You should believe it because the story includes problematic material that anyone would leave out if it wasn’t true.
You should because the tomb was empty.
You should believe it because the church sprung up over night.

Religious beliefs are based on historical claims that are either true or false. History does not allow us to say that all religions are equally true.
We know all truth isn't relative. If Jesus rose from the dead then He is God, if He didn't rise from the dead then He is a lunatic.
The person who says that exclusive religious claims are arrogant claims, fails to see their naiveness. Their claim to have more insight than all religions is the most arrogant of all.

Pastor Tristan Sharpe helps us understand what it is that we need to be "Devoted" too..
December 29th, 2019
What are the right choices?
Matthew 6:19-24 (Holman)
Setting the context:
This scripture is part of the Sermon on the Mount. It is some of the most famous teaching of the ministry of Jesus and covers a wide range of topics. In this scripture Jesus is teaching about God and possessions and is focusing on how we live a life that is pleasing to God.
The Main question:
You are making choices every day. What are the right ones?
Discovering the Bible:
Choose the right thing to store.
Choose the right thing to see.
Choose the right thing to serve.
Questions for discussion groups
Getting to know you question: Have you always made the right choices: In a couple of sentences, name a choice that went well and one that went poorly.
Into the Bible questions:
Read Matthew 6:24: What are we slaves to? Why do we choice what we choose? What would a life look like if we were fully devoted to God? What are some of things we can do on earth to help others become fully devoted to God?
Application question:
Tristan Shore, Discovery Youth Pastor helps us answer the question.. "How do I know I am the Real Deal?"
1 Peter 2 New International Version (NIV) 2 Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. 2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
The Living Stone and a Chosen People 4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by Godand precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For in Scripture it says:
“See, I lay a stone in Zion,
a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame.”
7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,
“The stone the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone,”
8 and,
“A stone that causes people to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall.”
They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for.
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
John 3:26-30 New International Version (NIV) 26They came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan—the one you testified about—look, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.”
27To this John replied, “A person can receive only what is given them from heaven. 28You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Messiah but am sent ahead of him.’ 29The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete. 30He must become greater; I must become less.”
How do we experience healing?
Today, Pastor Smith Sharpe takes us through Luke 7:36-43 and helps us understand the answser.
Luke 7:36-43 New International Version (NIV) Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman 36 When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. 37 A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. 38 As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.
39 When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.”
40 Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.”
“Tell me, teacher,” he said.
41 “Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. 42 Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?”
43 Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.”
“You have judged correctly,” Jesus said.

2 Timothy 3:10-17
10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of Goda]">[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. -NIV

Our Life
Romans 6:5 For if we have been united with him in the likeness of his death, we will certainly also be in the likeness of his resurrection.
Grab a candle from the pedestal. Light it from the large candle on the altar then have a seat in a chair, floor, near the altar, or anywhere you feel comfortable and private.
Everybody dies. Today we are here; one day we will all be gone. For centuries Christians have paused to consider their own mortality on Ash Wednesday… not to be morbid, but to remind ourselves that we hope in the resurrection. We also do this to be reminded that every day is a gift. Every day is a gift and God is inviting us into the best life with Him. Take a few moments to talk with God about the desires for your life He has placed on your heart.
This candle before you represents your life. Watch it burn. Thank God for lighting the fire in your soul and that you will allow Him to do so as long as you are on this earth. Now spend a few moments pondering your own mortality. The day will come that we will all face death.
What will your life be committed to during your time here on earth? Will you join Him in the likeness of His resurrection? Until your flame is gone, who will it be dedicated to? The choice is yours. Put your candle at the altar as a sign that as long as your flame is burning, it will be dedicated to Him.
Fasting
Isaiah 64:8 Yet Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we all are the work of your hands.
Take this time to pray about the upcoming Lenten season. A Lenten Fast in when you take something away in your normal life to create a new space of time for God to come in fill. It is a special and unique time to grow in your relationship with Him. When we allow God to come into these spaces, God uses them to mold us into who he desires us to be.
Spend this time contemplating what will you take away this season? Maybe the Holy Spirit has already laid on your heart what to fast from, spend this time reflecting about that? What is getting in your way of growing closer to him? How will you be intentional about filling this space with pursuit of Him?
Finally, observe the altar in front of you. The baskets in front represent an offering. This time it is not one of monetary, but rather an offering of commitment. What will you commit to giving up to create a space for God? Write it down on your note card and when you are ready, take it to the altar and place your card in the basket to signify the commitment.
