Happy October and happy new podcast season of The Wonder Podcast!

We are so excited to be back and look forward to hearing from you! Chrissie read CELEBRATION OF DISCIPLINE by Richard J. Foster many years ago and loved it. Then she joined friends and read it again. Then she told Lisa to read it. ☺ Then she suggested we podcast about it so here we are!

This book, y'all. With over two million copies sold, and counting, this book “has helped millions of seekers discover a richer spiritual life infused with joy, peace, and a deeper understanding of God.”

We will be discussing the 3 categories of disciplines over the next few weeks. (Inward, Outward, and Corporate.) Today, we tackle the corporate disciplines – Confession, Guidance, Worship, and Celebration. Every single discipline Foster covers is applicable to us and the overarching goal of His Lordship in our lives.

We hope you’ll grab a copy of the book, start reading and listening, and join us on this journey toward a deeper, more dependent relationship with our great, glorious God.

We are giddy for another season of The Wonder Podcast and extra giddy to be diving into a new book of the Bible. Esther! Join us as we walk through this book of twists and turns, (you really do feel like you’re at the theatre) with so many characters the reader can almost lose track!

Did we mention DRAMA?

You can rest assured the Book of Esther is a full-on drama. Our main character, Queen Esther, shows resolve, commitment, discretion, and strength as she accepts the call of God in her life. Although God is never mentioned, you see His hand all through this book. It’s thrilling to see and recognize God’s plan and presence throughout each chapter, though He’s never mentioned by name.

So grab your Bible, and join us as we journey through the book of Esther, a woman used by God for “such a time as this.” Thanks for joining us for this episode of The Wonder Podcast!

We were thrilled to chat with Audrey Elledge and Elizabeth Moore about their new prayerbook, “Liturgies for Hope–60 Prayers for the Highs, the Lows, and Everything in Between.”We want to be their best friends. Let’s get that out there. They are full of JOY AND PURPOSE!

This book started“as an act of defiance against fear.” They were great friends, living in NYC in March 2020 as Covid-19 swept the world. They watched as their friends, colleagues, fellow Believers, and neighbors fought isolation, sickness, and worry. God started to give them words of comfort and peace, and they wrote them down.

When we say the book is honest and holy, we mean it. There is a liturgy for anything and everything. If you’ve felt, hoped, or experienced it, there’s a prayer. And the best part is each liturgy is accompanied by the scripture that led them to write. This book is a marvelous ministry and will spur you on spiritually and meet you where you are.

Order the book on Amazon or Barnes and Noble, or you can hear them read it on Audible! Get your copy today!

Maria Bower shares her testimony of faith in this episode. All we can say is buckle up! God does a work in her heart and uses Chrissie in the process. Maria was searching, tired of religion, and wanted a relationship. And God answered her prayers.

From her first prayer for direction and clarity to her everyday prayers, she unrelentingly trusts God. She doesn’t question His plan for her life or her family’s, and she walks confidently because of His love for her. She is a woman of deep faith.

We loved hearing about Maria’s faith journey so much that we ran out of time! But she wanted to ensure our listeners were reminded of two things: Maria reminds us NOT to get discouraged in our daily bible reading. No time to read? Then listen!

God doesn’t want to guilt us into spending time with Him. As a desire of our heart, we want to spend time with Him, and sometimes listening to His word in the car, on a walk, or at home is the best way to “hear” from Him! She also reminds us not to lean on our own understanding. We’ll never see the whole picture as God does, so we’ll never understand everything that happens in this world.

Rest in Him today!

Pray, Wait, Repeat with Megan DobbsAiring2/9/23Megan Dobbs lives in NYC and is the women’s minister at her church in Queens. If you ask her how she got there, she’d probably say, “Lots of prayers. And lots of waiting.

A former schoolteacher, Megan felt the pull to move to NYC in 2016. The life lessons Megan learned in the waiting (she didn’t move to NYC until the summer of 2022) were worth it. Her prayer life has developed and soared, as has her confidence in the Lord. Growing up in the church, a preacher’s kid, prayer was something she learned about early on, and it was just what church kids did. They prayed.

But her prayer life took a giant leap forward during this 6-year waiting period, as she felt the shift from a check-in-the-box daily prayer to a conversation and friendship with the Lord.

She learned to listen more and talk less.“If I checked in with someone daily, we wouldn’t get very close or deep in our relationship.” That’s when she realized what she had been doing with God. Checking in. She wanted more.

Megan also shares her heart on unanswered prayer and how she continues to pray while living out her calling. This is a very thought-provoking episode full of hard and good truths. I can’t wait for you to listen. Let us know your thoughts.

When we sat down with our team to discuss 2023, we knew we wanted to make some changes.

We’re celebrating 5 years of The Wonder Podcast, and change is good, right?

So, to change it up a bit, we decided to do 4 seasons of episodes this year. We knew our first season needed to be foundational, so we landed on PRAYER. This season will cover the mechanics of prayer, if you will, as well as waiting while you pray, fasting, and developing a heart for prayer. We’re excited, and we hope you are, too!

So, today’s episode is about Chrissie and Lisa discussing their personal prayer journeys and thoughts on finding peace through prayer. As a spiritual discipline, they admit prayer is their most challenging practice. What about you?

Thanks for joining us for this episode of The Wonder Podcast! Hit subscribe, and please tell your friends! Could you help us share the word? And we’d love to hear from you.

“May we thrive on the Bread of Life or starve on the crumbs of this world.” -- Anonymous

We hope you’ll join along as we study the letters from John to the new Believers in Ephesus (western Turkey) and Asia. These letters were meant to encourage and strengthen the Church in their Christian life. It’s hard for us to comprehend not knowing how to act “Christian” since most of us have grown up in the church and have Bibles in every room of our homes. But the first-century Christians had neither. These letters gave them life.

Written by John, one of the OG disciples, in his latter years, these letters are shorter in length than his first, the gospel according to John. They emphasize the need to obey God’s commands while focusing on the love of God for us and our need to love one another as proof of our love for God.

We love to study God’s word. We hope you’re encouraged and spurred on as we discuss these books of the Bible. May His word continue to shape us, change us and move us toward obedience.

What a gift it was for Dr. Connor Bales to join us and share with us the message from his new book, “Counted Worthy.”

Connor received a landscape architecture degree from Texas Tech University, but 10 years into his career, he felt God’s call to full-time ministry. Married with kids, he embarked on a journey that has taken him from the Dallas area to east Texas and back to Dallas, more specifically Prosper, TX as the lead pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church – North Campus.

Connor and his wife, Mary, who you might remember was a guest on our podcast back in May 2020, have five children. Two of their daughters have a rare chromosomal abnormality called Trisomy 16P.

Connor shares that after they received the news that their daughter Hannah had the same diagnosis as her older sister, Libby, he felt God’s presence immediately and heard the words, “I’ve counted you worthy.”

There is tension between “God is good” and “Life is really hard.” Connor is real about this tension and hopes to encourage anyone in the midst of a struggle to get real with God. If he were sitting with you right now, he would say these things, “I’m sorry.” “What you are going through is awful.” “God loves you.”

Romans 8:18 says, “For the sufferings of this present time are not worthy of being compared to the glory to be revealed to us.”

Thank you, Connor, for joining us. You’ll love his message of hope in Jesus Christ.

Order your copy of “Counted Worthy” on Amazon or grab a copy at the Prestonwood Baptist Church bookstore.

The Wonder Podcast with our friend Carmen Schroeder

Airing – TWP – 9/15/22

If you’ve listened to either of our podcasts, you’ve heard from our friend Carmen Schroeder. She’s our “Go To” girl! We love her and are so thankful for her time and graciousness to share with us when we have questions!

So, we asked Carmen to share how to navigate the world right now with all the crazy going on.
That’s it. The question was, “How are we supposed to do this, Carmen!? The world is upside down!”

“There is a world out “there,” and there is a world “between our ears.” We are responsible for bringing light to both. The way we bring light to both worlds is through a growing love of the word of God (clarity) and active love for people (unity). This is what it means to walk in Spirit and
Truth. “ Carmen Schroeder

Some scripture to consider:
Genesis 1 (Light)
Genesis 2:15 (Cultivate/serve & guard)
Proverbs 29:18 (Vision)
Romans 8:29 (Purpose)
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (The Last Days – Staying together on mission as one)
The SHEMA (Deut. 6 & Mark 12:28-31)

Be prepared to have your sock knocked off! She brings truth and shares some quite jaw-dropping things. And we were ENCOURAGED! ENCOURAGED!

Ya’ll, just a heads up – you’re going to need to listen and re-listen to this episode. Don't forget to grab a pen too.

Studying God’s word is our first love. We will talk about pretty much anything on this podcast, but sharing what God is teaching us through His word is our favorite.

For the next 4 episodes, we’ll be walking through Colossians. Here’s some fun facts:

Colossians was most likely Paul’s first epistle from prison.
Paul didn’t start the church at Colosse nor did he ever visit there.
*Paul wrote this letter to encourage the Believers living there. They were growing in their faith and he wanted to cheer them up and on.

The book of Colossians is meant to encourage us as we grow. Growth can hurt. Did you ever have “growing pains” as a child? Your mom most likely rubbed your legs and gave you some extra TLC before sending you back to bed with this admonishment, “you’ll be fine, go to sleep!” ☺ The church at Colosse was experiencing growing pains.

“It is not until a man finds his faith opposed and attacked that he begins to think out the implications of that faith. It is not until the Church is confronted with some dangerous heresy that she begins to realize the riches and the wonder of orthodoxy.” - William Barclay

We hope you’ll grab a pen and your Bible and study Colossians with us! Let us know what you’re learning and how God speaks and works in your life!

Studying God’s word is our first love. We will talk about pretty much anything on this podcast, but sharing what God is teaching us through His word is our favorite.

For the next 4 episodes, we’ll be walking through Colossians.

Here are some fun facts:

  • Colossians was most likely Paul’s first epistle from prison.
  • Paul didn’t start the church at Colosse or visit there.
  • Paul wrote this letter to encourage the Believers living there. They were growing in their faith, and he wanted to cheer them up.

The book of Colossians is meant to encourage us as we grow. Growth can hurt. Did you ever have “growing pains” as a child? Your mom most likely rubbed your legs and gave you some extra TLC before sending you back to bed with this admonishment, “you’ll be fine; go to sleep!” ☺ The church at Colosse was experiencing growing pains.

“It is not until a man finds his faith opposed and attacked that he really begins to think out the implications of that faith. It is not until the Church is confronted with some dangerous heresy that she begins to realize the riches and the wonder of orthodoxy.” -William Barclay

We hope you’ll grab a pen and your Bible and study Colossians with us! Let us know what you’re learning and how God speaks and works in your life!

Lynde Griggs co-founded Belle and Sparrows not-for-profit ministry to women 5 years ago.

Formerly a women’s minister, Lynde loved serving women and coupled that with a passion for missions, and Belle and Sparrows was born.

Belle (beautiful) and Sparrows – “What is the price of two sparrows – one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.” Matthew 10:29

Belle and Sparrows is women reaching women both locally and globally. They stand in the gap for the marginalized, teaching them skills, providing encouragement, and helping them to overcome trauma and find their worth in Christ.

There are many facets to the ministry, including mission trips, both local and international, job skills like candle making, bible studies, and more. Women are believing God, His word, and finding their worth and value in Him alone.

Holly Knight is our guest on The Wonder Podcast today. She’s got a new book out called “Stubborn Obedience.” In today’s episode, Holly recounts God’s calling on her life, His gentle nudges, and her stubborn obedience to accept the call…no matter what.

Stubborn takes on a negative connotation most always, but Holly reminded us that it was that sheer (stubborn) will that gave her the determination and strength necessary to walk the very hard and difficult road of obedience.

Are you struggling with obeying God? It’s not easy, but always worth it. His plan for our life is the best plan for our life. And He’s promised us He’ll be with us every step of the way.

Today Amie Kirby is our guest on the podcast and her story will surely bless you as it did us. We met Amie last summer at the beach! ☺ She’s BFFs with Teresa Kreul whom you all loved when she came on our show and gave tips on making friends!

Amie recounts her adoption story and shares how God has taken her passion and turned it into her purpose. Won’t He do it!!!

“God is a Good Shepherd, and He knows the way.”

In this episode, Amie shares how God has led her life from the beginning as He placed her with loving parents to raise her, walked with her through her battle with cancer, the death of her beloved husband, and now into a beautiful partnership with Zoe’s House.

Working with expectant moms and adoptive parents, Amie sees firsthand every day how God shepherds His flock. He works all things together for the good.

Be encouraged today as you hear a story of God’s faithfulness and how He never gives up on us.

Becky Leach is here today to talk about her new book, “The Pivot – Believing God When You Really, Really Don’t Want to.” We’ve all been there, haven’t we?

Becky’s story is one of faith, resilience, and trust. After enduring years of abuse, Becky found her path to healing and restoration through learning to pivot and continuing to trust and believe God, even when she didn’t want to.

We were reminded while talking with Becky, that pain and shame most always lead us to a crossroads. Will we trust and believe God, or will we deny His goodness and faithfulness?

Shelley Komoszewski is a sinner saved by grace, wife of Ed (for 30 years!), mom to Katie and Emily, and owner of a wiener dog.  :) Shelley is a church girl, an extrovert, lover of coffee, junk, music, laughter, and friendship.  And she's worked at Josh McDowell Ministry for 25 years.

Shelley has loved hard and experienced great loss.  This past year, God called her daughter Emily home to be with Him...with no warning or preparation.  Emily was a vibrant, charismatic, full-of-life junior in high school.  She LOVED Jesus.  She LOVED her friends.  And she LOVED her family.  And God called her home.

In this episode, Shelley recounts Emily's last weeks of life, her celebration of life service, and reminds us that "life is short and eternity is long.  Make it count."  Thank you Shelley for sharing your story today on The Wonder Podcast.  Your love for Jesus Christ shines bright.

We are welcoming, back to our show, The Amy Pierson!

You've heard her referred to in the past as the High Priestess of Kroger, and that she is!

She, her hubby Kyle, and their children are living life on mission as they share the gospel of Jesus Christ intentionally, strategically, and without pause.

If you haven't listened to her last episode with TWP, please do.

She's full of ideas and strategies for sharing the gospel, in normal life. Speaking of normal life, Amy shares that the number one reason we don't share the gospel is we feel we're ill-equipped and not trained for ministry. We're "just" a student, or "just" a neighbor, or "just" a salesperson, or "just" a retail worker, or "just" a kid, woman, or man.

Amy reminds us that that is a lie from the enemy trying to sideline us and keep us off the front lines of seeing our world come to know Jesus.

Acts 4:13, "Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus."

Have you been with Jesus? Yes? Then talk about Him.

Here's a great intro into a spiritual conversation, "There was a time in my life when..." (Share your story.)

Are you wanting to go to the front lines and start seeing your neighbors, friends, and family come to know Christ? "Then you'll need to die to your comfort and your calendar." Amy Pierson Let's go!

Amy is starting a 4-week bible study soon. She'd love for you to join her. Contact Amy at amyandkylepierson@gmail.com. You can also reach out to Amy on Instagram @amykpierson.

When we decided to tackle the subject of balance, Tasha Calvert came to mind. 4 daughters, ages 9-25. And she’s all smiles. Always! She seems to balance all the things, but we know that’s not the case.

All of us struggle with balance in our lives. But Tasha shares some great insights into this discussion. And first and foremost, how does anyone find balance without Jesus? How? Jesus himself used two women in the Bible to illustrate what it takes to live a balanced life. Mary and Martha. Love God. Love others. That will bring balance, peace, and purpose to our lives.

We must ask ourselves, “Who am I trying to please as I struggle through life feeling chaotic and out of sorts?” Jesus hasn’t asked us to live this way. In fact, quite the opposite. So, we need to consider Him when we set our agendas.

Please keep in mind that this episode is recorded by 3 type A personalities. Regardless of your personality, age, or skill set, your calling is from the Lord. So, we rest in that and live according to His plan for our life. Balance is attainable, but we must be willing to change, listen and grow.

It’s a new year and we asked recently what YOU wanted to hear on The Wonder Podcast! Well, you answered us and Quiet times, what, how, when, where, why, were at the top of the list! So we decided to tackle this idea with one of our favorite gals, Liz Steckel.

Liz is the brains behind our social media accounts and helps us from every angle quite honestly. And she’s also super tight with Jesus. We knew we could have her on the show and she would share from her heart why time with the Lord is so worth it. She didn’t disappoint.

In this episode, you’ll hear how Liz tackles each day. She uses a plan she calls, READ. PRAY. LISTEN. Each day she reads several chapters of a book in the Bible (she started in Genesis), one Psalm and one Proverb. Then she prays and listens. And she does this mostly at 4am. ☺

Liz says her consistent quiet time began when her first daughter was born. She has walked with the Lord and met with Him her entire Christian life, but consistently? Like most of us, she struggled. But when Savannah was born, things changed. As she was up in the middle of the night with her newborn, she heard the Lord quietly ask her, “if not now, when?” And her early morning pursuit of Christ began.

“I want to learn from and encounter the living God!” Liz

Psalm 63, “God, you’re my God! I can’t get enough of you! I’ve worked up such hunger and thirst for God, traveling across dry and weary deserts. So here I am in the place of worship, eyes open, drinking in your strength and glory.” 1-4 MSG

So if you’re curious about why we need a quiet time, what it might look like in your life, or how to get started tune in to this episode of The Wonder Podcast. Remember, time with God isn’t a check in the box. It’s fuel for our lives. We need Him every day. Every hour. Every minute.

If you joined us on The Wonder Podcast in the spring, you walked through the book of 1st Peter with us.

In this letter to the Church, Peter emphasizes the reality of suffering for the Christian, while simultaneously offering encouragement and challenge. Peter’s 2nd letter to the Church is different. He moves from suffering to alerting Believers that false teachers are rampant, and we must be on guard! We must know what we know!

We must be in God’s word so that we can identify false teachings and protect ourselves from the lure of the enemy.

2nd Peter is full of POWER VERSES! Some of our favorites? 1:3-4, 1:21, 3:8, 3:9, 3:10 and more! We hope you enjoy these 3 chapters of this small, but mighty book of the New Testament! God has a word for all of us today.

This week on TWP, Chrissie and Lisa discuss all things scripture memory! Why? How? What? When?

We talk about it. AND we discuss how much harder it is today than it was 30 years ago! Too busy? Too distracted? Too old? (Don't answer that!)

Walking with God includes knowing His word. It's important to hide it (HIS WORD) in our hearts, y'all. We all have our "Go-To" scriptures that we recall when we're nervous, or afraid, or need reassuring. It changes our mindset and reminds us of our position in Christ and His promises to us.

We hope you're encouraged as you listen to this episode of The Wonder Podcast!

"I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." Psalm 119:11

Did you know God pursues us?

From the beginning of time, God was and is wanting us to know Him and He goes to great lengths to make that happen.

Today on the podcast, Lisa’s neighbor and friend, Tracey, shares how the King of all creation used professors, missionaries, and hard life struggles and lessons to reach her and her husband and bring them out of Mormonism. They were lost and Jesus found them. They experienced first-hand the hope and grace that only comes from a relationship with Jesus Christ. The gospel changed everything for her family and their eternity.

Our conversation with Tracey reminded us of the power of the Holy Spirit, the influence of others in our lives, and how sweet and perfect forgiveness and grace are for the Believer.

Be encouraged by this episode of the podcast, and as you listen, ask yourself this question, “Who is God entrusting to put in my path today that needs the message of Jesus and the hope of the gospel?”

When we launched TWP 3 1/2 years ago, we had NO podcasting experience and hardly listened to podcasts to be quite honest. We knew God had given us a special friendship, we knew we loved people and we knew He had given us a love for His word.

But once we got behind those mics, WE WERE HOOKED!

Here we are 3 1/2 years later still having the time of our lives. THANK YOU for joining us on this journey.

A few months ago, Christian Parenting Podcast Network approached us about joining their community and launching a new podcast in addition to TWP.

After much prayer and consideration, we are excited to share that RAISING SINNERS, A PODCAST WITH LISA AND CHRISSIE, will launch on September 2nd. That's right!

We'll be talking PARENTING every other Thursday and all things WONDER in between. So don't worry...TWP is still our first love!

FOLLOW RAISING SINNERS just like you subscribed to The Wonder Podcast, on your favorite podcast app and you'll never miss an episode or the voices you've come to love! :)

Do you struggle with fear, worry, and anxiety? Even if you're not prone to worry, world events can take us there.

We're human. Fear and anxiety can creep in when we least expect it. So let's talk about it. Listen in and be encouraged by God's word that (always) reminds us that He's got us. He loves us. He is sovereign. He is able. He is there. And He knows our struggles.

Our faith is strengthened in times like these. We are on a journey to know God more. We learn things on the mountaintop, but we REALLY learn things in the valley.

If you're in the valley right now, be encouraged. Your God is near.

Janine Baird is our guest on the podcast this week. Her journey of suffering is one that points straight to Jesus. Have you ever wondered how true suffering might affect you?

I'm sure we've all wondered on occasion how we might react when the pressure turns up. Well, Janine has flourished. Her story is one not only of suffering but one that magnifies God's presence in her life when she needed Him most.

For 7 years she's struggled with multiple brain tumors, extreme pain, countless doctors appointments, treatments, and knowing there is really no end in sight. But God.

He has given her joy in her journey. He has given her opportunities to minister and share the gospel. She's worshipped in radiology rooms across Texas and prayed with sisters and brothers in waiting rooms struggling through the same tests and treatments as her.

And she's never asked, "why me?' but often asked, "why not me?"

Janine and her husband Kyle have 3 amazing sons, 2 beautiful daughters-in-law, and one precious newborn grandson.

Hi Friends!

This episode was such a fan favorite we decided to air it again! This originally aired on 5/20/21. (Episode 126)

A former Muslim, Safeeya grew up believing Christians were misguided and Jews were to be hated. Even as a child she had a longing in her heart to know more and find her true identity. It wasn't until she received an invitation to church that she heard the gospel and The Holy Scripture for the first time.

She was given a Bible and the rest, shall we say, is "His story." The Holy Spirit was at work, as Safeeya pursued the yearning in her heart to know the one true God. Safeeya met Jesus Christ and her life has never been the same. Safeeya's story is convicting on so many levels.

For us, it was the power of an invitation. We spend so much of our time going to church that we forget to invite someone. Anyone. Every week. This could change the world. Just an invitation. So listen in and be encouraged that our world is full of men and women longing for something more. That something more is Jesus.

It is always a pleasure to catch up with this lady!

Crystal Yates came into our lives a few years back during a conference in Florida at, of all places, Disney World! And she's been making us smile ever since.

Crystal is one of our favorite worship leaders. A wife, mom, and singer/songwriter, Crystal is so in love with Jesus, her joy for Him is simply not contained. We have followed her to other states to hear her sing and lead worship! Do we sound like groupies??? We are!!!

In this episode of The Friend Zone, Crystal recounts lessons learned through a very difficult time in her life. During a recent illness and lengthy hospital stay, Crystal realized that "fear got loud and God got quiet." But even though she wasn't hearing from Him, He was there. And He was changing her.

Crystal also shares about her wonderful, faithful grandmother. We always love grandmother stories! :) We know you will be encouraged by this episode of TWP. Thank you Crystal for joining us!

As always, thank you for listening to TWP. If you would like to donate to our podcast ministry, you can click The Party Table link at http://www.chrissiedunham.org.

After we spoke with our friend Kay Wyma last month about her new book, "The Peace Project," we decided to spend an entire episode talking about mercy.

That's right. Mercy.

So much of that discussion left us wanting more, so here it is.

We discuss why showing mercy is so hard. Why???

The definition of mercy is "compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm." At its core, mercy is forgiveness. But it seems beyond love and forgiveness.

We hope you'll be encouraged by our discussion. We always want to talk about things that will encourage us but also spur us on.

Thank you for listening and for encouraging us! If you like what you hear, go to Apple Podcasts and give us a 5star review! That would make our day!

Terri Flannagan joined us today on TWP! Let us say she is pure D-lite with a capital D! We LOVE her!

We wanted to talk with Terri and find out how a mom of 3 can launch a consulting business, ministry, and extraordinary home life without breaking a sweat.

She stopped us several times in our tracks, explaining to us that she's not BUSY! And that's not her goal!

Her goal is a FULL LIFE with her husband Chuck and their 3 precious little ones.

God has given her vision, and she doesn't take that lightly. She's a doer. And she gets things done. But priorities keep her focused and intentional.

A few years ago, God placed on Terri's heart the need for a community of women to gather in the Charlotte, NC, area. And Ember was born.

Ember is a quarterly gathering for women to come together to encounter Jesus through worship, teaching, and prayer. We also talk about taking purposeful, intentional breaks from social media. Terri has lots to say about this, and it's so good.

Listen in and be encouraged no matter what stage of life you are in. Thanks for joining us, Terri!

Kay Wyma joins us today on the podcast. She is a friend to our show and we gain so much insight and encouragement from her EVERY time she is on. Her new book is out, The Peace Project. What would happen if we practiced thankfulness, kindness and mercy each day for 30 days? That's what Kay and friends did ...and The Peace Project was born. The results were undeniable. 30 days. Research has shown the benefits of thankfulness, kindness and mercy (compassion, forgiveness and more) individually, but magic occurs when they are practiced together. 30 days. Peace - the Shalom kind of peace that means wholeness, completeness, the bringing together of opposites - shows up and stays for a while. Want peace? Come and try. What have you got to lose?

Finally, this amazing letter ends with a reminder to “..cast our cares on Him because He cares for us..” Do you have cares you need to cast on Jesus today? We do. Let’s cast them on Him. He cares about every little detail in our lives.

Both are so full of wisdom and encouragement, plus lots of practical advice for this stage of life. Where is the rule book, people??? If there is one we haven't read it!!!

Nevertheless we have fun discussing our hits and misses as we navigate our new role in our children's lives as they move into adulthood. It's tricky, but so rewarding.

We also tackle giving unsolicited advice and setting boundaries! Listen in to our round table discussion and join the fun!

While suffering like the early church isn't something we will ever experience in our lifetime, many around the world have and will.

1 Peter 4 makes it clear, "...rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings, that when His glory is revealed you may also be glad with exceeding joy." Our suffering sanctifies us, and draws us closer to our Savior.

This chapter of 1 Peter also brought us to the 3rd and final time the word CHRISTIAN is used in the Bible. We are enjoying our time in 1 Peter. Only one more chapter to go then we'll tackle 2 Peter!

Are you following along? We hope so! We'd love to hear your thoughts and comments on this book! He is our LIVING HOPE! As always, thanks for listening and encouraging us!

We continue our series in 1 Peter and today we discuss the "S" word! That's right! SUBMISSION.

It's a thing, y'all. And it's a GOOD THING and it's a GOD THING!

He created it. We are all under God's authority.

The whole world is under His sovereign rule and reign. Jesus was submissive to the Father. We are all submission to rules and regulations. We are submissive to government and state, teachers, bosses...and in our marriages. It's not a bad word. It's a good word.

Because it's God's word. What a beautiful thing it is to walk in truth and light. Knowing the scriptures brings these negative words into light and they give us LIFE!

So thankful you are on the journey with us through 1 Peter!

We pray you are encouraged.

As we continue our study of 1 Peter, we find ourselves in the 2nd chapter and are blown away by how relevant this letter is to the Church.

Who needs to crave God's word? We all do!

But do we crave it as much as we did as new followers of Christ? Or have we moved on to other things? Peter encourages the Believers to DESIRE the spiritual milk of God's word as much as they did in the beginning.

Don't desire the things of this world that lead to nothing! Desire Christ and His Living Word!!! PREACH!!!

We all know the Sunday School answers to the question, "how do we grow spiritually?" but growth occurs in the everyday, mundane moments of life!

Are we Velveeta cheese or Parmigiano Reggiano (for all our non-Italian speakers, that's REAL CHEESE!)??

Listen in for the real story.

Enjoy and thanks for listening!!!

Here we go again!!!

We LOVE studying God's word with you all! These next few episodes will have us in 1 Peter! Let us just tell you that it is FITTING for 2021!

Isn't that the way God's word works? It ALWAYS meets us where we are.

We are so thankful for this letter from Peter to the dispersed church. They were hurting and needed a word from the Lord.

Have you ever found yourself in that position? Of course you have! We have, too. God's word gives us hope...A LIVING HOPE.

As we enter into Easter weekend, let us encourage you to never lose hope. Your faith in Jesus Christ is ALIVE because HE IS ALIVE! HE HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE AND HE IS ALIVE!

Thank you, Jesus! And as always, thank YOU for listening.

Karen McNeece was called into ministry at a young age, not knowing where God would lead her but suspecting it would be to a remote village in a country far, far away.

Little did she know that the call was to be in ministry with her husband, who had not been called into ministry at a young age. His call came later, and the two of them have served God and His people their whole marriage.

About 5 years ago, God led them to Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, a non-profit ministry. Karen's ministry calling, however, has always been first and foremost to her family.

A homemaker extraordinaire, Karen loves caring for her husband and two grown children when they are home. She loves putting "feed under the table" and serving family, neighbors, guests and anyone who enters their home.

"Home is where ministry takes place," she says and she takes this ministry seriously! A scratch cook, Karen loves to prepare new recipes when guests come over. And all meals are planned around DESSERT!

Karen is our kinda girl and we LOVED our visit with her. Thank you for listening in and enjoy our conversation with Karen McNeece!

In this episode of The Wonder Podcast, we continue our conversation with Robin Turner.

We know you have enjoyed hearing Robin share her heart for prayer.

Praying for our spouse is vital in our marriages. We tackle some hard topics in this episode including praying for a spouse who has walked away from their faith, or who is no longer walking with the Lord.

Robin's answer? Matthew 7 - KEEP ON ASKING, KEEP ON SEEKING, KEEP ON KNOCKING!

We continue our prayers even when we don't see God moving because this "helps us to see the big picture and know that He is sovereign and in control." Remember, our time table and God's time table are very different.

Let God fight these battles and you fight them on your knees! Surround yourself with community who are fighting for you on their knees as well!

So enjoy this episode, be encouraged and remember to THROW US SOME STARS on the platform you listen to podcasts if you like what you hear! This helps THE WONDER PODCAST reach more people!

We had a wonderful time taping an episode of The Wonder Podcast with Robin Turner.

(We actually had such a great time we kept talking and have 2 parts of this episode. Next week we'll air part 2!)

She's so godly and full of wisdom. Wife of Scott Turner, former NFL player, and state legislator, Robin knows the need for prayer in her life, and the need for prayer in her husband's life. We know you'll be blessed by her words of encouragement.

We tackle the basics, such as "what is prayer and why should we do it?" Seems obvious? Not always. Robin reminds us to stay strong in our prayers, not giving up, fighting the enemy with scripture, and making prayer a part of our lives, equating it to breathing. (Now that's important!)

Maybe you've prayed for your spouse and God hasn't moved. God is always at work. Stay strong. Stay committed. Stay faithful.

Listen in as Robin shares her heart for the Lord, His Word, and prayer. As always, thank you for tuning in to The Wonder Podcast.

In this episode of The Wonder Podcast, Chrissie and Lisa tackle the book of Titus. Though it's a very short letter by Paul, it packs a BIG punch. Paul uses this letter to Titus, to encourage him in his role of teacher, preacher, and role model for the new church. The island of Crete is where Titus is ministering, and Chrissie and Lisa reminisce a bit about their short stop in Crete while visiting Greece. This book serves as a reminder to us all that our good works can be what brings the world to Christ. While our works don't save us, our good works are used by God to draw people to Himself. We must be about doing good in this world! We want the world coming to Christ not fleeing from Him because Christians can't represent! We pray this book ministers to you as you listen.

In this final chapter of Philippians, Lisa and Chrissie discuss Paul’s heart behind the message.

He encourages the church in Philippi to not be anxious about all that is going on. Be steadfast, gentle, and always rejoice! He reminds them that they are all on the same team! It’s such a
good reminder for us, isn’t it? We are all on the same team. We must be gentle with each other.

Anxiety is something Paul certainly dealt with on some level, don’t you think? Yet he reminds us in this chapter to not be anxious…about ANYTHING! And then he goes on to say that he has learned to be content in all circumstances. Our anxiety stems from our inability to be content no matter what comes our way.

“Most Christians are being crucified on a cross between two thieves; yesterday’s regret and tomorrow’s worries.” - Warren Wiersbe

Again, Paul encourages the church to watch how he lives. It’s a bold statement to live by. But Paul is very bold as he leads. It makes a point that we are all influencers.

Whether you’re a friend, parent, co-worker, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, daughter, or son…you’re influencing someone. Can you say, “Follow me…I’ll lead you to Christ”?

As we close this book of study, we’re thankful for the opportunity to study and in turn share
with you. We always appreciate your feedback and encouragement.

Let us know what you would like us to dive into next!

Thanks for listening!

Count it all loss. Chapter 3 is where the rubber meets the road.

Paul lists his various accomplishments in life and lets us know that it is all loss compared to knowing Christ.

How many times have we relied on our resume or accomplishments for value, esteem, and worth?

Yet Paul reminds us it’s nothing. Jesus Christ is our all, our everything, our sufficiency. And what a privilege to know HIM!

This chapter also reminds us that what is on our minds comes out in our lives. It’s so convicting to intentionally THINK about what we THINK about.

What is on your mind today? God’s word helps us redirect our thought life from the things of this world to the things of His kingdom.

We get so confused, don’t we? Remember, confusion is NOT from the Lord.

This chapter, y'all! It is full of POWER!

Thank you for diving in with us. We’re LOVING our time
in Philippians.

In this episode, Chrissie and Lisa break down the 2nd chapter of Philippians. This letter to the Church is packed full of POWER VERSES!

The theme? HUMILITY.

Who or what comes to mind when you think of someone who has shown you great humility? Jesus was the most beautiful
example of humility. Paul uses this letter to stress how the Believer should live.

This chapter also stresses the need to work out our salvation. What does this mean? Are works part of salvation? Join us as we break down this and the other verses of this great chapter.

As always, thank you for listening and joining us as we study God’s word.

In this series, Chrissie and Lisa will take a deep dive into one of Paul’s great letters to the Church.

In Philippians, Paul sets out to encourage the church in Philippi whom he shared the gospel 10 years prior. His letter, consisting of 4 chapters, is full of joy as he encourages the Church to work through their suffering with humility and their struggles with joy. Paul loved the people of Philippi and wants them to know how thankful he is for them.

We hope you will walk with us through this study as we pause to say “thanks to the Lord” for the great things He has done. Even in adversity, the gospel of Jesus Christ remains the main

Is it the main thing in your life? That is the question we will be asking…are we laser-focused on our mission? Or are we sidetracked, focusing more on the things of this world? It’s
easy to take your eyes off of Christ.

There are so many distractions, certainly, 2020 has had its
fair share. So, let’s come together Church! These are great days!

Even in adversity, the gospel of Jesus Christ remains the main
thing. Is it the main thing in your life?

That is the question we will be asking…are we laser-focused on our mission? Or are we sidetracked, focusing more on the things of this world? It’s easy to take your eyes off of Christ. There are so many distractions, certainly, 2020 has had its fair share.

So, let’s come together Church! These are great days! Let’s let our light shine!

And that’s exactly what we did during this 21-day journey with our friend, Carmen Schroeder.

Joined by two other friends, Sara and Brandy, we launched into 21 days of parsing the Proverbs.

And it was an adventure.

A new Proverb every day, we took each word of a particular verse(s)and dissected it back to the original Hebrew (parse).

It was fascinating and so very meaningful.

We grew not only in our knowledge of scripture but in the discipline of studying the scripture.

It was such a meaningful pursuit and growth experiment. This episode is basically our little
group sharing from our hearts all that this journey meant to us personally.

Anyone can be a part of Carmen’s 21-Day Mussar Skills for Living Experiment. Contact her at mereasofgrace.org.

Thanks for listening!

Holly Newton is our guest on The Wonder Podcast this week.

Through several moves around the nation and extreme loss, Holly shares her family’s journey with such authenticity and
strength, coupled with equal parts joy. From their family manifesto to the question they all asked themselves, “What will we choose to believe about our God?”

Holly’s love and surrender to the Lord spilled over into her life, words, and worship. A seasoned worship leader and speaker,

Holly’s journey has brought her closer to her Savior. And she credits that to total surrender to His will and plan for her life.

We’ve been friends with Holly for years. But watching her
navigate through these last few years, has left us with such a beautiful picture of who she is as a follower of Jesus Christ.

We know you’ll be encouraged as you listen.

From this total surrender, an event for women was born: EXHALE.

Please check out her Instagram for daily encouragement and more information about this upcoming event in the Austin area.

We are joined by Michelle Nietert, MA for this episode of The Wonder Podcast. Michelle has served as a professional counselor and director of Community Counseling Associates in Texas for over a decade. She has been a professional counselor for more than 20 years. Let us just tell you, she is a wealth of knowledge.

Obviously, 2020 brings mental health issues to a whole new level. 1 in 4 adolescents will experience mental illness before age 18. 1 in 3 adults suffer in some way with mental illness.

The more we talk about this and bring it to the table the better. Michelle’s biblical approach to her counseling practice is solid and full of TRUTH, as well as innovative, creative and empathetic.

We also discuss Michelle’s new devotional book, LOVED AND CHERISHED, co-authored with Lynn Cowell, Proverbs 31 Ministries author. Geared toward girls 7-14, this book gives girls 100 devotionals to meditate on daily. LOVED AND CHERISHED lays the groundwork for girls to know the love God has for them before entering the often tumultuous junior high years where kids often feel rejected and struggle with feelings of not being good enough that can lead to anxiety and depression.

Holding on to secrets in your life brings a heavy burden.

Becky Leach joins Chrissie and Lisa to discuss the freedom you gain when you address your secrets.

Becky carried around shame for twenty years as an abuse victim before experiencing the freedom of God's great mercy. It was through the revealing of her circumstance that Jesus came in and redeemed her story. Hoping to point everyone that hears her testimony to the healing power of the cross, #FreeToo was born in the quiet moments God whispered His great love over her pain.

The mission of #FreeToo is to radically impact our community for the sake of the Kingdom, pointing women to the great mercy of Christ as we share stories of freedom. We want to see Kingdom Women on fire chasing after Jesus, embracing the entire story God is writing for them, thereby revitalizing our churches and communities.

Our hope for #FreeToo is that believing women would fall madly in love with Jesus, that unbelieving women would experience His grace for the first time and that every woman would experience the exorbitant freedom that comes from being in fellowship with Jesus Christ.
