Legendary Laker swingman, "Coop," lends his view on today’s NBA game in comparison to how basketball was played in the 1980s. From lighthearted comments to serious analytics he and a co-host Ari Temkin as well as guests including Showtime Lakers Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Pat Riley and Byron Scott, will discuss current basketball games both from a player and a coaches perspective.
Known for his defensive skills, highlight dunks and tenacious defense, Coop will break down the do's and don’ts of the game of basketball. Coop shares a ‘view from the bench’ with intimate stories from the Laker days and from the WNBA, D-league and the Big 3 as a head coach. On occasion current events in and around the sports world will also be covered e.g. behaviors off and on the court, the business of sports, travel youth ball, high school ball and his experience as a coach in the Big3. As the only person to win a championship, as either a coach or a player, in the NBA, WNBA, and the NBA D-League, Coop’s positive outlook on life and infectious personality is sure to provide unique and humorous insights as a podcaster.

PRESS RELEASE:
Shontel Greene Releases Her New Book Mastermind: Born a Statistic, Determined to Die a Winner . . . 12 Years Later Baltimore, Maryland Aug 3, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Shontel Greene is pleased to announce the release of her latest book, Mastermind: Born a Statistic, Determined to Die a Winner . . . 12 Years Later. Shontel’s transformation of her life is epic as described in this captivating book.
Mastermind is the compelling true story of Shontel Adams (Greene). Born and raised in the streets of West Baltimore, Shontel was forced to become a drug dealer at 14 to save her family from losing their home. To get started, she had to convince her uncle who was ‘in the game’ to give her the money.
She was lured and sucked into the seductive underworld of fast money, fast living, and a fast-paced lifestyle. Getting in was the easy part, but getting out would require a miracle. With her back against the wall, Shontel had to navigate a double life of being a straight-A student with perfect attendance by day and a 17-year-old Drug Queenpin by night. With the grandeur came danger, as she was subjected to robberies, being shot at, kidnapped, and even set up by a close friend. That same uncle who mentored her then wanted her dead. After multiple arrests, Shontel’s awakening was from Judge Johnson, who reduced her 20-year sentence to weekend jail during her mandatory college matriculation. Shontel realized books were her saving grace. On her mother’s death bed, she begged Shontel to change, and from that moment on, she never sold drugs again. With two Master’s degrees and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, she began her life of entrepreneurial success.
Shontel's true-life story will take you on a series of highs and lows as she battled her demons; and struggled to endure betrayal, prison, kidnapping, robberies, murder, police corruption, and her parent's drug addiction.
Shontel's mastermind helped her get out of the game, turn her life around, and build a legitimate multi-million-dollar business empire. Discover how she gave up the hustling lifestyle to become a true "Boss Chick" by creating a legal multi-million-dollar business empire and is able to enjoy a life of luxury now while also participating in multiple philanthropic ventures to give back to those in need in the inner city.
Her motto was, “You can't control the cards you are dealt, but you absolutely can control how you play them.” Shontel was always determined to "Play to win."
Shontel has been featured in Black Enterprise magazine as one of the largest growing Black-owned businesses. She has also been featured in Forbes and Power magazine and various TV and news shows.

Michael Cooper thinks the Celtics are still going to beat the Toronto Raptors easily in the semifinals, even with OG Anunoby hitting a shot to beat Boston in Game Three.
2:47
Michael Cooper and Ari Temkin take a look at the other Eastern Conference series the Miami Heat vs. Milwaukee Bucks. The Heat lead the series, but will Milwaukee, the top seed in the East, still win the series?
4:07
What’s the issue with the Milwaukee Bucks? Why can’t they seem to get over the hump? Why has Giannis Antetokounmpoe the Bucks recently crumbled and been upset in the playoffs?
5:10
From a defensive superstar like Coop, what does he see that is making theHeat defense so effective against Giannis?
6:07
The Eastern Conference Finals between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat will be a great series because it’s two very similar teams. Plus, is Coop rooting for Lakers vs. Celtics in the Finals?
7:37
Showtime with Coop goes out West, taking a look at the series between the Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets.
9:07
Is Kawhi Leonard a better on-ball or man-to-man defender than Michael Cooper?
10:35
A series very close to the heart of Michael Cooper and that would of course be the other Western Conference semifinal between the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets.
13:40
Why James Harden needs to play more selfishly, reminiscent of a Kobe Bryant quote: “If I pass you the ball, and you don’t hit the shot...I can do that.”
14:56
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is someone that Coop noticed really stepped up in the Lakers series victory over the Blazers in the first round.
17:18
The bubble takes homecourt advantage and travel out of the equation in the playoffs, and yet at the same time it probably won’t end up meaning any upsets, and we’ll still end up with the best teams in the NBA Finals.
20:38
What’s different about the Showtime Era NBA and the modern game? Coop with five things that are different about today’s game. 1- The importance of team and not relying too heavily on one-on-one basketball.
23:10
2- Roles were clearly defined on the Showtime Lakers and in the NBA in the 80’s, that’s definitely a lost art in today’s game.
27:58
The third thing that is different is how bad shot selection is in the modern game. What would Coop classify as a bad shot?
29:30
The fourth major difference between 80's NBA and modern game is: Team Chemistry
There's a great quote from Isiah Thomas: "The secret to basketball has noting to do with basketball, it's everything else. It's the restaurants, the hotels, dinners..."
31:33
The final major difference between the Showtime Era NBA and the modern NBA is the 3-point shot. It's insanity. The 3-point line was not as much of a regular jump shot as it is in today's NBA.
33:53
Coaching was also dramatically different. When you look at Pat Riley, Don Nelson, Casey Jones, Billy Cunningham and how much different coaching styles are today.
