Calorie Deficit: The Real Key to Effective Weight Loss! On todays podcast I discussed the fundamental principle behind successful weight loss.THE BIG SECRET.... the mighty calorie deficit! Instead of asking yourself:"What supplements should I take to speed up my progress in the gym?"Ask yourself what you should be doing better thats going to get you to the goal..You are doing all the right things:You are sleepingYou are eatingYou are movingYou're most likely just eating too muchYou're not sleeping enoughYou're not moving enoughSo instead of relying solely on supplements, it's essential to shift our focus to creating a sustainable calorie deficit. So, why is this approach so powerful? Let's get into it What is a calorie deficit? It simply means consuming fewer calories than your body needs to maintain its current weight. By creating this imbalance, you force your body to tap into its fat stores and gradually shed those unwanted kilos. Its really simple.. don't over think it Here are a few reasons why being in a calorie deficit is the key to effective weight loss:No Magic Pills: Supplements may promise quick results, but they can never replace the importance of a calorie deficit. They might offer temporary changes, but long-term success comes from sustainable habits.. eating less, sleeping more, training consistently.Sustainable Lifestyle: Focusing on a calorie deficit encourages us to make healthier choices in our diet and lifestyle. It's about nourishing our bodies with nutrient-dense foods, portion control, and finding enjoyable ways to stay active. Customization & Flexibility: The beauty of a calorie deficit is that it can be tailored to each individual's needs. It's adaptable to personal preferences, making it more sustainable in the long run. You have the freedom to choose the foods you love while still achieving your weight loss goals. Remember, weight loss is a slow process, and healthy habits are developed one day at a time.Focus on creating a sustainable calorie deficit through a balanced diet, portion control, and regular exercise. Stay consistent, be patient, and celebrate your progress along the way! Hope this helps!
Myth Debunked: Late-Night Eating = Weight Gain!
Is this fact or fiction?
By the way that was a good show back in the day..
Anyway back to the myth..
Have you ever heard the myth that eating late at night causes weight gain?
Let's set the record straight!
Will eating pizza make you gain weight if you eat it before bed?
The truth is..
When it comes to weight loss its not the timing of your meals that determines if you gain weight…
It’s not your hormones while they do play a factor..
but rather the total calories consumed throughout the day..
Whether you eat early or late, if you consume more calories than your body needs, you will gain weight..
Let’s not over complicate this..
If you are truely eating 1200 calories a day (tracking every single lick, bite, sauce to the gram) and you’re not losing weight chances are your metabolism has adapted to low calories..
Which means that you’re not in a true calorie deficit..
What truly matters is the quantity of the food you eat..
Remember, managing your weight is a result of overall energy balance: calories in versus calories out..
How do I calculate this with my clients?
I get them to track 3 things:
Their weight Their calories (food) Their daily steps
While calories are super important when it comes to losing weight, sleep & daily stress also play significant roles in weight loss..
In conclusion to my TED talk..
If you find yourself reaching for a snack late at night, choose healthier options..
An apple will fill you up much more than a Monte Carlo biscuit (while they’re so good )..
To finish..Late-night eating alone does NOT cause weight gain.
Focus on a balanced diet, portion control, and an active lifestyle to maintain a healthy weight.

Eating clean, whole foods is a great way to fuel your body and promote overall health, but did you know that it's possible to still gain weight while following a clean eating plan?
This is because the term "clean eating" doesn't necessarily mean low calorie or low fat.
In fact, foods like nuts, avocado, and coconut oil - which are considered "clean" - are also high in calories.
Restrictive dieting and cutting out entire food groups can lead to overeating and binges.
Eating a balanced diet that includes a variety of foods and allows for flexibility is key for both physical and mental well-being. Remember, it's not about being perfect, it's about making healthy choices in a sustainable way.

I want you to look one week ahead..
It's New Year's Day, and you have a clean slate.
I don't know if you are one to make New Year's Resolutions or not, but either way you're probably thinking about how you can become fitter, healthier and happier than you are right now.
Am I right?
These 7 Fitness and Fat Loss Tips will get you on the right track for this New Year:
Visualize the accomplishment of your goals each and every day. I know this is hard to do, especially when you don’t trust yourself but forget about failure think of what would happen if you committed for the next 12 months. Go there mentally and experience the taste of success and feel that sweet satisfaction.
Push the intensity of your workouts. Don't kill time, burn calories by maintaining a challenging intensity. Do this by lifting heavier weight or doing an extra rep or two.
Keep a food journal. The awareness this brings is ridiculous. Just by you being aware of what you’re eating and how much you’re eating effortlessly reduces calorie intake and promotes weight loss.
Build accountability into your workouts so that you resist the temptation to take days off. The best way to ensure accountability is to work with a personal trainer either one-on-four or in a group training setting (I know a guy that can help).
Believe in yourself. Know with conviction that you CAN accomplish your goals. Every time you hear that negative voice telling you that you can’t or that’s impossible, catch yourself and keep believing.
Drink water throughout your day. Do this by carrying a water bottle and opting for water rather than soft drinks or juices. This simple action is extremely beneficial.
Maintain your metabolism by eating protein with every meal. Remember protein is the driver of building muscle. The more muscle you can build the faster your metabolism!
Hope these helped!

Should you eat 6 meals a day to burn fat?
Should you be eating 3 meals a day to burn fat?
Should you be eating smaller meals throughout the day?
A lot of has spoken of meal frequency for fat-burning purposes.
People claim that , “Eating 6 smaller meals a day will boost your metabolism.
Some problem will even tell you that how many meals you eat is more important than calories!?
The truth is that if you eat 6 small meals a day or 3 bigger meals you’re metabolism is smarter than you.
You’re not going to bust through your plateau by chance.. or maybe you will.
The research has shown time and time again that it doesn’t matter how many meals per day are consumed.
What matters most it total energy balance that drives fat loss.
This simply means you need to know two numbers:
The energy you eat (calories)
The energy you burn (steps)
The studies show no difference in fat loss when calories are equated.
As always hope you got some value from this show.

The real reason why your no longer losing weight eating 1200 calories..
Is it normal to lose weight when starting a diet then for weight loss to stop?
Is it normal for you to gain weight around your cycle?
Is it normal for weight to fluctuate 1-2% daily?
Is it normal to hit a plateau?
Yes.. it’s 100% normal and it’s not your fault..
This is your body’s in build self defence system and it’s sole focus is not to get you lean and slimmer in your bikini.
It’s sole focus is to restore your body’s depleted energy reserves.
As you know if you’ve been following my content for long enough the only way to lose weight is by a calorie deficit aka an energy deficit.
Simply put:
You can eat less energy aka calories
Or you can burn more calories aka walk more/train more
When you start a new diet your most likely restricting calories (well if you’re losing weight you definitely are) or else you wouldn’t be losing weight.
Your body needs the energy your taking away from it (by eating less or training more) so once it notices it’s missing energy your body’s main defence system jumps in to limit energy deletion because it needs this energy for your organs to function.
The term is called ‘metabolic adaptation’.
The result of your body’s defence system is a slow in your over all metabolic rate which means that those 1200 calories you were once eating and you were once losing weight on easily will no longer work because your body has become much more efficient in preserving energy in order to prevent weight loss.

In order for us to maintain our bodyweight our body has a home it lives at.
As long as your calories are consistent, your training is consistent, sleep is consistent and your steps are consistent you will stay here.
If you want to gain weight you must eat more than your body’s baseline (home).
If you want to lose weight you must eat less than your body’s baseline (home).
This home is called ‘homeostasis’.
When eating below this baseline your body is constant fighting against you in an effort to reach homeostasis aka your previous base line.
When you hit a plateau and your body has reached homeostasis metabolic adaptation occurs. This is nothing more than a plateau to keep things simple.
Your body will naturally get you to burn less calories resulting in you to stop losing fat even though you’re eating a level of calories that was once allowing you to lose before.
All of this is normal…. Super normal.
When a plateau occurs, dont get all poppy pants as David Goggins would say..
You simply need to tweak the stimuli.
You can either:
Eat less calories
Walk more
Train 1 more day

Does Eating Carbs Cause Weight Gain?Good question… let’s debunk this myth. The idea that eating carbs can cause you to gain fat even if you are in a deficit is a completely false claim..It’s impossible! If you are eating the right amount of calories you should be to lose weight..If you are doing the right amount of activity daily that you be doing should to lose weight..It’s IMPOSSIBLE for you to gain weight REGARDLESS of how many carbs you’ve eaten that week..Even if you have high insulin.. if you are doing all of the right things with food, steps and training the ONLY way you will gain weight is if one of these 3 things are effected:#1 - You start eating more#2 - You start walking less#3 - You start training lessThis has been proven over and over again by several labs.It is IMPOSSIBLE to gain weight in a caloric deficit. If you gained weight, you were not in a deficit. You could have:#1- Not tracked your calories 100% that day#2- You could’ve had a bad nights sleep#3- You could’ve done less steps#4- You could’ve not trained as much or as hard as you did the previous week.Hope this helpsWant more free content?Join my free facebook community: https://www.facebook.com/groups/541693343223692

Happy 2021!
First podcast of 2021 and today I was joined by two amazing coaches Tyler Newton and Jillian Smith. Both are NCI certified nutrition coaches and shared some great insight into their keys to their client success'.
The question was whats your one key to Fat Loss for someone just getting started on their fitness journey.
We shared some stories from what we have seen from past clients, whats worked and its simpler than you think!
Before I got into fitness I would work 6-5 most days tiling, on rainy days I would be in a factory packing boxes or cleaning up the warehouse, fixing displays etc.
I would come home and barely have any energy to hang out with mates. I would literally have mates come over at 6pm and I would be asleep on the lounge.
I was not a morning person.
While I grew up playing sports I was not an athlete.I was not always driven, I had no idea about nutrition or training however I was a decent drinker (haha)
Clients come to me and say I’m not a morning person.
I can’t lose weight, I’ve tried everything.I’m too tired after work.
I’ve been there too. I’ve gone to the gym confused and had no idea what to do, or what machine to use, I’ve done a lot of diets and blamed every single one of them.
Change is uncomfortable, I hated getting up at 5am and training, I didn’t want to go to work after then go to tafe at night, I didn’t want to stop going out every weekend but I knew if I didn’t change nothing would change for me.
I was tired of being tired.
The reason why I’m writing this is because I was talking to a younger kid this morning who has ambition and is seeking change but its uncomfortable not only for him but for his circle of friends.
Change is very lonely, not many people will understand it because you’re going against the pack, they don’t have to get it because what they want won’t fulfil you in 10 years.
I feel deep down people want to change but they’re scared of what other people will think about them changing, so they would rather stay the same, do the same things just to keep these ‘friends’ happy.
If you really want to change you can change. 12 years ago I was a completely different human and I’ve still got a lonnnngg way to go.If you’re unhappy you’re not stuck.
Change direction in 2021

This is a question I saw this morning I thought I might break it down.Question: “If the goal is fat loss, would it be better to fast two Seperate days a week, (currently fasting Tuesdays and Thursdays) or do two days in a row, so fast all of Tuesdays and Wednesdays?”
Before I get into this this is a perfect example of quantity of food.
If fat loss is your goal you must know your quantity.
The ONLY way to lose fat is by being in a calorie deficit (eating under your calorie budget)
The ONLY reason why this fasting approach would work:Look at your weekly calories as a weekly budget. Before you started fasting for two days lets say for example you were eating 3000 calories for 7 days.
Monday you eat: 3000 calories
Tuesday you eat: 3000 calories
Wednesday you eat: 3000 calories
Thursday you eat: 3000 calories
Friday you eat: 3000 calories
Saturday you eat: 3000 calories
Sunday you eat: 3000 calories
Your total budget at the end of the week was: 3000 calories x 7 days = 21000 calories over the week
You add in two fasting days on Tuesday and Thursday (where you are eating less)
Monday you eat: 3000 calories
Tuesday you eat: 1500 calories
Wednesday you eat: 3000 calories
Thursday you eat: 1500 calories
Friday you eat: 3000 calories
Saturday you eat: 3000 calories
Sunday you eat: 3000 calories
Your total budget at the end of the week was: 18000
There is no magic here all that happened was you consumed LESS food on Tuesday and Thursday which made your total budget lower than the previous week. While there are some benefits when it comes to fasting when it comes to fat loss all that fasting does is forces you to EAT LESS food on that day.

The McDonalds Fat Loss Study Ryan Williams did his own study where he ate nothing but Mc Donalds for 30 days straight to prove a point that you could lose weight while in a calorie deficit.
What they found was he did lose weight as main component that determines weight loss is calorie control.
Regardless of what you’re eating, restrict calories and you will lose weight..
Sounds simple right? So what is the argument?
Weight loss and Fat Loss are not the same thing
Let me explain.
What they found was that Ryan Williams did lose weight but he lost muscle and held onto fat.
How does this happen?
Protein is your body’s main building block. It helps you preserve muscle, when we don’t priorities protein and food quality we end up losing the wrong kind of weight (muscle being one).
Nobody wants to be skinny fat. This is why we need to look beyond the diet.
Calories are important but Protein should always be married with Calories and a calorie deficit to see success.
Why are there some people that achieve what they want and some that don’t?
This is a question I’ve become obsessed with because if there is a human on this earth driving the car you want, living where you want to live, wearing what you want to wear, looking how you want to look why cant you achieve that?
The truth is we can.
What makes us happy is progress in anyway. For example: I want to lose weight and get in shape so I buy a gym membership (which is progress). Step 2 which is showing up to the gym is where we go wrong.
Why does this happen? Why don’t we follow through?
We all have our own world view shaped from our past experiences. These past experiences shape what we think our true potential is. Lets say you signed up for the gym in the past or you tried a previous diet. You had a bad experience, you failed to show up to the gym, you failed to lose weight on that diet so the next time you sign up for the gym or you try the next diet your world view has already been shaped from these past experiences.
Most of us have a belief which has been shaped from previous experiences about our true potential (what we think he deserve) and that belief effects what kind of action we take, which effects the results we get. Get poor results again and again thats how we start to lack belief in ourselves because we feel nothing we can do ever works which reinforces our potential.
If you believe that theres very little potential for you to lose that 10kg you want in order to fit into your favourite red dress and be more confident, have more energy for your kids then you will take very little action. When you marry little potential with little action you’re going to get little results which results in people failing which continually shapes your belief and world view.
Before anything you must believe you will achieve your result, because when you’re certain that things are going to work (and yes there will be doubt but your belief must be stronger than the doubt) your going to start taking bigger action, when you take bigger action you get great results when you achieve great results you start to believe in yourself more and more! You get momentum!
If you get anything from this please just believe you can. When I had -$8 in my bank account I told Bec I literally sat Bec down and I said that no matter what I would succeed, I couldn’t even pay for ink for a printer I had no right to think anything was possible, I had ZERO equipment, I had ZERO clients, I had no facility, all I had were family and friends to train in local parks. I had an obsession, I was hungry, I was passionate.
How I changed was I got the result in my head first which made me believe that I couldn’t fail. You can practice all you want, gain all the knowledge in the world but if you don’t believe you can get what you desire everything you acquire is useless.
If you believe things wont work for you you’ll be right, If you believe things will work for you you’ll be right.

WHY YOU NEED TO HEAR THIS I have been saying this every since I’ve been in business “Thats the 1%” “1% better every day”
But what does it really mean?
When I’m feeling overwhelmed I find myself seeking variety, new things, shiny object syndrome but I need to constantly rein myself back in and focus on doing whats in front of me.
Its usually the mundane, the boring, the repetitive but its doing 1 more of it.
If you’re working out its the 1 extra rep. If you’re reading its the 1 extra page. Its that one extra email, its that one extra email.
I tell my private nutrition clients all the time just focus on getting better today because what tends to happen is we want to get 90% better for two weeks then change everything because we cannot sustain 90% better everyday for the next 20 years.
You know what you have to do, do that and do it consistently.

Happiness is a state of mind. Ive been guilty of living life on the deferred payment plan. Waiting for something to make me happier when I got there.
Once I understood that life is a series of problems, constant ones. Its internal, its not objects, but thoughts and your attitude thats influenced by your environment, individuals and your own activities.
We are programmed to always react because that all we know. "We are disturbed not by the things that happen, but our opinion of the things that happen". Once you learn that you are in control, you'll start taking control.
I'm no self help guru these are just my experiences that I hope will help you, its a constant learning procress
What I feel is the #1 thing that robs you from success.
How I got started and the resistance I felt along the way. Why your old story must die for your new story to live.
Yes there will be hard times, accept them and I have a lot of hard days but make sure you are consistent with the beliefs, thoughts and ideas you hold to be true to yourself.
On todays episode I spoke about the current book I'm readying 'Psycho-Cybernetics' Highly recommended. I spoke about how we act and feel to the image your mind holds of what your like this is known as your world view.
We all have a world view which is made up of certain mental images, these mental images are made up of people around us, past experiences, past failures and we behave according to these mental images even if they are not the truth.
If our mental images are distorted or unrealistic then out reaction to our environment will likewise be negative.
I shared a few stories from when I was growing up. I hope you enjoy and subscribe.
Hazem El Masri is a former Rugby League player who started his career in the mid 1990s until the late 2000s.
Hazem grew up in Lebanon, started playing rugby league later than most and went on to have a successful career representing Australia and Lebanon, and a New South Wales State of Origin. He played his entire career at the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs winning a premiership in 2004 which we spoke about.
We spoke on the importance of belief and backing that belief by hard work. I had an absolute blast talking to Hazem his definitely one of the good humans in this world.

NO CARBS AFTER 6pm
Let’s say Bob works a 9-5 job
.
He is in a hurry so he rushes off to McDonalds for breakfast. Has his bacon and egg mc muffin meal with a large cappuccino
.
He has lunch at 12pm which is usually a pie, focaccia or a burger from the local shop. If he packed his lunch it’s a can of tuna on crackers.
.
He finishes work at 5 gets home has dinner at 7pm then watches the block, the bachelorette, keeping up with the kardashians, the farmer wants a wife and listens to Chat With Matt while eating his favourite Kingston and Monty Carlo biscuits with his coffee
.
Just with dinner and his late night snacks his eating over 1500 calories
.
Then a co-worker says
.
“Hey Bob, my trainer recommended I follow his science based Cert III eating plan which is no carbs after 6”
.
Bob goes to work the next day, gets his usual McDonalds breakfast, has his usual focaccia lunch rushes home to eat cram in a quick dinner before it hits 6pm
.
He does this for 2 weeks he loses 5kg!
.
NOTHING SPECIAL HAPPENED HERE
.
The reason Bob lost weight is the fact that he has cut out all of that extra 1500 calories of snacking late at night, he simply ate less, therefore lowering their energy intake, which means he was in a calorie deficit, resulting in weight loss.

Had a blast catching up with Luke Patten for this chat. We spoke a bit about his NRL career and how he delt with the difficult times. How he got himself mentally prepared for not only the big games but every game.
The General started his NRL career at the Illawarra Steelers, played in a grand final for the St George Dragons in 1999. He started of playing in the center position before progressing to fullback in his later years.
In 2001 he joined the Canterbury Bulldogs and quickly made the fullback position his own. In 2004 he played in every game of the Bulldogs premiership winning season which finished with a 16–13 victory Grand Final win over the Sydney Roosters.
A two-time winner of the clubs best and fairest in 2006 & 2007, Patten became the club's heart and soul.
At the end of the 2010 NRL season he signed a 3-year deal to join the Salford City Reds in the English Super League. In his last season for the club (2012) he was voted the clubs best and fairest.

You are not your thoughts.
You don’t need to believe everything you think.
Your thoughts are not you and it’s up to you to change them.

We all have a seed of achievement in us, waiting to be put into action, waiting to take you to the next level.
Sometimes we need to turn off autopilot for a second and get what the fuck we really want regardless of what we are constantly being told to do and what not to do..

People have tried a shit load of diets.
Gym memberships are at an all time high.
People are doing more diets than ever. Yet obesity numbers are higher than ever... Why is this?
Fat Loss is always first discussed but what next?
Where does the success lie?
Success lies in periodisation, we must go through certain phases, a start (a fat loss phase) a stop (refeeds and diet breaks) and a reset (restore homeostasis).
Listen while I break down my successful frame and I promise if you understand this you will never diet again.

Jacob works with survivors of institutional child abuse but this wasn't always the case.
Jacob had a tough upbringing, growing up in housing commission. His father went to prison at a young age due to gang related violence and Jacob followed suit getting caught up in fights, drugs and alcohol leading him down a dark path where he was facing 25 years in prison.
Jacob talks about how he turned everything around and it all started with his mindset.
He now has aspirations of becoming a lawyer and is currently chipping away everyday.
We are constantly told that there is a solution to our problems.
That this is the last diet that will solve the problem yet as a society we are fatter than ever.
Why is this? Information over load.
Big corporations promising bandaid solutions to peoples problems.
I give my thoughts on what I have witnessed first hand from my clients. I hope you get some value from this.

You are what you repeatedly do Have you heard this?
What does this really mean?
Today I discussed how we create a new identity/ self image. Habits change our identity. The more you repeat a behavious the more you reinforce the identity associated with that behavious.
Your identity is shaped by what you repeatedly do. The more you do something (habit), the more evidence you have, The more you start to shape your new identity/ self image.
To change who you are you need to change what you do.
You become your habits.
What habits are you creating?
Today I met up with a young trainer who approached me and wanted my advice on how to get started and grow. Firstly, this is still crazy to me. Cardio alone SUCKS! For Fat Loss.. Here’s Why.. Let me explain. Now if you’re a runner or your training for an event, sport then this isn’t for you, but if you’re going for a jog everyday or going on the treadmill, elliptical trainer every single day until you break a sweat, hoping to lose Fat this is definitely for you. What you want to consider is that every time your exercise your body is trying to adapt to a stressor: for example if you do the exact same exercise, lift the exact same weights forever yes your body is going to adapt because you aren't putting any stress on the muscle Let's say you walk into the gym and you look in the weight room feel intimidated by that fit guy/girl or you just don’t want to make a fool of yourself in front of others (Trust me I get it, I felt exactly the same when I first walked into a gym) so you decide to jump on the treadmill for 60 minutes. Don’t get me wrong cardio will burn more calories than weight training when in the process of doing it. The problem is that cardio is telling your body to become more efficient with burning calories so over a short period of time your body will adapt as it has become efficient with the exact same 60 minute cardio routine happening on a daily basis. Why is this dangerous? Initially you will lose weight but once your body adapts to you doing cardio every single day for 5-6 days straight your body will stop losing fat. For you to lose more fat you will need to do more cardio! The second you stop and fail to maintain your activity your body will start gaining weight as your metabolism has slowed down so much. What’s the best way to Lose Fat? Regardless of Cardio or Weight Training. For best results you must: Eat more protein (to maintain this muscle mass) Resistance train (lift weights) Know the amount of calories you are consuming then create a calorie deficit (calories=fat loss).

I’ve kind of got a problem with set meal plans.
Have you ever followed a diet for 6-10 weeks lost a bunch of weight and put it all back on?
Continued to do more gym classes, more cardio and STILL couldn’t shift the weight?
Have you heard of any of these?
If so... run the other way... FAST
.
The reason why these ‘marketers’ make so much money on people is they know how to get a quick and easy win.
If im drinking 3x per week, eating processed food everyday, eating sugar everyday and for the next 10 weeks and my trainer told me to cut these these three things out of my diet of course I will lose weight.
I will be eating 1000 less calories per day just by eliminating these things.
There is no magic to any of this, just great marketing.
If you control calories (energy balance) you will lose weight..
You may or may not have heard this before.
The only way to lose Fat, get learner and show off your toned mid section at Bondi beach is to consume less calories than you burn.
Lets say your body is maintaining its weight at 2000 calories in order for you to lose fat you have got to eat less than 2000 calories daily to lose fat.
REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU EAT! you can eat broccoli all day but if you eat 2500 calories of broccoli and your body only needs 2000 calories to maintain its weight you will gain fat!
Now this doesn't mean you eat 1500 calories worth of pizza because while you will lose weight, you will be losing muscle rather than fat.
This is why its important to understand and pay attention to the appropriate balance of Protein, Fats and Carbohydrates you are consuming.
I break down exactly why you can't lose weight.
What to focus on today to help you FINALLY get the weight off.

We finish with a story from San Diego of our first meeting at Jason Phillips Impact Collective event.

Are you doing what you really want to do everyday?
Is what you doing today the product of your OWN conclusion?
Remember guys you create your story. Whats true to you?
What you do today matters
What you do tomorrow matters
What you do next week matters
Its mastering the basics, the day to day, the things that 99% of people aren't willing to do because they don't value it. Do these same old boring things every single day and I promise you this time next year you won't believe the progress you can achieve in your life.
"Matt I can't lose weight"? This is the most common question I get.
The only way to lose weight is if you are in a calorie deficit. If you're not losing weight chances are you are not in a calorie deficit.
In this episode I discuss the reason why you are not losing weight although you think you might be doing everything perfectly.
Let me know your thoughts guys and would really really really REALLY appreciate a 5 star rating and review on apple podcasts!
Love you guys and thanks always for the support
What happens after the diet?
Why do people lose a bunch of weight in 6 weeks and put it back on?
What is reverse dieting?
I will break down why people lose weight and put it all back on and the exact system I use with my clients to get and sustain results for a life time!
Think greater than you feel.
Yes its tough but my goal is to get you to be more conscious of this. Your thoughts matter more than you think. Your thoughts are related to the mind and the brain and your feelings are connected to the body when these two 'mind and body' are in sync the game changes.
Watch what you constantly tell yourself as over the years you start to literally believe them and these thoughts shape who you are
I share a couple examples and stories of current clients and how they unconsciously are breaking the habit of being themselves on the daily.
The major key to your future is YOU.
Work on you. As hard as it is take control of you rather than looking outside of you for the answer.
Why does Keto work?
Why does Fasting work?
Why does Isogenics work?
Because you're in a calorie deficit. 2020 is the year for education and results and I truely believe that 1000 to 0 will change the game
The real reason's why I never got the results I wanted. Here is one tip that will help you get what you want.
THE WAY YOU FEEL COMES DOWN TO THE PICTURES YOU MAKE AND THE WORDS YOU CONTINUALLY TELL YOURSELF.
I’m too fat
I’m too lazy
I’m ugly
You can’t make money in my job
My job is killing me
I’m too old to train
I can’t eat healthy
There’s too many gyms in my area
Houses are too expensive
Holidays cost too much
I can’t afford that
That’s a rip off
We are wired to love what is familiar and avoid what is unfamiliar.
Success is in discomfort. I believe you can make anything familiar in your life.
I tell myself everyday before I step on the gym floor I’m the best coach.. and the best thing about it nobody has to believe it but you!!-
Every single time I walk past lavender bay I tell Bec we will live here. This will be our local and I’m serious and it’s not to be a dick it’s because I spent 26 out of 29 years thinking I don’t deserve any of it.
Why do so many of us suffer from shoulder pain?
Why do we also suffer from lower back pain?
Listen up guys, I will tell you all the tools I use to help my clients fix their lower back and shoulder pain. Yes the big movements are important but true success in getting out of pain is doing the small movements thousands of times.
Repetition is king!
If you get value from this episode tell 1 friend for me guys. Love and appreciate your support and looking forward to growing with you guys!
My Mission at Move With Matt.
Why you can't listen to the 5% to drive the 95% of your life. Do you and do it better than anyone.
What we truely want out of anything we do.
The most common issues I see with 90% of new nutrition clients. The reason why were all confused. I also break down the only way it is possible for you to loose weight. I talk about habits and how important they are with everyday success.
Grateful for your support guys!!!
Happy Friday guys!!
On todays podcast I discuss if eating before bed is good/bad for you? and the Art of Reverse dieting and why it will change your life.
Thanks for joining me for another week with Chat With Matt, today I spoke about the problems with social media, Why not being true and authentic are killing people. To have some value in yourself, believe in YOU, your PRODUCT, your SERVICE and don’t sell yourself to the highest bidder.
Would love for you guys to leave me a 5 star rating on apple podcasts. I really hope this serves you!
We all think that we want fat loss, abs, this or that but the truth is we all want to be more confidence and happy. Mental Health is such an important topic not talked about enough and I believe it is the difference between controlling your internal dialogue.
A few key points I cover:
Stop giving people power over you.
Dont Compare yourself
Constantly improve yourself
Take Action
Catch Yourself Being Negative
Focus on YOU
Stop trying to prove people wrong
Give yourself credit
I also cover what a day looks like for me.

Todays episode is huge! I had a blast having a chat with Frankie. Frankie is a super cool dude who I met in San Diego at our mentor Jason Phillips impact collective event.
Frankie is a trainer and nutrition coach and who approaches training and nutrition the right way. He explains a bit of what he does everyday with his clients.
The type of clients he trains everyday
The biggest problems/injuries he see's coming in everyday and stresses why mobility is so important.
Talks about his nutrition business and his approach to nutrition, also explaining the wins and loses his had along the road and what he used to struggle with as a young kid.
We start with my past weekend in hunter valley and why I can't return back for another 5-10 years!
Tell a story about my time at school. How to take 1 thing and apply it.
The number one reason why some people see results and some don't. It doesn't come down to how many influences programs you have or how many 6 week meal plans you have it comes down to taking pure action and following through. Set a goal, write it down, work towards it.
I also touch base with the benefits of Strength training and why you should focus on lifting heavier rather than light weights.
A bit of background on myself, my family, my girlfriend and how and why I got started in this very rewarding ride of fitness. It’s already been one hell of a roller coaster.
I’m training more, I’m eating super clean, my fat loss has plateaued!? I’ve put all the weight back on which I’ve previously lost in the past. The exact steps you need to take to fix your metabolism and start getting that scale in the right direction again
Nutrition! One of the biggest problems I see with clients struggling to balance life, exercise and food into their lifestyles. I’ll explain how to do this and sustain it for a life time!
Energy is everything. In business, around family around friends. We don’t want to be the one always looking down with our shoulders rolled forward. I’ll give you a couple techniques that will help you change your energy and state
We live in such a busy world with Work, Family, Weekend sport then on top of that Netflix, Social media and everything else that distracts us today. How do you stay the course and do what you need to do to achieve what you want to achieve?
What are you focusing on? I know there’s a million people on Instagram telling you to focus on you first but I can truely say that there’s nothing that will serve you better than this. Are you practicing the small daily disciplines every day?
Sydney based personal trainer started running Bootcamp’s in parks with 2 people now living my passion everyday owning and operating group training and nutrition coaching from my dream 300 squared meter facility in Campsie. Super passionate about all things Mindset, Fitness and nutrition and will share everything which has helped me along the way.. oh and I’m a funny bloke too
