat about their ‘Healing Hearts’ appeal. It’s aim to raise £100,000 to help pawly pooches by investing in the own veterinary facility. Currently the Charity’s veterinary costs is over £200,000 annually in addition to the staff and running costs of their two facilities. The long term saving of an in house veterinary clinic will allow for more funds to spend on the rehabilitation of their dogs like Spike a Bulldog puppy with serious health issues and deal with emergency cases expediently as well as day to care care. Birmingham Dogs Home was founded in 1892 and is the key rescue covering nine local authorities in the Midlands. With an in flux of ‘pandemic’ puppies likely to hot our rescues as one fifth of new owners are regretting their lockdown decision to bring a dog into their homes, there’s also been a rise in dogs with chronic health issues from obesity to deep rooted anxieties.
