It's Wrestlemania on this week's podcast as we dig into the stunning victory of Jonas Vingegaard over Chris Froome at the Singapore Criterium. Then, of course, it's time to talk Tour de France. The routes were announced last week and we have thoughts. Perhaps this is the first year we can cover it with an electric car?

Caley, Jonny, and Ronan then dive into the Giro route, which was announced this week, and into the latest reporting around Mark Cavendish's move to the French B&B Hotels team.
Ronan reports from the velodrome where Filippo Ganna obliterated the hour record. After setting a near unbeatable distance, Ronan suspects it will not be Ganna's only attempt. Also going on this weekend: Il Lombardia, a lot of retirements, Tour de Romandie, and Gravel Worlds.

Matt and Amy ran into some familiar friends at the start of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift stage 7. No one is surprised about the results at the end of the day, although the time gaps were a bit of a shock. With an 18% time cut, it's likely some riders will not see the startline for the eighth stage. One more stage to go! In this special episode of the CyclingTips podcast, our Senior Features Editor Iain Treloar digs into the evacuation efforts of Afghan cyclists in the wake of the Taliban’s return. Off the back of months of reporting, we reveal the bullying and blackmail behind a famous cyclist evacuation convoy backed by the UCI – and how the lists had been manipulated by the President of the Afghan Cycling Federation, Fazli Ahmad Fazli, to benefit family and friends instead of cyclists. With UCI backing, they received asylum, and Fazli received a major UCI award. Since CyclingTips broke the story, whistleblowers have been directly targeted, and a cyclist that Fazli believed to be a CyclingTips source was kidnapped and tortured for four days. Death threats have been issued, and now the Taliban is being sent after cyclists – apparently at Fazli’s orders. In a message to one cyclist, he said that the Taliban were his allies, and wrote that “until they have sent me pictures of their dead bodies, I will not rest.” This is a raw and sometimes challenging listen, but it’s important.

To get a sense of where the cycling industry stands when it comes to female-identifying cyclists Abby chatted with two women who are immersed in the industry. Elorie Slater, marketing manager of Pivot Cycles, has put a lot of thought into how to get more female-identifying riders on bikes. Through her experience at her bike shop and within the marketing world of cycling she has connected with other cycling companies to put aside their differences and band together to make cycling a more inclusive and welcome environment. Luisa Grappone, an aerospace engineer for Hunt bike wheels, came to the cycling industry after working with aeroplanes. She has a unique perspective of being a woman in a male dominate field. We at CyclingTips are proud to bring more women’s voices in front of the cycling world and continue to work towards growing cycling to include everyone who loves bikes, just like we do.
