The Right Kind of Pride

Bryan Fischer here with the Life and Liberty Minute. There’s a right kind of pride and a wrong kind. The wrong kind is the kind that is based on comparing ourselves to somebody else and feeling some kind of superiority. Paul says, “If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.” The right kind of pride is understanding what God wants us to do, and then doing that thing to the best of our ability, whether it involves family or ministry or work. There’s a deep satisfaction in that, what we used to mean when we commended a man for taking pride in his work. It’s not based on comparing ourselves to anyone else, but based simply on the pleasure we find when we do the thing that God has asked us to do as well as we possibly can. “Let each one test his own work,” Paul says, “and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor.”
