My guest today is an impulsive writer, family man, and founder of three companies with two successful exits under his belt.
Back in 2007, and while still in college, he founded what would become Woocommerce. After six years growing the company, we exited to start something new and exciting.
The following year, he started Conversio. He grew this company and team until August 2019 when the company was acquired by Campaign Monitor.
It was through his experience in building Conversio that he stumbled onto this idea of creating a business that could be life - and family - first. This idea become the foundation for his brand new book called Life Profitability: The New Measure of Entrepreneurial Success.

But he's also an entrepreneur who has sold hundreds of thousands of dollars in products and trainings. Early on in his career he began creating video tutorial to help other people learn visual effects, and eventually began selling products and services.

Michael Lennox is the Founder and CEO of Electric Hospitality and ATLFAMILYMEAL.
Electric Hospitality consists of three successful restaurant brands in Atlanta, Georgia. With a staff of 125, and two new restaurants ready to launch in two new and exciting markets, Covid and March 16, 2020 -- or what the restaurant industry in Atlanta calls black Monday -- hit. And everything changed.
With the temporary closure of his restaurants, he took action the very next day, and founded ATLFAMILYMEAL with the mission to feed, nourish, and support hospitality workers experiencing food insecurity and joblessness.
The initiative brings together a community of local chefs, restaurant owners, hospitality workers, and business/non-profit leaders to purchase, prepare, and deliver free meals to hospitality workers in need across the metro Atlanta area. Since launching, the organization has delivered nearly 100,000 meals to unemployed hospitality workers.
With no one being paid and money running out, in August ATLFAMILYMEAL received a donation of $2 million from a local donor in honor of two Atlanta restaurant servers. This generous donation will enable them to continue supporting hospitality workers in Atlanta, grow its team, and adding new initiatives in the months and years ahead.

My guest today is Jim McKelvey, a business person turned glassblower turned entrepreneur turned billionaire -- who has become a philanthropist, investor, and now an author.
He's started a handful of companies, many that are still in business decades later. As he will tell you, every company he has started has also removed him from his leadership role. Although this doesn't sound like something to be proud of, Jim will tell you that this is one of the reasons for his success.
After spending the better part of three decades innovating and building businesses, we mostly know him as the co-founder and designer of Square -- those little white squares we see plugged into phones and used to take credit card payments.
Back in 2008, Jim, along with his soon-to-be Square co-founder Jack Dorsey, having just been removed as the CEO of Twitter decided to spend ten days coming up with a new business to start, when the idea for Square appeared.
After an intense and tumultuous few years, with Jim once again being removed from leadership, Square had succeeded in innovating in an archaic industry. And in the meantime, Jim had become a billionaire entrepreneur.
Jim spent the next ten years working to understand what it was that made Square, along with other uber-successful companies, a success. During his analysis, he discovered what he now calls the Innovation Stack, which is also the title of his brand new book.

Marc Merrill is the co-founder of Riot Games, the company behind the worldwide gaming sensation League of Legends. As of the beginning of 2020, League of Legends has over 100 million monthly players.
In 2005, Marc and his now co-founder Brandon Beck were typical college roommates -- going to class, playing video games, and dreaming up ways to transform the gamin industry. Their idea was to develop a game that would only make money selling virtual goods within the game itself.
Both Marc and Brandon are non-technical co-founders, so they needed to put together a team who could make their dream a reality. They spent the next 12 months mapping out a business plan, overcoming every obstacle they could find, and finding funding to start building a team.
They official launched in 2006, and the marathon of building a successful game and business began. After 4 years of pushing the project forward, they sold off 94% of the company for $400 million -- and they kept on working on Riot Games and League of Legends. He is a digital marketing strategist and author of several books on marketing, most notably The New Rules of Marketing and PR with over 300,000 copies sold to date.
As of 2020, he has published a brand new book called Fanocracy. Here's the premise: The most powerful marketing force in the world isn't social media, email, or even those annoying commercials on stuck right in the middle of YouTube videos. It's fandom.
And the good news? Fandom isn't just for celebrities and influencers anymore! It can be the fuel for any business that chooses to focus on inspiring and nurturing true fans. Fanocracy means turning fans into customers and customers into fans. Fanocracy means an organization that puts the needs and wishes of fans first.

She is the founder of Fatso Peanut Butter, an all-natural peanut butter company that began as a side hustle in the back kitchen of a local restaurant.
In October 2018, Jill appeared on Dragon's Den, Canada's version of Shark Tank. Her ask on the show was $200,000 for 15 percent of the company. Jill received four offers in the episode and she made a handshake deal for $200,000 for 30 percent of the company.
After the recording, Jill met the Dragons to formalize the deal with new numbers. FATSO peanut butter had been evaluated at twice its original amount and Jill Van Gyn wanted the deal to reflect that.
In the end, she walked away from the deal.

Today's guest is a professional blogger, adventure junkie, and digital entrepreneur. He got started online in 2012, right after he graduated from college, by creating an ebook called "A College Guy's Guide to Getting Ripped" -- yes, really. He is a busy guy and somewhat of a content machine. As of today, he has four main projects that he's working on: Avocadu: Health and Wellness website reaching over 3 million people yearly. Create a Pro Website: YouTube channel teaching people how to start their own website from scratch! The Health Nerd: with 415,000 subscribers and still growing, the health nerd was a side project I started back in 2016. Plus, Create and Go, his main business. After making a bunch of money blogging and traveling the world, him and his business partner started Create and Go in early 2016. In the past few years, they've grown this business at an insane pace -- ending 2018 with over 1,000,000 website visitors and over $1,000,000 in revenue. If you've ever had an inkling to start a blog or you have a blog and have always wondered how to scale it to over $100,000 a month, then this conversation is for you. Now, let's hack... Alex Nerney.

He's what I would call a serial entrepreneur, having started 11 companies of varying degrees success. This conversation takes a couple fascinating turns as Ken discusses $100+ million dollar exits and business ideas that have continued to pay him every year for 10+ years.
In addition to his own ventures, he's been investing in companies for the past 18 years.
Through all of this, he began to notice a thread that ran through successful entrepreneurs -- an entrepreneurial mindset -- so he put pen to paper and wrote a new book called The Dream Toolbox: Building an Entrepreneurial Mind and Financial Abundance.

Content marketing, content strategy, and blogging – these are things we talk about constantly. In fact, I've said it before and I'll say it again, all businesses in 2019 are in the content business, whether they know it or not.
But understanding the importance of content marketing is only one piece of the puzzle. Executing effectively is a whole other thing. You can't just write and publish mediocre articles without a strategy or plan and expect any benefits to come from it.
Which brings us to today, and this episode of Hack the Entrepreneur. Four or five years ago, I had no idea how to write for the internet, I didn't know what content marketing even was, and I had been convinced by teachers that I wasn't a writer.
As I learned the strategy and tactics behind content marketing, I set out to relearn the art of writing. During this process I stumbled Copyblogger, a site dedicated to teaching the content marketing, copywriting, and strategy.
Throughout this journey, I've made a ton of mistakes and learned a lot about creating effective content online. One of the things that has had the biggest effect on my writing has been adopting a system and process for my creative process, and the system I've adopted was created by Pamela Wilson, the former VP of educational content at Copyblogger.
The step-by-step system has completely changed the way I write and has enabled me to more than double my content output and increase my organic traffic by over 950% in the past 12 months.
Today I am happy to have Pamela on the show to walk you through her entire process so that you can reap the same rewards that I have.
Now, let’s learn the 4-day content creation system.

In today's episode, we talk to the founder of AWeber, the company that invented what we now know as autoresponder emails. Tom Kulzer founded AWeber back in 1998 and has since bootstrapped the company from a side hustle into a team of 100 employees and more than 120,000 users worldwide.
In this conversation, we discuss the invention of email autoresponders, poking holes in your beliefs, and never accepting what is presented to you as the best solution to a problem.
Much of AWeber's impressive growth can be attributed to their six core values that have become the foundation of everything they do. These core values are:
Anyone can say they're remarkable. But how many companies will, say, knock your socks off with awesome email marketing... and then send you a new pair of socks in the mail?
There's a lot that goes into creating remarkable experiences. Once they commit to a project that enables them better help customers, their team is quick to plan and execute with passion.
AWeber has created and nourished a culture of respect and cooperation. It doesn't come from policy, it comes from treating people like people -- the way everyone should be treated. Teams openly collaborate to solve problems and work together to make sure their service is the best it can be.
