Hawke Cast is a podcast about the filmography of celebrated actor Ethan Hawke. Each episode we bring in a friend and discuss one of Ethan's many films.
Ethan's doing another friend favor, this time for his good buddy Steve Zahn! She Dances, written by Zahn and starring him and his daughter, is a less than stellar indie film that will probably no longer be playing by the time this episode drops. We discuss Ethan's Oscar night, Maya's wedding, dance culture, first time filmmaker techniques, Hank interference, and odd experiences at the AMC Boston Common 19.

Today's episode is about a Hawke movie that, as of the time we are releasing this episode, still does not have an official US release date! We saw this early at the Boston Independent Film Festival's Fall Focus, like how last year we saw First Reformed early. Ain't that neat?
Anyway, the film is THE TRUTH directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda. It stars Catherine Deneuve, Juliette Binoche, and Ethan Hawke as the silly American husband! It's like... it's a fine enough movie! Spoilers abound, but if you wanna hang out with these lovely actors for 100 minutes you could do worse!

That's right, we're taking on THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN (2016), Antoine Fuqua's remake that you definitely saw posters for, but didn't see. It's our last western film with Hawke for now, until he inevitability hops on the saddle again probably by the end of 2020.

Based on the non-fiction book about the dark side of the fast food industry, this film has a confused tone but some great performances. It's somehow Roland's first Ethan Hawke movie ever! He's a fan now!

Our guest is first-timer HARRISON YOUNG (@harrrithon), noted Hawke-supporter. We discuss the family's home, Ethan's haircut, which characters should have been lesbians, Robert Sean Leonard, and climate change.

Today we are focusing on the work of one MAYA HAWKE, Ethan's daughter who landed a prime role in Netflix's Stranger Things and had a genuinely moving character arc. Corey has never seen Stranger Things so I filled in some blanks while describing Maya's role and trying to decide if she acts and looks more like Ethan or Uma. I think she sounds exactly like him when she gets drugged by Russians, at the very least.

Yes hello! For the final Hawke Cast of 2018, we got to do something very special. Here we have an interview with Vulture's own Hunter Harris, a wonderful writer and Ethan Hawke enthusiast.
Hunter and I came together to discuss Ethan's stellar 2018, especially his soon-to-be-Oscar-nominated performance in First Reformed. We also talk about the Before Trilogy, Ethan's remarkable ability to give thoughtful interviews, Bradley Cooper's seeming lack of enthusiasm, and how Vicesucks. Let's just say, if Ethan doesn't get a Best Actor nomination, the Academy will be hearing from Harris.
